Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ladytophamhat · 13/12/2009 17:43

hey haven't been around for ages - been too snowed with move stuff, we've had swine flu, coupled with dh's man flu afterwards, kids had ear infections and not felt much like posting much really.

finally into christmas though - tree was delivered last sunday and finally got decorated today - jacob helped and was actually pretty good.

we have threenagerish behaviour too - the world is just soooo unfair....

wrapping presents tonight i think - dh on his way to south africa for final visit before we go so a couple of glasses of wine I think and present wrapping will be sorted out. question - does everyone wrap what's going in stockings as well? I hate that bit and was thinking of skipping it this year (the wrapping, not the stockings!)

also agalch if you're around at all anytime soon can you CAT me or email me at lysette parbhu at babies in sheeps clothing dot com?

jacob is getting a thomas shed, some other bits and pieces, some books and a load of stocking stuff from us, sam is getting a scooter, some other smaller toys and some books etc and stocking stuff.

totally off children subject i had the brazilian blow dry (or global keratin) treatment on friday and my hair looks fab!

bloss sorry to hear your mum isn't doing so well. Am thinking of you x

HumphreysSnowCorner · 13/12/2009 20:04

Ooh, thread has got busy Better mark my place as seem so busy at the mo. Still not bought all my presents which is totally unheard of for me.

Took the girls to see Santa today, he was lovely.

Love to all.

just off to bed (watched changeling which although angelina was so right to have had an oscar nomination is not a movie you want to see if you have children), and came back downstairs for water, alright nurofen as drunk too much red this evening, and there is water dripping through one of the spotlights in the kitchen - now we had plumbers come in and change the water configuration in the bathroom up above the kitchen last week and have not used it since so i am wondering what the bloody hell they have done

also wondering if i should turn off the water tonight which means no heating at 2am which means the boys will wake up coughing..... or wait for plumber tomorrow

TheGoddessBlossom · 14/12/2009 11:06

what is this Changeling! Must investigate.

Poo re water Lady, just what you need.

When are you off to SA?

AnnieOneForMulledWine · 15/12/2009 13:04

10 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think I'm all done pressie-wise, just need to sort out food.
LadyT (can't get used to calling you that!!) what a pain, hope it's sorted. Hope you are all feeling better now, it's all doing the rounds isn't it? Joey's been off school so far this week with a horrible chesty cough and bit of a temperature, and now Mimi has it as well. He should be ok for tomorrow though, hopefully.
I think I do usually wrap everything, even stocking fillers. unless it's a tangerine, which I don't usually put in cos it's so disappointing!! DH insists though...

Frosty, hope you are getting some sleep!

Bloss, £4k is great for H's school!! Joey's school make £9k, but I think half of that was just donated by some business man whose kid goes there. My craft stall made £250!!
How was your DH and his annual hangover!?
Not too bad I hope!
I had my night out with the Mums from Joey's class on Friday night - really enjoyed it, got a bit glammed up (in old old stuff though but still) and really enjoyed the chitter chatter. The food was a bit crap though, I have to say, and as we ate really late (it was 10 pm before we sat down), I chucked it back up when I got home (not intentionally!) so DH thought I was sozzled but I wasn't really.
And it's been four-in-a-bed for the last few night due to sick little bunnies... coughing in my face all night.

Right well, back to finding more Skanz dolls! Love it!! x xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 15/12/2009 20:42

we had our night out last night Annie, girls chrimble do, secret santa etc, and the food was total bollocks there too!

Dh wasn't too bad on Sunday, managed to aquit himself fairly well.

Sorry to hear Joey and Mimi are poorly. I've got a nasty sore throat, it's like knives, but seem to be ok other than that. The boys have snot but seem ok.

I do wrap everything Flick, sorry.

Girls you have to do this in case you haven't heard of it. YOu load in details of your child (hair colour, etc) upload a photo, and you get a personalised video from Santa to your child. It's fab and free. Personalised Father Christmas Video

Getting very excited about Christmas. Just reminded DH we have no food in yet, and 6 people coming for xmas eve.....gulp.

