HKZ I bet you can't wait for 2010 and some good luck to come your way. So sorry to hear about your dad. It's very difficult when you now have to act as the parent and make tough choices. You sound like you care a lot and I am sure you will all come to the right decision. Just make sure it is right for you too as you have an awful lot on your plate.
So sad to hear about all the poorly, birthday babies. Hope they all get well soon. Mine are on the 9th percentile normally and are fairly rubbish eaters. S is better than ds1 but still not brilliant. At the moment he calls all food 'nana' and gets so over excited if he does get a banana. He drank his bottle himself in his push cahir today for the first time ever!
Dog how are you feeling? Lenni I am with you, would so give birth over being pregnant again. Infact if someone could hand me a 6 mo that sleeps through the night that would be perfect.

Wedding was fantastic. All our old friends from Cheltenham, a great band and a free bar. What more do you need?! On a post Christmas downer as dh refusing to go out for ny. Bought nice food and fizz today but not cutting it for me. I am a party girl!

120cmsOfSnow · 30/12/2009 20:28

HZ sorry to hear about your dad. Its a really hard thing to go through. My dad had to do the same with his mum a while back and she didn't want to move as she saw it as the beginning of the end, but he had no choice as she really couldn't be supported at home. She settled in really well (still moaned, but she did that all her life anyway!), especially as she could have her own stuff in her room, which helped loads. Sorry. Rambling.

Tink, that sounds like a hell of a trip. Well done for getting through it.

Still haven't really decided what to do tomorrow night. May end up going round the corner for a drink with neighbours, then bringing the babies back home as I just know how intolerable DD gets when she is tired and can't face ruining anyone else's New Year's Eve! I just can't wait until they are old enough to stay up and drink champagne . About 8 then.

120cmsOfSnow · 30/12/2009 20:41

lol. I started my post at 7 when feeding H and only just manage to finish it. Couldn't understand where all the extra posts had come from in a few minutes. Duh.

SherryMerryLennipillar · 30/12/2009 20:46

We've had both sides of the coin with grandparents. My Gran is still at home at 98 and it causes no end of problems - I very much wish someone had been brave enough to take the decision and she'd gone into somewhere warden controlled. She falls all the time at home and it really is a sad mess of a situation. On the other hand DH's Nan went into a retirement place a few years back and although she has settled well she really would have managed at home and the twinkle in her eye has gone, I think she finds it depressing. However, in years to come it will probably be a blessing that she made the decision to move whilst she was still fit and well.

Nothing planned here for tomorrow night sadly. Maybe next year!

Not sure what to suggest with horse Dog - think depends who you could find to loan to. Would be fine if someone nice, but otherwise I think emotionally might be easier to sell than see there be issues iyswim.

DD eating!!! Yay! Got to see HV tom to be weighed again on proper scales and then review with GP next week. If wheeze hasn't cleared by next week also needs inhaler - am sorely tempted to give her a bit of DS's to help her sleep better but haven't. Said to focus on snacks rather than meals, thought that was wise advice as takes the pressure off.

Hope things better chez Stripey. Think I might be on the wagon with you in Jan - have been eating like I'm about to go into hibernation this week.

Tree - DD1 really goes through it doesn't she? She sounds so lovely too, I hope things are better for her soon.

Hello everyone, just need to keep bookmarking and one day I will catch up!

How are all the poorly bubbas?? tree, Stripey, Lenni, hope all well soon. Lenni is right about the protein and simple carbs dog. think of the malnutrition in Africa, they can't send loads of fatty stuff as they can't synthesise it very well and I guess the same for underweight babies. Although, Isla sounds very healthy (when not pukingIYSWIM) so I would just resign myself to the fact she is small.
Lenni, Party later in the year sounds fab and you sound so fab and organised!

MissJ: Z and D are one next week!!

Just planning the party at the moment actually, was a small affair and has now turned into 6 adults, 7 toddlers and 4 babies, arrggghhhhh (plus me, DD and DS too!). I have asked DH to book afternoon off now as I'm not sure I can cope! He was not best pleased as its the start of the montha nd he doesn't want time off to 'make cups of tea for women' as he puts it .
Still, won't criticise him too much as his time off is doing wonders for our relationship (in more ways than one....).

Gumps- We are staying in NYE as well, so will join you with the virtual fizz and nibbles. i am quite pleased tbh as i have had some shocking NYE's and rather hate it, it all gets so hyped up. the best ones are a small party at a friends house I find. we have been invited to one but can't get sitter

Dog- How exciting!! I would love, love, love to be at someones labour, any old bugger would do (in fact i am free in august should you need a hand).

Tink- what a nightmare!!! Yet just squizzed your photos and you look like you are having a rare old time, well done for the brave faces!! Oh, and Bracken looks about 18mths old with her proper hairdo!! So sweet .

HZ- Sorry about your Dad, we have DH's gramp with a similar thing, he will NOT be moved come hel or high water. Hope it sorts itself out.

Anyway, we had a fab xmas at my sisters and both the DC's loved it. Z had to be forcibly removed from the dinner table after a few hours, he was in his element. DD loved all her new toys but my god she has been hard, hard work in excited, choclated up mode! My advice is NOT to sleep a 3 and 6 yr old in the same room on xmas eve, they got bugger all sleep and were up at 5.59am!!!. In fact, by 6.10am DD had shredded the contents of her stocking and eaten the head of her chocolate santa.
the rest of the hols has been great, they are both waking up about 9.15am most mornings, which is heaven.

Oh, and Z now has all 4 molars (was a bit painful xmas night and boxing day, used about half a bottle of calpol, but he seems ok now) and is back to feeding normally after a bit of a nursing strike.

Must go, got to sort out house for some friends coming round for lunch tomorrow, now why is it even though we did not have xmas here it still bloody looks lke we did!!!

congrats for your friend dog! sounds like an amazing night.

PatTheHammer · 31/12/2009 10:10

Congrats to your friend Dog!!! Details later please

BTW, wasn't calling you an old bugger as I clearly know you are about 200 yrs younger than me!

Errr, anyone having the problem of too much poo??? Z is crapping for england, he has about 5 big smelly nappies a day, surely this is wrong??? Is this just Christmas indulgence, I am hoping it won't last but I suppose in the long-term we could supply fertiliser to third-world countries

120cmsOfSnow · 31/12/2009 10:14

oooh! If you want to send her a free baby massage poster, email me at [email protected] with her address & name and I'll post one out for you.

Pat, your Christmas sounds really cool. I was a bit too uptight to give H any chocolate.

I've just started to plan H's party... Initial tally for guest list 67 adults, 35 children and 9 babies! Lol. Thats going to take some organising. With the summer ones for DD we just do a byo picnic in the park. I'd never really realised the consequences of winter babies. (no more sex in Spring for me).

tinkerbellstinkerbells · 31/12/2009 12:56
