twink have you thought anymore about the buggy swap, i have held on to it so if it's a no i will put it back on ebay

coolkat · 30/11/2009 17:09

Hi ladies

Just a quick check in as our laptop has been broken. On the upside of things I have kept on top of my ironing and wrapped any christmas presents I have which is quite a lot!

Just DH and the girls to finish

Drswife sounds like you had a lovely day.

Tegan wow a bed - good luck.

Tired hope you find your ring. X

We have bugs in this house, I feel rotten.

Will catch up properly soon, just had a quick read through, did PMSL at Drswife DH '12 months' to have a baby!!

twinklingfairy · 30/11/2009 17:40

Tegan I thought you said that you had put it back on ebay?
I think I will have to give it a miss.
I do think the buzz has more benefits.
The mutsy doesn't seem that much smaller, when folded, or that much lighter.
But the buzz turns around.
I was able to turn J out of the sun just a few weeks ago. Was a god send!

I have finally taken back my zapp, parents were holding it hostage.
Sis managed to wangle a seat swap. So now my once pink Zapp (though everyone and their mother tried to tell me it was red It was as pink as a..as a.. pink thing! It was blinkin well pink!) Well now It is most definately Blue!!haha
So I can keep it in the house for quick shop trips and fling it in the boot for town trips, but have the buzz for the, soon to be daily (I say soon, I am sooo not ready to put DD full time) school run.

Sorry Tegan, I thought you had made your decision and I assumed it would sell.
Try selling on here?

buthappy just iron over your stiches. Lordy, don't go to anymore effort on the thing
Oh dear, it is the kind of thing I would do though Dafty.
Did you not wonder why one side felt funny?

tegan · 30/11/2009 19:19

Twink thats fine hun, it didn't sell so will put it back on tonight. sil has said i can keep her buzz if i want but still need a something small for in the car

Yorky · 30/11/2009 21:07

morning all i know it is 5am but been up since 3due to dh.
the day before O was born dh hit a deer and totalled the car this morning he hit a wild boar, why dose it always happen to me.

Cricri · 01/12/2009 10:26

tegan Hope DH is ok!
Tiredmama Glad you found your wedding ring.
Another sleepless evening here, it's been going on a week now and I don't know what to do. E seems to settle OK after her bath, has a bf and drifts off to sleep but then suddenly pings wide awake and there's no point in even trying to get her back off when that happens as she's romping round the bed, chatting and no longer seems even remotely tired. She's generally in bed by around 6.15-6.30pm and usually asleep by about 7.15pm at the latest. Last night she didn't fall asleep until 9.45pm in the end as after she woke I took her back downstairs. She slept well during the day yesterday, so she shouldn't be overtired. I'm wondering whether to put her to bed just a bit later in case she's not tired enough (although she's rubbing her eyes by the time she's in the bath). DH has suggested giving her formula which I don't think is going to help in the slightest. For whatever reason something is waking her a short time after she initially falls asleep. Before last week she'd occasionally wake after half an hour of sleep but could be re-settled easily as she was still very sleepy whereas now she just won't entertain the idea. DH is on lates this week too, which means that I have to deal with her on my own in the evenings. I just don't know what to do, I'm fed up of not having an evening and I can't do any work because I'm having to watch E. Evenings are when I work usually. Yesterday I tried to put her in her cot whilst I was getting myself ready for bed just so she was confined and not crawling around everywhere, and generally she's quite happy to go in it during the day, but she screamed blue murder even though I was just in the room next door and got herself into a real state If anyone has any tips I'd be grateful! I'm hoping it's just a phase but I don't want her to get into a habit either.
Hope everyone else is OK

chocolategal · 01/12/2009 11:45

Morning ladies
just lurking but wanted to respond to cricri's post. Sorry you are having a tough time with the sleeping just now. Unfortunately we seem to be too.
I don't know if it's just coincidence but DS is very very clingy just now. I know someone said the age of 1 is a peak for seperation anxiety. Would this affect them at nights?
We have got into the habit of co-sleeping after the 1st wakening. DH & I are both happy to carry on with this for the time being but it is very frustrating when DS would normally settle himself again.
As you know DS is ff ( has been since 6 weeks) so I don't know if that will make your E sleep better. Does he mean so you don't have to do all the overnight feeds and that he can help?

