I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

VG I do a lovely cranachan trifle with honeyed oats. raspberries and whisky cream

TS - my friend swears by Liz Earle as well as VG but I couldn't remember what it was called, she has terrible problems with her skin but the Liz Earle still has sorted her right out

the No7 stuff I use is the perfect and protect or something - supposed to stop the signs of ageing creeping up

tis Scottish thats why

TwilightSurfer · 04/01/2010 00:18

VG that is a posh product line. I'm sure I would really like it but having been nose deep in my household budget today, I'm shying away. I need a few more days to work some magic with the numbers then I might reconsider.

I've just unearthed last Christmas' find, a tube of AVEDA which contains the line THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PURE FLOWER AND PLANT ESSENCES. How is Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, or Benzyl Benzoate PURE or PLANT-LIKE??? It also says DO NOT USE ON FACE. I read this only after applying it my beautiful crows feet area. This beauty bit is dangerous.

TS linky link to oil cleaning method thread on MN - how else would I have come up with it?

Though it is something I've been interested in for a while. Lets face it the biggest ingredient in most cosmetics is water. And cosmetics are just that - cosmetic. They can't change the deep nature of your skin because then they would be medical. I think the oil method works because it is using plant rather than petrochemical oils, so they are absorbed rather than forming a barrier that doesn't let gunk out.

Lots of interesting stuff over here though be warned before you know it you will be maxing out your credit card and setting up a beauty counter in your kitchen

steaknife · 04/01/2010 07:28

oh and morning all - healthy prorridge and fruit to get you started this morning. Who is back to work today?

steaknife · 04/01/2010 07:37

Oh and TS I've just started using the oil on DDs arms - I've not bothered using a moisturiser on her before because I didn't want to put gunk on her, but she has very dry skin on her arms. So at bathtime I am rubbing with a wash cloth to get rid of old skin and then massaging in oil. I think I might use a solid oil - something like shea or mango butter though to see if that helps too.

Morning Steaky..

Huge congrats to Miamla.. what a wonderful new year's eve present ...

I never manage to get on here at night time and then miss all the juicy gossip!!! must try harder!!!

Well i have woken up this am with a massive coldsore on my lip and gungy eyes.. guess the last week and a half of kids driving me insane, late nights ad way too much bad food and drink have taken their toll ...

well done gb on the quiting smoking.. i must confess that i haven't yet and need to desperately so big cheers and encouragement from me!!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/01/2010 08:45

Morning all

TS - I (when I remember) use Dr Hauschka it's mostly natural and is fantastic although a little expensive.

DD has decided that she NEEDS a cup of milk at 5.30 in the morning and I know it is just habit so I am making up the spare room of DH and we are going to stop it. She used to be happy to get up and play until 7 then have millk when we come down but now she wakes up and yells milk until she gets it then will lie and snuggle for an hour or so but when we get up she wants her morning milk again.

DH has gone to work thank heavens forthat! He was driving me nuts - don't get me wrong he is fab and lovely and everything but was driving me mad.

Morning Steaky - I use solid coconut oil on DD, she smalls just like a large Bounty mmmmmm.

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 04/01/2010 09:27

Miamla congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must confess to being a little bit but am tempering that with thoughts of morning sickness. I hope you do not suffer too much and have a lovely trouble-free pregnancy where you glow from beginning to end!

Buckets I am going through a mini nicotine withdrawal, after smoking a few hippy cigs over Christmas . Probably explains why I was tetchy yesterday...

Loti good luck if you decide to pack it in, you would definitely feel better after a while. Having given up a couple of times before my last successful attempt, I think you really need to want to stop, and if you do then it's easy

GladioliBuckets · 04/01/2010 09:32

I heard about Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter on here, a couple of years ago there was a run on all the Waitroses in the UK thanks to Mumsnet! I use make up remover wipes to cleanse and try not to get my face wet full stop as my skin is so dry.

DH has day off so I am taking car to garage today for expensive diagnostic thingy re mysterious dashboard light. Yawn.

dizzydixies · 04/01/2010 10:52

oh lordy, this girl due here any minute, has already phoned to confirm she is on her way and I am full of homemade soup wind and jitters

she could be the Mary Poppins/Nanny McPhee answer to all our problems or this could be a huge waste of time [meep]

email back from divisional command this morning stating that it was a 'misunderstanding' on their part but thanks for taking time to email them - HA! wankers - scuse french but seriously they insulted DH so therefore annoyed me [woman scorned etc etc]

right am off to wipe kids noses so she doesn't think we're riddled with disease - wish me luck

springaporesling · 04/01/2010 11:41

Dizzy let us know how it goes - wishing you luck!

