Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/11/2009 21:42

Just testing my new name

pulapumpkin · 01/11/2009 21:47

flippineck- hope it goes OK with the HV tomorrow. It helped me to discuss my feelings with my HV first and she then persuaded me that I should go and speak to a GP and suggested a good one to talk to and she was right . Oops, just remembered i haven't taken my AD (or mini pill) yet today - I am so bad at remembering .

pulacracker · 01/11/2009 21:51

Flippineck- great name. I have followed suit and changed mine . It's a play on "pull a cracker" incase it's not obvious.

Dandy- meant to say earlier i love the new name - can't remember who suggested it but it's very clever

DandyHighwayMum · 01/11/2009 22:07

pulacracker Love your name. You'll have to enter yourself in the MN Christmas Name Competition near Christmas (there was a Halloween one). jennster gave me my new name.

flippin I'll have you know it's not nearly Christmas, there's still many, many weeks left

Fair enough WRT wanting to speak to the HV first. I just didn't want you not to get any help you may need as you were waiting a while to speak to your HV. Glad she's seeing you tomorrow.

Belgian Yes, that is why the post was deleted. If sausage had been around I would have asked her if it was OK to leave it (as we all have given our kids' names on here before), but as it was a few days before her wedding, I felt she probably had better things to do

FIL stories Makes me feel sad that I don't have a FIL. DH's Dad passed away in tragic circs when DH was 17 so I never met him. By all accounts he was wonderful. DH adored him. Another coincidence, but through work I met a man who he'd been trained by DH (they worked at the BBC) and he told me wonderful stories about DH's Dad and how much everyone loved him. DS has his middle name.

I do have a father but any quirks he has are overshadowed by his complete twuntingness. He hasn't met DS. DD is 5 in Feb and has only met my father 3 times - all of which were last year at my brother's house or his wedding.

So I really wish DH's father was around so the children had a grandfather in their lives.

Anyway. You get what you're given.

DandyHighwayMum · 01/11/2009 22:08

Doh, that should be 'trained by DH's Dad'.

Monstermomi · 01/11/2009 22:09

flippin, what a lovely day out, so glad you enjoyed it.
sausage does look beautiful. bet she was buzzing. also bet she was a lot more relaxed when the day arrived.

PMSL at the FIL comments, especially at calling you 'mum'... that would really annoy me. I don't call my IL's mum/dad either. just couldn't do it.

I need to change my name as well but can't think of anything clever. gonna sit here and think awhile and prob come up with... nothing. I just may be a monster for a bit longer.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/11/2009 22:16

dandy - thanks for thinking of me and the HV, I appreciate it.

It is sad about your DH's dad, totally understand what you mean about a grandfather for your children. Absolutely not the same at all, but my grandfather died on Christmas Eve two years ago, and I still have great big hole.

Monstermomi · 01/11/2009 22:17

does anyone elso on here NOT watch xfactor? I feel so out of it. I did watch the end of it tonight just so I don't get left out of conversations with some of my RL friends but I have to say I can't really get into it.

maybe something's wrong with me .

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/11/2009 22:21

momi - nope, don't do x factor, cna't stand it. Don't like reality stuff generally, although I did watch Masterchef: The Professionals - does that count?!

Monstermomi · 01/11/2009 22:28

xposted earlier.
dandy/flippin, that is sad about the grandfathers. my grandfathers died before I was born so I don't know what it's like to have one.

my dad passed away in 97 but FIL is a good grandfather to the girls (and he doesn't call me 'mum' )

flippin, love Masterchef.

Monstermomi · 01/11/2009 22:32

off to read the lengthy Sunday papers before falling asleep.

flippin, good luck with the HV tomorrow.

hope everyone has a good sleep.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/11/2009 22:35

Right, off to bed now. Night all! Fingers crossed for peaceful nights all round.

DandyHighwayMum · 01/11/2009 22:40

I'm going to start a diet and exercise regime tomorrow.

There, I said it.

You're all my witnesses that I am going to lose ten squillion stones.

I am really serious about doing it this time for both health and aesthetic reasons. Not that there's anything wrong with my health at the moment, but long term I'll be much healthier if I lose some poundage.

