nice a full beaker of milk spilt across the lounge carpet..

muddleddaizy · 24/11/2009 08:16

Oh no Fi hope your day gets better!

FiByTheSea · 24/11/2009 08:26

lol surely can't get any worse?!

essenceofSES · 24/11/2009 09:21

Fi - you must be exhausted! Hope you get that nap today.

Owen slept for just under 5hrs again last night - that's now 3 times in a week! Only problem was that it was between 7.45 and 12.30 and when I went to bed at 10.30, I couldn't sleep! So I didn't actually get to sleep until 1.15am

Off to Jo Jingles this morning and then this afternoon I have a friend coming over aho I haven't seen for 2yrs as she now lives in Oz. She's over here trying to catch up with as many people as possible. Will be great to see her and introduce O.

Hope you all have good days

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 24/11/2009 10:04

Morning all! Lots to catch up on, so please don't be offended if I don't namecheck you all!

Fi - rotten night, hope you have a calm, peaceful day and a chance to catch up a bit. LOL at bread sausages!

jael - good eating! Well done that boy.

pula - I'm sure your Uggs are fine, hope you like them when they arrive!

sausage - fab photos, how gorgeous are you?!

jenn - good news! Stay well!

Crappy night here too. A was awake at 11, 1 and 4, then started the day at 6:30. I fed her at 11 and 4, DH shushed her at one. She had shocking wind, she farts like a bloke, she was obviously really uncomfortable poor thing. Not convinced that food agrees with her at all, so tempted to stop the food totally for a month and try again then. But I'm sure there's opinions that it would be wrong and I'd be depriving her or damaging her in some way. Some times you can't win, can you?!

I've got a cold too, pah. At least the girls are ok so far on that count I suppose! Nothing planned for today, was supposed to go for coffee with some friends but I've cancelled because I haven't got the energy to get the bus etc. Need to go out later though to get DD1 some new wellies, hers have all split, and anyway they're too small.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 24/11/2009 10:08

Oh, and congratulations to all the new aunties out there!

Belgian - how was your osteo appt?

tummum - all that moving around sounds hard work! My nephew walked at 9 months, was climbing stairs, shelves etc at 10 months . I had it easy with DD1, she didn't even move until she was over 1.

lol at grumpy santa - how cute!

Belgianrockets · 24/11/2009 10:36

Morning everyone,

DH hijacked the computer last night and then I decided to go to bed at the same time as him for once instead of an hour later because I'm MN'ing/foruming/tending my farm. I've been having dreams about us and maybe it's my subconscious telling me DH and I need a bit more time together instead of apart on computer and telly. Do I sound loony now?

Thanks for the questions re my osteo appointment. It was very interesting and it took them over an hour to assess my case, lol. It's actually the school of osteopathy I'm going to, so it's only half the price as usual and I think in a way I get a better assessment, because students are 1) very thorough 2) get double checked by their tutor. So basically I need a new body, lol. Apparently a lot of my problems stem from my feet (bunions (congenital not high heel inflicted) and high arches). Then my sacrum and the vertebrae in my lower back are very loose and mobile, etc... They did one or 2 bits of treatment, but obviously I need loads more, but they ran out of time, so I'm going back next week. I'm also going to have to find a chiropodist to have a look at my feet and possibly get some new support insoles. C was really really well behaved throughout the whole marathon session. They did get another student in to babysit her, but she didn't have to do too much with her.

I'll try to catch up now with events on here, forgive me if I've left anyone out

First of all: welcome back saus Your wedding pics are lovely. You look very happy and like you were having a wonderful time. I love the ones on the stairs of you and M at the airline for loosing your bags etc... Hope they arrive in one piece. And re: high chairs. If you want a posh one, get them to get you a trip trap

fi bread sausages! As long as they were tasty sausages, that's the important thing. Also hope you get DS back to sleep. Hopefully you'll get a nap too. Also hope your day imporves.

jael Gosh your J is a greedyguts! I'm not all that sure how much C eats. I seem to be picking up lots of whole carrots, but her poo looks like she's actually eating quite a bit of solids. Not enough to make a full meal though I think.

tummum at G. Though he sounds a bit like my dd1. She was walking at 10m too. Luckily C takes after ds and just sits there, phew.

pula good luck with the UGGS. Hope they're the real thing when they arrive. I don't want to worry you, but I did get some fake crocks of eBay once that were advertised as the real thing. I didn't realise they were fake until I tried to sell them on to someone else, who then accused me of selling fake crocs

jenn glad to hear you los are better now.

We had a broken night too. Has someone swapped my incredibly sleeping baby? She woke at 1.30, 4, 5 and 6, sigh. Bring back the days of 5 and 8.30!

C's just woken. Might make the last hour of the M&T group today. So gotta dash!

Momino · 24/11/2009 11:11

just read my last post - that's sleep not 'fleep' (a bit of ye olde englifh fpelling?).

also tummum, second the at G, won't be long now till you're buying shoes , clever G!

Fi, you're day will get better - it's got to! can you get a nap/rest today?

sorry for everyone else who've had awful nights. hope today is easy for you all.

