Morning folks,

tum thinking of you and any others starting back in work today. Hope it goes well.

momi hope you're heating held out over night.

llare a friend and I are about to start running again - is the couch to 5k thing a proper plan or something you are doing yourself? Might well join you.

Fi hope viewing goes well

oh, A awake, back later x

sherrytom · 04/01/2010 09:25

Morning all- hope work is going ok for Tummum and that the day flies by
Momino Will have to join you on the break from alcohol I think, I drink very small amounts but it has been a more regular thing recently. I actually very rarely have more than one glass but felt bad last night because last night I had two glasses of wine and then J woke up for a feed (first time he's woken for a late feed in a while). I worry about things like alcohol in breastmilk but it was a one off so I guess no harm done?
Fi good luck with the viewing

Right off to swot for job interview tomorrow- it's the same job I had an interview for when J was a few weeks old (I didn't get it but they asked me to reapply) am worried I'll make an idiot of myself in the interview as I was awful last time and feel so out of touch with the workplace atm

llareggub · 04/01/2010 09:47

Good luck sherrytom with the interview.

running about, er running (how apt) I am following this Bupa plan which a few people have recommended.

Fi have said a prayer for your viewing and will have everything crossed at 10am.

Tummum hope it is all going OK today.

at all of these crawling babies. No real signs of this with G.

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 09:48

hope your day is going well tummum

good luck with the interview tomorrow sherrytom

febes · 04/01/2010 09:55

Tum Thinking of you. Hope this morning wasn't too bad and today whizzs by quickly.

Weightloss I haven't been doing anything special but I have noticed that I have lost a little bit of weight lately. I'm sure its due to me not being able to drink since my rash/ illness. If I even have a glass of wine now I come out in spots so I think my rash must be connected to my liver or kidneys. So I have barely had anything over the festive season which is slowly making a difference to my weight. I have an appointment with the dermatologist in the end of feb about my rash although its pretty much gone .

Momi I hope you got your heating sorted. Nightmare in the this weather.

I better go. Soft play awaits!!

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 09:55

I really need to lose some weight (I've managed to put on another 4lb over xmas) - can you do slimfast while breastfeeding?

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/01/2010 10:26

thanks for your good luck and prayers for our viewing.. it's over already he was in and out with only a couple of questions.. so hoping that it's not a bad sign?

brrr it's cold here.. dashboard on car said -5 this am

Mominohoho · 04/01/2010 10:29

hi all.
Just a quick one to say, tumm, hope your day back is going well and sherry, good luck on the interview.

house is freezing! boiler pressure went yesterday but we got it (almost) fixed via a tel call with an engineer. no one was available to come out to us! it's running now but only on the lowest setting since the pressure is now a bit too high. it's 14 in the house but we have borrowed an oil heater which i'll move round to diff rooms. it's in H's room at the moment.

we're still in our pyjamas . have a moment to eat breakfast so catching up here and now must run to get dressed whlist i have the opportunity.

hope all are well.

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 11:32

anyone know of a 2nd stage car seat that can be used with a lap belt only? it's to go in our camper van

someone recommended a britax freeway?

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 11:37

obviously we can't fit an isofix in our camper so looking for a safe seat for lap belt only

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 11:59

aha have just rung Britax and they recommend the Britax Prince or the Eclipse

Guess its going to be a trip to Mothercare/Halfords with the camper to see if I'm satisfied they're a safe fit

febes · 04/01/2010 14:22

Looby Good to 'see' you again. .I have britax carseats for DD and R and am happy with them. We use the car for DHs work, trips to the recycling centre, bringing wood and tiles and other long and heavy stuff from the building yards so can't have isofix carseats.

Fi it was -2.5 in our car this morning brrrrrrrrr. Cracking day though- beautifully sunny. When will you hear feedback from the estate agent re: the viewing?? We hope to have our house ready for sale in a few months so hope it gets lots of viewings and sells quickly .

runningmonkey · 04/01/2010 15:14

Right am back. V clingy snotty baby today. I think its a combination of the horrid cold I had and teething as I can see some ominous white bulges both top and bottom. A already has the 2 bottom teeth and they came through almost together so am not sure if we're in for a few all at once

V cold here too, the frost is so thick it looks like snow Went out for a walk and the village looks beautiful today. I love sunny winter days (as long as I am wrapped up warm of course)

sherry good luck for job int tomorrow

febes nice one on the weight loss although boo to it not being intentional! I know that booze is my downfall as I am sure I have stopped losing weight since I started having the odd glass of wine.

looby nice to see you back. How are things? I'm not sure re the carseat but I have heard that Halfords are usually pretty good at doing fittings etc. We've got a britax 0-4 car seat (can be both rear and forward facing) and am really pleased with it so far. It is non isofix and seems really sturdy when properly fitted in place. There are some good videos online for showing how to fit your carseat properly, can't remember where I found them but it was probably on youtube.

