Belgianrockets · 20/11/2009 22:34

fi you talking about cake reminded me. I baked those chocolate cakes yesterday and I was a week wrong, so now I've got 2 chocolate cakes to eat myself. With help of dh and the dd off course

FiByTheSea · 20/11/2009 22:40

belgian ooo how awful for you to have to force yourself to eat all that gateaux you welcome to send some this way

llare it's lovely when they do those heart melting things... atm G loves to hold my face in her hands, gives me a beaming heart melting smile and then lunges at my nose to with intentions of sucking... or the scraaaatch down my face like grumpy gets!

smokytom · 20/11/2009 22:41

Ses glad O's sleep is improving- and so sorry about your friend
Febes good luck with the sleep training tonight
Belgian am sure the chin-sucking is actually baby kisses- Jake gives me big drooly 'kisses' whenever he gets the chance
Pula Jake is in his own room- has taken to it quite well, we use one of those movement monitors for peace of mind
Momino what a day!

Me and J had a two hour nap this afternoon! I fed him on our bed and he fell asleep so I popped him down- I thought I'll just close my eyes for 2 mins and zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Belgianrockets · 20/11/2009 22:48

smoky C just has to see me and she goes for it. She even lunges forward when I'm out of reach!

llare How sweet about G sleeping touching hands.

Goodnight everyone.

pulaparkin · 20/11/2009 22:50

fi- lol at G and her antics. S has also just started to show serious interest in my face- he does the grumpy scratch too and likes to put his fingers in my mouth, play with my nose, and then cheekily goes to grab my glasses

flippin- I am sat in front of the tv with my laptop, DH is on the PC in the next room playing games- no chat even though we haven't seen each other for 4 days . Oh he's just joined me. Bye bye ladies.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 20/11/2009 22:55

Right, I'm off to bed. Hope we all have good nights, me especially [selfish mare emoticon]

FiByTheSea · 20/11/2009 23:02

dh went to bed an hour or so ago! i've just been pottering on MN and oing my farm Night night flippin, belgian & pula hope you get a good nights sleep x

FiByTheSea · 20/11/2009 23:20

my eyelids are drooping... off to bed for me too i think xoxox

Momino · 21/11/2009 09:49

morning all. tried to post last night but either MN or my laptop connection kept kicking me offline.

night notsogood. When Harper sleeps through the night, dd1 keeps us awake and vice versa. last night it was H. she woke at 1am, i think it was her teeth. gave her calpol then had to cuddle her in 5 min intervals. she fell asleep finally at 2am.

she's sleeping in our spare room (fi, it's our dumping zone!) atm but will have to sleep in ours tonight since inlaws are here today/tomorrow.

belgian, I would hate to have made the mistake of making chocolate cake when you don't really need it! send some my way...

llare, don't worry too much about the knife incident. they forget those things, don't beat yourself up. i did similar with dd1 when she was 'trying to help'. so I apologised to her and made sure I praised her for a separate incident later. my heart goes out to you though as i know how you feel.

ok, gotta catch up on the latest posts before inlaws arrive.

Momino · 21/11/2009 09:56

good, not too much to catch up on... pula/flippin, most times DH is sat watching telly whilst I'm on MN or FB. doesn't do much for our relationship, does it ?

smoky, over your 2hr nap. sounds lovely.

Harper's high chair arrived and is set up at the table! DH insisted we get another tripp trapp so all 3 have the same so we used some gift £ in H's account to buy it and now have a small fortune of high chairs sitting around our kitchen table. I'm currently sitting on a cheap metal folding chair at the same table .

H can only sit in it for 5 min before she gets annoyed so I found her sitting in my lap for the fromage frais part of breakfast today.

hope everyone is ok and thinking of reebee and flooding. how is everyone else with the rain?

Belgianrockets · 21/11/2009 10:25

Momi at a DH who actually suggests you should get an expensive baby item . Mine would have a fit if I bought a trip trap (and if he knew the price of one of my slings ) C's loving her high chair now. She knows she'll get something interesting to play with when she's in it. So as soon as she's there she leans forward expectantly, lol.

We've got the same here re how we spend our evenings when he's home. It's either me watching something while he's on the computer or visa versa. I think because we spend so much apart our taste in telly has diverged quite a bit, so what he wants to watch I don't like and visa versa again. Hopefully once we spend more time together again that'll solve itself?

