right off to feed G

night night xoxox lets hope everyone that needs them has much improved ones!

pulaparkin · 11/11/2009 23:28

I should go to bed too. S was awake at 10 for a feed, but has only just settled back to sleep . Not sure what was bothering him.

Last night i tried some sleep training, which resulted in S resisting sleep between 2.30 and 3.30 so i fed him, and he was still awake after but settled by 4. He was then awake at 5.45 again, but DH did a quick pick up put down and he went back down til 7am.

Momino · 11/11/2009 23:33

night Fi. pula, I'm never sure what is wrong when H is unsettled. tonight, she wouldn't fall asleep and her low-level fussing went on too long. I tried cuddling but then she started rooting so I fed her. she then fell asleep by 915. it just feels like one of those nights when she'll wake up. we'll see.

FiByTheSea · 12/11/2009 00:08

urrrgh have just put ds back into bed! G thankfully still asleep after her dream feed and sleeping in her cot. ds on the other hand is still awake and playing in his bed by the sounds of it. will give him 10mins and go back in again.. hope this doesn't go on too long or he'll be too tired for pre school..

muddleddaizy · 12/11/2009 04:44

Morning!

What a nightmare ds1 woke closely followed by ds2. Ds1 is currently in a mummy phase so we're all downstairs. Dh was moaning so I sent him back to bed!! Oh yeah & I managed to crack my head on ds1's windowsill

Its interesting to hear everyones weaning stories. I'm doing a mix of purees & finger food. Ds2 doesnt seem that bothered with food at the moment. Its the look of revulsion that crosses his face everytime something goes in there that gets me!! He's usually fine once he gets going.

Momi Hope you survived the night!

MrsMash Welcome back! I too am looking forward to seeing the posh photos. Was thinking about your childcare predicament, could you not work 3 shorter days or put your lo into nursery nearer your work?

Sorry for no more name checks, am typing 1 handed & my head hurts.

Momino · 12/11/2009 07:22

morning. muddled, [yawn], were you able to get any sleep? (no, by the look of your post's time). how's DS1's head? i've done that many times misjudging distances .

well, thinking the worst, i woke up happily surprised

Momino · 12/11/2009 09:22

back from nursery run.
just read my last post which sounded slightly smug. if you were annoyed, please know this: I've had mostly rubbish nights with bleary eyes lately so just was due a good night. if you're having awful nights (many of us are), this too will pass and you'll be due a Deuchars good one soon!

off to walk the dog. hope all are well and muddled is getting rest.

runningmonkey · 12/11/2009 09:48

Momi don't worry about sounding smug, I think we all like sharing the good and bad nights. I know that when I have a run of bad nights its hard to remember there will be good ones too so hearing it here is good

muddled I hope you managed to get a bit more kip and you haven't got too much of a bruise on your head.

Hi to everyone else, have done my usual thing of reading the posts since I was last on and forgotten everything I intended to say

runningmonkey · 12/11/2009 09:51

Oh yeah, anyone got any suggestions for me here

Momino · 12/11/2009 11:26

running, posted something, hope it helps a little.

HeadlessLadyH · 12/11/2009 11:47

Morning all. Its quiet this morning!

momi no you didn't sound smug at all. And we all deserve a decent night sleep! God knows if I had one, I'd be telling everyone about it!! If only...

running something happened whenI tried to open your thread and my computer went all funny. I caught a glimpse of something to do with dogs before I had to shut down.

muddled hope your head is ok. Have you managed any more sleep?

fi hope you're ok. Not long now till DH returns, and I wonder how grumpy is after her reunion with her DH!!!!!

belgian if it helps, I agree. BLW is a sloooowwww process. But I'm hoping the long term benefits will be worth it. We seem to be stuck in a toast/crumpet/cream cheese/strawberry/blueberry/fromage frais cycle at the mo. Have some broccoli and carrot to give him at lunch though.

Musical beds at chateau H last night. R was running a temp and had such a snuffly nose so I had him in with me, propped up on pillows. DS1 decided he wanted to join us so DH went upstairs to get some sleep. DS1 then decided he wanted DH. So he went up too. R's temp came down a bit but woke screaming at midnight. He managed a full bottle thankfully and slept till 5am. I did manage a half hour between 7 and half 7 whilst DH did breakfast.

R seems better now with some kiddie nurofen in him, but I hope thats it. Temperatures scare me.

Plus I'm having a Jamie Oliver party tonight. WHy did I volunteer for that? I wish I hadn't now. I just want to go to bed early!! It'll be fine, I know and lovely to have some pals round for a couple of glasses of vino

FiByTheSea · 12/11/2009 11:51

out and about still and just about to collect ds from pre school but will post something later running

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 12/11/2009 12:55

Fi what is that NZ link. I think I'll need it for all the presents now I have 3 nephews . I have bought presents this year to send but I keep adding so I think its going to cost a fortune to send. I must get it away in the next week.

