Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 21:36

Febes - whilst in Ireland and since being back, O seems to be sleeping about 7.30-10, then having a feed and then sleeping about 11-1.30 and then I end up bringing him into bed as I'm so tired I start falling asleep whilst sitting up feeding him.
Not really what I want but like R he wakes frequently from 2am onwards and I guess it's still progress from where we were. I spoke to HV today as I got O weighed (16lb10 so sticking to the curve he went up to) and she said as long as he starts off the night in his cot and has a definite bedtime routine, he'll eventually get the idea.

Momi - I've never braved Ebay!

Salemchocolates · 29/10/2009 21:45

Momi That's just what's happening to me. I'm trying to get one of those cute teddy bear snowsuit for C (supposedly for boys, but who cares) and keep getting outbid at the last min. DH reckons they've got this sniper (or something) software that bids for you at the very last second. He uses it, but I refuse because it's not fair.

jael Spartacus was a slave in roman times who lead a rebellion of slaves. There's a very old film with that name, where the romans find the rebelling slaves, they demand to see the leader, Spartacus, because they want to crucify him and to save him everyone one by one says: I'm Spartacus! That's sort of the story in a nutshell, the Holywood version anyway Glad to see you're OK.

C went to bed at 6.45 in the end. She was v. tired and for the 1st time this week has just gone to sleep when I put her down rather than crying. I hope it's a good sign.

jenn How's the vomitting?

running have fun at your db's

Now C's 2nd tooth has gone through, her dribbling has improved a lot. We've got a tooth thing going at home this week. Dd1 is loosing some and dd2 is growing new ones, lol

Have you noticed MN is on the mend?

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 21:45

congrats to G on rolling !

febes, R sounds brilliant at eating. I gave cheese on toast to H today who dropped most on the floor to a patiently waiting border collie.

running, from the film, do you mean Ethan Hawke? about BLW, A sounds like she's doing great as well. H is ready. ish. she seems to try something, get frustrated and drop it, then twist into me for milk. oh, and have a good trip to Wales.

ses, on the DH compliment as well.

salem, re: DH, mine does similar. sometimes I have to tell him exactly what to do or he just won't think about doing it (eg putting H down for a nap at certain times).

Fi, you still on the ice cream?

Jenn, how's the sickness in the family? hope everyone's better.

pulapumpkin · 29/10/2009 21:46

zombietom- did you know Jake is the name of one of the tweenies before you chose it too? . My DCs names are all in the top 10 or 20 so we're common as muck too.

salem- my DH has real difficulty multi-tasking. If i am in the kitchen i will often make meals, put washing in/out, empty/fill dishwasher etc but DH doesn't seem able . I also often find the DCs in PJs or DS1 in his night nappy when DH has been with them in the morning.

febes- sorry to hear R is still waking every 2 hours. S is now more reasonable at night- usually a feed before i go to bed, then one around 3 or 4am and then wakes around 6.30/7am. But sometimes he fits an extra feed in in the early hours, which leaves me shattered. S is also on 3 meals a day around 8am, noon, and 5pm, with milk feeds in between, for example 7am, 10.30am, 3.30pm and 6.30pm. But he is really constipated- I need to give him some more prunes tomorrow.

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 21:47

am going to join fi on the ice cream incidentally. B&J's in the freezer (on a deal at Sbury's)

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 21:51

Pula, xposted. Hi!

zombie, I love the name Jake.

don't know what my girls' names are ranked but can't imagine Harper is very high on the list . Just one of those odd ones. Some people still think she's a boy when I tell them her name . I pointed out to the nurse who gave jabs her name was Harper Grace and H still got called a 'he'.

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 21:52

...

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 21:52

i just like that emoticon

don't i?

VampyJenn · 29/10/2009 21:59

Sigh. Dr said ds could have irritated stomach, or just keeps reinfecting himself. I've a couple of pots with little spades in the lid to send in samples. Bland foods, plenty of fluids not juice (durrrr) etc. All stuff we've been doing anyway. Dd2 puked minutes before we left and ds has been fine all day, stealing food where it was left out and a chair to be pulled up to reach it.

I've never seen Spartacus (or Sporticus Jael) or Dead Poet's Society.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 22:05

AIBU to want to whack DH over the head with something v hard?
We heard O start crying on the monitor so our conversation was:
me: could you just go and gently soothe him while I put my PJs on?
DH: but I'm watching The Bill
me: you're watching it via sky+ so can't you just pause it?
I go put my PJs on and go for a wee. When I come out of the bathroom, DH has taken O into the spare room with the light fully on. When I take O back into our room, the smell hits me and I realise why. Maybe I won't cook that spaghetti bol again!
Now sitting (in the dark again!) feeding O and MNing via phone.

