Sorry momi not sure what's going wrong there - checked my recipe again and 3 is right. I've never had it go wrong before tho, its usually bung it all together, mix it and it works... hmm will have a think. I've checked the qtys as well and theyre ok so not sure whats gone wrong. Do you have a fan oven? maybe reduce the temp a bit? Will have a think.

Mominohoho · 10/12/2009 16:30

running, i think I got the flour quantity wrong. maybe put in too much without realising. anyway, the 2nd cake looks ok but i'm having trouble finding time to ice it since H is being a bit high maintenance and now almost time to pick up DDs from nursery.

llareggub · 10/12/2009 20:00

That cake sounds delicious! I was tempted to make it last night and went out to the supermarket to get ingredients but came back with clotted cream and scones instead.

I had a terrible night last night. I wandered around the supermarket with a headache and quickly realised that it wasn't a normal headache but one of those dog-tired headaches. My whole body was aching. I had a sort of meltdown last night in bed. DS2 was coughing a lot in his sleep and DH was snoring loudly. I was really resentful of all of the sleeping people around me. I cannot get to sleep at the moment until the very early hours. It is at least 2.30/3am before I get to sleep. My back aches from breastfeeding in bed (I think from the lying down) and I only really get a decent night if I'm on my own. I felt so, so miserable last night and had a little cry.

So. Today I took the boys out for a really long walk around the grounds of Warwick Castle. It was a lovely day so it felt so much better. We all managed a quick nap this afternoon until a bloody wrong number woke us up, grr. I also cut out coffee today, I just hope it makes a difference. I went for a quick 20 minute run before the bedtime routine which helped clear my head so I am hoping that I can sleep tonight. DH needs to be up and out by 6.30 so I'm stuffed if I don't get to sleep until 3am!

Sorry for the me me me.

muddleddaizy · 10/12/2009 20:54

Just popping in quickly whilst Dh thinks I'm using the laptop for a job application

Llare hope you manage some sleep tonight. Sounds awful

Momi glad the cake worked out!

Sleep sorry for all those having nightmare nights. Ds2 has woken at 3.30am for the past 2 nights and not gone back to sleep for ages! Hate to say it, but ds1 didn't sleep through until he was 18months old! Mind you I was too lazy to do any sleep training with him!

running Hope you manage to find a childminder. I found a letter from work today saying they wanted 2months notice of when I was returning to work - oops that was last week

It's been a rough week sickness wise. Ds1 is better and wanting to visit a Ben10 shop but ds2 and I still aren't right, but much better. Thanks for all your good wishes.

Well I really need to go and tackle my ironing. I think there are currently more clothes downstairs than upstairs Sorry for those I haven't name checked.

Febesisachristmascracker · 10/12/2009 21:22

Evening all,

I've had a manic day. I am looking after my friends DS (as well as my 2) today and tomorrow. As our house is under construction (again) we all decamped to their house. It was a bit crazy trying to get them all down for naps and finding everything in a new house but we managed.

Pula Sorry to hear S is keeping you up at night (still). We aren't much better. R woke at 11 last night when we went to bed so I feed him hoping he would go through till 6 but he woke at 3.30 and 6.30. I feed him both times as I didn't have the strength to listen to him cry. It's bloody hard isn't it.

Sorry to Headless, Running and others childcare woes. I hope you can find a resolution you are happy with.

Right better go. I have to be out the door with both DCs at 7am

Mominohoho · 10/12/2009 22:09

you can tell i'm the mother of all girls - I have no idea what ben10 is!

muddled, hope you feel better soon.

febes, good luck getting out the door tomorrow for 7! I'll be in my bed with a hot cuppa coffee, baby in arms, dd1&2 sleeping late [hopeful emoticon]...

just decorating the cake, got the pink icing on, glitter scattered, currently gluing pink smarties round the base... i've never seen such a pink cake. i hate it, but she's going to love it!

