Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

I've started a thread and had some advice from tiktok and am feeling a little more confident now. Going to up my fluids and food, feed from both boobs whenever she'll take it and carry on as normal. She's not getting re-weighed for another 2 weeks so hopefully, she'll be back up on her percentile line by then.

The other advice was to just not take her to get weighed! I suppose as long as she looks well, her weight doesn't really matter. Must not let myself get too tied up with stupid graphs that mean nothing at the end of the day.

LaDiDaDi · 28/01/2010 19:55

Well, dd had been behaving beautifully this week until today when she hit ds in the face !

She was tired as she'd woken up an hour earlier than usual and then after nursery I'd taken her to a cafe with a soft play area. She'd had a lovely time but by the time we came to leave I could tell that she as overtired and hot from running around. She'd had a couple of silly upsets/tantrums but I was calm and empathetic with her (can you tell I've been reading new book?) and she left fine.
We were in the car park when she started to walk on a boulder barrier type thing. I asked her not to, busy car park yadda ydda, then when she started to climb on the next one I got her down and told her not to do it as I couldn't let her climb and runaway from me when I had ds to look after too. Cue dd hitting ds in the face! Luckily he was well padded in his car seat on the buggy wheels and she only managed a little blow but still . Was very cross and shouty with her, she fell asleep in the car and when we got home I talked to her about it, said that I was sorry that I couldn't do things with her sometimes because of ds but that even if she got cross about it she wasn't to hit ds. When ds woke up I made her apologise to him and told her that he was feeling a little bit worried and frightened of her now.
Dp told her that he was disappointed when he heard about it at tea-time. Really upset about it, really wanted to hit her as a sort of reaction to her hitting my lovely baby but thankfully didn't.

I think I've learnt that perhaps I've thought that she wasn't jealous at all whereas actually although sh loves ds she still feels a bit resentful if I can't do things because of him. I'm going to phrase things much more carefully and not blame ds for not doing things if I can avoid it.

Sorry that Catherine isn't gaining weight as well as you hoped GS. I would just ry to bf her as frequently as possible and def. offer both sides (lunch and pudding I say).

Cerazette is a progesterone only pill that you can take whilst bf and which gives you a 12 hour window to remember to take it in rather than 3hours like most others do.

Oh and hello Scorps!

Pleased that you and lacey are doing well, how are your other dc?

GoldenSnitch · 28/01/2010 20:16

What book are you reading LaDiDaDi It sounds like I could do with it too!!

I'm BF-ing whenever Catherine seems even remotely interested and am hoping I can get her fattened up before the next weigh in to avoid the "top-up" advice again. Someone reminded me today that all they can do is suggest it - I don't have to do it - but still, I'd rather not get into a battle with the HV's.

What's Cerazette like for weight gain? I have to lose this baby weight (plus more) before August as the in-laws are paying for the whole family to go to Portugal in late July as thier 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration and I cannot sit next to my SIL by the pool weighing what I do. I've just about gotten out of my maternity jeans and into my 'fat' jeans but I want my normal jeans to be roomy before I even consider stripping off anywhere near her!!

Have been popping in and out of your other thread Scorps, you sound like you're doing well. Keep remembering that he doesn't deserve you and enjoy your night out

LaDiDaDi · 28/01/2010 20:33

I'm reading this, Chapter 1 read so far

No weight gain last time when I was on Cerazette, I've got 1/2 stone to lose before I'm back to pre-preg weight. Weight is all on tummy and boobs, guess which one I'm bothered about ??

OP posts:
GoldenSnitch · 28/01/2010 20:54

Ordered

I've got about 3 stones to lose altogether. Can only blame Catherine for 1 - 1.5

Claire236 · 29/01/2010 09:10

Just a quick word of warning for anyone thinking about taking Cerazette. I was on it previously & it made me feel terrible - really depressed. There have also been threads on here from people who've had bad experiences with it. I'm sure it suits some people but it seems to badly affect more people than other mini pills.

ds2 had his jabs yesterday & was miserable all day afterwards. Walked the long way round to pick ds1 up from school to get ds2 to go to sleep.

