Hi all!

KIT day was ok. I'd rather not have gone but I'm sure it did all of us good. DH & DS coped v well but it was heart warming to see DS's smile when I got home.

Febes - could your DH share his secret sleep inducing hold?!

Spangle - love gut instinct being "eat chocolate"!

Belgian - frustrating about school fair clash but DS forgetfulness maybe a bit fortuitous! As for your DD, I remember cutting my fringe as a child and my Mum wouldn't let scissors anywhere near me for years!!

weaning - a bit hit and miss here. Not much going down and I'm getting some v strange faces pulled that I've not seen before!

Grumpy - hope you're enjoying your DH time

Headless - hope you enjoy your JO party

Fi - not long to go now and your solo week will be over!

FiByTheSea · 12/11/2009 21:25

belgian i'm watching the octomum program on c4 too. Lol at the hair under the cushion

ses glad your KIT day went well and that you got a lovely welcome home

one more day, bed and bath on my own tomorrow and DH is home

I seem to be very fond of the tonight

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 12/11/2009 21:41

Watching octomum too, so sorry, not much namechecking! Can't believe her hosehold, it's mad. That many children is doable if the age gap is differnt, but all under 9? Phew. Exhausting just watching. Ok, so that's her life and that's just how it it, but the ethics of the fertility treatment are qustionable, surely?

belgian at DD1's hair!

essenceofSES · 12/11/2009 21:52

Fi -

octomum - DH watching Lethal Weapon 4 (yawn!) Do you mean she has 14 children all under the age of 9??!

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 22:13

octomum She's the woman who had 6 dcs and then had fertility treatment for another one (she had some frozen embryos and thought she might as well use them). Anyway, they all took and 1 split in 2 making 8 babies . They were born in the beginning in the year. Her household is mad. The baby feeding sessions are like a conveyor belt thing. Somehow she seems to be quite sane though. Not at all like she's been portrayed in the media when the babies were born.

fi

ses glad to hear your KIT day went well. Lovely those welcome back smiles, aren't day?

essenceofSES · 12/11/2009 22:21

Thanks Belgian
I remember the press coverage and, yes, they did make her out to be a bit insane.
Pretty contentious all round though. I know it's a cop out but I'd rather not sit in judgement on whether she should have had the fertility treatment or not seeing as it's happened and 8 beautiful babies have been created as a result.
Can't imagine the logistics of all those children though!!

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 22:44

I feel the same. It's not our job to judge her. It's happened and she got more than she bargained for, which she admits. Now she's got to live with it for ever. The feeding session was amazing though. She had a semi-circular table with 8 built in baby seats and then she just spooned food into them. They also consume £1000 of food a week apparently and use 70 nappies a day! I could go on, it was amazing!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 12/11/2009 22:46

Quiet here tonight! I'm off to bed now. Fingers crossed for peaceful nights all round.

Momino · 12/11/2009 23:21

sorry, I'm a bit late for the conversation. I've been ironing. we had a mountain and I've tackled it. i hate ironing.

belgian, i love the fringe story, really made me smile. Ihad a very crooked fringe as a little girl - I was always trying to cut it myself.

fi, hurrah for dh coming home! mine has made it back after one night away. but then, I didn't notice much since he's usually out the door by 6.30 and back right before dd's go to bed at 8. i actually loved the extra space in the bed .

ses, glad KIT day went well. good practice for the real thing, eh?

well, here I am again. not going to sleep. . and I've nothing to say which makes it worse.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight (Harper and my dd1 included!).

FiByTheSea · 12/11/2009 23:31

will keep my fingers crossed for us all to have better nights.. btw did you google thanksgiving? it's different in canada.. beg of oct for them!

Momino · 12/11/2009 23:37

one of my FB friends told me it's the 26th so week after next. can't wait! I ordered the turkey.

hope yours is a good night too, Fi.

Tummum · 13/11/2009 08:50

Morning all

I thought Octomum was amazing too. She was so calm given all the chaos in her household. I did feel a bit sorry for her DC though, as clearly that many in a household is tricky to cope with.