If anyone feels like being my weight loss buddy (as the Americans might say) or better still, my mentor and taskmistress, let me know by facebook or on here. I could really do with having someone to check in with briefly week on week and explain myself to .

llareggub · 01/11/2009 23:36

I'll join you Dandy. I've fallen off the diet wagon and need to get back on. I'm planning on lots of exercise so that I don't need to be so strict with food.

pulacracker · 01/11/2009 23:42

What am i still doing up when DS2 woke and had a feed at 10.15 and DS1 is honking away so is likely to have a bad night . Night night all. YAWN

Monstermomi · 02/11/2009 06:58

Hey! no one's allowed to use the word 'buddy' here but me!

quickly - may i gloat?

FiByTheStormySea · 02/11/2009 08:09

urrrgh so tired.. 4am waking started here now.. got pre school run to do but plan to come back later to catch up.. x

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 02/11/2009 08:19

fi, I'll feel your pain. A woke at 3:45, DD1 woke at 4:30, and neither have been back to sleep yet

HeadlessLadyH · 02/11/2009 09:43

Morning all,

Gah. Babies. Sat night R slept 7 to 7. We did exactly the same last night and he woke at 12 and guzzled 8oz. Then woke at 6 for more. All in all not too bad, compared to flip's and fi's nights
but we'd been spoiled the night before. Oh well. He's snoozing now.

flip hope your HV appointment is productive. SOunds like your Sanctuary day with cocktails thrown in was a good medicine though. Maybe the govt should give us new mums vouchers for a spa day post natally rather than the HIP grant??

Am also really really trying on the weight loss. I lost 4lb in the first week of the diet I did a few weeks ago, then 3lb over the following 2 weeks, but I too fell off the wagon over my birthday weekend. Need to try hard this week as have a hen weekend to go on this weekend and there is rumour of a hot tub on sat eve. Funny how its because there will be other women there only that I feel the need to shed a few more pounds before then?

Belgianchocolates · 02/11/2009 09:52

Morning all,

Whoohoo! The dcs are back at school! Freedom!

We had a standard C night here. I.e. dreamfeed at 11, feed at 4.30 and then one at 7 ish. She's still snotty and chesty poor thing.

flippin Your day at the sanctuary sounded lovely. I like headless' suggestion of getting spa day vouchers rather than a HIP grant. It would do all us mums a world of good Good luck with your HV visit today too.

weight loss The bf method is working for me again. I'm back into my old clothes now despite a diet that's high in carbs, well, almost only consists of carbs and barely any veg or fruit I do have to wean myself of my bad diet soon, or I'll pay for it when I finish bf.

Got to send a few e-mails today and then have a major major tidy up now the dcs aren't here so the house is presentable for when my parents come on wednesday. Also need to go out to get a flash light because taking ds to youth club is very dark at the moment. One of these days I'll trip over.

FiByTheStormySea · 02/11/2009 10:07

Back from pre school run and sitting down with a lovely cuppa twinings green tea & ginger with an extra addition of runny honey for my throat/cough. I'm torn between having a potter on internet and having just over an hours kip before I have to start getting ready to go back for ds . G eventually went back to sleep at about 5ish I think it was and ds thankfully didn't wake up properly until just before 7am . Maybe i'll just go to bed really early tonight as hardly seems worth it trying to sleep for such a short time this am?

FIL stories have made me laugh

FiByTheStormySea · 02/11/2009 10:10

... that should have been cute in their costumes..

FiByTheStormySea · 02/11/2009 10:12

meant to say good luck flippin with the HV chat today...

morning belgian it's a relief to have some quiet me time again isn't it!

FiByTheStormySea · 02/11/2009 10:16

weight loss not happening here either... more like stuck atm. I will get back on the wagon but not until i'm feeling less cr@ppy... so can I take a rain check?

Jennster · 02/11/2009 10:19

Puke again. Going to express.

Yes Dandy I will join you and llareggub if I may. I half heartedly joined the weightloss thread, but didn't really join in. Coming up for 6 months and it's time I shifted my ass. My problem is wine and making healthy meals the children will eat too. I am NOT going to make some for them and some for me......
