Yes dandy we read the gruffalos child every night. In fact dh read it to A every evening when she was a bump. We both know it word for word... She loves it already! I also read other books with her during the day. She already looks at the pictures and pages as they turn... Think she's going to be a bookworm like me Going on a bear hunt is a fave as is a new one my mum bought called 'cwtsh' which is a welsh version of a book called 'hug'

Reggiee · 23/09/2009 20:38

RUNNING great news on the hospital visit. You must be very relieved.

FF here and I do it the way you're not supposed to - add powder at last minute to previously boiled and cooled water.

Ds can't avoid bugs now he's licking everything including the floor / rug where our cats trample .

Reggiee · 23/09/2009 20:45

Meant to say I've been swimming this evening and thought of you LLARE whilst struggling through my mere 20 lengths. First time swimming since ds was born and tmi but the prolapse is not good for swimming breast stroke. Felt like I was weeing every stroke out.....

Tummum · 23/09/2009 20:49

Hello all. I have a cold and feeling snotty and shivery and sorry for myself. Sob. And I'm getting AF pains as well. Humph.

Running so pleased for your news on A. Also, great choice of colours for your rain hat .

I had no idea about the new guidelines, and have been happily making up all the bottles with boiled water every morning. I think I will go back to cartons as I am only feeding G with 2 bottles a day. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention.

Dandy and Sausage so great to hear from you.

Grumpy feeling your MIL pain. My MIL is being a PITA at the mo. It's the 3rd anniversary of SIL's death this month, and she (MIL) has gotten her knickers in a twist about posting tributes to SIL on some stupid website. Apparently because we don't go to visit the grave, we should grieve by visiting this blinking website. And at Christmas we could put 'baubles' on her tribute on said site. FFS. She can't accept we all grieve in our own way. I think I pissed her off by calling the website a FB for dead people. Oh well, am I bovered ?!

Sorry for not name-checking everyone. I am having a busy evening -feeling-- sorry for myself checking through bargain bundle of Barbie clothes I have purchased off ebay for DD1 for Christmas. Have bought a couple of yucky lovely barbies from charity shop and this bundle of clothes, all done up in a nice box, et voila, lovely present for DD1.

euromum · 23/09/2009 20:56

running we love gruffalo's child too. SUch great books those.

regiee well done on 20 lengths! I actually can't remember the last time I did any sport. Prolapse sounds pretty unpleasant though - I don't know anything about these things, are you getting some sort of treatment for it?

tummum hope you feel better soon.

I am paying for my smug comment about babies sleeping. Now that I have the wine open and the egg boiling, they are not... time to go and settle them, hopefully fast!

runningmonkey · 23/09/2009 21:04

Hope you feel better soon tum

right off to bed for me, can't deal with the night waking if I stay up any later... or drink wine so have one for me euro.

Wow - so much to catch up on again!

running - fab news about the scan, what a relief for you all.

reebee -boo, and yay (I think) for your job stuff

sorry to hear about all the mum/MIL trouble out there. My inlaws are coming next week, for 10 days. Oh the joy.

tummum - hope you're feeling better soon. And at the Christmas stuff. How organised are you?!

sausage - sorry to hear about your hip. Hope whatever they do helps, without too much disruption/pain.

euromum - at name choosing! And yes please to a glass of wine.

running - I keep meaning to get some Welsh books for the girls but never have time to look properly when I'm at home and don't really wnat to get stuff on the internet as I want to be able to have see things before I buy them. Oh, and cwtsh (ot cwtch) is one of my favourite words.

llareggub · 23/09/2009 21:39

My fellow welshies, do you find yourself singing to your baby in welsh? I've started singing "Sospan Fach" in a lullaby style to DS2 and DS1 always had Calon Lan!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/09/2009 21:40

Good evening all you lovely ladies.

Come back Jael , don't go away

running fabulous news about the heart and the weight gain, you sound more like your old self.

