Lovely new thread CSWS.

Hmm how is poppy today? Sounds like a tummy bug so should last too long. Poor baby. Back to work for you now then. That will be fab. I remember going back to work. It was scary but also very welcome.

CSWS you asked me to let you know how the big boy bed situation was going. Well W goes to bed every night with out any problems so far. He pootles out of his room in the morning around 7ish so thats nice and he is always in a good mood as he doesnt have to wait for me to haul my ass out of bed to rescue him.
How ever the day time nap is a night mare. He just springs up quicker than you can get out of the room. He has been in there so far for 45 mins and I have gone in to him 5 times and so far every toy is out of it place and thrown all across the room!!! I will go back in again now as he is getting stroppy.

Myjob really what a pain.

I think I can do the 24th as well.
Aubergenie. There is the beach, the hills all very good for walks etc or cycling if your DP is into the outdoor nonsense. I havent told DH yet as he is also ridiculously shy and will get himself in a tiss about it all. So expect him to make himself invisible ladies, only after he has completed all the food prep mind you

I have been in my bed all weekend. massive sinus infection. Could'nt move my head. My mum told me off for not going to the doctors sooner, she said that I am not super womna and have rto ask for help sometimes. Poor DH didnt quite know what had hit him though as couldnt/wouldnt get out of bed he had sole charge of the DC all weekend. He was knackered

ronshar · 04/01/2010 11:21

Oh yes, Star. With out GHD's I may possibly never leave my house with my hair down. Did you see that episode of Friends where Monica's hair goes into a massive frizz ball. Well that is me on a bad day!!!
I would also recommend sticking with the narrow ones. It does take a little longer but you get a better result.

hedgepig · 04/01/2010 11:27

aubergenie I'm a bit worried how O will be when he goes back to nursery tomorrow he hasn't been for over 2 weeks and so probably won't even remember it. It is going to be a struggle to get dressed and out of the house for 7:45 tomorrow. Luckily DH takes O and DS1 to nursery and school and I only have to pick them up.

I'm with Star on the straight hair, mine is fine and straight so I had it all chopped off and put various products in it, and dry it upside down to get some body into it.

StarExpat · 04/01/2010 11:35

dh got me a voucher to have my hair done/cut at a nice salon since I always go to supercuts (it's a straight cut, no need to do anything fancy and no one can screw it up, so £10 is a good price for me!).
I'm nervous about it because he paid so much for it and now it's going to be nothing special because nothing special can be done with straight, fine hair with no body!

ronshar · 04/01/2010 12:03

I forgot to say congratulations to Heather.
(Another 3 child looney)

Star just enjoy the experience. I love going to the hairdresser. Get a good cut and it can make all the difference. Maybe have a bit of colour for a change?

Hedgepig how was your christmas? Was Santa good to you or did he spoil the DC instead?

StarExpat · 04/01/2010 12:18

hmmm, good idea. Which colour? I've always wanted very dark hair, but it wouldn't look right on me. My hair gets really blonde if I'm in the sun a lot in the summer and I don't like the streaky barbie look. Maybe some strawberry tints or something? But people here (in the UK) seem to really attack any tint of red... (I think it's quite pretty).

ronshar · 04/01/2010 13:27

Ginger is the colour that people laugh at. Unfairly if you ask me. I think it is beautiful.
I have always had red in my hair sometimes too much.

I a currently having a running battle with W. He wants to open all the cupboards, touch my glass of water, help himself to the bars in the cupboard, climb up on the table basically everything he knows he shouldnt be doing. All this has been done with a cheeky grin on his face. Little bugger.

heather1980 · 04/01/2010 14:08

ginger hair is great however thank god neither of mine inherited it!

Aubergenie - really good idea about the photos. I did this with Q even when he was too young to really "get it" and I feel like having the photos at home all the time really just helps quite a bit. In fact, the ones I have are quite outdated. I must ask to take some new ones soon!

In fact, I've been making a book of people Q knows - me, dh, toddler friend...etc. (+grandparents so he will "know" them) and I think I'll add my friend who looks after him and people/animals there

ronshar · 04/01/2010 14:40

Toddlers love photos. The constant stopping and going through each photo every time is just wonderful!
Myjob. I knew I prefered girls. Now I know why

hedgepig · 04/01/2010 15:51

Boys are fun Ronshar. O however is more cunning than his big brother. We have alock on the TV cabinet whihc would stop DS1 no problem, O however reaches his hand in through the gap and manages to turn on/off the DVD or Wii .....little monkey [GRin]

Star I have blonde, red and copper highlights in my hair (anything to cover the grey)

Cripes! N is developing quickly MyJob

StarExpat · 04/01/2010 19:14

boys are so much easier by the age of 6-8 and from what I hear of my colleagues... that continues through to um... adulthood. Then boys (as we know) become more difficult

When does hair turn grey???? How long do I have left? And do you just wake in the morning and see a grey hair or is it a nest of them or spread throughout? Is there any warning that it's coming?

Ekka · 04/01/2010 19:29

aubergenie, sorry to hear about S being unsettled. We are starting ds with dd's cm tomorrow morning, only for an hour or so - we'll see how the mummy's boy copes!!!! At least he'll have his big sister there for some fighting comfort though

Ds has currently got an obsession with pumpkin pie - every time I go near the fridge he runs over shouting 'pa pie' and he'll eat as much as is put in front of him .

Got to go and do bedtime now - I've got two tired kids, I'll read through all recent posts properly later.

aubergenie · 04/01/2010 19:37

Ooh good! A hair discussion.

My Gran used to swear that her grandma had a horrific shock and went grey overnight Star, but it actually comes on very gradually. I've got quite a few grey hairs but I cover them easily with a semi-permanent colour. I normally have auburn hair but have gone a bit browner this time. Am also thinking that it may be time to get a fringe. Bit scared about that though.

S had a much better time at the CM today so we're all feeling relieved. They went out to the ball pit and he played really happily apparently. I spoke to my headteacher about it today and she says it's fine if I need to dash off at lunchtime or after school early.

How's Poppy now HMM?

StarExpat · 04/01/2010 19:37

Wow Ekka! I wish Q would say something so clear and meaningful like that. I had coffee with a friend who has a DD who is 3 months younger than Q this weekend and she's been doing baby sign with her since the very beginning and she signs all sorts of things and says a few sounds, too. Q just ran around like a loon, yelling "da" and speaking uggle buggle.
I love pumpkin pie (as does DH and Q). Must make some soon!

Q had a good first day back with my friend while I'm at work. She's having someone else (who I know) look after him two days a week in her home to make it easier, which works.

StarExpat · 04/01/2010 19:39

aubergenie you have to ask if you can leave at lunchtime? Glad he had a better time today, that's great!

ronshar · 04/01/2010 20:05

Star I have been covering my grey for so long that I couldnt tell you what colour my hair actually is
Aubergenie great news about S and his CM. Ball pits the best invention ever.

Ladies the good thing about girls is that everythig is thought through. They dont do this relentless impulsive destructive behaviour with a big grin on their faces!! I mean how much can one boy do in a day.

hedgepig · 04/01/2010 20:07

Aubergenie that must be a relief thatS was more settled, today.

Star I got my 1st greys at about 40 but my best friend went grey in her 20's. It is very mostly genetic.

Bath time we are soooo late and it's back to school for DS1 tomorrow. (bad parent)

OK I turned 31 in October, have light brown/dark blond hair .... hazard a guess at when the grey will appear? is there an online calculator for this sort of thing??
