Quick post, still tons to do before bed lol I've managed to completely empty my laundry bin before we go though so I'm very sad I know...DD is already at my Moms, and baby J is getting dropped off tomorrow. I havn't left them both before and the last time I left DD for a weekend was 2 years ago minus hospital trips obviously, so I'm a little scared Fire-Light I've never been to Scotland before so it's a first for me I'm looking forward to spending the weekend with just DP...been a lonnnng time since we had a weekend away.
And were staying at The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, which i'm mega excited about right, back to packing and watching DP do the ironing!!!lol hehe

Have a nice weekend everyone, hope babies keep up with the good sleeping

Mominohoho · 04/12/2009 22:28

Jael,
Have a great time! sounds like a fab weekend planned, can't wait to hear about it.

Mominohoho · 04/12/2009 22:31

flippin, wow about the crawling!

Jinglebelgina · 04/12/2009 22:37

jael I do the same before going away. Because when you come back you're guaranteed to have loads of laundry, so last thing you want his left over laundry + trip away laundry together! Have fun in Scotland!

momi Glad to hear she's gone to sleep now. I think overtired babies just need a little help to get to sleep and cuddles always work for that.

Night night everyone

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 04/12/2009 22:47

momino - wow, and eek!

jael - have a fab weekend.

Night all!

ok now to rant a bit... as you know dh came down with manflu dreaded lurgy earlier this week, came home early from work monday and was off tues anyway for an MRI on his shoulder... but has been off wed/thurs/fri as still poorly. He infected me with it.. my voice went barry white mon, went pretty much altogether tues and wed i felt so awful i could hardly drag myself out of bed to bf grace and go to the loo.

Now you're thinking... poor poorly fi... i hope your dh is looking after you? I wish it could be so but with dh also being poorly neither of us has been great!

The highs of the last few days...
DH taking & collecting ds to/from pre school on wed when i felt dreadful. DH helping me wash/dry/put away the lunch dishes today for a change. DH dishing up dinner
Me: Yes that's great...

pulacracker · 04/12/2009 23:35

Fi- at your DH. Blaming you for getting sick too because you don't rest enough, but then suggesting you hoover every day . You should suggest he pays for a cleaner... Poor you having to keep going when you feel so rough, but he can take himself off to bed to rest. Grrrrr.

I am planning to leave DH with all 3 DCs soon as i really need a break, and i don't think he appreciates how hard it is to do things when DS2 starts whinging to be held and DD/DS1 start fighting/misbehaving.

Better get some sleep. S woke at 10.30 so has had a feed so hope he has a good few hours kip. He settled himself off again after his feed without a dummy so i think "operation dummy" has gone very well so far.

Mominohoho · 04/12/2009 23:36

Fi, how t'hell did you accomplish all that? I'm amazed (and ashamed of my lack of productivity in comparison). how? you're amazing and doing all this when feeling unwell.

can you relax now? please? you're making me tired .

H keep wimpering every 30 min. don't know what's wrong with her but suspect teething (haven't come through yet).

Mominohoho · 04/12/2009 23:40

oh, and agree with pula about your DH. great idea to leave them with the DCs so they know what it's like.

i should get some sleep. H crying again. going to cuddle somemore.

Parumpumpumtumm · 04/12/2009 23:47

Fi sending un-Mnetty hugs your way. Do you think you (both) have had swine flu... sounds like it. And your DH sounds v. similar to mine. They just don't get it sometimes, do they. I'm sure that DH thinks that we have magical fairies that clear up behind him. I agree with Momi that you managed all of that whilst being ill. And I also double vote for Pula's idea to leave the DHs with all of the DC for quite a long time. He hasn't got a clue what's ahead of him . Oh, and if you've heard of a murder in the East Midlands over the weekend, it's because he's made another helpful comment about the tidiness of house, or my parental skills. He doesn't get that he's not qualified to comment on the house or my parenting skills until he's bloody done it himself. sorry Fi, my supposedly supportive post turned into a memememe rant. Hope you get some rest tonight and feel much better tomorrow.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/12/2009 23:48

