Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

madmissy · 26/01/2010 14:37

well my first period has arrived im in agony and have never bled so much.

brodie weighs 11lb 15oz now at just under 6 weeks

legscrossed · 26/01/2010 15:27

Is anyone doing 1/2 bf 1/2 ff and if so what hope of periods returning.
My contraception is wholely based on my cycle and fertility and has worked a treat for 8 years n got me pregs in 1 month.
Am desperate for periods to return, Phoebe now 9 weeks no sign yet

madmissy · 26/01/2010 19:04

everyone different so not really sure my friend took 5 months!

im so not happy bunny i am heavy to the point of changing a super plus tampax every 30-60 mins

i want to cry

sparklycheerymummy · 26/01/2010 19:35

oh madmissy I am dreading the return of mine..... you poor thing. Toby was 13lbs 6ozs at 6 weeks...... but is following the second line down on chart nicely and his weight matches his height (well he is over top of top line for height). I dont care about the charts really but people gasp when i tell them how much he weighs so i like to throw the chart back at them!!!!

1petshortofazoo · 26/01/2010 20:01

I'm in a really weird mood tonight, I really wish I could start bf again... I know at the time I wanted to stop as ds wasn't gaining weight but I really miss the closeness and the feeling for some strange reason. I've still got a trickle of milk anyone know how hard it would be or even if it is possible?
Period hasn't arrived here either nearly 6 weeks later.

sparklycheerymummy · 26/01/2010 20:04

not sure but i once saw a program who brought lactation on herself to feed her adopted son by massaging etc..... maybe try a
breast pump on them at regular intervals!! I am loving bf but couldnt do it with my dd..... well didnt really persevere and like you felt bad for not trying harder!!

Moosy · 26/01/2010 20:08

1pet it can be done if you put the time and effort in, get some fenugreek and take 3 capsules 3 times a day. Offer the boob 8 times a day including night time and it will probably come back after a couple of weeks. I'm doing mixed feeding due to her losing weight and it's working well. I bf her as much as I can and offer a bottle if she's isn't full, at the moment she has about 5-10oz a day, mostly in the evening.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/01/2010 20:08

No period here either. Think it might be soon as my tummy is feeling a bit bloated.

Is it bad that im bored already? Not of having Elizabeth obviously, but it occured to me today that I havent spent a couple of hours to myself since she was born and now ive thought about it, it's weighing on my mind!

sparklycheerymummy · 26/01/2010 20:10

I feel weird ABF cos I dont want to do anything that isnt baby and thats worrying me more cos i feel like i should be out partying like one or two of my friends are doing who have babies x

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/01/2010 20:19

Ohh I dont know about partying! I was thinking maybe a quick couple of hours to get me hair done!!
Mind you I have enlisted the grandparents to babysit on the 6th February to see my mates band play. But I doubt I'll be gone all night and getting completely legless

sparklycheerymummy · 26/01/2010 20:22

i need my hair done too........ cant really afford it though! but got a 25% off voucher so that helps x

Claire236 · 26/01/2010 20:27

madmissy - my first period was heavy but nothing like that. You must be feeling pretty rough with blood loss like that.

ds2 has his first jabs on Thurs which I'm not looking forward to. Hopefully he'll be like ds1 & will just sleep for ages afterwards.

ds1 is 5 in about 6 weeks time which has snuck up on me so trying to decide what to do. Definitely having a party, just a matter of where.

GS - sorry you're having trouble with ds still. I can see why you'd hope he had an infection, would definitely be easier to resolve. ds1 is starting to revert to his normal lovely self since dh & I have been making an effort to do more with him. He also helped me dress ds2 this morning which was interesting. I'm sure your ds will come round soon.

madmissy · 26/01/2010 20:41

after dd's it was heavy especially after dd2 as i had retained placenta, had it again this time with ds but this period is ridiculous

tmi but if i stand or move about too much i have to dash too loo its unreal

sparklycheerymummy · 26/01/2010 20:56

oooohhhh that sound awful..... i was like that just after having him! My prob is leaking urine and having no control over the flow..... had post natal check today who said i was fine down there!

madmissy · 26/01/2010 20:59

oh after i had him i wasnt this heavy!!
my bladder was shocking too 3rd big baby so to be expected i couldnt hold mid stream and would sit and cry thankfully lots better not well pretty norm actually
keep dooing your pelvics!

