Some snowtos of my own.

ladytophamhat · 22/01/2010 09:16

Annie - you can all come out here - although we've got half of DH's london office coming out here at the same time so I suspect it's going to be tents on the lawn for them all - still should deter any prospective house invadors.... yes armed robbery in your house is a big thing here so we have the joys of 4m high walls, electric fences with wire on top, garden beams, 4 cameras, sentry box, electric gates.... Nice house though

So jacob is settling well at pre-school, or school as he now calls it! Yesterday he had juice at school which turned out to be powdered stuff that you put with water (Spin do you still get Tang in Oz - it was the equivalent to that) with sugar and aspartane in....no wonder he was climbing over everything and bouncing off the walls!!

So I'm on a huge diet as well - 4.5kg lost since we got here so that's something, although cutting out drinking is the less fun part of it. still we had some champagne last night to celebrate and i had just over half a bottle and felt dreadful - I've turned into a cheap date...

Anyway, just off to get jacb from "school" so will post more and some pics later - it's sunny today which makes a change from the tropical rain we've been having

HumphreysCorner · 22/01/2010 11:13

Bloss-lol at you debating No 3. I am having the same quandry over No 4 Anyone on here have 4? agalch?

Annie-love your snowtos too. Tried to do some last night and FB was sooooo slowwww so gave up.

LTH-glad the boys are settling. Have just caught the end of Move Down Under on BBC1 and the little boy was so sad about leaving his friends in the UK. He was older than your two though. His dad promised him a laptop with a webcam if he agreed to move.

The boy needs feeding so will make a cuppa and have a sit down.

HC, I'll be blunt, you are CRAZY! But I'm stuck on two so I can't judge. I think if you have three though, you have to try for another to balance things out!! But not me... Bloss I'm sure it's the right decision for you

LadyT, thanks for the offer, we'll be over in June then! For a month is that ok? And maybe stay a couple of extra weeks, just to relax... [wishful].Seriously though, glad you've got your secure house and are settling. Well done on the weight loss! Inspiring!

Still have the IL's at home, so I think I may have to work a little late this evening . Been sorting out people to help pick up from school from next week, people are so so kind...
OTOH DH thinks the pub is too far away for him to walk on his crutches, so won't be going there either for the foreseeable...
Am cooking them fabulous dinners every evening though, least I can do really (hide in the kitchen drinking Rioja for three hours, they're impressed!)

Great snowtos everyone - all mine are on my mobile and haven't worked out how to download them yet

HC - 4??? Really????? You crazy woman!!! I am also completely done with 2 and just waiting (imparitently!) for DH to get himself to the doctors!!!

LTH - glad you have settled in ok and am just a lot tiny bit of the warmth and sun Bet you are glad the move is over now!

Well today, Josh decided to start weeing like a big boy - stood up!! We were at a party and he went to the toilet with one of his friends who did it so Josh copied. I was at how he knew how to do it and hold his willy and everything...and then he informed me that that is how they do it at nursery. My baby is growing up fast

Speaking of my babies, Sam is coming on leaps and bounds - still no walking (not sure that is ever going to happen!!) but he has suddenly got at least 6 words (seemingly overnight) and is babbling away far more than Josh ever did. Maybe it is true that they either walk or talk???

HumphreysCorner · 26/01/2010 11:01

Finally, some photos here. Sophie is the one carrying the teddy bear as she refused to wear the divers outfit and wearing a Fifi hat and scarf in the other dancing photo. Em is in the middle dressed as Princess Jasmine. She is also the smallest.

Have been struck down with a cold and sore throat so sat watching our new TV [excited emoticon]. It is 42 inches so can actually see it now, my eyes seem to be getting worse.

Hope all OK.

Lovely photos HC!!Fab! Matthew is all growing up already!

ladytophamhat · 26/01/2010 15:30

HC we are again having the debate about 3 - DH said he doesn't want another one unless I do. Of coruse I do, then I pull myself together and come to my senses

yes spin - they have this long list of allergies and they all have asthma, insect bites, bee stings and there's jacob's name with "no sugar, no powdered juice" next to his name - makes us look so PFB like

Annie - you can come for a month as long as it's June 11 to July 11 - were those the dates you were thinking of

can't wait for next monday when we finally move - will try and sort some pics out the house is simply gorgeous. We have our first social invitation sent out - we know through my old boss the head of AIG africa (which is a pretty big deal out here!) and josh has very kindly invited this guy and his wife to dinner in mid feb - great, so I'll be full on hostess entertaining cooking then - still the new dress I bought today should help .

CB you'll appreciate the meaning of this - jacob's new best friend at school (!) is a boy called josh (which of course is DH's name as well) and his birthday is 14th july - same year as jacob!