Thanks pula momino I do plan to have a quiet week end... i feel dh has had more than enough time to recover now and it's my turn to have some feet up time! Keeping going kept my mind off feeling ruff and ds is easier when fully occupied... so keeping ds busy kinda gave me a break I just needed a rant... as us two poorly ones & looking after dc's is great for creating grumpyness!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 04/12/2009 23:53

tumm x posts.... ikhyf swine flu crossed my mind but although my temp was slightly raised wed am 99.7 it had gone by lunchtime and the crawly skin/achey body had gone by thursday.. i'm just left with the awful cough and gunk now... yuk.

llareggub · 05/12/2009 09:33

Hiya folks! Sorry to hear about arsey husbands and ill mumsnetters.

Thank you for all the kind thoughts about my friend. She is really, really touched.

I'm shattered. We went out(!) to see Rob Brydon last night at Warwick Arts Centre. He was absolutely hilarious. It was so good to get out and laugh so much.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 05/12/2009 09:37

morning.. re swine flu.. i thought it would feel worse than normal flu? i definitely felt flu like through tuesday night (sweating and clammy but feeling cold) and wed day my body felt like i'd been run over by a truck, had no appetite, really tired and lifting G to bf was hard.. it felt like i was lifting 3tons! if that was sf it felt no worse than normal..

dh gave me a lie in this am.. ds got up at 6am (dh was already up), G woke for a feed same time. I hid & fed G in our bedroom.. popped her back into bed and we both fell back asleep G & i woke properly at 9 i remember vaguely ds sneaking into our room but dh ushering him quietly out..

dh is now getting ready to go to sainsburys to get me anything i fancy.. he's still feeling ruf but better too iykwim

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 05/12/2009 09:57

ooo llare rob brydon.. what a great nights laughter.. he's so funny apparently his tweets are hilarious but few and far between!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 05/12/2009 10:06

I said a little prayer for your friend too when i was lurking.. how is she/are they doing?

llareggub · 05/12/2009 10:29

She is sounding very strong and very positive. We had a good chat yesterday and I'm hoping to get to see her in hospital over the christmas holidays.

Rob Brydon was absolutely hilarious, really just what we needed.

llareggub · 05/12/2009 10:29

Oh and I meant to say, are you on twitter?

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 05/12/2009 11:50

yes.. i signed up for twitter not long after it started to increase traffic to my now seriously neglected blog.. i hardly blog or tweet these days. if you're on twitter you can find me via button on my blog i think.. i've not blogged since june

pulacracker · 05/12/2009 15:42

Afternoon ladies,

For those interested in how "operation dummy" is going, last night DS2 only fed at 10.30pm and 5.50am . Just a shame he woke at 1am and didn't go back to sleep until 2.20 . We just offered some water. And today he has cried for 5 mins before falling asleep, so getting shorter, but just wish he didn't cry at all.

Hope your DH/DPs are all behaving today . Mine has been OK- he had to do some shopping, and both DD and DS1 wanted to go with him, and he was protesting a bit, but i often have 2 if not 3 DCs with me when i am shopping and luckily they were very well behaved so they had a nice time. It was funny yesterday when i popped to the supermarket whilst DH gave the DCs their tea because it felt very strange not to have any DCs with me. I would be looking at things to buy and if someone elses baby cried, I would turn back to the trolley to see what the matter was and then realise it wasn't one of mine .

Crimbooldcaaaaaaaa · 05/12/2009 19:12

Evening all. Gosh, aren't we quiet nowaays?!

So what's everyone doing? I'm watching Strictly and DD2 is swirling around the floor in a duvet cover, pretending to be on Strictly.

S is sat in her Bumbo-style chair, sucking on clementines and waving her fat hands. She's been showing off her amazing rolling skills and trying to get up on her knees, crawler-style (she shuffles backwards a bit, realises she's not gone the way she wanted and screams in rage).

