PinkyMinxy · 03/11/2009 15:58

DrsWife I had a real struggle breaking into soem of the groups around here. Most were onto their 2nd and 3rd baby and were not interested. But one of my neighbours who is the sort who knows everyone but doesn't stick to a clique, decided to make friends and we are now very good friends. SOmetiimes you just need to find one person who is prepared to swap numbers with you and walk back from a group or something. I really think there could be a good friend for you maybe closer than you think.x

And re DH well we used to do all sorts of thigns before we had children. If he thinks he can just carry on a s normal whilst your life is turned upside down he needs a bit of a wake up call, IMHO .

LatinDAISYcal · 03/11/2009 16:48

at your DH, DW....yes, you knew he played golf when you met him, but that was before he had a family to be responsible for. Priorities should change once children come along and I don't think that cutting it down to every other week would be unreasonable so that you can get some "me" time in as well!......perhaps you should just announce your intention to meet old friends for a shopping trip and if he whinges say "but you knew I went on frequent shopping trips when we first met!" and watch his chin hit the floor

Just looking for some Christmas pressie inspiration for bumble, and found This lovely website. I am lusting after THIS but we have ride-ons aplenty here unfortunately.

quick post, supposed to be making dinner. Haven't even turned oven on yet [blush}
lacks Lust no longer!! We had that ride on train for DS1 and as cute as it was, it was a complete PITA. I sold it at an NCT sale for next to nothing in the end, just to get rid. It's really really heavy and so really really hurts when it falls over on them. And the steering doesn't work well if I remember correctly.

I haven't heard any more about SS tho I did sign up. Should I have heard by now???

gtg, love to all, especially those having shitty time with Dh's and DC's x

chocolategal · 03/11/2009 17:25

Ive had my ss email, off to check the dates etc now.

Happy birthday to autumnlady and ladyb J's

Sorry to all those having a hard time. I have definately found i am squabbling more with DH since arrival of DS.
As brill as he is with DS i dont quite think he 'gets' how much i do!

Must go, DS trying to shove a huge bit of pear down his throat!!

Yorky · 03/11/2009 18:18

Rosa - mrYorky hasn't add an email about secret Santa to an Italian address, sure postage wouldn't be a problem, wasn't there an Irish one too?
Has everyone else heard from him who was expecting to?

Quick post have just e mailed to Mr.yorky hope its gets there ......

coolkat · 03/11/2009 19:33

Hi Ladies

Hana sorry relate did not go so well, I am sure these things take a few sessions. Keep going. X

Happy Birthday J's. X

Twink hope going to look at the house goes well. x

Rutho have you sent invites yet? Is it to late to do a small famiy thing?

DW, I wish we were closer as you sound lovely. I am in MM where are you again? My DH is at work next Sat You are welcome to come here for lunch? X

I have had a really bad day today. I have just felt good about going to work again and feel I have some balance. The LEA have released plans to shut the school. I am so cross as everyone has worked so hard throughout the reorganisation, been reinterviewed for there jobs and after all that they announce this. I am mighty Pi**ed and upset. Becca is settled at the childminders we are doing 'ok' financially and now this. Why is nothing ever simple?

Sorry for rant X

Yorky · 03/11/2009 20:00

fingeroffudge - mrYorky didn't get your email did you send it to mr.yorky at hotmail dot com?

It is definitely worth resending your emails rosa and foff, and anyone else who thought they were in and hasn't heard.

There were only 10 people on his list, he'd rather not publish a list as it might spoil a bit of the surprise he says.
I quote, "I knew it wasn't going to be simple, however right I did my bit!"
Nothing chocolate won't cure!

twinklingfairy · 03/11/2009 20:01

daisy that was brilliant!
"but you knew I went on frequent shopping trips when we first met!"

Say it to him DW, say it please and tell us what he says to it!!

Oh coolkat that is awful
Will you manage to get something else close to home?
Sorry, memory is crap, are you a teacher or admin?

Am I missing birthday wishes
Sorry.

Happy Birthday to Ladybuzz and AL's babes!

Ceebee74 · 03/11/2009 20:27

drs am also at your DH. My DH was an avid cricketer when I met him and carried on - even though it ruined every weekend during the summer. He did carry on after having DS1 but I wasn't that keen on it but it meant I got to do what I wanted in the mornings (shopping/gym etc) but after Hamster came along, he decided that he would rather be with us so stopped playing - although I was going to ask him to he made the decision himself and didn't miss it at all. Golf is like cricket in that it goes on forever so I think every other weekend is a good compromise. Also love Daisys quote - go on, use it....

coolkat so sorry about your school - that really is cr*p Really hope something works out for you.

I got my Secret Santa e-mail - can anyone remind what date we need to have them posted by??? (yes I am too lazy to go and check out the thread )

Happy birthday to Cricri's DD for tomorrow

Yorky · 03/11/2009 20:49

sorry hana, he says your email didn't arrive, please retry asap, he has confirmed arrival of two more tonight

PinkyMinxy · 03/11/2009 20:56

I too really hope you say that to him, DrsWife. This is not the 1950's FGS.