Mominohoho · 10/12/2009 23:10

llare, hope you're feeling better too. sounds like you had a good day anyway.

cake done, looks fab with the glitter but I did a bad job on the writing. I needed a better pastry/icing bag-thing. the lady gave me flimsy disposable ones that i couldn't fit any icing in, and blah, blah, blah.... it doesn't matter, does it? she'll see the pink icing, pink smarties, fairy ontop and will be very happy .

hope all are asleep. good night!

runningdonkey · 11/12/2009 09:21

Morning,

Hope the cake goes down well momi sounds like your DD will love it.

llare hope you managed to get some sleep last night and are feeling better. These broken nights are so hard, I've got a bit annoyed with DH for his amazing ability to go immediately back to sleep after dealign with A. I lie there for what seems like hours listening to him snoring and getting v irritated.

Hi to all else, am on way out door and my Dad is coming to visit later so busy day today.

essenceofSES · 11/12/2009 09:43

Morning!

I'm lying in bed posting via my phone as O is still asleep!
He slept from 7.20pm til 2.30am, was then awake til 3.45am and then slept til 6.30am when I brought him into bed for a feed. We both fell asleep again and I've been lying here awake for 45 mins debating moving. If I do I might wake him or he may roll off the bed (he can roll over pillows these days!)

momi - glad cake no2 turned out ok. Icing sounds perfect for her.

Llare - hope you got a better night last night.

Febes - hope you managed your 7am start

Looby - how are you doing?

muddled - hope you're feeling better

Ok, I'm just being silly, aren't I?! I'm meeting friends at 11am so I just need to move and either stay in the room or transfer him to his cot.
I never thought I'd be faced with this dilemma!

OP posts:
pulacracker · 11/12/2009 10:13

ses- lol if I just had 1 LO i would be doing the same as you. I tend to get to the stage where i think i will get up and if he wakes then he was probably ready to wake up and if not, he gets a bit more sleep.

Well we had a good night too . S went to bed at 7.30, stirred at 9.15 and DH settled him within 5 mins. We went to bed at 11 and then he was crying at 3.30. DH went to him and he had his arm stuck in the bars, so might not have been crying because he was hungry, but i fed him anyway, put him back in the cot, and he slept til 6, when i brought him in the bed and fed him and dozed til 7.50 .

essenceofSES · 11/12/2009 10:27

Pula - I did think about what I'd do if I had another DC needing attention! Just get on with it!
Needless to say he woke up 5mins after I got out of bed!
Glad you had a better night

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 11/12/2009 12:19

ses - of you being in bed. I remember those days, DD1 didn't sleep much at night, but she'd sleep late in the morning so I didn't go out much before lunch time for a long time!

pula - glad you got a better night.

Hope everyone else had good nights too. OK here, back to normal rubbish as opposed to really rubbish.

DD1 is being a pain today, whining, refusing to do everything etc - I know she's ill, but aaargh!!! A has been grumpy too, refusing to nap, so I didn't manage to have a shower until 11am! Anyway, she's crashed out now but DD1 is going on and on about sticker, and how she 'neeeeeeeeeeds more big stickers, now, muuuuummmmmmy, now'.

Jael · 11/12/2009 14:25

Thankyou for all my birthday messages, I'm still coughing and a little flued up DD did her first school play yesterday on my birthday, it was lovely, I beamed with pride, bearing in mind she's only 3. She was a reindeer, she sang jingle bells on stage with 8 of her nursery class and had another 5 songs to learn too. I practised them at home with her, she kept looking for us in the croud, to make sure we could see that she was singing, and you could hear her over everyone at times which was a little she loved it though! And looked uber cute with her flashing red nose and antlers hehe I almost cried, but looked round and no other mommy was, so I kinda had to suck it in haha!

Right I've got dentist soon, and this is my 3rd trip over the same problem so they better fix it this time! It's a good job it's still free or i'd be verrrry

Jael XXX

Mominohoho · 11/12/2009 15:32

Hi all.
Stuck here with baby on lap. She just wants cuddles all the time, both lovely and frustrating as i can't get anythng done.

flippin, Ikwym about showers, I haven't had a shower yet today . hoping to tonight.

last night was another awful night with both dd1&2 waking up about 6+ times either yellinguntil we came to get them or running down the hall screaming. thankfully Harper didn't wake up and slept like an angel from 8pm till 7am. they must know when it's the other sibling's job to drive mum & dad mad. I'm going to post on either sleeping or behaviour as this must stop or DH and I going to lose it from broken sleep.

still, ok today. we've been to playgroup this morning and, since beginning this post, I've just put H to nap and am going to make biscuits with dd1&2.

ok, more time has passed since the paragraph above and 'rainbow pearls' are being thrown all over the kitchen so have to go!

hope all are well.