Fi interesting re the viewing. Perhaps he was a buy to let person? When were selling last year we had a lot of investment buyers look around and they were always quick compared to the people who were actually interested in living there. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome/good feedback.

llare thanks for the link. Will pass it on to my friend and see what she thinks. My name is a throwback to my past and another running related forum I used to frequent. I absolutely love running, was always rubbish at it (came last in a proper road race once ) and would really like to get back into it properly.

momi glad you got some heat and hope it gets fixed properly soon.

Am sure I've forgotten something I was going to say but can't remember now. How on earth am I going to remember kids names when I get back to work in, eek, 6 weeks!

Reggiee · 04/01/2010 16:36

Happy New Year all!

Am v twitchy awaiting return of B from his first full day at nursery. Have been missing something all day . Going to work tomorrow. Who else is going back this month? How was today Tum? Momi do you have heating now? Typical bad timing. Hope it all got sorted pronto.

llare / running am about your running talk. I'm a rubbish runner (slow 5km type person) but am desperate to run. Am not allowed to run for at least 9 months due to prolapse. Which makes me want it even more.

Right. Am going to put the kettle on for dh and go and twitch the curtains to see if the car is coming down the street.

Jinglebelgina · 04/01/2010 18:20

Hi everyone,

Also claiming Namecheck Amnesty cause I've also got a bit of a short memory and can't remember what was said by whom etc...

Tummum I hope you're OK today after your 1st day at work. I felt so sorry for you when I read the post you wrote last night. If I'd read it at the time I would have cried a few tears with you.

get fit Llare/running and anyone else starting get fit programmes: Good luck. I'm not starting one, as I never finish it anyway, lol.

looby Good luck with the car seat in campervan. Halfords is supposed to be good, but saying that: they gave v. bad advice re my current car seat. They said to never recline the seat in the rear facing position, while the instructions say that it should always be reclined

heating We've come home from 5 days away too, but luckily the house warmed up fairly quickly. We got home at night and had the heating on overnight. By this morning it was lovely. Sympathies to you with broken heating. Ours broke last Nov (2008) during a cold spell and it wasn't very nice.

fi Hope the viewing went well.

Reggie Enjoy your evening with baby B. I know exactly what you mean.

I'm so happy I changed my start work date. I really really don't feel ready now and C isn't ready either. This week she has been crying as soon as I leave the room. I can't imagine leaving her when she's like that.

The main developments here since I was last logged on are: 3 new teeth! Yep, C's now got 5 teeth and it will soon be 6 I think! She likes biting my chin with them too and I tell you: It hurts! No signs of crawling, Luckily. But she's getting better at being on her front and today for the 1st time ever she managed to draw her knees up and sit on hands and knees for a second and then push herself backwards. She's also rolled from front to back a few times.

I've also taken our xmas stuff down today. It was clogging up the room and in my way. I'm happy to have space again now.

C's still not good at solids She still only eats a few bits and pieces. Nothing that resembles the meals fi described.

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 04/01/2010 18:51

tum really hoping your first day went well today. Come and tell us all about it.

And reggiee hope yours goes well tomorrow too. How was B on his return from nursery?

running a similar day here today too. Sunshine and frost. Lovely.

fi any feedback on the viewing yet?

sherry good luck for your interview tomorrow.

weightloss I weighed myself today and was quite pleased to have only put on 2lb over xmas ( it feels like a lot more but its the Wii fit so I think reliable). But that 2lb needs shifting so am kind of doing my mad diet from a few weeks back so no carbs for me at the moment.

DS1 starts school tomorrow. Big day. Although this week its only 2 hours a day so hes being eased in gently. Its a good job I'm on ML still so i can suck up the afternoons. If you were at work, its a bit of a mare really for this week.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/01/2010 19:48

lovely to see everyone back

no feedback on our viewing yet.. hopefully that's good? i also got a buy to let vibe from him but could be wrong. our fingers are crossed though x

our xmas tree is still up.. just ran out of time today and now i'm pooped.. after taking down my parents tree and packing it away.

ds was back at pre school and we're 3days into potty training again as he had so many accidents last time (and wasn't in the least bothered about them be it on sofa.. carpets etc) we took a break so hoping this time it'll click.

G had a marathon nap today and slept right through lunch time but was prob due to ds waking her at 4.30am opening lounge door that creaks (next to her room) and again at 6am opening her door to play with her toys 'check' on her and then she only slept for 30mins this am. - hope 1st day back at work for all that started was ok and not too upsetting.
right off for a bath & will be back after
Tummum · 04/01/2010 20:39

Hello everyone. Thank you so much for your lovely messages. It almost made me cry again. So. It was horrible. I am shattered and can't believe I have to do it again tomorrow. so I'm not going to think about it anymore.

On a good note, my 1st day of dieting went really well. And it was lovely to see the DCs when I came home. G stared at me for a bit, then his little face lit up and he sped-crawled over to me and pulled himself up on my leg which was so nice.

