sorry prattled on longer than I thought!

sausage I have that clock in DS's toy box... it still works a treat and ds has loved it. I don't think g has seen it yet... must fish it out tomorrow and see what she thinks

LoobyLou36 · 08/09/2009 21:35

libido - what's that?

Tummum · 08/09/2009 21:36

Fi I am shattered just reading what you have been up to this week! there is also a v. v. small chance that we might also be heading to Canada, but to Edmonton (nr. Calgary) with DH's work. That would be weird if we both ended up there !

Febes have you got RSI from windy toys

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 21:41

ditto libido!!

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 21:44

tummum a lovely MN lady directed me to britishexpats.com for info, advice & chats with fellow canada bound folks. There's loads of info there if and when you might need it

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 08/09/2009 21:51

Night all, day off tomorrow (no school on Wed at Primary level, mornings only College level) so will be busy with my angelic cherubs, plus the local market is on. I have my wicker shopping bag ready (purchased from French market, natch), I hope the soap man is there.......Oh and I'm at the bank to get a French bank account.

Woohoo

lib...what?

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 22:02

just had a text from the friend i had coffee with today. she's worried that she's developing GD as she's weeing a lot and is really hot hot hot. I said I doubted it was GD, she's only 15wks and our hothothot thread was in march. Can anyone remember if we'd been hothot for ages before that?

Belgianchocolates · 08/09/2009 22:40

fi She's not got a UTI, has she. Weeing a lot could still be pregnancy, though should settle a little by 15w and hothot might mean she's got a bit of a temp? Worth checking.

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 22:50

hmm I wondered about that... i texted her back saying to give her mw a call in the am and go from there. She doesn't think she has a uti... with the water she's drinking it might not be noticeable...

Jennster · 08/09/2009 22:52

Grumpy Don't they go in to school on a Saturday morning or is that just college and Lycee too? Does anybody know how to get the accents on a british keyboard?

flippineck · 08/09/2009 22:53

Evening all!

Sorry, you've all been talking too much for me to name check you all, and I'm tired.

Grrr to all DHs/DPs that have deserved it, sounds like there's a few. My DH hasn't made me cross, he's just not here! Maybe that's easier. He's back Sunday.

Challenging day today, A has been fine but DD1 has been in a foul mood most of the day. Whiney, deliberately and defiantly doing the opposite to what I ask, throwing enormous embarrassing screaming wailing tantrums in public, and shouting at A because she (A) pulled DD1's hair. I told her not to sit so close. Very very glad when bedtime arrived, my patience was wearing incredibly thin.

DD1 and did manage to make bara brith this afternoon without falling out. I haven't amde it for a long time so thought I ought to check it was ok this evening - had three slices with butter after the girls had gone to bed . It's quality control, right?!

That clock is really cute, I don't remember one like that.

Off to bed soon. I'll try to catch up properly tomorrow.

Momino · 08/09/2009 22:53

blotted, my dd1 would be so chuffed with pink hair... how did you do it?

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 22:56

must...turn...off...laptop...and...dream...feed...g...
hopefully i won't wake her and I can slope off to bed as really tired today...

Belgianchocolates · 08/09/2009 23:04

What fi said, but the PC. Goodnight!

Momino · 08/09/2009 23:07

Fi, sounds like such a palaver all the paperwork. we had to do similar for DH's US visa, took us about 3 years to do it as we kept at it sllloowwwly. now that he's got it, we've not moved because having children has made us feel more settled here. anyway, would prefer to move to Canada.

just catching up slowly here. Belgian, your post just reminded me: remember when we were pregnant any you kindly answered all our questions that we had for our own midwivese?

ohh, here i go. I'm in bed trying to catch up with you all and my eyes are closing so really need to sleep.

Tummum · 09/09/2009 07:48

Morning all. Thanks for all your support last night. I think that the wallowing did me good, because today is a new day and I've bounced back !

Hope you all have a nice day. It's raining here, but I am because it gives me an excuse to wear my new boden rain hat to school !! I think I need to get out more !!

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 08:23

morning all

glad to hear you're feeling brighter this am tummum the boden hat sounds lovely

momino you're right the paperwork will be the worst bit. One of the people on expats.com just sent theirs off and it weighed 2.5 kilos!!!