Headless Mmmmmmmmm toast/crumpet/cream cheese/strawberry/blueberry/fromage frais cycle Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Momi Carefully DUCK

Oh I guess it wasn't too bad R fed at 12.45 and then woke again at 3 so I gave him water and tried all the usual tricks. I then gave him to DH who managed to have him asleep in about a minute not sure what he did to him. Some sort of wrestling sleeper hold maybe?? He then woke at 5.45 so I feed him and we slept till 8. I really want him to sleep through to 7 am I don't mind feeding once in the night but its the 6 am feed that kind of buggers up the day a bit. Still it's better than 4 feed a night which he was having a week ago.

I went for a blood test yesterday to try and find out what my rash is. They took 5 viles of blood . I had to wait nearly 2 hours so thank goodness I took my friend who took the dcs for a walk.

muddleddaizy · 12/11/2009 13:44

I managed to get the boys to bed at just after 5am, but couldn't really sleep myself and then ds2 was awake at 6.30am for the day! I've been at a mother and toddler group all morning so have crashed on the sofa now. Thankfully DH is home today and baking a cake with ds1!

My head is better ok now, thanks. It really hurt but I think the copious amounts of chocolate I've consumed has helped!!

Febes hope alls well with your blood test results.

Momi glad you had a good night! My brother keeps bragging that his dd is sleeping 9-10hrs a night - I just laugh at him and tell him that it won't last

Right I need to find a new iron...

Momino · 12/11/2009 14:38

febes, hope blood test results are ok. 2 hours at hospital - not fun.

muddled, so glad your DH is there to help and give you a bit of a break (I hope).

Fi, hope DS was ok at preschool today.

well, I've been on here so much because Little Miss Wondersleeper Last Night is now super clingy, whingey baby who can't be put down. I tried to put her down for a long nap at lunch time but it was never going to happen (was it?).

I'm not sure if it's her teeth or her tummy. she seems like she's in some kind of pain and movements indicate could be either or both. I've given her Calpol, now feeding her but she keeps coming off, screaming but when I take her away she twists back into me as if she wants more milk but then comes off again . maybe try putting her down again to see if she's sleep.

guessing game continues...

hope

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 14:50

Afternoon everyone,

My sympathies to all the bad nights out there. C hasn't been too bad, but still not as great as she used to be It's just so disruptive to get up in a freezing bedroom, rather than just a cool one in summer.

C had a good go at breakfast today, but slept through lunch, because we had m&b swimming at 10.30 and so she fell asleep once she had a feed at home. She loved it, even though I had to wake her up to go into the pool. I thought she'd be grumpy, but no, all smiles and splashing.

febes Hope they find out what your rash is.

running I had a look at your other thread. Good luck with conquering your fears, or at least with preventing yourself from transfering it to dd.

muddled I'm going to join you with the evel cackling. That sort of behaviour in a baby will never last

Ds is extremely well rested today after yesterday's escapades. So much so he managed to convince dd1 to cut her own fringe . That's his prefered strategy for mischief: the "get your little sister to do it" strategy. So now dd1 is walking around with a wonky and very very short fringe.

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 14:55

x-post momi I recognise that on off thing. C tends to do that when she wants to suckle for comfort, but then I get letdown and she gets milk, but doesn't want it. My solution tends to be to just take her off and give her a long cuddle + encourage her to take her thumb.

headless C is getting banana (I want to see those black worms I've been reading about, lol), carrot, potato, brocolli and chocolate sandwich. The only things she's actually chewed on so far is the banana and the chocolate sandwich.

Momino · 12/11/2009 15:08

thanks belgian, I've taken her off and put her in a sling so i can get something done and she's enjoying watching me. I just need a comfy sling - this basic baby bjorn hurts my back!

pulaparkin · 12/11/2009 15:26

Momino- i have a moby wrap sling which is pretty comfy. I know someone who has a similar sling they no longer need, so if you wanted to borrow it, i could post it to you? Or i keep thinking about coming to see you in York again if you fancy it. Hope H is more settled. I ended up co-sleeping with S as he just couldn't settle last night and needed cuddles/milk for comfort. Like you, I'm not sure if it is tummy or teeth. However, I am glad that after 3 weeks of weaning my milk supply has finally balanced with demand which makes S happier as he was getting fed up of getting a face full of milk and i was getting fed up of constantly wet bras and tops. I guess i shouldn't have gone straight to 3 meals a day and built up more gradually .