Bloss

xx

AnnieOneForMulledWine · 16/12/2009 16:10

Oh Bloss, did you get a pressie then? We only had crackers, and mine was empty...
Hope your sore throat gets better soon - honey is great I find, specially in with a hot toddy
Joey is back at school today anyway, though Mimi is still snotty and coughy - she slept in her own bed last night all night! Yaay! She had her pre-school booster today too.
DH, on the other hand is just a big moany moaner, he's got the lurgy now. And we are going to see Depeche Mode tonight at the O2 so he's even more moany, even though it's HIS present for HIS favourtie band... my patience is wearing thin I tell you...

Hope everyone else is ok - it's snowing here in SW London!!

TheGoddessBlossom · 16/12/2009 18:11

er when I said 6 for xmas eve I did of course mean 60...

Throat is still really painful, and had vomiting and a runny bum (sorry) as well today. Just googled symptoms and of course couldn't find anything that linked it all. Could really do without the sore throat, how do you make a hot toddy?

T was a shepherd in the nativity today, very sweet, struggled in feeling like poo, and it was total carnage, but glad i went.

Took my mum too. Got to the house to collect her and she had lost her bag that morning, so she was in tears, and Dad was resigned and glad that I was taking her out. I then quizzed her about the bag, because she waid she hadn't lost it, she knew exactly where it was, but then couldn't find the words to articulate why it was where it was but could we go and get it? So she told me where to drive, parked in some complete strangers house, she rang the doorbell, and knocked but no-one answered, and then she got back in the car, and said to drive somewhere else, and I said, mum, how did your bag get in that complete stsrangers house? She said she didn't know, and that she had lost her bag and didn't know where it was........ Honestly, I was very patient, but how my dad lives with that I have no idea. She was so breathless and tearful, and anxious and completely unable to finish a sentence....

Ceebee74 · 16/12/2009 20:48

Evening all - my New Years resolution is definitely to keep up with this thread

Bloss your poor mum It must be so difficult for you all.

LadyT if it makes you feel better, I don't wrap up the stocking pressies. My mum never did and I have just carried on with that (mainly cos I hate wrapping at the best of times, let alone doing all those fiddly things!!)

I am sat here laughing at the Bratz stuff and all the clothes etc.....making me grateful I just have my boys

We put our tree up on Saturday afternoon - Josh helped hang the baubles on and did a really good job...and, even better, Sam has barely glanced at it, let alone touched it! Such a change from Josh - this is the first year Josh has not pulled baubles off on a daily basis

Having a few problems with Josh at the mo as he has started being aggressive towards Sam again (pushing him over, biting etc). It seems to have started since Sam is standing up which, with my amateur psychologist's head on, I wonder if in Josh's mind, Sam is becoming more of a threat, rather than 'just a baby' iyswim? The minute Sam stands up on his walker and starts walking, Josh is right over and pulling him back down to standing

Presents! Josh is getting (hopefully - if it arrives on time!) a Lightning McQueen scalextrix and some Thomas lego. Sam is getting a Thomas helter-skelter thing and Aquadraw and this really cool V-tech remote control dog! If nothing else, I think Josh will love using the remote control whilst Sam is on the floor chasing it

TheGoddessBlossom · 17/12/2009 10:31

omigod I watched the Changeling last night. Now I know what you mean LTH.

HumphreysSnowCorner · 17/12/2009 10:42

Am so struggling to find time to MN-such a travesty.

Emma has had headlice and is being a general pain. PIL are getting up my nose and there are too many festive school/nursery events!!!

Back soon!

AnnieOneForMulledWine · 18/12/2009 14:21

Gosh Bloss, 60 people! Are you crazy!?
(btw I never say 'gosh' in RL)
So to hear about your mum. Must be hard for all of you. Hope you are feeling better
HOT TODDY:
a very large shot of whisky
boiling water
spoonful of honey (or sugar). stir well.
slice of lemon with cloves stuck in it
(drink about six of these and you will feel better I promise!)
All better.

HC, what a pita for Emma. Will you shave her head? I put a drop of tea tree oil in the blob of shampoo every time I wash the babies' hair - my friend swears by this - so far so good anyway, as a preventative.