Blottedcopybook · 09/09/2009 09:53

Belgian She loves it! She's a wee poser

Momino I dyed my hair pink last year and had a bottle of dye left over so I just popped it on her. I only needed a couple of 10p sized blobs to do her hair and I'm not too worried if it doesn't come out because she still has that superfine baby hair so getting it cut off won't be a disaster.

Fi I'm so jealous of your NS plans. I'd love love love to go abroad but it's just never going to happen for us, we have crap jobs and too much debt. I bloody hate living here too

How are we all today?

runningmonkey · 09/09/2009 10:14

Morning all,
Just grabbing a few mins to myself while A asleep in the pram, not on me

Thank you for everyone's kind words yesterday, I too feel a lot better after a bit of sleep and DH got A up with him while he got ready for work so I had the bed to myself for an hour... absolute bliss. He has also taken tomorrow off so he can come to the GP appointment with me which I feel good about.

Thanks for all the suggestions about not weighing. I'd much rather do this as I would be a lot less stressed but feel as if I don't really have much choice as the HV team want to monitor her? Again, another thing to talk to GP about I think.

tum glad you're feeling better this am. I echo what someone else (Fi?) said about waiting a while until it looks liek the economic sit improves?

Am I the only one who likes living here? I can see the bad things but have no inclination to move... apart from back to Wales of course

Have been chuckling at your washing hanging up stories. I too am anal about this... especially hanging stuff on the clothes horse - socks and pants on the bottom, then tshirts and trousers on the top I also get annoyed if DH pegs trousers on the line by the waistband and not by the legs!

Uh oh, can here rumblings from A's bottom and can see a little leg waving in the air... best go see what's occuring. Back later.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 10:37

Fibytheseaohwedoliketobebesidetheseasiiiiiiiiide I hope your friend is ok, I would agree with poss UTI but in answer to your question "Can anyone remember if we'd been hothot for ages before that?", I've always been hothothot baybeeeeeeeee!! Sexy laydeeee and all that.

Morning all,

fi good luck with the paperwork. Dounds like hard work: 2.5kg!

tum glad that you're feelig more positive this am. You made me with the Boden hat story. I would be the same if I had a new rain hat.

running glad you're feeling better too. It might be a good idea to talk to the GP.

better life DH and I might not have moved abroad, but so far it almost feels like it and it definitely feels like we're giving our dcs a better childhood here in the countryside rather than big city.

Ridiculously proud mummy alert! C has finally worked out how her hands work today and has been successfully picking up toys and putting them in her mouth. I was so excited when she did it that my dh thought he was married to a madwoman

sausagenmash · 09/09/2009 10:39

Running - glad you are better today.

Hello bouncytummum - oooh a boden hat! I must look that one up!

Dp v apologetic when he got in tonight. Am meeting a friend tonight to see The Time Travellers Wife - he is coming home extra early to bath and feed M, and is giving me dosh to get a cab there AND back, and also for nosh and some vino. Not that I need his money, I'm still getting decent mat leave money at the mo, but hahahaaa, who am I to say no to a free meal?!

Libido? What? Is that Greek?

Febes - you made me giggle re: your grown up smirks with your Mum. My Mum and I do that too, and I too feel all mumsy and grown up!

Fibythesea and others - glad I've brought back some reminders re the clock. It actually goes on for ages and doesn't need a wind up for a while. Well, except the one I have at the mo which is nearly kaput.

Booooo M is crying. Thought she wanted a sleep. Poo.

Am having a day off trying to study today and will watch Wuthering Heights and 2 episodes of Four Weddings on our sky planner. Of course, WH is educational, so M can watch it too.

Belgianchocolates · 09/09/2009 10:41

grumpy The belgians use the french key board, which is a pain when I visit my parents.

Momino · 09/09/2009 10:41

morning!
blotted, you sound like us. i'd always wanted to mve to italy after spending a year in Rome post studying. but, we're not going anywhere - i've got a rubbish job, dh is in a rut, we're always in debt. etc. even going to the US won't happen (at least soon) as both of us have seemed to lost confidence in taking risks, changing. sigh.

i don't mind living here too much. I do miss having space like we did in the US. also seems like salaries are so much lower here too. and don't get me started about the weather! but i love york and would find it difficult to move.

speaking of weather, it's beautiful today. anyone with a green thumb? our tomatoes are still green, they get some sun but obv not enough. what can i do?

glad you're feeling better rmonkey. A will be just fine with her weight. it will help to chat to gp. glad you're better as well tummum.