I really am going to be short and sweet and mememememe I'm afraid. I'm so tired I'm going to have a bath then go to sleep.

Sweet dreams all.x

SpangleMaker · 04/01/2010 21:24

Tummum hope you have a nice bath and forget all about horrid work.

Headless I'm full of admiration for your diet thingy. I've put on 3 or 4lb over Christmas but don't have the willpower to be that strict. I'll just have to rely on cutting back and being generally more active.

llare the 5k programme looks sensible. I'd like to do it but can't be bothered to get up early haven't figured how to fit it into my day with DH getting back from work late. I really should though, because I know I'd feel better for it.

Belgina H still doesn't eat much apart from when I spoon feed him. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually (I hope!).

No signs of crawling yet despite the fact H has been rolling proficiently since he was 5m. He really seems to have come on a lot in the last few weeks, though - he's paying much more attention to details and actually looking at things before banging them/shoving them in his mouth, manipulating toys with both hands... he's geting really sociable too - yesterday we were having a pub lunch and he was leaning out of the high chair and shouting at a couple at the next table to get their attention . Can't believe how fast my baby is growing up!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/01/2010 21:29

Awwww tummum have a lovely soak in the bath and you describe a heart melting picture of G's face and speed crawling to you x

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/01/2010 21:34

spangle at H talking to the people at the next table.

weaning... i've ended up doing a combo of pureed (like i did with ds) with finger foods on the side... that's prob why G is eating a fair amount!

pulacracker · 04/01/2010 21:40

Evening ladies.

tummum- sorry you had a difficult first day, but it's lovely when the DCs are happy to see you, and at least G is looked after at home so it will hopefully be easier for him to adapt. I will be back at work in 2 weeks time, and am currently looking forward to it, but no doubt i will find it quite difficult when I actually have to do it.

S is having 3 days in nursery before I am back at work. On the first day (this Wednesday) I am off to the spa with a friend for some pampering and relaxation. On the second Wednesday, I'm off to York to see Momino, Grumpy and reggiee and maybe some others- not checked the FB discussion lately. And not sure what I'll do on the final day yet.

I need to loose some weight as my clothes are getting too tight . I am planning to start badminton on Monday nights. Once all the Christmas biscuits have been eaten, i will start being more healthy .

Loobylou36 · 04/01/2010 21:47

evening all

I must try and catch up properly with the thread at some point - still have lots going on so don't seem to have the time.

M still has no teeth at 8.5 months she isn't really crawling and every time I try and get her to sit down she wants to stand up .

My Mum finally came home from hospital 3 wks ago after being in for 6 weeks. Unfortunately her dementia mood swings have worsened and she threatened my dad with a broom, this and other events have forced us to get her admitted to a mental health ward . I had to take her in on New Years Eve.

So I am once again visiting her every day in hospital. They are talking about putting her on AD's now to see if that has an effect.

Jinglebelgina · 04/01/2010 22:04

Phew, just managed to get through 2 weeks worth of ironing and laundry. I'm happy it's finished now though. I've got 3 loads drying all over the house, so I'm sure I'll be doing the same again very soon

tummum How lovely to hear from you. I had been wondering how you got on. G speed crawling over to you was so sweet.

looby about your mum. It must be so stressfull. My thoughts are with you.

spangle Funny about H shouting at the people at the other table. C just likes to stare and smile at random people until they smile back at her

weight I'm too scared to get on the scales. I'm pretty sure I've put on loads while in Belgium. Too much nice food

C has discovered another new skill btw. The letting go of things (preferably food) on purpose. So feeding times have been even more fun than before

Mominohoho · 04/01/2010 23:37

evening all. so much going on...
tumm, hope that soak helped you to relax and hope tomorrow is better.
reggiee, good luck tomorrow.
headless, good luck to your ds1 and hope his first day is happy.
belgina, it makes me laugh so hard when babies drop things, then look down at them as if to say, 'what is that doing down there' ? Harper is doing this now as well and makes me smile.
looby, so sorry about your mother in hospital. Hope she/you are getting support needed.
spangle, H isn't crawling either. she loves standing and isn't far from 'cruising' but not crawling.
running, are you over your cold now? hopeso and hope A is better too.

pula, still have Wed meeting in my diary but not sure what to do about dd1. she's at pre-school so needs to be picked up at 11.45, an awkward time. means I may not be able to meet until 12pm and will have both Harper and India (not a prob though).

Fi, I'm doing combi-weaning (is that a new term?) as well as H was getting frustrated at not being able to get enough food in her mouth. some things she's great at feeding herself but still loves to be spoon-fed fruit purees, mashed pasta. for a petite one, she's become a very good eater.

ok, must get to sleep. boiler isn't fixed but can function with heating on very low. luckily, with heating on all day, the house is about 16C.not too bad.

hope everyone is ok and catch up again to morrow.
