Merry belated Christmas all

Just recovering from a couple of days of festive mayhem - lots of unaccustomed domestic activity from me - cooking and cleaning for up to a dozen at a time Luckily lots of drink was on hand to get me through it.

Emma luuuurves her bike, the chance of being able to ride it to the pub was the only thing that enticed her to move away from her pile of presents on Christmas day. She's also got a train set and Peppa playground set, doctor kit and loads of colouring-in stuff, so is in seventh heaven, and Santa is her new hero.

Hope all had a lovely time with plenty of festive cheer. How was your party for 60 Bloss?

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/12/2009 19:44

Hi all. Hope you are all suitably recovered?

Xmas Eve party went with a bang. Had a clothes crisis at the last min and ended up wearing all black, and got laods of comments about how glam I was looking! Kids ran absolutely riot, house was trashed, but everyone seemed to have a great time. Went upstairs at one point to find 4 pairs of kids' legs sticking out from under my bed terrorising the cat, and 2 toddlers on the bed playing with a helicopter. Everyone ate everything in sight, includng DH's Nigella Rocky Road which went in about 3 seconds flat.

Christmas Day was great, kids had a ball, got loads of pressies. Didn't realise until DH was opening his that the book he really really wanted that I had sent off for has actually never been delivered... and MIL's jumper was too small....but then again apart from some nice smellies and the Uggs I have bought myself, I got a pile of crap too, so ho hum.

Boxing Day was at my parents, which I was dreading, as Dh does not get on with my elder sister, and her husband is such a weirdo. Plus my mum is obviously away with the fairies, and dad is a stress head....but actually it was a great day, realy chilled out and the boys were angels, compared to their behaviour on Christmas Day, which was a bit out of control..apart from my mum hating all her presents from me, to the point of sayig she wanted to kill me it was a very good day!

Taking the boys swimming tomorrow, and Dh at work this week so will get out an about with them and prepare ourselves for a debauched NYE!!!

See you soon ladies.

Bloss

xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/12/2009 19:45

oh and DH cooked the most amazing Christmas lunch, he really out did himself, the turkey was divine, and all the trimmings, totally lush.

Ceebee74 · 27/12/2009 20:16

Had a lovely Christmas here too This was the first year that Josh 'got' Father Christmas iyswim and it has been lovely to watch. He ended up opening his stocking by himself at 5.30am as me and DH were too lazy tired to get out of bed - I do feel a bit guilty about that but tbh, I remember always sitting on my bed by myself and opening it!! His main pressies were a Lightning McQueen scalectrix and Thomas lego (which is his definite fave pressie). Sam's were a remote control toy dog and a Thomas helter skelter thing - plus they both got loads of other stuff.

Had my parents and MIL round on Christmas Day and then MIL and BIL & gf came round on Boxing Day so didn't really sit down for 2 days - it was a relief when they left yesterday and I could put my PJ's on and CHILL!!

Will catch up more later xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/12/2009 21:20

Hey CB. I avoid that happening by putting all stockings down by the fire place. I managed to hold them off getting to them till about 7.30am, and then insisted we were all breakfasted and dressed before we did the rest under the tree, but it was still only 9.45ish!

We did all have our stockings on our beds as children, and were encouraged to open ours on our own!

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/12/2009 21:21

Must stop eating stilton/toblerone/christmas cake/mince pies/quality street. I dread to think how much weight I have gained this week....

TinselPixel · 27/12/2009 22:30

Me too Bloss... just had a huge portion of bubble and squeak on top of everything else

Aw bless Josh opening his own stocking. I seem to remember I always opened mine on my own too, then went running in to wake up the parents and show them what Santa had left, bet they were thrilled

ladytophamhat · 28/12/2009 08:17

santa was actually really good to me this year - but then I did go shopping for it all myself...

went to the sales yesterday - we are now into stocking up mode for the boys for clothes for SA as obviously there will be nothing in Joburg that will fit them - my lowest moment was in Hackett when the manager said "I need some help packing here, I've got a big one!" A huge amount spent and none on me in that store, which was good! Space NK sale is good too - lots of scented candles which make great gifts through the year. God I'm sad! And Zara - managed to get a dress for NYE as going to friends dinner and dancing and the dress code is "dresses for girls" - given all my dresses and heels are on their way to SA I just HAD to get myself something new

anyway, must away, the boys are fighting over their favourite gift - a plastic slinky! The remote controlled car, scooter etc are all in the corner and they're fighting over that!

Ceebee74 · 28/12/2009 18:12

LTH - I was just reading another thread about when to buy shoes for DC's and someone linked to your website Just thought you would like to know!!

I am sat here wondering how Josh and Sam could have all these toys and they seem to be bored of them already - I am sure it was different when we were kids

Am going to a local zoo tomorrow with my sister and family - it is going to be SO cold!!!

ladytophamhat · 28/12/2009 18:33

CB can you link?
is it supposed to be really cold tomorrow?

