Hi tout le monde

Lovely here too today. Felix had his second lot of jabs at 9.15am. He did some screaming and then went to sleep. I've just fed him and he threw up everywhere. Eugh, poor thing.

Running I'm with you - I love seeing other parts of the world but actually I'm quite happy to live here. Hopefully we'll be achieving what Belgian has by moving from Yorkshire to the Lakes, although admittedly where we are now is fairly rural.

saus, great news about your DH - he must feel bad about it which is the main thing.

Right, better go and do something productive. HV clinic this afternoon as haven't had F weighed in weeks and weeks and am a bit curious.

sausagenmash · 09/09/2009 11:44

Momino - we still have green tomatoes too.

Ooooooh..... Dad's best friend from Hong Kong is coming over for my wedding, and he's in the same line as work as dp.... dp wants to ask him if there's anything possibly out there for him..... OMG OMG OMG OMG (Dandy where are you? HK! HK! HK! HK!)

Breeeeathe

sophietom · 09/09/2009 11:45

Tummum glad you are happier today

Running great that you have an app so fast- I bet gp will say the weight is fine though

I keep doing internet shopping whilst bfing, bad news as I keep buying rather than just browsing .

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 11:49

ooooooooooooh saus!!!!!!!!!!!!! sophietom love your FB status!

DH can't come out for at least another week, prob next weekend as still waiting for all the dog's pet passport stuff to be finalised. Then the longest he could stay would be maybe 10 days.

So now the kids are playing up and being little horrors.

Grr

oh and re; green tomatoes, if they aren't totally green try picking some and they will ripen up indoors once picked (not sure whether this works if they are very green but you could give it a try, maybe put them in bowl by the window?)

runningmonkey · 09/09/2009 11:59

OMG just seen a May 2010 thread

Green toms - should ripen on windowsill - my mum puts
them in an empty egg box to keep them apart from each other. THey can also be made into nice chutney/pickle think I have a recipe somewhere.

grump thats a shame about DH. Have you got skype set up? Maybe DDs would like it as they get to see Dad?

saus exciting!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 12:28

I know you can ripen avacados in a brown paper bag with a banana. Don't know if the same can be done for tomatoes?

running May 2010 never . I'll have to look into Skype.

Ok off to the bank now....

OP posts:
Momino · 09/09/2009 12:41

grumpy, I use skype loads with my family in the US. it's great for webcam calls and it's free!

tomatoes, I've picked a few to put in the sun and have also wondered about the brown paper bag trick . sophietom, some of very green and others are pale but I'll try to see what happens in the sun on the windowsill. runningmonkey, would be interested in a salsa recipe. I'm sure my DH did one a couple of years ago. will ask him as well.

sausage, that is very exciting! I hope your DH gets some good contacts/leads/etc.

reebee, poor F! hope he's better now.

ok, must get into town for some errands whilst it's still sunny.

sausagenmash · 09/09/2009 12:42

running - green tomato chutney recipe? Yes please! Will also try the egg box trick.

I got a packet of baby cereal in the post today from cow and gate

May 2010? Eek. Our LO's will be one! How terrifying!

grumpy - never heard of the avocadobanana thing - must try that! (avonana?)

M sounds like a train today -ha-her-ha-her-ha-her-ha-her - then a raspberry. Hm.

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 13:07

may2010 time is flying by so quickly! I am so glad I joined our may thread.. in fact I don't think my days would be the same without you all so if/when we eventually get to NS i'll be FiByTheSeaenjoyingspaceandmaplesyrup and on in the afternoon and evenings.. i do like it where we are but I feel NS has better long term prospects for us as a family..

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 13:19

btw grumpyjustlovewhatyou'redoingwithmyname & i can almost hear you singing your posts atm. Your move has obviously been a great decision.. do you still feel a grumpyoldcaaaaaa? I think you should be smileyoldcaaaaaa

sophietom · 09/09/2009 13:40

oooops lovely and sunny so put towels down by the window and giving Jake nappy-off time 'whoa the nakey jakey, whoa the nakey jakey, whoa the nakey jakey, clothes off, nappy off, ra ra ra!' and had laptop on the floor next to us as was half following the ed balls thingy... well you can guess what happened can't you?- elegant arc of urine that sailed through the air onto the laptop keyboard. Have mopped it up with kitchen roll and it seems not to have done any damage
Hopefully no probs will develop- would be an interesting insurance claim

runningmonkey · 09/09/2009 13:57

Can't find my recipe folder but this one looks similar... recipe

Oh yeah the banana ripening trick works - apparently they emit a chemical as they ripen which stimulates ripening in other things too. Its why you should keep them separate from the rest of your fruit bowl as they can make other things ripen a little too quickly

soph lol at the song. Hope your computer is ok

Febes · 09/09/2009 14:12

Your tomatoes should still rippen so give them another week or so on the vine as once they start they go red pretty quick. We have so many, I've made one lot of relish and lots of tomato based meals and sandwiches etc but still havea small red mountain in the kitchen and a load of nearly readies on the vines outside. I have made green chutney before it was yummy. Anyone else got some yummy tomato recipes for me to try? I like to try new ones.
Today I made honey and oat biscuits and apple shortcake and looked after 3 under2s.
DH will be home for a bit tomorrow as he has a shorter day then normal. I'm very excited as his last day off was the bank holiday and the one before that was 4 weeks ago . Our holiday is only 9 days away though so then I have him to myself for a whole week mwah ha ha...

sausagenmash · 09/09/2009 14:23

We have another song.... pooandawee, weeandapoo, pooandawee.... (sung to the tune of the wombles)

Tummum · 09/09/2009 15:08

Sophietom LOL at the inevitable happening !