CB I'm sure Josh is just staking his claim as big brother. Sam will be all the tougher for it.

Had a night out last night with DH and his mate and gf. great night! Went to bed around 1am while they carried on drinking til around 3am. I'm fine, they are all sick as dogs this morning [smug]. Gf was drinking Baileys back at ours. Checked the date on it this morning - 2004... that may be why she's been chucking up since 5am... whoops!!

Depeche Mode were FAB. Great band. Good arena too. But a pain to get to for us - over an hour schlepping across London. Dave Gahan is a very fit chap, very energetic, considering he's around the same age as DH!!

Right, stop babbling woman.
Have a lovely weekend ladies!!

TheGoddessBlossom · 21/12/2009 18:42

Evening all you lovely yule tide ladies. I wonder what you are all up to right now...?

I am one glass on white wine in. Have had a lovely day. T went to nursery and h went to the CM just for a couple of hours while I went for a swim, and bought the wine and hired glasses for our xmas eve party.

Snowed heavily today which put paid to our trip to a candle lit nativity procession tonight. I was really looking forward to it, but actually not too bothered that I am not right now standing in the
snow freezing cold.

Sore throat has pretty much gone ( a sore throat for 8 days WTF?) but still have the constant glue like stuff (sorry) at the back of my throat, which makes all food and drink taste of it. Am eating and drinking as much as possible to try and overcome it.

Think I am pretty much doen re xmas. My new Ugg boots came today 9grey cardy style) they are my present from DH but I bet you £120 that he doesn't give me the money. They are gorgeous.

Having a mild panic attack that I haven't got the kids or DH or MIL enough stuff, which is the downside to wrapping everything a month in advance. I must have. Surely. Got to have. Have I? Too late now anyway.

Right, off to bath and bed the boys, and then drink wine, eat Toberlone, and watch tv. Yay.

Bloss

xx

AnnieOneForMulledWine · 21/12/2009 20:29

Sounds very Christmassy Bloss! Enjoy!
Have a mountain of kids' pressies to wrap yet... Glad you are better!

TinselPixel · 22/12/2009 16:23

Hi all! Sitting here having a cheeky festive vodka and orange (I've got a cold, it's for the vitamin C...) so thought I'd try and catch up.

Gorge pics Annie - they look like they're having a ball. The one of Mimi in her denim pinafore dress is spooky - Emma has pretty much the same outfit in the same colours, and the same hairdo!! I'll have to put a pic on FB too so you can see. Oh and re the Baileys - but you never know, maybe it's designed to improve with age

Uggs sound great Bloss! I'm sure you've done tons of present shopping, the trick is to remember where you've hidden everything. Hope sore throat goes in time for Christmas - keep pickling those germs, it works you know! And too re 60 - that's a proper party!!

I guess the sibling bashing is pretty normal CB, though you do always wince for the littler one don't you. Still, true that they grow up with a few self-defence skills!

Hope the nits are all gone HC - I had a worrying moment earlier, but I think it was just biscuit crumbs in her hair - do nits look like biscuit crumbs?

Pressies - so far there's balance bike, mini wooden train set, doctor set, (yet more) Peppa/C&L dvd's (as I'm she is sick of the ones she has)...

Just done a massivo Tesco shop - got a few folks coming here Xmas and Boxing Day, so I'm actually going to have to do some cooking, yikes.

Emma v v excited - only 3 more sleeps! It's lovely isn't it when they have some understanding of what's going on, but are still completely suggestible and believe everything you say She's not remotely interested in the decorations this year (unlike last year) - only in SANTA and his movements.

ladytophamhat · 22/12/2009 21:01

hey everyone - bloss WHY WOULD YOU watch it when i told you all not to!!!! It's awful - i sobbed my way through it. mind you I sobbed for the 3 minutes that I watched the military awards last night

we go on jan 11 to SA.

So I passed my theory test yesterday yay!!!! just got the practical to go, but i have a suspected broken wrist

HumphreysSnowCorner · 22/12/2009 22:24

LTH well done there but poo to a suspected broken wrist. 11 Jan

Bloss-you will have enough stuff ya know. Once it is ripped open people have no idea who bought what. Wine, yum.