No help or advice there cricri but just to let you know I know how you feel x

hi to everyone else

O has had a terrible couple of nights too, settling fine then waking every couple of hours

sparkletoes · 01/12/2009 17:01

hi all bookmarking be back soon!! xx

MonkeyMargot · 01/12/2009 20:34

howdy all.

Sorry to hear of those with DH's not pulling their weight (emotionally or otherwise) and sickly babes.

The Plum had just got rid of a hacking cough and cold, and she's already got another horrid chesty cough. She sounds really wheezy, like an old man. We've been to GP twice already and they just send us home. So feel like can't go again.

One question - I gave up breastfeeding on the Plum's first b-day. You may recall I could never get her to take a bottle. So now she does not drink any milk. With the exception of her breakfast cereal. Is this potentially damaging? I do ensure she eats other dairy, so 2 x fromage frais per day and cheese etc. But I'm concerned she's only having 1/4 pint on her cereal and no more. She won't drink milk from a cup - well not more than a sip. She just isn't used to having a long "feed" from a bottle or cup.
Advice welcome.
thanks!

Yorky · 01/12/2009 21:10

Wow, lousy nights all round. I just don't seem to have enough milk at the moment. She did exactly the same as Cricri's DD - fell asleep briefly then woke and played happy as a sand boy for another 2.5hrs past bedtime! How am I supposed to keep up with MN if I don't get my evenings? And then she was up at 2 and 4am

DS is being a nightmare again this evening, bedtime is just such a battle atm, he has a sticker chart and it seemed to be working but once he's been told he's lost his sticker he seems to give up caring and set out to wind me up. I'm getting better at not shouting, but still hate evenings.

On a happier note we had a good weekend, my parents came down and we took the kids to see DH carrying the Queen's colour at the Birmingham tattoo and they were both so good, DS loved the bands and DD fell asleep and missed her Dad's starring moment but I felt so smug when the families behind and to the side of us said how good they'd been!

LackaDAISYcal · 01/12/2009 22:07

just a quick one fromme (honest this time!!!)

monkey; DD was liek that for ages...only taking half an inch from a cup. I just persevered and eventaully got her taking more and more. just keep offering it but not make a fuss if she doesn't. And re dairy; it's a calciumthing so if she is taking cheese and fromage frais and leafy green veg, then she is probably getting enough.

Off to catch up but before I do; Yorky, small gathering at mine on the 21st December if you can make it? So far Ceebee, jaunitad, ladybuzz and I think barbareeba and hopefully Pinky are coming. Would be good to see you . apols if I missed anyone.

no time to pooter at the minute..too busy knitting!!!! Having a night off though so trying, and failing to catch up...tis changed days indeed; my "threads I'm on" has three threads and I struggle to keep up! A year ago I regularly had 51 on that list

PinkyMinxy · 01/12/2009 22:51

Daisy I can't find the messages about the meet up, can you FB the details? This computer is rubbish it crashes everytime I post on here and I only have my .mac email working, but I can do FB!

Hugs to all sleep deprived ladies, we seem to have weathered a bit of a similar storm here but all has been quiet last few days.

love to all x

barbareebaa · 01/12/2009 23:21

Hi Ladies!
daisy Would love to come!! Sounds fab! Am tres impressed with your knitting - wow!
Cricri I would try going for a later bed time. But what do I know?? William doesn't settle so well either but usually I get a few hours (3ish) off of an evening.
I just want to tell you that Misdee is lending me a Mei tai sling as am after getting a sling for bob as he is not a great one for a pram so she has very kindly offered a borrow of hers so I can try before I part with cash! How fab is that! THANKS MISDEE
Pram Right what do you all know about Maxi taxi cosi speedi blah blah etc etc prams? Just bought one for £25 on a whim - was advertised in local rag - great condition. I know absolutely nothing about prams - will has been riding around in a 3rd hand bashed in Graco so I'm excited that this one looks nice! It has a really nice fleecy cosy toe thing, rain cover, sun 'brella. Think I got bargain. Do you think?

barbareebaa · 01/12/2009 23:26

oof also wanted to say W has been a total boob monster at night to the point that I stropped out of bed at 6am sunday morning as he was like a boob seeking missile and I'd had enough! As lovely as bf-ing is - and I do love it but sometimes sleep is better! I wondered if they do a growth spurt but couldn't find anything about it. Unless it's something to do with new skills - all this walking and talking malarky?

