Hello all. Have read and smiled a lot (esp at your news Tree - fantastic) but can't think of words right now. Am feeling a bit down lately - sorry to be a drag off the back of such wonderful news. Life is draining, too busy. I wish I could just say to DH 'We're having a day off' argh, it'll get better of course, after Christmas and I shouldn't moan. Am tired that's all.

Off to clean house for visitors tomorrow, will stop in tomorrow with more festive cheer

No festive smileys yet.

Sorry you are down and tired out Lenni. Life is too busy, it whooshes right past me. Sometimes I look at it and think - that looks nice, wish I was taking part. And it's my blooming life!!!

120cmsOfSnow · 13/12/2009 21:25

Lenni, sorry you are feeling down. Can you express and get a proper night off from the feeding?

I've had a really hard three months with H feeding all the time, esp. at night with some weeks of 2 hour nightly feeds and then DD getting up at 4.30. I had enough last week and bootcamped them both. I then moved H into DD's room yesterday. The babymon switched itself off overnight so I had a really good nights' sleep.

I think the feeding is sooo wearing. Anyone who says BF doesn't make you tired hasn't done it recently as far as I'm concerned. I've only had five months off from it since May 2007!

Sorry to go on, just I think that being knackered can really colour everything, esp with xmas to contend with as well.

tinkerbellstinkerbells · 14/12/2009 10:43

Have just caught up, not because I was having a life or anything, I was online a lot of the weekend but not on mumsnet, I've been discovering various book related websites.

Stripey, that's a big drop in income - whichever government gets elected will be out to get public sector workers here too but ouch at 8% pay cuts. And how disgusting you can't be recognised as a family over there.

Tree, well done you.

Gumps, I'd like another too but I really can't manage the same age gap again (21 months), both have had several bad nights recently, however, I do think it will be nice in future to have had them quite close. Mad? Maybe you are, but brave too, and I'd say go for it. Just because I want the vicarious excitement of other people's pregnancies and babies, really.

missjackson · 14/12/2009 15:41

Hi everyone... have attempted a catch up but now in tears at trees fab news - am pretending my contact lenses have slipped ...

120 I feel your pain. Am knackered knackered knackered.... nearly a year and not one whole night's sleep. Not one... I don't like to complain, but...knackered! Hope this attachment parenting pays off in later years!

Had some sort of infection on Friday, so probably tired from that too - raging temp and could barely crawl to bathroom, thought I was going down with the flu - slept all Sat (except for 3 hourly feeds - N not me! and felt fine by Sun. Phew! Don't get paid if I am off sick so am very relieved.

dog about illicit snogs. I have nightmares sometimes like that. Hope DP understands and forgives you soon.

Sounds like there have been some good nights out, gumps too - like you Lenni I am still feeding through the night, so no drunken fun for me - I have a big glass of wine or a beer most nights though.

N finally got a tooth! My sunny happy baby has turned into a grizzly nightmare overnight, so I really hope it doesn't last. Poor little man. Can't get Calpol into him without major trauma, so we are relying on the powders and gel (also difficult to get in his mouth)

Anyway, must go back to work, sorry for lack of proper catch up.

Lenni You are probably bone tired too, if you feel anything like me... important to eat well etc when we are still feeding such whoppers. I know you know that already. Sending you hugs anyway x

120cmsOfSnow · 14/12/2009 17:01

yay for N's tooth

Dog; I'm impressed! I used to tell people I had a snog pass (which meant I could get away with snogging anyone when drunk). It was fine for years until DP used his snog pass. I was sooooo angry with him! Lol. Needless to say that stopped me from doing it again.

I can't remember who knits! I know someone else's DP was laughing at them at the same time as mine when I went into knitting mode whilst preggers...

Well I went a bit mad in a Devon wool shop and for some random reason got 5 balls of this because it was on special offer .

Don't know what to do with it as suspect it will look hideous, but thought I might try a gilet for DD. Has anyone got a pattern or a better idea? Otherwise might just flog it on ebay and cut my losses.

romanesco · 14/12/2009 20:03

oops. tis 120 here.

hackneyzoowithbellson · 14/12/2009 21:16

Hey Romanesco, got a few knitting books and patterns (Debbie Bliss ones)...you are welcome to have a lend....I am the world's slowest knitter.

Completely exhausted, J has had a temp for the last 24 hours, got about 3 hours sleep last night, poor thing, he is all shivery and hot. Rang NHS direct and they just said keep an eye on him. Will be propping eyes open with match stick tomorrow at work.

Get you lot with your snog passes...hope DP is ok Dog. Hows your hangover? Have you recovered... it seems to have been a drunken weekend for quite a few on this thread

Dad seems a lot better today when I talked to him and my brother was with hm, so feeling less worried..for now.