Ceebee74 · 28/12/2009 20:55

LTH - here it is.

Don't forget, I am up north and it is always much colder up here anyway - max temp of 2 I think. Fine for getting in and out of a car but walking round a zoo for 4 or 5 hours???? Must be mad but, otoh, I have to get Josh out of the house before we all go crazy

Ceebee74 · 28/12/2009 20:55

Sorry - on the link, it is Mmelindt's post at about 18.30.

Ceebee74 · 28/12/2009 20:56

Nope - make it 17.54

ladytophamhat · 29/12/2009 18:31

found it cheers cb! it's just been pissing down all day here....

driving lessons going seemingly ok - parallel parking still not great but i'll get there! rest of it seems to be sinking in though.

jacob's behaviour has gone downhill again - we're having one warning and then time out on boot camp for the next few days to get him back on track

not much else to report from here

HumphreysSnowCorner · 29/12/2009 21:59

Hello all

Seems strange not to having anything to worry about plan. So nice to be able to chill and play with the girls.

LTH-I took 5 driving tests so cannot offer any wordly advice.

Ceebee-Sophie asked when she would be getting more presents and got Emma's old jigsaws out ignoring all her new ones and Emma wanted to buy a toy today. They are both playing with Matthew's toys so have taken them away as they will be wrecked before he gets them.

Went to MIL's yesterday for lunch which was nice. Went into town today to exchange Sophie's Peppa Pig car as the horn only worked for one day. Trying to explain to the girls that I had E-Mailed Santa and he said to take it back to Argos was a tad difficult as Emma asks far too many questions. Had lunch in M&S cafe bit struggled to get a table as everyone kept grabbing tables before buying and as I had the pram while DH queued I couldn't grab seats in time so ended up with Em & Soph on one table (they wanted to sit together) and me and DH on a table behind them. A couple of ladies commented about leaving the children on their own but they were only a metre away and I watched the whole time. Didn't enjoy my food as was on edge as worrying about what other people think as usual. Need assertive lessons from Bloss, spin and LTH and any other assertive ladeez.

No plans for New Year, if SIL not doing anything then we will stay at home as I am not catering again. Not looking forward to starting my diet, will have to cut things out gradually and if that doesn't work I will have to follow my WW plan.

Love to all!

Happy New Year ladies!

Staying home tonight for the first time in about 20 years. SIL did invite us but both her and BIL and DH have got this man flu cold type thing we said not to worry. Have made a rice salad which we can eat with leftover food from Christmas Day.

Been on the PS3 Songstar again singing Take That and Abba.

Have a good evening.

we're off out to a friend's round the corner for dinner and dancing! we're all bringing something and I volunteered dessert - so fruit tarts with heaps of chantilly cream and one with strawberries and one with raspberries.

I think I'm going to get myself in a bit of trouble on a chat thread - someone very kindly suggested that I may want to change my name as there was a previous LTH (who hasn't been on here for ages) in a very cliquey kind of way. so I have replied in a not so tactful way - I just can't be bothered with all the stupid crap that goes on - it was really inferred that I must be so new and trying to be cool. Fuck em...

Anyone else's kids being absolutely unbearable at the moment? The boys are just at each other - kicking, fighting and biting or else wingeing at me. Have had permanent headache for 4 days now

We also have chinese lanterns to let off tonight - hope they don't get caught in any trees etc .

Have a great new year everyone - I'll look forward to hearing all NYresolutions come tomorrow

Ceebee74 · 31/12/2009 20:21

Happy New Year to you all xx

LTH I wouldn't give a flying hoot what other people on here thing - storm in a teacup and all that. Ignore them and you stay as you are

And yes, my 2 are driving me a little bit potty although they have both been at nursery yesterday and today so we have all had a bit of breathing space from each other!!

Hope you all have a lovely evening - staying in here too with a bottle of wine and tea courtesy of M&S. Very much doubt I will see in the New Year but not really bothered!!

God it is sooooo depressing here. Roll on the morning when it will all be over and everyone will have a hangover and I won't. Both and Will be seeing the New Year in with Matthew at this rate!

so we got in at 2am.....
Dh still in bed and i've been up with the kids since 6am - a tad tired! still will get a good nap in later today - DH sooooo owes me.

Happy New Year everyone

TheGoddessBlossom · 01/01/2010 17:51

We went to friends and drank far too much and Kareoke'd into the wee small hours. Feel not too bad today, just knackered, but DH has of course not left the sofa all day. H and I went for a lovely long walk, great to get some fresh air.

I am on a major diet starting tomorrow.

H and T had driven me barmy this week, constant fighting, and arguing. On their own they are really good, just together they are a nightmare.

Happy New year all!