I've got such a full day today: post ebay things, friend's for tea, bit of baking to do, and just found out nursery photos are today not tomorrow as i prev thought. dd's will have to go, hair unwashed, in whatever top i can find to iron at Quiet Time.

be back on next time BF to catch up with rest.

weather rubbish so house a tip. (that's my excuse .)

pulacracker · 24/11/2009 12:28

Afternoon ladies, what is it with our babies and sleep ATM? S was very unsettled last night, wide awake 3 times (only feeding back to sleep would work). No sign of teeth, he did sound like he had a bit of a sore throat though...And this morning he's only had a 15 min nap again.

At least it's just me and S today so a nice quiet day . Fi- hope things improve for you.

Momino- my DS1 wouldn't open his mouth for the dentist last time he went either. I have had to force him at the doctors before but the dentist didnt want to as he wants him to be happy and relaxed with it all and says there's no rush.

pulacracker · 24/11/2009 12:32

Belgian- thanks for the words of caution. I am planning to check the boots thoroughly before I accept them, especially if they don't fit right, as i will be putting them straight back on ebay and wouldn't want to be accused of selling fakes.

FiByTheSea · 24/11/2009 12:55

Thanks for all the better day & nap wishes.. must have worked but not as I would have planned?! After my last post i bf grace and popped her onto her playmat gym thing to play. Ds was building stuff with his Lego and watching some beebies. Well at 9.30am the phone rang.. i'd fallen asleep on the sofa G was still rolling around the floor & DS was still building Lego.. apart from answering the phone (twas my mum) and telling nanny mummy is sleeping feel really bad about the 2 of them being unsupervised for an hour. I asked DS if he had looked after G when i was sleeping and he said 'yes mummy G is fine.. do you feel better now?' luckily they're ok..

this afternoon i'm keeping ds occupied making pizza for our tea.. must go and make the dough..

belgian the osteo's do indeed sound very thorough with their assessment.. you'll be relieved to get sorted .

ses have fun with your pal.

flippin sympathies with the cold.. we've got snotty noses here too.

pulacracker · 24/11/2009 12:57

Fi- I often fall asleep on the sofa whilst supervising small children .

Well, you will never guess what just arrived today from Center Parcs- my maternity notes which I lost when i was about 36 weeks pg, which they said weren't there .

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 24/11/2009 13:37

Hi all,
Can I join the bleary-eyed? I have my cold back after feeling better for a day or two and this time DD and R have caught it too. They were both up crying wide awake at 10 last night but luckily some cuddles and calpol did the trick. R slept till 2 and then woke every 2 hours after that DD chatted to herself for ages but then slept till 9.30 am so at least I had a lie in with R.

I have had to feed R to sleep this afternoon as he didn't nap this morning and had a melt down over his lunch. I feel like its 1 step forward and 3 backwards with him . Last night I was thinking that I might be better not to have anymore DCs even though I had planned for 1 more but I can't take another like this. I'm just feeling sorry for myself.

I am tutoring this afternoon and I normally take the DCs with me as the mum of the boy I tutor looks after them (she also has a 2 year old)but I'll see how they are when they wake up. Maybe I'll leave R here with SIL.

Is anyone else's LOs waking after a short sleep in the evenings? R goes to sleep at 6.30ish and then wakes up 1-2 hours later. The last few night I have had to feed him again as no amount of shushing, pick up put down etc works. Its worrying me as I have a few nights out planned in the lead up to Christmas. My BF is moving up to Derby so is havinga going away party and I have my work christmas do in Dec (and my birthday but not sure if I'll do anything for that yet).

Me, me, me, me, me , me, me.......

Fi please share your bread sausage sticks recipe. I'd love to try it out on my 2.

Reggiee · 24/11/2009 13:43

Afternoon all!

Pula . Can't believe your notes arrived! Did CP put their own note in?

Fi . Hope you have a restful afternoon. Older siblings make great babysitters . It sounds like you seriously needed the powernap, and bless your ds 'do you feel better now' .

What are you coooking today Momi? Just realised still haven't baked the Xmas cake. It should have been stewing in booze for weeks by now. Whoops.
Oh, and thanks for the dentist reminder. I got a card from the dentist a couple of weeks ago and promptly binned it before booking an appointment. Whoops again.

Belgian sounds like our evenings- one of us on the laptop and the other playing computer games. We definitely need to spend more time together atm. Dh is on a stag do this weekend .

Flippin / Fi snot here too. Only just started today (on ds not me so far). On the plus side he is asleep at the moment!

Oh. Serves me right, crying from next room better go, back later.

Momino · 24/11/2009 13:45

just 5 minutes with a cuppa tea and rest of GU choc torte (mmmmm) .

belgian, IKWYM re: DH and telly/computer. i really need to work on our relationship as well. oh, maybe tomorrow.

sounds like a good osteo appt and hope you continue to improve so you don't have to get a new body !

Fi, I'm glad you got a sleep anyway. obviously your DCs were absolutely fine. you'd only have slept half-deeply anyway (does that make sense?) and would've woken if they needed you.