My DH is being a total knob today. He is in a right grumpy mood this morning because he had to get up at 6am [sarcy poor thing emoticon] and I couldn't hear him on his car kit. So when I said "pardon, I didn't hear what you said" he put the phone down on me. Twice. I just don't think that's acceptable. Perhaps I am going a bit deaf because I find it difficult to hear on the phone when he is in the car and there are demanding kids talking at the same time. Or perhaps he is expecting too much from me

Vent over. I feel better now. Thanks for listening . (He's still a knob though)

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 13/11/2009 09:11

Morning all!

tummum - grr at your D(?)H.

OK night here, A awake at 2, asleep in bed with me until 5:30 then she woke up and did a massive poo. Good morning mummy!

My day is obviously going to be about poo - DD1 managed a poo on the toilet this morning!

Crappy weather here, not sure what we're going to do today.

essenceofSES · 13/11/2009 09:36

Morning!

Tummum - maybe we need to revise our DH school idea. Although mine did do well yesterday, he's known for weeks that tonight is our NCT girls night out and has told me he may need to work late. I think he knows it's more than his life's worth, nevermind the fact that he'd have 6 angry women to deal with!

flippin - yay for DD1 My alarm clock is often DS doing a huge smelly and noisy poo. Lovely way to start the day isn't it!

Today I'm taking mum off to hospital for her post op check on her shoulder then I'm sure I need to go into town for something but I can't think what!
Then it's all about getting ready for tonight! We're meeting for drinks, then going to The Dining Room (posh restaurant owned by minor TV chef Tony Tobin, who is lovely btw) and then on for a boogie.
I've got a coast purple bodice top and black trousers that I bought about 2 weeks before my BFP. Top fits ok except I may spill over the top and trousers are too big!!! I seem to have shrunk width ways but have this huge jelly belly still!

Anyway, enough rambling from me. Hope you all have good days!

pulaparkin · 13/11/2009 09:37

Morning all, sorry for not namechecking but I am bursting to tell you my sleep news .

We have been trying to settle S without a feed in the night- he was restless 1.30-2.30 and finally settled when I patted him on his bum (he prefers sleeping on his tummy) and then next thing i knew it was 6.25 . And I didn't even know he had been restless as i didn't hear him til 2.30 as DH had been dealing with him so i had a good night's sleep. So that's the first night he's not fed til morning (apart from a quick feed at 10pm) so i feel we are finally getting there

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 13/11/2009 10:01

Pula Yay for S!! R fed at 10, 2 and 6. I feel a bit like the lurgy is coming on and DH was working stupid hours last night so I couldn't be bothered to pat or shush, I just fed him straight away but I was pleased that he went 4 hourly.

Ses your night out sounds brilliant. As does your outfit. DH and I were meant to go on a 'date', which was going to include R sleeping up in his aunties room, tonight but he is working 12 hours tomorrow and I feel a bit sick so we might make it next Friday night. I think we will access the situation tonight he gets home from work.

Not sure what we are going to do today. I want to take DCs swimming at 12 but as I feel sick and I'm not sure. It's such a good class I think I will go...I really need to do a trip to costco and stock up on catfood, baked beans and boring things like that.

Tummum · 13/11/2009 10:33

Ses your outfit sounds fab. Have a lovely evening. I agree, we do need to return to the DH training school I think.

Pula Yaaaaaaaaaay! Fantastic news. I hope you feel fabulous after your sleep.

Belgianrockets · 13/11/2009 10:35

Morning everyone,

Horrible weather down here. It's raining raining raining. So postponed my going out plans for now. Poor DH had to go out last night in strong winds and pouring rain to bring a ship into port. I always worry a little when he goes out in this weather, because it means him going out on a little pilot boat and then climbing a ladder up into a ship all while the rain is coming down and the wind is blowing and the ships are moving. I suppose at least it brings some adventure into his life

pula Hurrah for S's good night. You must feel really good!

febes I hope your sickness will go soon. Can you have a little nap today?

ses at your posh night out. I hope your DH comes to his senses and realises that working late wont be worth the hassle like you said. Great news about the outfit too

tummum Sounds like your DH got up on the wrong side of the bed. I hope he cheers up a little soon.

flippin Sounds like dd1 is getting there with the potty training.

