I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

morning. i have cheap gas station chocolate covered donuts, oven roasted almonds and dr pepper to offer. it's my pre-pilates workout meal. don't ask....want some?

buckets i like the greece trip. if only we could "transport" there instead of fly. i still really want to get out and SEE the world. hypnosis maybe in my future.

i've been budget working up a storm the past week. taxes will be ready to file any day now. we always over pay so we get money back. i call it my government savings plan. pays no dividends but keeps up from having to pay in due to oversight. if my numbers hold up (and we don't have any major catastrophes this year) we will be debt free (minus our small mortgage) next January. the most exciting part (for me at least) is that i've not scrimped on our beach vacation or normal day to day necessities. i should thought seeing as though we need a new roof and windows but will try not to worry about that until 2011. i have a coupon queen friend whom i'm getting some other savings ideas from that might prove to be profitable. i'm just not very good with coupons. such a bother.

oops how is it that the ils couldn't smell poppy yesterday? would it be wrong for you to invite them over today and SHOW them her bum with a polite explanation as to the importance of diaper changes. seriously that's just poor.

sazzles must have had a really good time.

the new year has officially started. af has landed. anybody who's not baby-making considering going on a birth-control that makes af a seasonal visitor instead of a monthly visitor? i'm sure there's a thread around this joint discussing the goods and bads of it.

you're absolutely right Sazz but it will be more of a NO next year as by then DD1 will be 7 and D will be 2. At the moment we don't pay for kids under 7yrs and D gets to sit on our knee on the plane which is cheaper [petulant child emoticon]

your weekend sounds lovely

TS well done on your financial wizzardry

CaptainCaveman · 10/01/2010 16:28

Ladies this is a momentous occasion.....I am typing this from downstairs in my house!!! Thats right, I bought a laptop

dizzydixies · 10/01/2010 16:30

lovely CC - what did you go with?

GladioliBuckets · 10/01/2010 18:24

CC Hoping to nab my DBro when he's around next weekend to fix my wireless network for me. Will wrap it up in a deal with lunch and entertainment for the DNephs.

Then I can properly rearrange the boys' room.
Does anyone know where to get reasonable cotbed-sized duvets and duvet covers? Think Kurt's going to be in his for a long time now.

Seems to be wrestling o'clock again, bloody noisy it is, Kurt v much walking a hysterical tightrope of joy and tears. Far too manly imo, I must get him some Judy Garland dvds if I'm going to turn him into the next John Barrowman.

Hope snow and ice start melting soon here, binmen did not come last week and I have a mountain of stuff to take to the dump from my clearouts. Am fed up with snow now, esp hassle of having to feed fussy DD all the time - roll on leftovers for lunch for me and Kurt.

dizzydixies · 10/01/2010 18:24

TS am on the scrounge - have FB'd you

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/01/2010 18:28

Steaky - do you do knock off copy pieces of clothing? I have seen this which I love for DD but would rather see if you can make one similar before I order from a stranger.

cyteen · 10/01/2010 18:34

GB the binmen didn't manage to make it down our street on bin day OR the extra collection they were meant to be doing this week Stig would feel at home in our house right now, it's overflowing with sacks of rubbish and boxes of recycling. Mind you, DP hasn't been able to drive to the tip either so I suppose I shouldn't be too harsh.

Snow seems to be melting here at last, hopefully small and I will be able to go out and stretch our legs tomorrow! He has been fabulously cute today though

DP and I have been mulling over plans this weekend...wondering whether to buy a house, go travelling for a while, go travelling for a long while or some combination of the above

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/01/2010 18:36

Steaky - she also does a flower petal skirt I love.