Grumps I do love your posts... they make me larf

Sausage at potential HK news

Well, have returned to feeling and a bit rudderless today. Childcare situation is getting worse and driving me up the wall. DH hasn't been paid for last month yet (he works for a start up company and they are waiting for cash from investors) and is away after being at home for a week, missing him. I suppose I can now watch America's next top model tonight without complaints now though

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 15:28

grrr just lost my catch up post and it took ages as i'm on my phone.

tummum i'm trying to think of the perks of my dh being away on a residential course in october for a week.. atm i'm not looking forward to it..

llareggub · 09/09/2009 15:33

Afternoon!

Quick one from me and I'll have a full catch up later. Stressful times here; DS is having monster tantrums and driving me INSANE.

Poor DS2 had his 3rd lot of jabs today, poor thing and is now quite grumpy. DS1 is just stirring from his nap so going off now to see what sort of mood he is in this afternoon...

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 16:19

right back to my catch up..

febes you're super woman.. baking and 3 under 2's i was worn out with just 2x 3yr olds and G.

sophie we had to claim for a wee soaked sofa.. was totally ruined and the cost to replace the futon mattress was the same as a whole new futon.. i'm sure you wouldn't be the first with a laptop if it does go wonky!

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 16:27

llareggub your afternoon any better?

singing I sing a load of absolute drivel! G loves it but ds says 'oh muuuuuhmm' ala old percil advert ' not agaaainn'

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 16:41

sausage HK! ooo.. do you fancy going?

we only got round to growing peas this year. our tomatoes refused to go red last year so we had to pick them and bring them inside.. mostly all went red :-) have used the banana trick too.. sometimes too well!

Belgianchocolates · 09/09/2009 16:58

HK... HONG KONG. Goh, only took me a day to catch on why everyone keeps writing HK. sausage That would be soo exciting if that became reality.

febes You make me feel bad. Baking and 3 under 2's.

tummum I hope you start feeling a bit better soon. Hopefully you'll find your rudder back soon

I've done nothing today. I had lots of good plans and then C fell asleep on me around 9.30 and I haven't moved from the sofa/computer since. Oh well, maybe tomorrow? Actually, I did sort some of our pictures. Nearly all of them were still unnamed + I've created my 1st photobook. I'm planning to do a book a year like my parents do as I never get round to ordering my pictures online and I think it's a great idea to just get the highlights of a year in a book. I've just done the best of 2002, only 7 more years to go

Oh and talking about pictures. I've uploaded a couple of pics to the secret society page on f/b. I didn't really want to advertise to my colleagues that we've got a new house it kent. So it's for the eyes of you ladies only

ReeBee · 09/09/2009 17:10

febes wow, how do you do it? I'm shattered just with Felix!

Tummum, it is rubbish when they're not around but some good things besides watching whatever TV you like are not having to worry about pleasing someone else - eating what you like and when you like, putting the light on (!! ) for any night feeds, one less person to clear up after, a whole big bed to stretch out in....

F at 14 weeks is 15lbs - between 50th and 75th centile, 66cm (98th centile, ) and has been referred to the GP re his head circumference . You might remember a few weeks ago I was worried about his fontanelle; well, his head circumference started on the 25th centile and is now on the 91st so we've been referred. The HV and I are fairly confident that it's because the first 2 measurements done (both giving 25th centile) were inaccurate but the change coupled with his small fontanelle is enough for her to want us to see the GP and discuss whether an onwards referral might be necessary. I'm sure it's fine though.

He's been brilliant following his jabs after a huge sick incident this morning. Bless him.

Off up to Cumbria again on Friday to look at houses - exciting!

better go as can hear him grumbling, sorry for me me me post.

essenceofSES · 09/09/2009 17:17

Hi all!

Been a bit busy the last couple of days so sorry for not catching up. Had a quick skim and it seems that Febes is superwoman and everyone's singing silly songs
sausage - I like your pooandawee one to the Wombles tune.... I may give that a go....

O is not settling this afternoon. Only happy when he's feeding but he's not feeding in a way that suggests he's overly hungry IYKWIM. He did have a bit of wind earlier but I thought that had cleared. I wonder whether his gums are sore as he's been dribbling for weeks and today his usually clear bottom is a little red & shiny in places.
I'm meant to be cooking a roast chicken with the works tonight as we never got round to it on Sunday but haven't been able to get near the kitchen yet...

Momino · 09/09/2009 17:45

febes, in awe... and could i have the honey oat biscuit recipe please ?

reebee, great weight for F! strange about the head circ, it's something i don't hear much about. as you said, i'm sure all is well. good luck house hunting. what a beautiful area to move to.

belgian, it's about time you took a rest , you're always doing so much and with the move deserve a sit-down.

Fi, encouraged by your tomato story. i've got a few now on my windowsill in an egg carton, dreaming of turning red.

sophietom/sausage, your funny songs make me laugh. i do the 'i'm gonna eatchyouup' theme.

hope all of you are well.

off to pick up the older 2 at nursery. catch you later.