Jacob was doing standing up pees for a while but has gone back to sitting down, especially as we don't have his step here yet so he can't reach the loo! he to odoes standing up ones at school though (I've been forbidden to call it nursery any more)

hey everyone else! Bloss how are t's eyes going?

stinkypinky · 27/01/2010 12:34

(knocks timidly on threas door)

Hi, my DD was born June 06 - not sure if post-natal clubs are 'closed groups', or indeed if there is a June 06 thread.

Would love to join you if possible...

I brought cake

(sits patiently in corner trying to resist eating afore mentioned cake)

stinkypinky · 27/01/2010 12:35

'thread' even

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/01/2010 13:04

Hey Stinky Pinky - all very welcome, certainly not a closed thread! I have DS1, 5 and DS2 3, who was due in July but naughtily waited until 8th August to pop out, at which point I put him immediately on the naughty step. No seriously.

LTH - would love to see pix of the house. I think you are amazing just upping sticks like you have - I'd probably have a nervous breakdown at the very thought of it! T's eyes are good, he just had a check up on Monday. He will prob always have a lazy eye, but it is fine when he wears his glasses, so now I am rather weirdly hoping he always has to wear glasses so his squint never occurs, is that the daftest logic ever?

T stands to pee, just like Hawwy and Daddy.

Anyone elses child really struggle with some letters? T still cannot say his Rs, Ks, or Vs. At all. So of course, his best friends at nursery are Dyyan (Dylan) Eyyen (Ellen), Baiyyey (Bailey) and Oyyie (Ollie).

HC - gorge gorge photos. Such lovely ones of them all together. 3 kids. Wow.

DH TOTALLY lost it with our two this morning. He just has had ENOUGH of the arguing, teasing, fighting, arguing etc etc, which is constant with our two. Toby will pick something up and Harry will take it, cue screaming, Toby will say something, Harry will say "no you're not/can't/haven't" cue screaming. I have no idea what to do with it, I think alot of it is just normal 5 and 3 year old communication, irritating though it is, but it drives DH MAAAAAAD!!

"THAT'S IT I'M NOT GOING TO BE A NICE DADDY IF YOU TWO ARGUE AND FIGHT ALL THE TIME, SIT DOWN, STAND UP SAY THANKYOU, GO AWAY, STOP FIGHTING RAH RAH RAR = GOD IT'S NO WONDER SOME FATHERS JUST UP AND LEAVE THEIR FAMILIES RAH RAH RAH IT'S LIKE BLOODY GROUND HOG DAY IN THIS HOUSE RAH RAH RAH"

stinkypinky · 27/01/2010 13:19

Thank you for the welcome Goddess.

I am fairly new to MN - found it when off sick in summer. Joined TTC thread and graduated - due DC2 in April. Reading your comments about arguments is making me a little nervous now....

DD is really excited at the prospect of being a big sister. She loves babies - hope she still does when this one comes to stay!

I live in scotland, although I am english. and work full time as a nurse.

I have not read anything of this thread so will go and do my homework so hopefully I will have a bit of an idea of who is who.

Sorry, but I ate all the cake (baby needed it, honest!)

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 27/01/2010 14:17

Hi Stinkypinky, welcome along, this is definitely the best post-natal thread there is!! Congrats on your pg, and I'm sure your DD will be a great big sister. I have two, DS is 4 (5 in April) and Mimi is a July 06 baby.

Bloss, Joey has always pee-ed standing up too, like Daddy. Your DH sounds a bit like me when I get home from work hungry...
Mimi is ok with her letters I think, L is a difficult one as well, even Joey would still say 'Oyyie' or 'Yoya' (that's Lola!). R's are also hard, specially when my Irish Rrr's are different to their English 'Ah's'!!

LTH, best of luck with the move!! I can just imagine you as hostess in your cocktail dress serving yummy food!! There's no need to do up our room just yet if you're busy

DH is still lounging around on his crutches. He claims he does sit-ups and crunches when there's nobody about so I suppose at least he's moving a bit. He seems to have lost 4 lbs since he broke it! How does that work?!The ILs left on Monday, so I'm having a booze free week (well, Monday to Thursday!)

Work is about to get busy-er so that'll be a shock to my system...

Hellooo to everyone else x x

HumphreysCorner · 27/01/2010 16:16

Hello stinky, you are most welcome here. I have 3 children DD1-Emma (July 03) DD2-Sophie (June 06) and DS-Matthew (Oct 09). Congratulations and not too long to wait for your baby to be born. I am still stuffing cake, need it for BFing Matthew honestly guv.

Oh eck Bloss-is your DH on a short fuse again? Just normal sibling behaviour but probably boys are noisier?

Am still full of cold here, feel lousy so doing not alot infront of our new TV.

Hope all OK.

Hello Annie and HC. Pleasure to meet you.

