Jael · 27/10/2009 13:03

Sounded like you all had a fun night last night I was all tucked up in bed I don't think I'll be having any sort of hen night, haven't really decided yet...

Dandy Deleting you wasn't intentional, I've not long found out how to delete people from FB with the help of DP, I've just got used to it fully I think I'd deleted a couple of people I went to school with who I didn't really like, and who didn't like me, and I don't kno why they added me or why I accepted them I can't remember what your R/L name is, I'm so useless with names, I'm guessing I've deleted you by mistake, sorry, as i know i didn't mean to

ScarySpangleMaker · 27/10/2009 13:22

Sorry to wimp out on clubbing and kebabs last night girls

sexybuilder my vote is for Headless's 'other half', who apparently took the laptop for 'work purposes'. Hmmmm. Note, Headless was conspicuously absent from last night's shenanigans, and has clearly had sexy builders on her mind lately. Entirely circumstantial evidence, but a compelling case I believe, your honour.

Momi I would feel angry and hurt about an email like that. As Reggiee says it sounds like dodgy ground. Perhaps if llare is around she could comment? Try, if you can, not to take it too personally - your line manager is probably being lazy and thinks it would be easier to keep things how they are than to have another change and to have to accommodate your hours. She is well out of order though.

Monstermomi · 27/10/2009 13:24

thanks for your advice. I will reply either this evening or tomorrow when I've calmed down.

I've never got on with this manager. Ironically, she's american and one would think we have good rapport but it's otherwise. she isn't a very tactful person and not a great communicator (not necessary traits in a people mgr ). we didn't 'hit it off' well at the 1st and admittedly I got handed a mess of a job to sort out in limited hours which didn't leave a good taste in my mouth.

anyway, regg, she is on shaky ground at various levels and I disagree with her wholeheartedly.

Monstermomi · 27/10/2009 13:34

spangle, I think you're right. I was just about to ask for reduction in hours (maybe she sensed that?). I really want her to supply figures to me because I believe I was starting to grow the area and in a way set things up for my cover/colleague to continue this growth.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 27/10/2009 13:40

can't offer you any line manager advice momi but want to say your line manager is pants!

i don't think sexybuilder is jennster as she's coping with possible norovirus dc's atm..

i'm shattered.. have just had to fly around our place like a whirl wind as after my last post the estate agents phoned to say someone wanted to view at 1pm and we were in a right state!!!! just made it with moments to spare.. sainsburys delivered ten mins before they arrived. now going to have late lunch as i'm famished..

OP posts:
Monstermomi · 27/10/2009 13:42

just want to say, thanks everyone.

fi, put your feet up! hope the viewing went well.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 27/10/2009 14:43

while having a break with a lovely cuppa i booted up the laptop to have a potter about... and check out how my new farm is doing on FB I have to admit i'm enjoying it but can see it also being a little addictive! I had so many notifications in the end I decided to see what it was like, so if anyone wants to be my neighbour come and join us...

OP posts:
EtherealFiByTheSea · 27/10/2009 14:45

the viewing went well i think momi they looked around for 20mins.... so must have liked it i hope

SinisterJenn · 27/10/2009 17:25

sexybuilder was most def not me. I was however at a Sikh wedding. and left the pukesters with our lovely babysitter. No more puke since Monday so I think we're getting over it. Ds is eating today and has picked up loads. I don't think it's Norovirus any more, but it's a prolonged nasty bug what ever it is.

I was however wearing 'porn star shoes'.....did I tell you about those? Dd1 made me buy them

Momi What a nasty letter. I'm sure you're a brilliant employee, and you're maternity cover walked into a breeze of a job once you'd done the groundwork.

Found out my boss is leaving the company, and am gutted. I really liked him. I spoke to him today as he wants to know about me going back to work.....need to talk to dh tonight about changing my hours....20 hours in 2 days? Much nearer, I know the staff as I did my pre-reg there.......bide my time as a relief manager doing the long days and think about becoming a locum????????

I am also GUTTED I missed your hen night sausage. Sounds like you had a fab night. I was sober as a judge as I was driving, and if you've ever been to a sikh wedding, the men get hammered, and the women don't.

HeadlessLadyH · 27/10/2009 17:42

I wish that sexybuilder had been DH. Wish I had thought of that! That would have been farking hilarious but sadly, DH was actually working. T'weren't me either!

Who else was missing?

momi what a horrible letter to get from work. Not exactly motivational. I know v little about employment law, but just in case, keep the email/letter for future evidence. If she says anything similar and makes your return problematic or you can't go back to your job, you could have a claim.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 27/10/2009 17:42

jennster porn star shoes.. please elaborate further!! lol i have a pair of 5inch platform sole black suede stillettos somewhere in my wardrobe..