Managed a pleasant evening with my mum, she's really upset about going home. I looked back through my posts and realise how horrible I am, she's not that bad, she's just irritating and I am spectacularly tired at the moment. And missing DH really badly, he's always so busy when I phone him and I feel all pathetic and sorry for myself .

S gets called The Beast too, just by dint of being a strappin' lass with a hearty appetite. She has no set routine, no set bedtime, I just take each day.

She enjoyed looking through an old book of DD2's today, a touchy-feely animal book. She's just learnt to manipulate both hands and grasp things. Very clever .

I too am a lazy mother and will wean as late as poss and will wean by letting S try bits and bobs of my food.

I'm off to a mother and child club on Friday with my English friend and her adorable 2 year old. Should be interesting.

And who mentioned wine? I'll be cracking open a bottle or 10 tomorrow, red, white or rose ladies?

Who was camping in France? LadyHelen? Charente? I'm in Vienne, you were right close to me, wish we'd realised!

flippineck · 23/09/2009 21:42

dandy - Goodnight Moon is lovely, isn't it? Was DD1's favourite for months and months, can still recite it now.

jael - take care. Hope to see you back soon.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/09/2009 21:42

"right close to me"?

OP posts:
Momino · 23/09/2009 21:45

euro, a glass of cold white being raised right now!

going to enjoy whilst I catch up on all the chatting that was going on this afternoon (with Dodgeball on in the background).

Momino · 23/09/2009 21:53

Jael, so sorry to see you go. Do come back soon, let us know how you are. I'll keep in touch via FB

dandy, love, love, love Goodnight Moon. I, too, didn't like it at first but dd1 loved it and the more I read it to her I could see why she liked it. we just got the 'companion' book called My World which is nowhere near as good and DH and I can't stand it. that said, DD's love it, it rhymes well.

grumpy, that was 'reet close to me' .

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/09/2009 21:56

Eeeee Momi luv, yer not wrong.

Momino · 23/09/2009 22:04

running, great news on the scan. you must be so relieved.
tummum, i hope you feel better soon.

reggiee/llare, really impressed about the swimming. I need to get out and do more exercise.

sorry ladies, addressing everyone in short posts. catching up sporadically.

lovely glass of wine by the way.

Momino · 23/09/2009 22:05

well, I'm reet Yorkshire, arn't I?

euromum · 23/09/2009 22:13

Hi Grumpy - it was me camping in the Charente! We drove through somewhere sur Vienne on the way home - we were near Montbron (small place) and a bit less near Angouleme (slightly less small place). Really lovely area - didn't know it at all before we went but I would definitely go back. I hope you're enjoying settling in there. And I could very easily be tempted by a weekend in a nice British-run B&B!

Jael sorry you'll be away but hope to see you back soon.

Momino I'm on the red but raising a glass too, after finally getting the babes back to bed. Enjoy your white!

Off to bed myself in a minute - after talking in a pacifying and ego boosting sort of way to dh who just got back from the airport. He has wandered off looking wounded after asking "what are you doing? Talking to your mn friends again I suppose..."

Momino · 23/09/2009 22:20

nightnight, euro. I get the rolling eyes at the MNetting as well.

llareggub · 23/09/2009 22:22

My DH went along with the "can't beat 'em, join 'em" school of thought and is actually a mumsnetter. We don't know each others name though.

Jael have a good break.

flippineck · 23/09/2009 22:31

llaregub - I now have sospan fach going round in my head, gah. Better than the Peppa Pig theme tune though that was stuck for a whole day last week.

I get comments about mnetting/other forumming. DH says I have pretend friends.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/09/2009 22:38

Well, I'm not really real you know flippin

Sorry euromum, I have a brain the size of a pea at the mo. Not enough wine I think.

Momino · 23/09/2009 22:41

i'm about to apply for a job in the NHS but have had 2 glasses of wine and feel foggy. Good excuse to put the application aside and go to bed?