Our night was OK, except that C woke at 4.30 for a feed, but didn't take it very well and then spent the next few hours whimpering every 30min, waking me. So I'm feeling a little tired today. Also have a bit of a sore throat and a cough coming. I think that might be C's cold from last week attacking me now

Right, my 1st task for the day will be writing new address cards. Only 2 months overdue, but I reckon I better let everyone know our new address before christmas

dandy I so recognise your description of weaning. C doesn't get excited about food, just finds it mildly interesting, when she does put it in her mouth she shudders and pulls this face of disgust. It is a funny face though. Oddly enough I'm now looking forward to poos, just to see if there's any evidence of solids in it . So far all her poos have been 100% bm.

Only 20 cards to go. I'm getting writing cramp here.

SpangleMaker · 13/11/2009 12:13

Pula - yay, breakthrough! But Dandy sorry about the bad night. Sort of average here, similar to Febes with feeds at 10, 2.30 and 6.30 and then H lay happily under his mobile and talking to DH until we got him up properly at 8.

Ses your posh night out sounds lovely. I'm sure your DH will behave. It sounds as if your DH really needs to build his confidence dealing with O, and you going out is the kindest thing you can do. Do you like my logic?

Well we had another milestone this week. The first sausage shaped poo I was a bit surprised as I didn't think H had actually eaten that much yesterday. I was even more surprised - and very - that DH found it not in H's nappy as you might expect, but on the play mat on the living room floor. No idea how it got there at all! I can only think it was last night when he was rolling round in just his nappy as the nappy was a bit loose at the back. . Oh dear. Bad mummy.

Dandy yes he did deal with it, although he did think about asking me if I wanted a look.

Apologies for lowering the tone everyone. As you were.

HeadlessLadyH · 13/11/2009 14:45

spangle at the poo story! How on earth did it get there. Maybe there is a poo fairy somewhere!!!

dandy I feel your pain, lady. Sounds a horrible night. We have had to calpol up the past 2 nights too, and last night R only woke once. At 3am. So, if I hadn't stayed up till 11.30 drinking wine at my Jamie Oliver party, then I would be feeling like a new woman today.

pula well done you and S!! It shows it can be done.

here's hoping that we can ALL have a good nights sleep tonight

On the bright side, I made enough commission at the party to have been able to buy the two items I have been hankering after for a while. These are some desert dishes and a beautiful but unnecessary oak anti pasti server. I did say unnecessary. When we I ever get to serve anti pasti!!! LOL.

ses am also liking the sound of your outfit! Bet you'll look fabulous dahling!

belgian what does your DH do? Sounds terrifying and exciting all at the same time.

Hi all.
Busy morning out then had a friend and her 2 over for lunch. They've left, dd1&2 watching telly resting and Harper whimpering upstairs (I'm waiting for her to settle for a nap). so, I've got a moment to catch up with you all.

LadyH, I know that oak server. It is beautiful and it is unnecessary, but it's also one of those really nice-to-have things. sounds like you did really well at the party!

Pula, so glad for you and S's sleeping.

Ses, have a great time tonight, wish I could be going out with you as well. Have one for me!

Spangle, what an unbelievable poo story. I don't think I can match that.

Dandy, sweet potato is a definite favourite of Harper. i've roasted then cut into chips for her to hold. she then mashes it in her gums and over her face, very pretty.

belgian, your DH's job does indeed sound interesting and scary like ladyH said.

hello to the rest of you I haven't namechecked but am running out of time. I've got to email my HR mgr to let her know (as requested) my LM didn't call me this week. My LM isn't doing very well, is she? what a palaver this returning to work spiel has been.