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 22:11

ses, men .
silly men.

zombietom · 29/10/2009 22:12

Pula DP sometimes gets up with Jake at the weekend to give me a lie in but doesn't think to change his nappy unless I specifically tell him to!
There is a Tweenie called Jake?! I love the name no matter how common popular it is. Pula maybe we actually should consider ourselves as very fashionable rather than common

Febes hope you have a good nights sleep tonight

Momi must be annoying if people say 'he' when you have said H is a girl. People often raise an eyebrow at Jakes middle name (Piran)

Has anyone read that funny things that toddlers do thread? So cute

VampyJenn · 29/10/2009 22:13

And thank you all for your kind thoughts. I'm fine, just feeling sorry for myself...and I'm not even ill. I should be ashamed really. The skids are sick and I'm the one whinging now. I just have bleeding knuckles from washing my hands so frequently and not using moisturiser.

zombietom · 29/10/2009 22:15

jenn sounds like gp wasn't a right lot of help then?

Ses MEN! Grrrrrrrr

EtherealFiByTheSea · 29/10/2009 22:23

zombie I knew he wouldn't be. It's a virus, he's not dehydrated, he just keeps being sick, with nasty guts. I didn't want an appointment, I just wanted to speak to a Dr for reassurance 10 days is just a little too long. To be fair he listened to his bowels, you can't do that over the phone.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 22:29

Thanks for sharing my frustration ladies!

Jenn - don't worry, I'd be whinging too.

Fi - hope you get a good nights sleep and wake up feeling loads better tomorrow

Zombie - of course you're fashionable!

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 22:30

fi, hope you get a good night's sleep and feel better soon. xx

VampyJenn · 29/10/2009 22:45

zombie I've just googled Piran and it's lovely having a name with meaning. dd2 has Mary as her middle name, as she was due on my Grandma's birthday. Patricia isn't terribly fashionable and so we chose her middle name Mary, and May is the month of Mary. It would have been her first name, but somebody pointed out we would have a Mary and a Joseph and so we chickened out

VampyJenn · 29/10/2009 22:47

Right I'm off to bed. I fell asleep feeding dd this evening and I want to finish my book. Love in The Time of Cholera....I can tick off another top 100 books then Good night all. I've got cakes to bake tomorrow.

Salemchocolates · 29/10/2009 22:50

jenn You could have held the phone to ds's belly Shame that the GP couldn't help, but after 10 days it's sensible to go and see him. Hopefully the stool samples will tell you a little more.

I always think of the Tweenies when I hear the name Jake. It's the first place I'd ever heard it I think My ds is probably the most commonest of all. His name has been in the top 5 for years and years. In his old school there were 3 of thim in his class! I don't think C's name is all that popular anymore. Dd1 is more popular, but nothing like ds.

fi Goodnight

Jael · 29/10/2009 23:03

Jenn Haha oh yeah it is Sporticus lol I've just watched gladiatars n then thought you may have been on about Spartan , but I've just had another read, and I've caught up now lol I've never seen that film.

I asked DP about Dead Poets Society and he said he watched it on video a few years ago, and that I was probably not very old when it came out should I have seen it?

Monstermomi · 29/10/2009 23:13

Jael, you defn were a wee 'un when Dead Poets soc came out. but then, some of my fave films were made well before I was born... so you've no excuse, see it! and think of us .

Jenn, i love the name mary. do you think that's gaining popularity? I was reading Angelina Ballerina and there was a tiny mouseling (sp?) named mary and the name just stole my heart. if I'd read that book before Harper came along, she may have been called Mary. would have had to explain to her that she was named after a fictional mouse.

ah, better she's named after an American author of a great novel. no matter that everyone thinks she's a he.

Salemchocolates · 29/10/2009 23:17

Jael Dead Poets Society came out when I was a young teenager and I'm 31, so you must have been quite a bit younger. I remember seeing it at home when it was new-ish, telly premier? video? I've seen it a few times since. It's really good, but I like Robin Williams.

Right. Off to dream feed C and then go to bed myself. I've just discovered I've won tickets to a local baby show too and it's tomorrow, so guess where I'll be going tomorrow

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 29/10/2009 23:40

Evening
I seem to come on here when most of you are off to bed.

at gorgeous, gracious momi getting ebay rage. I'd dare you to send a 'feck off' email!

sleep DS has been ill on and off the past three weeks and only started sleeping through the night again four days ago. I must say that I don't envy some of you your babies' night-time waking. It makes me appreciate how lucky I am (and it really is pure luck) to have had two comparatively good sleepers. DD was a fab sleeper as a baby, going 12 hrs pretty early and having v. long day time naps. DS does 9-10 hours in a stretch - no dream feeding - but doesn't nap much during the day. He certainly doesn't consistently do the 2-3 hours some of your babies will. He snoozes in the buggie, but usually not for more than 20 mins. He will sleep for an hour in his cot. I suppose he has two day time naps, but he doesn't do both every day. He tends to go to bed around 9pm, sometimes 8:30pm. Can't get it any earlier though, which does eat into our evening but the pay-off is he wakes at the relatively decent time of 7am and sleeps through the night.

sparticus I've never seen the film, just know off the infamous scene and the cultural reference. I'm betting most of us on here haven't actually watched it!

dead poets I did love this. Was trying to place the 'captain' line and couldn't at first picutre the scene but have it now from momi. I used to like Ethan Hawke too. I think he's on stage in London somewhere?

jenn you deserve to feel sorry for yourself Looking after sick kiddas isn't much fun. I had a 24 hr vomiting bug the other week and I don't think I'm totally over it. Have had a dreadfully upset stomach today