LaDiDaDi · 26/01/2010 21:29

Saying my thanks to Cerazette and bf, hopefully they will keep af away for 8 months or so like last time!

I got the famed "How to talk so kids will listen..." book today, just been reading the first chapter and it's really good. Will try my best to put some of it into practice tomorrow!

damnitdamnit · 28/01/2010 06:19

Im taking Cerazette and bf so hopefully mine toovwont return just yet. Struggling with the bf though as i have too much milk. It seems daft but its really making me want to stop cant miss a feeed unless i express which means i cant ask someone to look after DD2 while i spend time with DD1.

DD1 is starting to want to be a baby all the time. playing up for attention etc.. i am sure its to do with feeding every couple of hours through the day. Got a bf support worker coming to see me on friday.

On the plus side i finally got DD2 weighed she is now 11lb 8oz but i would still like her to take an odd bottle of formula/ebm without me having to express. Wish i could do 50/50 but i think its all or nothing with me.

1pet there is loads of advice on the kellymom website www.kellymom.com if you want to do it.

damnitdamnit · 28/01/2010 06:20

yes i managed to do a link! and it works.

Mybox · 28/01/2010 09:22

1pet - just bf lots & your milk will return. Kellymom is a good link as well.

Here my dd has wind problems & it keeps her up at night when I could do with sleeping. Just busy with the general run around with everyone - Get up & ready, schools, home, busy, schools, afternoon busy , dinner/bath/bed busy then restart.....

1petshortofazoo · 28/01/2010 10:46

Been managing to get ds to nurse 15mins each side before every feed, then pumping every hour for 10mins each side after he's gone to bed and just been to get some fenugreek which tastes horrible lol. Managed to get a spray of milk today so something is working :-)

GoldenSnitch · 28/01/2010 12:26

It's started already!!

Took Catherine for her 6 week check with the Health visitor yesterday and while we were there, she was weighed. She has gone from 3.56kg to 3.66kg in 9 days - but apparently this isn't enough, she has dropped below the line on the graph and I should be considering giving her formula top ups!!

I've got two weeks till the next weigh in to get her back up to the line again or they're going to recommend formula.

I thought we were doing so well this time

On the plus side, DS is getting a little better with potty training again. He's still being difficult but I can cope better when he's not wetting and messing himself so often.

Got to decide on contraception soon. I've got my 6 week check with the doctor on Monday. Is the Pill OK with breastfeeding? I seem to remember being given one when I was feeding DS but deciding not to use it and I can't remember why. DH is going to get the snip so I just need to sort something while we're waiting for that..

1petshortofazoo · 28/01/2010 12:39

GS they can only recommend top ups they cant force you to do it. if you think she is full after a feed, pooing and peeing and happy.

You can take the 'mini pill' while bf, i think the normal pill can reduce your milk supply.

Moosy · 28/01/2010 12:55

Well done 1pet, sounds like you're really putting the time and effort in, keep going!

GoldenSnitch · 28/01/2010 13:01

She's definitely content, alert and peeing - we've not had a poo for almost 3 days now but HV said that was normal and BF babies can go up to 10 days between poos!

Maybe I should try the pumping and Fenugreek too! Sounds like it's working wonders for you - well done!!

And if I can get some expressed milk sorted and in the freezer then I can use that for top ups and maybe even a night out too My friends and I do a "Mum's Night Out" once a month but I had to miss this months as I couldn't/didn't want to leave DD yet.

Scorps · 28/01/2010 14:07