What I wouldn't give for a full 12 hours sleep right now.

Anyone watching Amanda Holden having a go at being a midwife....think I would have punched her if she was mine.

PatTheHammer · 14/12/2009 21:36

Sorry, I have been stonkingly ill so largely absent. Still ill and off work tomorrow but still feeding the boy at night and DH has decided he is iller (never allowed to be ill on my own!)so no proper rest for me either!

Yay for tree and the egg who would have thought that the first bit of pregnancy news on this thread would have been one of us getting someone else pregnant??

Yay for tooth, missJ!

Tink-you ok now??

Gumps- Have you recovered?? Hilarious story

Dog, Zach is 23lbs or thereabouts but I think the boys were always mammoth on this thread compared to the girlys. Is it just because she is more active?? Z hasn't put any weight on in months as he runs about all the time.
Oh and, NAUGHTY girl your dp is very understanding

HKZ- your tales of DD being very unimpressed with the old codger made me chuckle, I now have a DD with a pathological fear of the red-hatted one (and after I crawled out of my pit on saturday to take her to see him). He will be at playgroup on friday so we shall see how that pans out!

Nativity on friday, woo-hoo!! Angel outfit has arrived and she does actually look angelic (appearances can be so deceptive).

Had DS's parents evening at nursery and it was so lovely. I got to see his little learning journey with loads of photos of stuff he does all day, it was so cute!! There were some shots of him visiting DD in the pre-school room and the look of joy on their faces as they saw each other was heart-melting. they clearly put loads of effort into it too which really made me pleased that he is in the right environment, considering how worried I was about a nursery for him in the summer.

Off to wallow in my plague pit now, and put up with DH's moaning........

SherryMerryLennipillar · 14/12/2009 23:12

here is a heavily smiley'd catch up since too bloody knackered for a proper one:

Dog
HKZ ((hugs)) for J, hope he is better soon
120 to knitting ideas, I love knitting but ideas are short atm!
MissJ Glad you are better, you speak sense
Stripey
Elkie Glad MN has lured you back
Xmas far too busy here too Tink, hope your ADs start working soon

Am feeling better sort of and overwhelmed. I take on too much, I must learn to say no to people. This is my new mantra, it'll last an hour or so I'd say

Must off, back soon x

SherryMerryLennipillar · 14/12/2009 23:14

Paaaaatttt Nice to have you back.

Dog - you don't want to know what my porker weighs, but he has also lost weight lately due to being so active and dropping a feed in the night (I didn't mention that btw, as would involve sod and his law and things) so perhaps it is just normal right now.

welcome back Pat hope you are feeling much better today. Hello Elkie.

Morning all . Ahhhh. Sleep. Lovely.

HZ: I'm inclined to sell the wool on ebay and get some nice debbie bliss stuff and borrow your books. Going to spend xmas knitting while the family look after the kids (I've got xmas at my parents with MIL and PIL too!). . And my siblings and their offspring are cunning staying abroad so lots of grand parents and only two kids.

I'm really excited as a German relative wants to sell my baby massage poster in Germany and get it translated! .

Right. off to majestic to buy the presents for the nursery staff to thank them for caring for my little monsters angels all year.

By the way, H is now sleeping through in DD's room so I'm pretty sure he was just getting cold in ours (it has external walls dontcha know so reaches artic temps around 2.30 in the morning). Four months of waking for the sake of a heater. Grrr. I'm an idiot. DD doesn't like his grunting and singing in the night so has decided to sleep on the sofa in the living room instead . Can't blame her really. I'm absolutely delighted to have him out of my room.

tinkerbellstinkerbells · 15/12/2009 09:47

morning

120cmsOfSnow · 15/12/2009 09:53

hi tink... you sound like you are PG!!

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 15/12/2009 10:09

Hi all.

Poor you Tink - I think they can make you all heady and tired. So can being up the duff........

Congrats 120!! Wow! How are the posters going? Link into them again please? I couldn't see the wool, but if it is 100% I might be interested.....nappy covers dontchaknow?

Welocme back Pat - missed you. Hope everyone gets better soon. We had week of ill last week, I feel really out of the thread

Dog - glad dp is understanding. I guess these things happen...although would possible wrap LeCruset pan around DH should he ever . Good you told him though, that will mean a lot to him. x

Maybe dd2 needs her own house room....? Where do I get one of those??

DD2 is at the consultants tomorrow. Remember that last fiasco when dd1 ended up in A&E and we had to stay in a hotel?? Hoping for better journey tomorrwo. Could do without 3 hours in a car witht he baby that screams in a car seat, on my own. Arse.

Have had a really tough time with dd1 and school, so if I am a bit distracted and out of it I have a load on my mind. Sorry.