We've got yet more snow here. I'm so sick of it. It's been snowing for hours & hasn't stopped yet.

I'm carrying an extra 1/2 stone from my pre pregnancy weight. I'm not so bothered about the weight but definitely need to tone up tummy, thighs & bum. Got Hannah Watermans exercise DVD which is really good but alarmingly knackering. Am so unfit.

kingsroadie - have you seen the paed yet? Are things getting any easier with your little one?

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/01/2010 09:23

Just checking in to say Hi to everyone. I am exhausted. Fergus is a crazy feeder - never gone more than 2 hrs day or night. He weighs 15lb 9oz at 6 weeks . He's really hard work though and seems perpetually unhappy/in pain.

We've tried Gaviscon for possible silent reflux. He's had terrible thrush. Got a second session with a cranial osteopath this afternoon. GP thinks he might have a slight ear infection and is showing signs of teething . Its been a looooong 6 weeks and I am struggling . DD was such a chilled baby so its all a bit of a shock.

Got an appointment with Pead this morning and I've got to try and get a urine sample from him. Obviously, despite him normally weeing on me almost every time I take his nappy off, he's absolutely refused to do it the last 24 hours when I've been lying him with nappy off trying to "catch" some in a pot Little sod !!

Off to try and catch up on rest of thread now....

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/01/2010 11:15

Hi there. Am I ever going to have non snotty children this winter? Yet again Jake has a cough, he is off nursery with it and now Elizabeth is blocked up and coughing again. Nightmare.
She's sleeping really well through night now, we put her to bed at about 7ish and then top her up at 10pm which lasts her till 3am im happy as larry with that!

I also need to tone up my tummy, I actually weigh less then I did before getting pregnant but the weight loss is off my arms, arse, legs and face. When im feeling a bit more energetic I might do something about it! atm just walking to the school and back again twice a day seems to be doing some good.

GS, I wouldnt worry to much about the charts (easier said than done I know!) like others have said as long as she is happy, peeing and pooing then you are doing the right thing. The HV cant make you give her formula. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing really well!

We're all going to my sisters tonight. She lives about an hour away so we will be stopping overnight, first time since Elizabeth was born. So this will be interesting!

The humidifier has worked a treat for snotty noses and coughs in our house xx

LaDiDaDi · 30/01/2010 08:34

Sorry Fergus is so unhappy, TilyScoutmum, but what a big lad he is! DS will get weighed on Wednesday, think he'll be around the 9lb mark at 6 weeks.

Around 3 inches of snow here overnight [miserable sod emoticon]. Going to have a lazy day again and then take dd to my parents this afternoon, she's going to stay there tonight. Would love to be able to take her sledging but dp's at work and can't manage it by myself with ds.

Anyone else got snow? Any exciting plans?

sparklycheerymummy · 30/01/2010 11:31

Tillscouts mum..... Toby is probably about the same weight and I have discoveed Gripe water for after feeds or when he seems gripey or whittery..... it shuts him up! Tobster gets tummy ache as he is a greedy guts!!

sparklycheerymummy · 30/01/2010 11:33

Tillscoutsmum...... just out of interest how much did he weigh at birth???? Toby was 10lb 11ozs!

anniebigpants · 30/01/2010 11:59

Weve got lots of snow here Ladidadi, but i think im not too far away from you, gonna put DS2 in the sling (have a Kari me and i love it) and take DS1 sledging.
Got Ellis weighed on Wednesday, he was 9 wks excactly and weighed 13lb 4oz, so hes gained almost 5lb in 9 weeks . He had his jabs on Wednesday and had a really high temp on the night, we gave him paracetamol liquid which the nurse had given us a prescription for, but we had a really bad night sleep wise.
He still only going just over 3 hours between feeds on a night, im trying to feed him as much as he,ll take during the day in th hope that he,ll go longer, but to no avail yet .
Have good weekend everyone.