Annie-nice pics BTW, I am going to sort through some of Sophie at her dancing concert but it will be in the New Year when I have nothing to organise.

Tinsel-am sick of nit treating. Emma is scratching like mad but am sure they are all dead. Found black bits in Sophie's hair when combing it with conditioner. You can't see anything when you search the scalp, I just happened to see the big blighters and they are not like biscuit crumbs. The net says you can have had nits for 4 months before your head itches so poor Em must have had them ages. The treatment is very strong and has made my head itch. Tea tree oil is the way forward as Annie says and lathering conditioner on and using a nit comb to check.

Am exhausted after doing a Tesco shop, 2 hours of Matthew screaming and a busy, busy shop.

Not long now until the big man comes.

Love to all.

has anyone found that santa tracker? must look for it.

wrist not broken yay!!! just badly sprained, jarred and bruised... so nice sexy tubigrip for me

so have an afternoon of wrapping ahead of me - should've done it last night but slumped in front of the bill with a bottle of red

am out with old boss for drinks tonight and dh is insisting on coming along - not sure what he reckons is going on as he swears blind old boss is secretely gay and is one of those real brideshead revisited foppish hair types... and also old enough to be my dad (just about!). still must make myself look glam i spose

had a microdermabrasion peel yesterday and boy is my face soft - softer than the boys bottoms i think!!!

Ocado shop arrived all ok today, turkey collected yesterday and christmas cake iced (it's actually the last tier of our wedding cake that has been in the freezer for nearly 5 years but miraculously tastes great! so christmas has officially started in the LTH house!!!

can you tell i'm turning into an overexcited 5 year old...

TheGoddessBlossom · 23/12/2009 18:24

Hi all.

Well despite my better judgement we went to Paultons Park today to see Father Christmas, as my sister's present to the boys was that visit. It pissed it down. We were totally geared up for the cold weather but not for the wet (ugg boots, splash proof coats for boys, no waterproofs etc) and we all got totally soaked through. Didn't even get to see FC as we couldn't hang around for 2 more hours, but at least we got their presents.

Anyway, Magic MIL is here now, crazy huge party is tomorrow, and I am feeling very festive.

Nice to hear from you LTH!!! Sorry to hear about your writst.

Right bath time for boys then more boozage, shocking isn't it.

HumphreysSnowCorner · 23/12/2009 20:56

Still snowy here so hope it lasts until the big day. Have been to Em's friends house for nibbles, stayed 3 hours and the children ran wild while the adults drank. Not me as driving (damn!).

Ordered a Fisher Price toy off Ebay for PIL to give M for Christmas but it is clearly a return as it has been touched up with yellow paint with a telltale drip mark on the packaging. Am going to try and return it, Argos out of stock so he won't get one until after Christmas now. Don't suppose he will mind. I am a tad disappointed though.

Bloss, are you boozed up already eh, eh? Hope you are dry now and the party goes well.

Better sit and think what I need to do tomorrow.

Bye for now.

ladytophamhat · 24/12/2009 08:31

so went out with old boss last night and dh joined us at about 9 - drank far too much wine and the boys have chosen today to YELLLLLLL very loudly since waking up time...

Am feeling festive though - some gifts still to wrap but will have trhe christmas music on at the same time so that's all good.

We are going to the christingle service at 4pm today with the boys so that will be fun.

has anyone seen the secret santa thankyou thread? tissues at the ready, or maybe I'm just a big old softie

All my presents are wrapped, MIL snowed in so I have been landed with icing the christmas cake she has made - and I have no idea how to do it. Anyway, chinese is on it's way, bottle of fizz ready to be opened.....happy days

xx

ladytophamhat · 25/12/2009 20:51

hey merry christmas everyone! dh and i drank too much red last night and pretty much passed out on the sofa!

good day today - not too much extra food, no one arguing, kids behaving generally ok and we're settled in with some more red awaiting the gavin & stacey christmas special

now revealing my parents are called Pamela and Michael and dad frequently calls "Pamlar" when trying to get mum's attention!!!