ReeBee · 11/12/2009 15:44

Hi ladies

Sorry I haven't been around much, but am still struggling to combine new house, multiple visitors, absent parents (house and dog looking after plus twice weekly grandfather visits to Cockermouth, not the easiest with no bridges open) and Christmas preparations.

Not read very much but it's been lovely to skim through and 'see' you all again. Sorry that some of you have had bad news or are feeling down or poorly.

We still have friends here so no time for more until next week, but all the Bees are fine, especially F (maybe he is FeeBee?) who is bigger and noisier every day and for whom BLW could well have been invented. He has just started to sleep from 8pm - 7am with no dreamfeed - fingers crossed it carries on. Had his third settling in session at nursery today, all ok but a bit sad for me.

I go back to work on 4th Jan - and still there is no role for me. My boss thinks she's got something up her sleeve though, and I'm still not at risk so although worrying, all fine.

Still not completed on our house sale. Been lots of difficulties etc but should be sorted within the next week.

Happy Birthday Jael

Have just discovered my lovely Cath Kidston washbag has been eaten to pieces in the airing cupboard. How on earth we have mice when we also have two cats and three dogs in the house I have no earthly idea. I could cry....

got to go, lots to do. have fab weekends all

PS Do I sound stressed?! Well, good! I am stressed!!

Mominohoho · 11/12/2009 20:56

hi reebee! good to hear from you and fingers crossed on the house sale. RE: mice, that is very, very odd considering your cats and dog. have the pets been sniffing around? re-introduce them to the airing cupboard!

what's everyone doing tonight? I'm wrapping pass-the-parcel gifts and having a glass of wine. felt very stressed today (me too, Ree). I've realised pre-school children make me very stressed and anxious. am I in trouble for the teenage years, then? 3 girls?

uh oh.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 11/12/2009 21:48

hiya all.. still in need of the NCA here in the Firelight household.

Had to take ds to get his MMR booster this afternoon.. his conjunctivitus has almost gone now just in time for the booster to make him miserable. dh is now on 500mg AB's, i'm still coughing.. but G still clear of bugs

momino the cake sounds fantastic how many layers do your pass the parcels have?

reebee boo to the mice!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 11/12/2009 22:00

I've got to attack the xmas card writing but just can't face it.. i've not even been on FarmVille for 2days

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 11/12/2009 22:09

reebee - hello! and boo to mice.

I'm not doing anything constructive - drinking beer and farming! Was upposed to be either marzipanning the cake, making beetroot chutney or writing christmas cards, but have managed to do none of those.

My day didn't improve much, DD1 has alternated between whining and tantrums all day, the only time she was happy was when were feeding the ducks. So that was about half an hour all day. I needed the beer!!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 11/12/2009 22:19

flippin that's a hard day.. hope tomorrow is easier.

Loobylou36 · 11/12/2009 22:32

evening all

name check amnesty please

Went to nanny's funeral today M was very well behaved and just made little noises during the ceremony which were sweet and made the vicar comment that she and her cousin N were joining in with the service.

I got thro it without falling to bits (I cry at anything since having M ). It was a lovely service and quite a few people were there.

have been wrapping DSD's presents tonight and enjoying a glass of wine but will be off to bed soon.

Loobylou36 · 11/12/2009 22:33

Had M weighed and measured for the first time in ages on wed. She's now 16lb13 and 68.5cm at 7.5months.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 11/12/2009 22:41

ds will be as glad as I will when his eyes clear up as i've had to fight him 4 x a day to give him the eye drops.. I have tried to make it as nice as possible and un-scary for him by getting him to lie down with his eyes gently closed but it's ended in tears every time

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 11/12/2009 22:48

just seen your post looby sending you big hugs.. I always find the service really hard too and never seem to be able to hold it together.

well done M on her weight.