I've been thinking about reebee too. Hope she's not suffering too much with the rain. Kent has been fine. IT's acutally gorgeous out there at the moment, blue skies and bright sunshine

We had one of our better nights in a while now. I was actually tucked up in bed by 11, best I've done in ages. And C then slept until 4, so I'm feeling pretty good today. It's the xmas gift market in the village today. I'm hoping C wont sleep too long, because I'd love to pop down and have a nose at what's for sale. I've also had to confiscate ds's DS. He actually took it out of my pocket while I was in the shower after I'd taken it off him, because he can't have it until tonight. Now I've taken it away until tomorrow. He's become totally obsessed with the thing ever since he had this new game.

llareggub · 21/11/2009 11:48

We're the same in the evening. If we're not working on the business we are sat in our separate chairs on our laptops. I am usually mumsnetting while he frequents a forum for saddos print and design peeps. However we do have a thing for the series Bones so we order in 4 episodes from LoveFilm to watch once or twice a week which gives us something to talk about!

I usually tidy downstairs in the evening while listening to Womans Hour on itunes and DH has started to help. He told me it was because he really enjoys listening to Womans Hour! So there you, wonder if it would work on all men?

Belgianrockets · 21/11/2009 11:51

llare I've never listened to Woman's hour before. Hmm, maybe another reason that I really do need an iPod. Why wont anyone believe me?

Just came on to say that I've realised it's vice versa not visa versa. I knew it looked wrong when I wrote it, but the right spelling only just came to me now

FiByTheSea · 21/11/2009 12:55

Well the cake has left the building Phew! I hope they like it..

i've not listened to women's hour llare where & when is it on? i used to watch bones when we had sky (many moons ago before dc's when we had extra cash!) .. maybe i should investigate lovefilm? i didn't realise they had series stuff too.

belgian how's the chocolate cake disappearing?

momino we've had a few nights like that this week.. starting to catch up with me know..

Tummum · 21/11/2009 13:29

Afternoon all. Quick catch up from me whilst it's slightly quiet around here.

Thanks for all the advice about work, especially Dandy. The good news is that my boss phoned on Friday night to let me know the 4 day week has finally been approved. I wish I could say it's because I finally grew a pair and confronted them, they obviously just got their act in gear. Phew.

DD2 has broken her arm. She was messing around at my friends house, who was minding the DDs while we picked up our new caravan. She was still complaining this morning, so took her to a&e, and she has a little cast. It's the first broken bone of the family. After being a bit upset by it, I'm now seriously fed up with the blimmin. thing. Because it's her right hand, she needs help with everything so it's like having a toddler in the house again. And with G getting so mobile at the same time, I'm forever picking DC up and sorting them out.

Monimo we are getting G a trip trap too. Love em. Hope your sleeping gets better. We do the same with laptops / tellies in the evening too. Which is pretty rubbish because he's only home 2 or 3 nights a week.

Ses what awful news about your colleague . Hope the sleep situation continues to improve for you

Belgian lol re: DS and DS. Also what a shame about the choccie cake. Shame !

Llare very cultural, Women's hour. How's the business going?

Fi pictures of the cake please !

Pula fab catch up.

Sorry if I've missed anyone out. DS has just woken up after 20 mins . There went my 'me' time

pulaparkin · 21/11/2009 14:08

Afternoon ladies, well I had a good night as DH got up to put DS2s dummy in at 1, 2.30, 4.20, and 5 so i didn't have to get out of bed . So that meant no feeding apart from 10pm and 6.30am when he had a big feed and fell asleep on me from 7-8.30am .

Tummum- poor DD2- broken arm. Shame it makes things so hard for you too. My DS1 fell down our stairs this morning. He made a terrible noise (I thought it was both DD and DS1) and he was very upset but think he's OK. 16 steep stairs is a long way for a little one to fall .

And like tummum's G, DS2 has been crap at napping again, 15 minutes (and that was after needing to be fed to sleep). I am hoping for a longer afternoon nap .

SpangleMaker · 21/11/2009 14:29

Hi all

Going to attempt a quick catch up while H is in his Jumperoo - he's been there a while but is still happy so I'll let him be for now.

Pula I was thinking yesterday I hadn't 'seen' you for a while. Great catch up. I would need a pen and paper to do the same.

Ses sorry to hear about your colleague .

Belgian I suppose I'm too late for spare chocolate cake?

Tummum good news about the 4 day week. Your poor DD - and poor you for all the extra hassle.

Llare I like Woman's Hour but only get to listen to it in the car these days. I must get into the 21st century and figure out these ipod thingummies.

Re sleeping arrangements, H is still in our room in the cot next to the bed. We are still doing up his room... it's finally all painted (apart from skirting boards), we had a new window put in last weekend and have ordered some Karndean flooring, so it's getting there. I'm not in any hurry to move him though as he's still having up to 3 feeds during the time I'm in bed and I'd rather not have to get up. Having said that, I wonder if it's better to do it sooner rather than later when he has more separation anxiety?