Miamla many congratulations!

Was considering changing my name back to the original but it is not appropriate yet!

Sorry not to have caught up over the festive period. We ended up celebrating Christmas twice as MIL got here 5 days late after her flight was cancelled. We all had a lovely time though.

Wotcha Sazz a morning of soup and laundry here too. Just got to get laundry on the airer before a friend comes round and off out to the high living that is Exmouth - well just a coffee and cake in Costas.

TwilightSurfer · 04/01/2010 13:09

Hey SingaporeSling I'm confused. It's not appropriated to go back to your last name SoNotExpecting or your last last name Expectant?? Someone wiht more hours awake please correct my nonsense.

It's 15 in the valley and 10 on the mountain this morning. I'm staying undercover as long as I possibly can. Which isn't very because I have errands but the water hasn't reheated from DH's shower so stalling on here.

Reese now has a spectacular sinus thing. It's all in her nasal passages. I'm patiently counting down the days hoping it will pass before she's due back to Mom's Day Out. Kinsley may go to play at school today in their After Care program. She needs it.

Steaky WOW a whole thread. I guess I should know by now MN is has the answer to all questions.

Oops your recommendation is a similar product to what is at my spa. Which reminds me I need to go ahead and make my next facial appointment.

DixieDarling you have me rolling with homemade soup wind. All will be good.

dizzydixies · 04/01/2010 13:21

well I can't see the problem, she seems nice, is charging a reasonable rate, was lovely to the girls, is flexible - there has to be a catch right?!!?

she's coming on Fri to visit with the girls rather than just me and DH and I should hopefully have my shifts worked out by then - if not I'll be going nuclear

girls are watching a dancing thing on the TV and Dylan is going to be a right wee groover -she's danced since before she can walk and is still going bless her obviously gets her rhythm from me

thank the lord for school starting tomorrow though

CaptainCaveman · 04/01/2010 14:02

miamla that is fabbo news and like HP I am a twinge but even so I hope it all goes fabulously swell for you.

Am sneaking on at work (shhhh)

dizzydixies · 04/01/2010 14:08

lol Hots & CC, I'm just blatantly

smoochs to CC, lovely to 'see' you even if you are working

CaptainCaveman · 04/01/2010 14:36

smooches eh?

I even considered getting a puppy to replace my desire for dc3 but then there is the reality of feeding, walking, going on hols etc. I'm not even sure what I want tbh - to be pg or to actually have a 3rd, because the reality of another newborn is a bit . Moot point anyway though as dh is adamant 2 is where we stop. I'll live!

alittlebitshy · 04/01/2010 19:09

Just had a text from miamla so came on to add my congrats!!!!

sorry been awol - horrid sleep ishoos. How can a boy who has gone down happily awake since 6mo be screaming so much at bedtome and in the night?!

making me feel v v down so a bit sad atm

(too me me me so will leave and just say re miamla)

cyteen · 04/01/2010 19:10

Miamla what fantastic, brilliant news, I am totally made up for you all NYE BFPs are the best (well, I tested again the day after my original so I'm counting that as one). If it makes you feel any better about the drinking, I spent that December drunk off my ass pretty much every single day and DS seems to have turned out alright.

Am also a touch - have been randomly convincing myself that I'm pg even though it's hugely unlikely and would be the worst timing EVER, what with September being dissertation deadline and wedding month all rolled into one. But I can't help scrumming over little cuddly babies, mmmmmm.......

Moving swiftly on, I use Baby Bottom Butter on my hands last thing at night because they get so dry with the constant washing. It's too greasy for anywhere else but on the hands it's great.

oops I love Aurelia or Helena with Poppy. Don't ask me about boys' names, we had enough trouble deciding on one. Actually, I think you should go with Joseph

DS had his MMR today and was a real trooper, then we've had a lovely day doing this and that. He is now enjoying a Daddy bedtime, so there is much noise coming from above.

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/01/2010 19:35

Dizzy - are your lot back at school tomorrow? Friends in Dumfries have just had their schools closed tomorrow.

ALBS - are you still feeding in the night? Can DH go in and settle so he doesn't expect boob to calm him. It may take a week or so fro him to realise all the moving about is over and he is safe and sound in his bed every night.