I have just got up to the bit in the thread when HC is 40 weeks. Gripping stuff. I am guessing Matt arrived safely then

(I only started catching up on this thread - not back in July 06)

I am debating whether to phone in sick tomorrow - I have a chest infection, on No.3 course of antibiotics, and still feel like Poo.

My daughters name is Asha.

Ceebee74 · 27/01/2010 20:10

Stinkypinky - welcome to this thread We really are a very friendly bunch and if you bring cake with you, you will always be welcome

I have 2 boys - Josh is my July 06 'baby' and my real baby is Sam who was born in Nov 08. I am sure Asha (beautiful name btw) will be a lovely big sister - she is just the right age to be helpful and actually enjoy helping. Do you know whether you are having a boy or a girl this time round?

LTH - your house sounds just lovely...and in the sunshine too Have I mentioned how I am yet???

Sounds like Josh was a bit behind in the standing up to wee then Not sure about his pronounciation/letters but he can still be difficult to understand at times!!

Well Josh was supposed to go on his first 'school' trip today. The nursery were going to take a handful of the pre-schoolers to a local soft play area this morning for a play and then lunch as a treat. Josh was really excited yesterday and this morning - and then at 10am, I got a phone call from nursery saying he hadn't gone as he just point blank refused What is all that about then?? When I asked him tonight, he just said he didn't want to even though his very best friends were going too!!

Annie - I suspect your DH isn't eating as much hence the weight loss??

HumphreysCorner · 27/01/2010 21:15

Ceebee-Sophie only does what Sophie wants to do hence her refusal to wear the divers outfit in the dancing concert. Also refused to be in the group photo for the newspaper. Emma had to go and see her and missed her group photo. Shame Josh didn't go though.

Lol stinkypinky-M was born at 40+2 so you are nearly there. Sorry to hear you are poorly, not good when 6 months PG.

Sophie still doesn't know letters, at this rate she will start school without knowing them or even writing her name.

Am slightly concerned... all this talk of school...

I am in Scotland, so different up here it seems. DD will be over 5 when she starts school, I have been told. Sept 2011. Am feeling slightly jealous due to childcare costs. Anyone else in Scotland who can advise me please?

Am worse this week - new meds giving horrid side effects, but can now breathe...

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2010 09:33

stinkypinky, agalch is in Scotland and it is true they start a year later. Hope things improve for you soon.

Still not too well with my cold, sore throat and migraine. Matthew has a cold too so very wittery and clingy. He has his 12 week jabs later even though he is nearly 17 weeks.

Big wave!

stinkypinky · 02/02/2010 10:04

Thank you HC. Hope you are better soon too, and little Matthew. I am in the over 40's club too, by the way.

Are our 3 year olds meant to know letters already? Asha can almost write her name (when she feels like it), and can recognise M and D, but that is about it.

Do all kids in UK learn with phonics?

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2010 10:26

Phew, so I'm not the only 40 plus girl. How young are you BTW? I was 40 last October. The others think I'm mad but still debating baby No4 but it will be when I'm 41/42.

I think Sophie is behind all the other 3 yr olds on here as she doesn't know any letters and despite my desperate attempts to get her to write her name it just isn't happening.

Where is everyone else????

HC

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 02/02/2010 11:52

Hc, hope you are feeling better, you too Stinky.
Busy at work, what's that about?

stinkypinky · 02/02/2010 12:51

I will be 41 on April 22nd. Baby due the day after. If this pregnancy hadn't been so awful, I would have liked to pop out another one, but doubt if the old bod could cope.

I think this is a boy... had a fab preg with DD, and was 37, so still pretty advanced in age.

Loving the name Annie

TheGoddessBlossom · 02/02/2010 14:34

Hi all. Hope all those who are crook are on the mend. Annie, hope work remember who you are and stop making you do stuff...

HC yes you are bonkers contemplating number 4. Does Dh want 2 of each?

Work is busy and annoying. Honestly if it weren't for the money.... I can tell you lot thank god, as am not going to tell a soul until absolutely necessary, but am planning a party for DH's 40th and our 10th wedding anniversary. It's not till November, but am being very organised. Looking at a venue next week, sit down meal, will provide some wine per person, about 50 people. Very excited. Just 10 months to go then.

All good at home. Took boys to market on Sunday (no not to sell them) and DH had promised them they could buy a toy of their choosing. So we came home with a space laser (ok) for Toby and an exact replica of an AK47 combat rifle for H (not ok). I was dead against it but Dh said what's the harm!! If H wants to be a soldier when he is older I am holding DH entirely responsible.

It's my birthday on Sunday, and I am 35. I think my middle age spread has begun, as I am 9 6, the heaviest I have been since after I had T. So I am not drinking at the moment, and have had nothing but a packet of raisins so far today. Which of course will mean I am going to be famished when I get in tonight and will eat contents of fridge...

Right, best look useful, tea anyone?

Bloss