PUla, thanks for letting me know about your DS at the dentist. It does make sense for them to be comfortable at the dentist.

ok, time to iron and do hair for photos. hard work!

sithee later.

Belgianrockets · 24/11/2009 13:57

fi @ you being able to sleep during the day, albeit while you should have been awake, but hey ho. I can't sleep in the day time, no matter how tired. Except after a night shift, but being awake for 36h would do that to you I suppose.

pula at your mat notes arriving. In a way it's nice, because now you get to keep your notes for prosperity.

febes Hope R starts sleeping better again. C's worse, but she does last more than a couple of hours in the evening. I have been thinking about how I deal with her waking and maybe I'm stepping in too quickly or feeding her to sleep when she's not hungry and it's becoming a habit. Next time DH is away, I'm going to try not bf her before 4 and see if I can settle her without boob. I think that part of the problem is that she wants to suck her thumb, but doesn't like it anymore since her teeth have come through. I think that her teeth must cut into her thumb while sucking, so she asks for boob instead .

Talking about boobs. Ever since she bit me my left nipple hurts. I've been looking for my tube of lansinoh cream, but can't find where I put it in the move, sigh.

momi Enjoy the photo shoot.

My commiserations to all of you with colds

pulacracker · 24/11/2009 14:28

febes- S does often cry in the evenings but usually due to wind/getting arm stuck in the bars so I usually settle him with a cuddle/dummy/pick up put down. But after 9.30/10pm i will feed him. I keep wondering about doing CC but i'm sure S would just get too wound up, get wind etc, but i am feeling like you do that things are going backwards.

centerparcs put a comliments slip in but didnt write on it! The hospital did ask me to let them have my notes if they turned up, but i might keep them for a bit.

FiByTheSea · 24/11/2009 14:56

febes I'll post the bread sausages/sticks recipe from the laptop tonight.. it'll take me forever to predictive text it on my phone atm.. uhoh boobs needed back in a bit.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/11/2009 16:06
SpangleMaker · 24/11/2009 16:36

back at Grumpy

Fi you must have really needed the sleep! I'm sure you would have woken if you'd needed to. My Gran always used to tell me mums have a sixth sense. Bless your DS

Pula wow at sending your notes back. I don't suppose it would hurt to keep them. I'd be interested to see what they wrote on my labour notes but I don't suppose I'll ever get to see them.

Febes hope things start to improve with R's sleeping soon. I usually feed H to sleep although he will go off for a nap by himself if he's very tired. At night I don't want the hassle so I just feed him. I figure I'll cross the self-settling bridge when I come to it.

Sorry for those with colds.

Took H to be weighed this morning. He's continuing to fall down the chart slightly to between the 9th and 2nd centile for weight (even adjusted back 5 weeks) and on the 9th for height. He seems to be sticking to the curve for height though so not concerned. My HV (who is great) gave me a pep talk on BLW. I confess to needing a few words of encouragement now and again - ie will H ever eat a meal? - as my RL friends' babies are all putting away huge quantities of solids. I think it must be in my nature to fret!

There was a baby at the clinic who was a whole 2lb heavier than H at 12 weeks Just shows what a range of sizes is normal I guess.

SpangleMaker · 24/11/2009 16:39

That should say, who is a whole 2lb heavier than H - ie 2lb heavier at 12 weeks than H is now!

Jennstar · 24/11/2009 17:17

Reggiee I've made a Christmas cake late in the past and just soaked the fruit for a few days in a spirit....cointreau or the like, and then bake the cake and dose it. I've stopped making them though as actually neither dh or I like it very much.

Spangle Please read this book. It is so re-assuring. And also the book of my facebook status right now.

Jael · 24/11/2009 17:21

Just want to say Spangle and anyone else, I didn't mean to offend anyone if I did by saying how much J was eating, if it came out that way

I took J to clinic today too, after baby massage, and HV said that the vegetable puree's that J is eating obviously aren't filling him up, as I explained sometimes after 8 cubes, he wants more I added some baby pasta into 7 cubes last night which bulked it out alot, and he even left some, so tonight i've done more pasta, and less puree. She's also said nows the time to add meat and fish into his diet, so I guess we'll be starting that in the next few days or so...I'm abit funny about adding meat and fish, I don't know why also cheese/rice etc she mentioned too, as the vegetables alone aren't fulfilling his appetite, i shall see how it goes, must go give j his tea, be back on later xxx

Blottedcopybook · 24/11/2009 17:26

Hello hello! I'm going to try and catch up on the thread but fill me in on any gossip (Saus - congrats!!)

FiByTheSea · 24/11/2009 19:38

G still awake & dh on laptop.. ds asleep in bed and hoping he'll not want to start the day at 4am again tomorrow

waves at grumpy & blotted

jael don't worry no offense taken at amount of cubes consumed in a day.. all our babies differ in appetites, age and size. I find it fascinating & reassuring to 'see' all the variations

ahh G has just done a noisey poo.. back soon. x