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 15:44

momi A moby is OK as long as los aren't too heavy, our age babies are starting to get a touch heavy for a moby as they start to sag. I've noticed the 'napsack' is for sale in mothercare online and Boots online now. Equally comfy as a wrap imo and much less scary looking and easier to put on than a wrap. You can have a try with mine if you want to, because they're not all that cheap. There are lots and lots of other carriers with buckles out there too, like the connecta, ergo, becco, etc... Otherwise, google mei tai, because these are beautiful and comfy too. Hope this helps you find something more comfy. Have a look for them 2nd hand too if you've found what you like.

Momino · 12/11/2009 15:50

pula/belgian, you've opened up a whole new discussion! thanks both for the information.

Pula, i'll let you know about the moby. H is currently about 14lbs but not sure if she'll gain more rapidly once on solids. do you think she'll be too heavy for it?

we have an NCT nearly new sale coming in dec. maybe I can find a 2nd hand one there or even on ebay.

FiByTheSea · 12/11/2009 16:14

febes the NZ site i found is IQ toys. I bought this for my friends dcs so hoping they'll all have a lot of fun with it. According to their confirmation email my order is being despatched today and should be received in 2 working days (as my friend is rural Tauranga). I'll report back when i hear from my friend... the present is a surprise ! I hope they they back to you quickly with a diagnosis about your rash too. I get hives intermittently and it drives me crazy with itchyness so you have my full sympathies!

Ds went back to sleep at about 00.30am last night thankfully. But G unusually woke up at 5.30am I managed to settle her without feeding her about 20mins later and then ds woke up at 7.15am. So today i'm tired but not walking zombie just yet. DS was rested enough for pre school so I nipped over to our local argos extra and treated G to this and ds to this for xmas. I always liked the train (a few friends had one for their dc's when i had ds 3yrs ago) and i had nectar points to use so it didn't cost us a bean ! Pre school had mentioned getting ds using things like remote control cars, cameras etc to help his ICT skills and I'm hoping he will love the camera as a remote control car will drive me nuts! He's been given a few in the last year and none of them have worked particularly well and he's got so frustrated with them that they've been binned .

muddled glad the head is a bit better.

belgian oh no! at the wonky fringe.. what did she think of her new look? I hope she's not upset by it.

momi G does the on off thing too. I think she's sorta using me as a teether she mostly does it when she's full, tired and her gums are bothering her.

running i don't think you were a wuss at all. I think you've got some great advice now i've been back for a good read and would second the find a good well behaved'un (that's not fang!) to build up your confidence with.

headless hope the temp has gone still and that your jamie oliver party is fun!

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 16:24

Just re-read my last post. I hope I didn't sound too much like a sling geek . I'm not, honestly, I just get carried away sometimes when someone shows an interest, lol.

fi Lovely presents for your dcs. I looked at that camera for mine, but DH said no, they don't need one. I did then proceed to educate him about the fact that xmas is not about what the dcs need, but about what they want.

headless Enjoy your JO party.

Just had a newsletter from school and my ds's planned b'day party will coincide with the school xmas fair, so I'm going to have to reschedule. Luckily ds had forgotten to take the invitations with him today. The annoying thing is that I'm going to have to buy new ones to resend, sigh.

SpangleMaker · 12/11/2009 20:26

Hi all.

Thanks for all the comments re nurseries the other day. I'm going to arrange to go back and see the first nursery (the more spacious one) again when it's busier. I've also had a good, albeit 2nd hand, report that it's good and the staff are very caring although the mum didn't like their accents (the staff are from Stoke. Unfortunately H is going to grow up around Stoke accents anyway so it doesn't bother me). I really hoped to be able to go on gut instinct but it isn't telling me anything apart from 'eat chocolate' .

running not a wuss! I would have been terrified in that situation.

headless enjoy your party. Sounds sophisticated!

belgian don't worry about being a sling geek! It's good to have an expert around. re your DD1's fringe.

Ooops better go. DH has been shopping and I need to help unpack. He was sent to Sainsbury's with a £12 off a £60 shop voucher (we've got one for each week for 8 weeks) and has managed to spend £100 even with the £12 off. Not sure this is actually saving us money

Belgianrockets · 12/11/2009 20:54

spangle @ your gut instinct telling you to eat chocolate. Mine's telling me to eat a bag of lovely Belgian style paprika chips, yum.

I had been wondering where dd1's hair had gone and I've just discovered it hidden underneath a cushion in the sofa. Funnily enough that's exactly the same thing someone here on MN had mentioned on a thread only just last week about naughty things you've done when little. Maybe dd1 read that thread and picked up a couple of good tips

Nearly time to go and watch that thing about the mum with 14 dcs, of which 1 set of octoplets .