HeadlessLadyH · 27/10/2009 18:08

Just reviewed the evidence on sexybuilder's identity.

The mention of housecoats is what gave the game away. Am I right????

FrightNightFebes · 27/10/2009 18:19

I had to go to feed R at 9pm and so decided to go to bed and I missed a heck of a party!!

I thought Sexybuilder was Headless but it seems not. Not sure who else was missing but who ever you are faaaarking brilliant!!!

Congrats Momi and MrMomi () on 9 happy years- may you have many more. Sounds like a nightmare manager. Maybe an opportunity to find another job where you are more appreciated. I found going back after DD really knocked my confidence. This time I'm going down a different track with some supply teaching, maybe childminding/ tutoring... I need to resign....

Toffee, Llaregg, Jenn- Hope all the sickies are getting better and you nights were ok.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 27/10/2009 18:19

I'm not so sure it's grumpy (hello!)

Case For:

  • The sort of thing she'd do
  • t'was witty
  • Grumpy did make an appearance later on, so was seen by many witnesses on the internet on the evening in question

Case Against:

-It wasn't Grumpy who first mentioned housecoats, but llare

  • The SexyBuilder was a man of few words (if not actions , IMO Grumpy's sexybuilder would be more loquacious than that, and would have shagged us all by the end of the evening NB: But this is circumstantial evidence only
-Grumpy said she was dealing with her baby and didn't have a great night

Before the ruling, can we cross-examine some more people. Can running and febes please make their way to witness stand

(I shall try and catch up with the rest of today's posts later)

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 27/10/2009 18:21

Hmm, just x-posts with Febes

I assume as you pronounced them farking brilliant you won't be talking about yourself?

OK, we'll cross Febes off the list too.

FrightNightFebes · 27/10/2009 18:22

Wasn't me but I wish I'd thought of it .

FrightNightFebes · 27/10/2009 18:23

Maybe it was Headless' Sexybuilder who snuck into her house and logged on to MN read about us all and wanted to join the party

ScarySpangleMaker · 27/10/2009 18:49

Now Febes that is a pleasant thought

How about.... llare??

ScarySpangleMaker · 27/10/2009 18:50

grr.. repetition of style

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 27/10/2009 18:56

ScarySpangle - we'll just pretend your first 'style' is actually 'manner'

Could be llareggub if she was on two computers simultaneously

Or ... drumroll please: llareggub's DH!
She did say he was laughing

I've just had another look
Sexybuilder says he loves ironing
Doesn't grumpy love ironing?

Salemchocolates · 27/10/2009 19:02

Have been following the ponderings and though the evidence re grumpy being the guilty party is extensive I do not believe it was her because of the very very convincing point dandy made re the sexybuilder being a man of few words.

But then there is the ironing thing...

My original thought was that it was headless, but she's denying it.

t was definitely not me.

Anyhoo, DH is calling me for washing up duties.

llaregguBOO · 27/10/2009 19:03

Hello...still no update on sexybuilder?

We've been celebrating DS's 3rd birthday today. I can't believe my baby is 3 today. Where has the time gone? We're all exhausted and all caked out, though DS2 is tucking into sweet potato as I type.

Momino I haven't much more to add than LadyH. It is worth checking your house insurance to see if legal cover is included as I suspect you might be needing it.

I think what you need to do is to decide what you want to do regarding your return to work and then draft the appropriate letter giving notice of your return. If you get any hassle or obstructive behaviour then you'll need to submit a grievance and this email will be excellent evidence of your manager's discrimantory behaviour. I can't imagine how she'd seek to justify her comments at a tribunal! You'd need to exhaust the internal grievance procedure before submitting a tribunal application. As LadyH says, I suspect you'd have a pretty good case but I'm not an employment lawyer either, just a very rusty HR bod. But her behaviour is bloody awful.

HeadlessLadyH · 27/10/2009 19:05

D'you know I was actually quite worried that the real sexybuilder had indeed logged on when I went out last week and left him here all alone, but having a re read (and its farking funny!) the posting is too MN for it to be him.

j'accuse grumpy! Ta da.

llaregguBOO · 27/10/2009 19:05

lol...x-posts with lots of people.

I was not the sexybuilder and neither was DH.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 27/10/2009 19:14

salem I think maybe the answer to grumpy being a sexy builder of few words is this -

she/he was a sexy builder with a fussing baby, who kept being interrupted and had to go suddenly so couldn't do the grand finish that grumpy may otherwise have done.

All things considered, grumpy is the prime suspect