Tillyscoutsmum · 30/01/2010 13:22

sparkly - he was 10lb 5oz. We've tried gripe water and infacol etc. GP now definitely thinks double ear infection and perforated ear drum. We've got calpol and that helps and he seems much calmer today so he's hopefully on the mend. I can live with the 2 hour feeding but hate the crying/screaming/grumbling every waking moment

No snow here (yet !) but its blardy cold

legscrossed · 30/01/2010 18:38

kingsroadie, a tip from a mum of 3 at baby clinic in the waiting room was hungry baby formula. Hers was same age as mine but slept thru 11 till 6 am ! We have to do a midnight 2 4 6 etc!!!!
Admittedly her baby was chunky on the stuff and I would like my dd to be able to start walking as soon as!
However I do bout 70% bottle n 30% breast (breast daytime only) normal aptimil otherwise but from 6-8 pm onwards been giving hungry baby stuff n she goes 11 to almost 5 am!!!!! A revelation. Happened 3 nights on the trot now so I'm hoping thats the routine! Prob jinxed myself now!
Also major puking n reflux mainly at night, you can get infant gaviscon without presc. and it can be administered just in the bottle with their milk which solves the night time fears of aspirating into lungs while in the cot.

madmissy · 30/01/2010 18:47

be warned though in some babies the hungry formula can lead to upset tum as its alot heavier than the normal first formula.

think i switched fairly early with dd2 to it and she was ok but dd1 caused her upset

ds is still every 3 hours day and night 2 hours is knackering and i would defo try the hungry baby form

ds did however manage 10 til 3 last night which was fab but thast first time its happened and then woke again at 6 so back to the 3hr routine lol

legscrossed · 30/01/2010 18:56

I did ring aptimil people to see what the deal was and they said the only difference was a 'longer' protein which is more complex and takes the gut longer to break down, didnt want to be giving something thats just full of alot of bulk.
this 'other mum' was using sma and I get the impression that is full of 'bulk'

madmissy · 30/01/2010 19:07

ahhhh i use aptamil thats good to know!

yeah sma i do avoid as everyone i know seems to have probs with it and being to heavy

GoldenSnitch · 30/01/2010 21:23

No snow here - it's just really, really cold!!

Had a nightmare day with DS on friday. Took him to a friends house and he ended up hitting 4 out of the other 5 toddlers there - and me!! I was mortified He was really tired from being woken up the night before so I made our excuses and left early. Was convinced he'd fall asleep in the car on the way home but his eyes were only just dropping as we pulled up on our drive. Brought him in and tried a DVD under a blanket but as I was setting it all up he tried to hit DD for crying!!! He watched 3/4 of the DVD then went and switched it off and started throwing cars around the lounge and hit me some more when I asked him to stop. I ended up putting him in his room as I was so mad (and so tired from only getting 2 hours sleep the night before) that I was getting dangerously close to hitting him back and needed him out of the way. He fell asleep up there within minutes and was a much nicer boy when he woke up.

We all got a better nights sleep last night (DD did 6 hours!) and has been lovely again today. I miss my lovely boy. I wish I could have him back all the time.

Fingers crossed for a good nights sleep tonight and another good day tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is doing OK...

sparklycheerymummy · 30/01/2010 22:42

Feeling ropey here but have a bit of an AF which i thought i wou;dnt come back yet due to breast feeding. ds is sleeping 9 - 10 hours at night but is probably about 14lbs at least now so am not waking him to feed...... does anyone actually do that.

I empathise Snitch..... my dd is not lashing out but turning moody and trying to make me feel bad..... even though i am expressing more so i can spend time with her!!!

My prob is dp being a lazy t**t but putting on the mr helpful act when anyone is around!!! grrrrrrrrrr

sparklycheerymummy · 30/01/2010 22:44

I know I am very lucky with ds sleep..... i know it will prob change. But dd had every problem going so i do know i am lucky this time round.... he just likes his bed and sleep..... not done anything special and can only put it down to his size being so healthy!!