LatinDAISYcal · 03/11/2009 21:10

the way the postal system is at the minute; posting by next week might be prudent

Oh arse for the job situation coolkat and for you as these decisions are never made on the spur of the moment so someone somewhere knew even through all the reinterviews and reorganisation.

I'm still awake, just! but we are watching a climbing film that we taped the other night and it's v intriguing.

OP posts:
PinkyMinxy · 03/11/2009 21:21

Coolkat thta really is crappy news

lol dAISY I am most definitely not awake..zzzzzz
But I am still folding laundry. I do that in my sleep now, it saves time.

ellieloooooooooooooween · 03/11/2009 21:35

Hi all,
Happy Birthday to the J & J hope they had a lovely day
am away to catch up now
Am angry at myself just now I made a stew today and when I took it out I realised that the handle of the lid had melted on to the lid, am now sat worrying myself about fumes (have health anxiety at times) it didnt go all over the oven or anything but it looks like a big black nipple IYKWIM, I got a mouthfull of smoke (had oven up too high) when I opened it and have a sore throat and a bit of a cough but have had the cold and is prolly psychological, tell me I am being silly

ellieloooooooooooooween · 03/11/2009 21:55

DW for you sounds very lonely I can only echo what pinky & others say and keep trying and do speak to your hubby and tell him how you are really feeling about this, even show him your post as it may be easier than trying to verbalise.
daisy love the train,I wanted to buy this for Millie for Xmas (and may still) here I love the shopping channels
hana hope relate can help you and agree that things sometimes are worse before they can get better
coolkat sorry about the school shutting, I know what you mean just when you think things are going ok something comes along to unsettle.
I now have an image of pinkyfolding laundry in her bed lol
We have had a breakthrough today, after months of me spoonfeeding Millie juice as she hates the spouts on cups, I bought yet another cup to try, the Nuby cup and it is nice and soft silicone and she is actually drinking out of it at last.
Ah well DH is halfway there now only 2 weeks to go (I cant wait to see him) he sounds a bit down when he phones I think they are having a hard time just now with work.

LatinDAISYcal · 03/11/2009 22:05

that ladybird chair is lovely ellie, but I'm never sure how the shopping channels work; way too confusing for me and I'm sure they make most of their profit on the extortionate postage . My mum was a teleshopping addict though!

I'm sure the plastic fumes would be more unpleasant than damaging, but get yourself checked out if you are worried.

and yay on the cup; I tried that one with bumble and he wouldn't entertain it, so I have a small one with a handle and a taller beaker type one, but with the same soft spout, if you'd like them? FB me your address! He has finally, in the last week or so, deigned to drink from a cup and has settled on the Avent ones with the hard green spout. He is also trying to spoon feed himself, with hilarious (and messy) results

Lol pinky at folding laundry in your sleep....my DH does that

AFingerofFudge · 03/11/2009 22:08

Yorky have sent another email to Mr Yorky, hope it gets through this time
Sorry coolkat to hear your news
Daisy hope you didn't think I was p*ssing on your fireworks about that train. It is cute, but it is expensive for what it is!!
DW really sorry for your lonely situation. I can really understand it, as we moved here to Hicksville as I call it, from London, and I must admit I had a very hard time adjusting to life in the country. Same as you, around here, all the mums seem to know each other because most of them have grown up here and gone to school together. It is much better now, but then again, I realize I have been here 8 years. I reckon it took me 2 years to get into the place and make friends. Hope that doesn't make you feel too depressed, it's just that it does take time to make this sort of adjustment. Whilst I'd never belittle anyone's suffering, it did feel a bit like a bereavement, the moving out of London, and getting used to a different way of life.

LatinDAISYcal · 03/11/2009 22:15

gosh fudge not at all ; I was never going to buy it as there are only so many wheeled vehicles you can fit into a three bed semi! And I'd much rather have a bumblebee Wheelybug

OP posts:
ellielou02 · 03/11/2009 22:19

The postage is a bit of a turn off but I have had some bargains from them before
Your mum sound like she was a character daisy you must really miss her.
LOL at bumble spoon feeding himself Millie grabs the bowl or plate then starts manically flinging it round her head, The cup is good as ther is no valve so easy to get the juice out of and when she shakes it it doesnt go everywhere as it needs a little movement to get it, I was getting worried as she didnt seem to take any fluid apart from milk and her urine was getting a bit strong so am happier, and the fact that I dont need to sit with a spoon feeding her it is a bonus (DH started that).
My dad told me not to be so bloody stupid about the plastic, sometimes you need someone to tell you to get a grip (well I do lol)
Am off out tomorrow night with girls I used to work with from Dundee so am looking forward to that we are going out for tea, think I am getting cabin fever so will do me good.
Good news is I have lost 1/2 a stone since DH left for work, not been pinning lol I just dont seem to eat as much as when he is here.

I would go for the big one hana, but I haven't actually seen how big it is. the Little one does up to age three though, and they sell well second hand on ebay.
