I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

loti what a shame you missed out, but brilliant that dh saw sense.

sazzles I have to admit that I did not realise that Mamma Mia had sing along, so maybe that was why we had it on again.

Me and dh were both singing along and realised that we had been singing a few wrong words to some of the songs.
DD did not like me and dh singing and laughing. She kept throwing herself on the floor.

Poor dd2. I understand why you got so cross though and no need to feel because dd was throwing jugs of water in ds face in the bath the other day, and after lots of warnings and telling off I splashed ajugfull a little on her to see how she liked it.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/01/2010 13:45

Was just looking for ideas on net earlier for birthday cake for dd.(think she wants peppa pig) So think I may do square iced cake with peppa pig characters sculpted on the top. Or the big 3d peppa pig she has just seen Both dcs were happily playing watchingtv when dd came up to me and said 'mummy my brother is asleep' bless.
He was, so we closed the blinds and covered him up and me and dd have just made some gorgeous little fairy cakes with raisins in.

DD loved it I let her do everything and to see her little face mixing away and putting mixture in the cases was lovely.
However dd and ds have just eaten 12 mini fairy cakes between them.

I am going to justify that by saying well they were only tiny and put them together would probably only make a decent size one. and they had raisins in.

vg just what I thought too.

I am a bit desperate for some me time. Have not been anywhere done anything on my own for a loooong time.

Hoping to go singing tonight though so that will be great.
Not wanting to sound selfish.but it's not really like being on my own, still bed time to do before I can get out.
Occasionally miss the days when I could go and do as I pleased, without clock watching etc.. iykwim.
I am going to try and sort something out. I fancy going to the cinema on my own to see New Moon. (we would both like to go actualy, but no sitters at all) No polite chit chat, just sat in silence. bliss

luckoftheirish · 11/01/2010 14:19

dd2 still hasn't slept yet!!! she has been awake since 6.30am and shows no sign of dropping of.. surely she cannot be losing her one and only nap at 17 months????... she was a bit ad miss over xmas but put that down to excitement...

its making the day verrryyyy long indeed!

cyteen · 11/01/2010 15:01

Parenting fail, anyone? Guess who left the stairgate open after bringing DS down from his nap Off he merrily toddled once lunch was done, leaving me washing up in the kitchen, blissfully unaware that he was attempting to climb our deathtrap staircase I was only alerted by the bang - thank fuck he'd only gone up one step and wasn't harmed or bothered in the slightest. My heart is still racing though. What a moron! I'm not sure I'm fit to be let loose on the world

Lovely to hear your two are getting better most of the time no1 If and when you want to talk about the other thing, fire away, you know we'll be here.

springapore what a lovely offer, thank you In fact thank all of you for telling me to go away and I mean that most sincerely.

cyteen · 11/01/2010 15:02

getting on better, that should say.

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/01/2010 15:46

Hi All

No1 - glad we can be of some help.

Sazzles - I threw a tantrum to match DD today in the doorway of the dreaded Tesco - every scream she did I matched. We had been out to lunch with MIL and DH and done 8 1 or 2 things on the way back to the car (no pushchair) and she wanted to go on the magic stairs in Tesco and I had said we would go but I was past it by then with the squealing and stopping to try and eat dirty snow so enjoyed my tantrum.

Ladies I bought a maternity tankini today (never owned one before) not a phrase I ever thought I would ever say! But I did buy a proper fall back plain black cossie just in case I looked a total pudding. Now just to get DH's opinion before I return it.

ooooh I skip over a few pages and read that cyteen is travelling around the world with family in tow and is hoping to visit Argentina ... (very baby friendly city, a spare bedroom - slightly small, but I think that you could all squash in, and more toys that have flahing lights and buttons to press than you can shake a stick at).

oops my maternity tankini came off ebay in the US as great cost when pregnant with DS. Only the top half arrived. Now why on earth would someone in Argentine customs want half a maternity tankini? Probably the same person who mislaid 50 bilingual bibles for my church which went missing at about the same time.

Anyway - I like it alot, very practical.