Is anyone else watching the Polar Bear cam? DD keeps walking upi and asking for polibeer polibeer, whenever I have my computer open.

dizzydixies · 10/01/2010 18:36

oohh oops I love that but bloody hell at £24 and I think it would be nicer knee length so you could have stripey tights/leggings underneath

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/01/2010 18:39

I know but it's the first tiem I hae seen anything on folksy and thought I MUST HAVE THAT - she has a number of things I like.

dizzydixies · 10/01/2010 18:43

I can understand why, I'm just not sure how she can justify £24 for it - maybe steaky will come along and tell me I'm being a stingy mare as its full of lots of intricate work?

cyteen - at fabulously cute - I've been bitten/kicked/nipped/scratched and now headbutted - Dylan has been up since 6am and hasn't let me put her down since - I've fecking had it

go travelling, for god sake go travelling. Once they're in school you're buggered. take a laptop though

Sazz, am partial to a stripe or two - DD1 was in a beautiful No Added Sugar Stripey Dress that I got in the sale yesterday and I loved it

cyteen · 10/01/2010 18:56

Yes, I saw your FB status dizz, bloody rubbish You need a little of that Sazz weekend magic, I think. In fact, surely the Aug08 mums deserve a weekend away in a fancy cottage somewhere?

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/01/2010 18:58

Cyteen - I missed your post I would get married and do a bit of travelling but only because it's what I am dreaming of - packing us all up and going around the world.

DD went to the ILs this afternoonn as they won't see her properly next week, as everyone in finally back to work and we have a sale next weekend, before we go. So Dh and I sat in bed and watched crap telly eating nutella on toast drinking proper cocoa and generally doing nothing for 2 hours. When DH went to collect her the ILs asked what we had been doing and he had to make up all sorts of things about sorting the loft, and putting the lasts of the outside lights in the garage. As the last time they had her they popped over here to bring her back early and caught us

dizzydixies · 10/01/2010 19:00

absolutely fucking lootly, count me in - Dh can manage for once

the FB status was for his benefit as he'll check on his wanky iphone at work, he's sent a text message asking how its going and got short shrift already git and yes I know he's tired and he works very hard blah blah blah but how sodding hard is it to set an alarm?! I've had a go at him about taking responsibility for himself again and when he apologised I told him not to bother as I'd heard it before maybe I should go full time and see how he gets on

rant over

am off to text my friend to ask where she stayed with her lot over new year as it sounded fab - Penrith somewhere I think, should suit everyone.

I'm in, Cyteen is in and I'm pretty sure Sazz will be in too

cyteen · 10/01/2010 19:06

oops rofl at being caught redhanded! Sounds like the sort of thing I would do

Glad the travelling idea doesn't seem too way out there...for one reason or another neither of us have ever travelled nearly as much as we want to and neither wants to look back from 50 and say 'why didn't we do xyz?' Certainly I don't want DS growing up with the idea that dreams are not to be followed...I want him to have broad horizons and amazing experiences. DP is so fed up in his job, and living in Leicester is not exactly the be-all and end-all. The big Q at the moment is whether to try and buy a house (which could be let while we're away, thus giving us a base) or whether to just sell everything we own, jack it all in and come back to a necessary fresh start. Decisions, decisions. Very fortunate decisions, I know.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/01/2010 19:06

Count me in too.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/01/2010 19:08

Jack it all in cyteen I am sure it will work out. Your idea and plans for ds sound wonderful. I am of similar spirit, but sadly dh is not.
Rough times here atm.Lots of thoughts about the future etc...
I am just blaming it on being so tired and hormones, but deep down not sure.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/01/2010 19:11

oops your 2 hours with dh sounds bliss.
Sorry about Poppea(sp?) and her sore bottom though, hope it is on the mend.

cc nice one re laptop.

sazzles the walk to the pub is great to blow the cobwebs away. Very maybe just what I need.
So sorry missed your birthday, and didnt send birthday wishes.

buckets I think I have the next John Barrowman at my house.Xmas Grin

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/01/2010 19:13

dizzy I have had a similar day with dcs.
Both been on the go since six after a rough night, and neither have had day time nap. Dd quit a long time ago, and ds has not had one for a while now. Very tired, but fights it.

I had had enough by 6.20 so put him to bed. DD sat colouring and I am about to take her to bed.