The BLW has been a bit rubbish lately - H is not really interested. He has a bit of fruit puree (mixture between me feeding him and handing loaded spoons) and a chew on a rice cake every morning, but lunch and tea are not so successful. I can't seem to get the timing right - it seems he's either too hungry, too full or too tired! He did have a good go at some mini breadsticks today though, which makes me wonder if his teeth are troubling him.

Ah well, better go and rescue the little monster. He keeps shrieking at me then giving me cute grins

FiByTheSea · 21/11/2009 15:44

tummum saw your update on fb.. poor dd casts are so annoying

cake photos will be uploaded tonight when recipient is using it at her party that way i won't spoil the surprise..

pula hope your ds1 isn't too sore from his tumble

spangle love karndean we put it in our kitchen, hall, storeroom, bathroom & ensuite and best thing we did with our re modelling earlier this year. we got one of the ones that looks like wooden flooring and it looks fantastic

Just want to quickly say something before I go off and do some tidying and cooking before DH's whirlwind visit of the day.

tummum dd1 broke her arm 2 years ago (I found her little cast in her keepsake box yesterday when unpacking yet some more boxes). Anyway. The 1st 2 days she needed everything doing for her, but once she was back at school she soon learnt to use the arm that was in the cast again and before I knew it was like it wasn't there. I'm sure your dd will learn to cope and get dressed (tops with baggy sleeves were the best), eat all by herself and colour/write/play with her right arm again. It's horrible isn't it when something like that happens. Hope she gets better soon.

FiByTheSea · 21/11/2009 16:49

dandy sounds like a fantastic night last night and today sounds like a good un too.. princess curls made me how cute is that?!! i got the message that you're going to send me a message but no message there just yet

ReeBee · 21/11/2009 17:51

Hi ladies

Tummum your poor DD2 - and poor you, having to do double the work. I'm sure Belgian is right though and in a day or two she'll be using it without problem.

Dandy, I am so envious! Your weekend sounds like a dream. I want some of that please!

Thanks Momino and Belgian for your thoughts about the weather. We haven't sunk. We're 20 mins from Cockermouth and 20 mins from Keswick so things are pretty bad here but fortunately we're on a hill so ok. We do have a stream in the next field which burst its banks but we're a good 20 feet above it.

We've been to Cockermouth to see my Grandpa today. He's in a care home there, fortunately not directly affected by the flooding but everyone everywhere we go is so tense and stressed; there's a real feeling of sadness. We were also in Keswick - lots of shops shut, everyone looking at the weather and the river the whole time. We struggled to get to see G'pa because of closed roads, bridges etc, and two more bridges were closed when we were in Keswick. It's rained hard again all afternoon and there's nowhere for the water to go. Fingers crossed the situation doesn't get any worse.

F is fab. He's almost mobile - lots of rolling and desperate to get going but he hasn't found crawl yet. We felt the start of his first tooth last night so I've been reading the toothbrushing posts with great interest. He's also loving BLW. I'm still only really doing fruit and veg (plus houmous, fromage frais, roast beef and chicken... so, maybe not just fruit and veg then!) as he still isn't 6 months until 1st Dec. He gets so excited when we put him in his highchair and lunges for all food and drink; he's a real foodie. Just like his mum!

Right, as usual and posting and running. Lots of Saturday night TV and some wine ahead, woo hoo. We are still living out of boxes although I think we're winning the battle of unpacking.

Take care all, am going to try to catch up more regularly but this thing called real life keeps getting in the way at the moment. It'll never last!

FiByTheSea · 21/11/2009 18:57

reebee glad you're high and dry.. and that your gp hasn't been affected. G is the same as your F in the it's not going to be too long before crawling. G gets her knees up under her tummy and rocks forward and back sounds like food is going down really well

looking forward to telly tonight too.

essenceofSES · 21/11/2009 19:19

Hello!

ReeBee - glad you're not too badly affected. It is pretty awful though isn't it? My DB and SIL (I think I've said before) are in Keswick. They're only about a 10min walk from the town but fortunatel a 10min walk uphill.

Tummum - poor DD2! I fractured my right arm a couple of years ago (tripped over laptop cable ) and after a few days I found ways of getting round the frustration.

Fi - I'm also looking forward to tonight's tv. Just me, my M&S meal for one and a glass (maybe bottle?!) of wine!
DH is away as he was at Twickenham today for the rugby on "corporate entertainment" and they're on a piss up now. DH said to expect him home in the early hours!
