morning, just a quick recipe list post: these are the things I used to make for DD. Would be lying if I said I still make these for DS as those were PFB inspired meals:

Oat pancakes (Porridge with grated apple or some kind of fruit, mixed with egg & flour to make batter& fried)
Mushrooms on toast (L loves portabella mushrooms fried in butter with parsley & cut into strips)
Cheese on toast (Grilled - we haven't tried this yet)
Apple or banana fritters
Polenta Biscuits
Courgette fritters (grated courgette with chick pea flour & water & cheese)
mini Samosa/pasty (Short crust pastry filled with cooked stew or veg or Ratatouille & shallow fried or baked)
Veg wedges
Fishcakes (leftover mash mixed with herbs & tin of tomato sardines & egg yolk. mash together, roll in polenta, fry til golden, freeze!)
Meatballs (breadcrumbs, egg, mince, herbs - chicken & apricot/lamb & raisin/beef & apple)
Pies (shepherds pie with puy lentils/ratatouille with cheesy mash etc)
Kebabs (mince again, formed into spears and grilled/baked/fried/bbq)
Tortelloni (those 2 for 1 filled things you get in Sainsbury/Tesco... or make yourself!)
Polenta: (L loves this) boil polenta with water, dried apricot, cheese, herbs, olive oil, frozen peas for 5 mins. pour into bowl to set. cut into fingers or spoon feed. you can mix anything into it, put cheese on top and grill it, etc.
cooked Brown rice with mashed avocado
cooked puy lentils and onions with brown rice and cheese

xpost. happy birthday S.

right. off swimming.

HZ I know a couple of experts who can help including one at the MOC if you can make it down this way next week. Otherwise Barley at fabrications on broadway market is lovely and will definitely help you!

PatTheHammer · 20/12/2009 13:57

120-that is a great list of food, just copied and pastesd it....you are so clever!

Gumps-happy birthday to S for yesterday, only 2 weeks and a bit till Z is one. Hope he had a great day, how sweet does DS1 sound, he is so lovely and gorgeous, I am not surprised you want another!

I have a very hungover DH and Zach woke up SEVEN times last night in the hotel room (although bizarrely was good as gold for the baby-sitter and only started waking when i got back up to the room at 11.30pm!) DH crawled in at 2.30am and is feeling thoroughly ashamed of himself. I only had one glass of wine as I got rather drunk on friday and drinking two nights in a row is out of the question at my age!!

HKZ- impressive Ikea trip!

Be back later!

SherryMerryLennipillar · 20/12/2009 16:41

HKZ - Unravelling mistakes not usually too difficult, go slow and catch the stitches on a needle as you go and you'll be fine. If it is loads you need to unravel then just pull each line out and make sure you are not losing any stitches before pulling the next. Or like 120 suggested just take it to any wool shop and they will help you.

Heavy snow all day here - we have about 4 inches on the ground now and a good inch or two of ice underneath that. I spun my car yesterday and DH spun his today - both 4x4s - not sure if the Christmas hols are going to have to start now in this house, shame I have no food and we are pretty much stuck! At least we've finally finished the trimmings!

Very jealous of all these hangovers.

Happy Birthday S - 1yo, where has it gone? Hope you had a fab day.

Pat - we had rubbish night here too. DS woke at midnight and seemed to think it was morning I am tired.

SherryMerryLennipillar · 21/12/2009 12:57

a full foot of snow outside now, is getting very exciting! We're a tinsy bit stuck though - not sure how we're going to get the turkey! Have fun with your girls Tink.

OP posts:
missjackson · 21/12/2009 15:12

Lenni how exciting for you! How far to the nearest clear road? Maybe you need to launch an expedition backed up by mountain buggy?! You could get the turkey taxi-ed to the end of your lane... do keep us updated! Am [green] - the snow here is all melting now and it all looks a bit grim.

Happy birthday S!

Great list of food 120 - I am inspired by the polenta.

hkz very impressed at your ikea trip.

pat did you have a fun night despite lack of booze? at OH.

Nice weekend here in London - farmers market, then friend's party with lots of kids there for N to hang with - he is being so sweet and adorable at the moment, I feel like I want him to stay just like this forever

Where is Moose?

missjackson · 21/12/2009 15:12

LOL at [green] - I meant.

Gumps · 21/12/2009 19:33

Not sure if I am jealous or not of being snowed in Lenni. Lovely if you are all together and have everything ready but if no food. Good luck! I seem to remember no snow for years and S has already seen snow twice the lucky boy.
Pat that does not sound like a fun night. Cheeky Z could obviously smell your milk! Hope dh makes it up to you over the hols and you get some 'me' time.
Had such a lovely few days here. The party yesterday was fab - ball pit in the kitchen was my best brain wave as both the babies and toddlers loved it. So much food left over and most of it naughty. Got the big wedding a week today but dh is away in kl so me and a full fridge alone is a bad combination which will ruin all my efforts to look trim....
Anyone else who has dairy free bambinos the yellow cake in the recipe section is fab. I am no kind of cook but it was so easy to do and looked failry impressive too. I even managed to get some dairy free buttons and marshmallows to decorate it with. Also made dairy free pizza smiley faces. I was actually very proud of myself!
Still got mountains to do before Christmas so best crack on.

Gumps · 21/12/2009 19:34

LOL at I just took green as
Was wondering about moose as haven't seen her since I have been back.

PatTheHammer · 21/12/2009 20:58

Oh dear, Lenni have you built an igloo yet????.