Sorry I've missed lots. Love to everyone x

Cricri · 02/12/2009 06:49

Thanks for all your messages ladies, I had no internet connection from yesterday lunchtime (thanks Virgin Media!) so couldn't read them before now. It's reassuring that I'm not the only one with a LO who is having problems sleeping. Perhaps it is a developmental thing then? She has been really clingy as well and a total boob monster. We were down to just one bf during the day, in addition to mornings and evenings but at the moment it seems to be whenever she wants both day and night. My nipples are almost as sore as they were in the early days! Last night she didn't even go to sleep, she just fed quietly then started romping around and I gave in and took her downstairs where she charged around for a good couple of hours. Still, at least I got my Christmas cards started whilst I was keeping an eye on her and seeing as I had no internet connection I couldn't do much else She eventually fell asleep at around 10pm.
In all the commotion I succeeded in locking DH out so he spent 50 minutes ringing the doorbell and the phone before I actually woke up just before 1 am to let him in He was not impressed, especially as it's not the first time it has happened. Although it's apparently all right for him to forget his keys and wake me
Monkey E has had a cough on and off for about a month now. Whenever she gets a cold, which she seems to have constantly at the moment, it seems to irritate her cough. She doesn't sound chesty or wheezy though otherwise I would take her to the doctor as you did. I'm a bit surprised at your dr's attitude as surely they want to check her chest is clear? Can you not see another GP?
Yorky Sounds like you had a lovely weekend and how lovely to see your DH carrying the Queen's colour.
Hope everyone had quieter evenings/nights!

barbareebaahumbug · 02/12/2009 09:22

Well it is almost Christmas.....

ellielou02 · 02/12/2009 12:49

Hey all just checking in be back later x

tiredbuthappymama · 02/12/2009 22:18

what can i say but exhausted! Alyssa has had a MAD few hours. I think it may be down to teething but she has been inconsolable and constantly lashes out due to her terrible temper . But even though she was beyond BAD we had a couple of nice mummy daughter moments and she just wanted me. ALSO swapped DS from his big room to Alyssa's box room and Alyssa into his . Just another attempt at putting an end to his weird behaviour and he has been asking for a while to HAVE Alyssa's room as he doesn't like his any more. It was fun I tell you getting his metal bed which was wider than the doors through two doors and on my own.
On a good note going to Edinburgh on Sat until Monday with sis, mum and aunt for the x-mas market. Plan on a really nice time and hopefully me and sis escape for a couple of drinks on our own . Although a little nervous at leaving the kids with DH for nearly 3 days. I DIDNT MEAN IT LIKE I TYPED. I trust DH just he hasnt had kids on his own and for this long. At least he has family close by for backup. I will of course miss them all. Looking forward to the break and relaxing but just wonder what the house will be like when I get back. Eek!
Just thought another good note I've out my hols in and my last day of work is Wed 16th Dec until 4th Jan and going back to Edinburgh with DH! YIPPEE! Sorry will stop going on.
QUESTION How do I convince DH to get the xmas stuff out the loft?

chocolategal · 03/12/2009 01:15

hey all

Am on the dreaded nightshift! [yawn]

DS was at MIL's today while i slept and hes still not great, awful nappies and very clingy still. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon.
barbs pram sounds a good bargain!

My patients are all sleeping so off to look at holidays for next year.

hope everyone is having sleepy nights

twinklingfairy · 03/12/2009 08:25

wheelybugs
I think I m going to go with the small or DS will get no use of it until he is older.
If I get the large, you bet yor bottom dollar, DD would be using it more than DS!
Or do you think the small is just ridiculously small and could be a waste of money?
Help!