PS I was also going to say thank you for all the "just strap him in the buggy" advice. No problems at all now after a couple of days

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/01/2010 19:33

DH's response to the tankini - 'I'd shag you' I take that to mean it looks okay!

Venison and redwine sausages for dinner here with mash and honey glazed carrots. I also make cheesecake today so will have a little slice.(just to be polite of course!)

I gave DD free reign on her cossie choice today - first she chose a peppa pig one, then she saw a UpsyDaisy on and took that instead then she saw one with strawberries on and yelled - nomato and took that instead so by the power of tomato looking strawberries we have avoided the Pig branding! She also doen't have a tummy button she has a mummy button, which I thought was very appropriate!

LWFH - I could have done with being able to buy the top and bottom seperately as the bottoms are too big and the top fits but it is just for sitting on the beach and paddling the sturdy black one is for real swimming with DD (or I'd end up bottom less in the pool)

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/01/2010 19:35

LWFH - I may have missed it in the Christmas rush but did your parcel ever arrive (apologies if you said it did, I blame preggy brain!)

sambo303 · 11/01/2010 19:56

Hi all, what a charmer your dh is oops

and should i be worried as ds does not say anything, just points and grunts. the nearest he's got to a word is 'wah wah' (used as a blanket term for wee wee, nappy, toilet, poo and various other random objects); I am most impressed with sentences

pert ds has chewed my nips to buggery pardon my french what with constant feeding during the eczema phase which coincided with several new teeth and no modification of latch. I'm back on the Lansinoh - no signs of ds giving up bf either and it's so handy so I'm loath to put him off.

hi lwfh how's motherhood the second time around

no1 sorry you've been feeling down, I'd love to go see New Moon by myself too!! sounds like bliss

cyteen your plans sound fab, the travelling one at least; there's always houses to be bought

dp and I had an all day row yesterday and we are officially Not Speaking. Cant stand stuff like that so feeling fed up

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/01/2010 20:03

Hi Sambo - Yes DH is a man of very few words! DD is a girl of many which surprised us. it happens overnight. I wouldn't be worried though. DD has just stopped feeding and I was a little but she seems happy although she has randomly asked for it in the last few days when she is tired or upset, which I don't mind. I hate the not speaking thing - I tend to poke DH until he speaks to me about what is bugging us or I talk at him endlessly until he gives up.

sambo303 · 11/01/2010 20:08

I was hoping to have 2nd dc before giving up bf so as to avoid the 6 weeks of toe curling agony I had with ds but it seems we will not be having dc2...
I'm afraid i am the silent one in this relationship and yes, it drives dp mad

QueenofDreams · 11/01/2010 20:43

Hi ladies.
Just popping on quickly. Haven't been able to catch up properly, but I see congratulations are in order for Miamla! All the best for you and your new little bean.
Very very tired, as I was up at 6 this morning after a bad night (not Seb's fault) So an early night for me tonight.
Oh and we're moving on Saturday, so we have a LOT to do [meep]
Hope everyone is doing ok.

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/01/2010 20:52

Hi QOD - Hope you have found a nice warm double glazed, draught free house to move into. How are things with Seb and DP's working hours? Are you still staying local?

lwfhthevampireslayer · 11/01/2010 21:11

My FIL is hopefully collecting the parcel today (attempt 2) without having to take me and the babies. It is still in customs. We went to the police station this morning to get the authorisation signed [do you think that there is ever need for an Argenine Beaurocracy emoticon].

I am still really touched, I keep explaining to people here about the women on the internet who bought me a present.

GladioliBuckets · 11/01/2010 21:22

Hey QoD, good luck with the move.

Hey Sambo, no real words from Kurt either. Finally starting to make animal noise and sign attempts, both unrecognisable to anyone but me.

DD & I are wearing activity monitors for the week as part of a v longterm local survey. Have also been weighed and I have 25.8 BMI (25 being borderline for overweightness.) Time to kick some ass (my own.) Consequently, I shall grab a cold beer and seduce the old DH I think, got to impress those medical data analysts haven't I? How's that for multitasking?