DH was supposed to be here today but various work and money issues have buggered that. I'm pissed off. I'm tired of looking after 3 kids by myself every day without respite.

Yes, sorry. It's the usual poor me me me rant.

fi I hope you're feeling better and DH has realised you do need a rest.

Doorbell, back soon...

muddleddaizy · 05/12/2009 19:54

Crimbo sorry your dh hasn't made it out to you. I too would feel the pain looking after 3 kids on my own. I moan if I have 2 on my own for a day

Pula glad operation dummy appears to be working. We need to work on ds2's 4am start to the day, but not sure how as it doesn't matter what time you put him to bed he still wakes at 4

Fi hope you managed a rest today. Out in town with dh today and I went off to do something and he said can't you take ds1 with you? I cant manage 2 on my own. I wonder how he thinks I cope on my own! Needless to say I ignored him - I mean I was 2 mins!!!!!!

Llare Rob Brydon sounds like fun!!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 05/12/2009 20:42

pula yay! sounds like you're making headway with the training

crimbo sorry your dh couldn't make it

muddled at your dh saying he couldn't cope with both dc's.. so that makes you super woman then right?

well dh has been up all day.. kept ds occupied this am to let me sleep as long as i wanted.. then went to sainsburys to buy anything i fancied eating.. played Lego with ds all afternoon so i got a long soak in the bath.. so i feel wonderfully rested tonight. just wish the pita cough would go!

G is just thinking of drifting off to sleep.. at last..

Jinglebelgina · 05/12/2009 20:51

Hi everyone,

tum/fi Boo at your dh's and their unhelpful comments. Mine is good tbh, can't complain. In fact I've felt really lazy next to what he's been doing today. I offered to help but he declined, so...

fi Glad to hear you're better. I think swine flu can feel just like normal flu with some people. I suppose it depends on how strong your immune system is.

Who's Rob Brydon It appears everyone knows him.

crimbo How annoying your DH didn't get to see you this weekend. I know what it is to look after 3 dcs on my own, so you've got my sympathy. From Jan that will finally be over for us I think. Still not sure how we'll cope living in the same house full time. We've only ever done that for 6 months in our whole relationship, when ds was a baby . You might hear of a murder in Kent in jan sometime too

pula glad operation dummy is working. Hopefully in the end the crying becomes no crying. Some babies just need to have a shout when they fall asleep though.

I've been working on C's rolling skills again today. I took the babynest away, because she sits up really well and she now just has a v-pillow behind her. She seems to fall forward in a fairly controlled manner and has had quite a bit of tummy time because of it. She can roll onto her back when it happens with some encouragement, but never seems to think of doing it by herself

Tonight is the night St Nicholas visits the house and so I've got 2 shoes and a bootie standing by the fire place with a carrot in them for St Nicholas' horse. St Nicholas will bump into the tooth fairy tonight too as ds has lost a molar (his 1st).

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 05/12/2009 20:55

Evening all! Sat here eating chocolate (successful trip to Aldi yesterday!) and drinking tea, tending my farm and waiting for the Strictly results show. And listening to Doves so loudly that if either of the girls woke up we probably wouldn't hear them. Not deliberately, but it just happened and neither of us has bothered to turn it down a bit .

llaregub - v of you seeing Rob Brydon, I love him! Saw him live years and years ago when he did Marion and Geoff, he was great.

crimbo - hugs and wine to you. It's hard on your own. Not much longer though.

pula - sounds like real progress is being made, hope the crying stops very soon.

fi - hope you're feeling very much better soon.

Strange night last night. A woke just after I went to bed, she was really cross and not wanting milk so she got gripe water and then calpol, she then slept until 5:30! Longest stretch in ages. Anyway, I got up with her so DH could have a lie in (no grumbles from me, my turn tomorrow) and she was quite happy for a while, went back to sleep at 7:15 and slept until gone 10 - very odd! She's been very happy today, laughing and crawling all over the place. DD1 has been fairly good today too, not bed time tantrum, hooray!