Hope you got out to get the turkey (I'm sure there are loads of wild geese/ducks around by you, just send OH out with a shotgun!

Gumps, party sounds lovely, ball pit a great idea.

MissJ- Well, I have just seen the 'cast' list as such, i am already looking forward to it, 'U can't touch this........'. Party was ok even though you do normally need copious amounts of booze to cope with these corporate things. Food at the do was ok for once and the breakfast.......amazing!!! Myself and Z had about 4 courses, whilst DH sat there with a cuppa, too ill to eat. Serves him right for worshipping at the altar of Jack daniels all night (I did make him change two very vile nappies of Z's on sunday [evil emoticon])
Bless baby 'eye being all adorable, I know what you mean. Z won over legions of fans after his guest appearance at the xmas do at the weekend. Melting hearts left right and centre these gorgeous scrummy boys!!

Moose- hope you are well and enjoying xmas

Gumps · 21/12/2009 22:13

yes!!

Gumps · 22/12/2009 19:09

Wow no one has been on since last night???!!
Clearly you are doing things I should be doing (wrapping, watching Delia to learn how to cook a sodding turkey)
as dh still away and wanted lots to read. Oh and someone else to be excited about the festive icons...

120cmsOfSnow · 22/12/2009 20:39

lol Gumps. I came on and found no-one so went off to read the MN appeal thread. Its amazing.

tinkerbellstinkerbells · 22/12/2009 22:03

have a great christmas everyone

we are off tomorrow

only an inch of snow here!!

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 22/12/2009 22:12

Hi all,

Back from Alton Towers and night at mums. Now have to wrap so can't stop for gossips. Will be back asap.

x

120cmsOfSnow · 23/12/2009 09:14

come on tree... how did it go?

stripeywoollensantahat · 23/12/2009 10:54

morning all

dp and her mum have taken c out on a jaunt into the frost (after much humming and hawing on my part, as she has a cold - it's freezing but she hasn't had any fresh air for days...) so i have a minute to mumsnet no snow here - lenni, i hope you have managed to get out by now, at least to restock on bad-for-you christmas food.
pat, you are an evil lady - icky nappies with a whiskey hangover is punishment indeed... tree, hope alton towers was fun and tink, i hope your christmas with your inlaws goes well

it's all getting quite festive here - stacks of presents under the tree, loads of nice wine in the house... i have been wandering around singing 'deck the halls' quite tunelessly, c is sadly not impressed...

best clear up (it doesn't seem fair to have to do this much wiping even at christmas) so, in case i don't manage to get back before the big day:

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

ps. gumps, am also excited by xmas emoticons [fsaddo]

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 23/12/2009 13:29

Ok - AT was fabby. I really snowed the night before, and its a 4 hour drive at best of times. So we were leaving at 6am, but on the morning iot was minus 10 and very dark. We left at 8.30 instead.

Had a brilliant time, most of the baby rides that were supposed to open didn't as they were frozen, which was a shame. DD1 loved the water park, more so even than Feb. SHe is changing all the time. But then she had a roaring temp in Feb. DD2 also loved the water park

I dunno if it's lingering tummy bug or what [dh was up to have d&V whilst we were there] but she did another chicken korma all over the water park. Thank GOD she wasn't in the water!!! The swim nappy failed to cope. The high chair she was sat in was condemed [sp?] by the staff

So, thanks for the food info folks. She is eating a few spoons of various breafkfast porridge int he am, but that is it. 120 - I think I should pay you to send food parcels to my house, that all sounds lovely!!

Gumps - I love the Christmas faces. Especially him > and him >

Safe journey Tink, I hope the trip is ok for you and dd1. SHe is probably quite well rested by now, they have had a nice few days between breaking up and the festive bedlam that is Christmas.

Where is Moose? Just mega busy with Christmas I guess.

I have loads to do.

hackneyzoowithbellson · 23/12/2009 14:17

Ho ho ho...just bookmarking, will be back later...hangover from hell, DH, a friend and myself managed to drink all the Cava I'd bought for Christmas last night...my head really really hurts....tryingt o find the jamie recipe for turkey that was on J's Christmas the other night...anyone remember the recipe?

120cmsOfSnow · 23/12/2009 14:23

Tree the korma sounds grim! I think the d&v thing we had lasted around 4 days. Then there was a bit of the opposite where nothing came out and they were eating like troopers. Was very scared of the final outcome .

I'm having a problem using the festive emoticons as I use the f to mean something very different so fshock means something different to me!

Ah. All is calm here. H is sleeping and L has been with my mum since yesterday morning. No excuses not to get the house tarted up, yet am lingering over mnet, a mince pie and a cuppa. Lovely. Think I'll read the guardian mag from Sat next, and put my feet up. There is no point in tidying... it'll only get messy again .

missjackson · 23/12/2009 15:27

Hi everyone.

LOL at Cava drinking hkz, sounds fun!

Loving the festive smileys ...

tree your trip sounds wonderful.

Very busy here at work (cast list still not all confirmed!) and driving straight home to Wales afterwards, but just popped on really to say:

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MY DEAR JAN 09 FRIENDS - MUMS, BABIES, DCs and DPs

What a year it's been - thanks for all the sharing and caring, and here's to another year of your wonderful (mostly virtual) company!

120cmsOfSnow · 23/12/2009 17:53

xpost HZ. sounds like you had a fab time!

Have a good one MJ.
