forgot to say.. awww & yay for C knowing what her hands are for! grace is just constantly sticking almost her whole fist in her mouth.. even after feeds!! no dribble so i think she just likes chewing them

Febes · 09/09/2009 19:11

Momino cream together 1/2cup sugar, 125g butter and 2 TS honey, sift in 1c flour, 1ts baking powder and 1/2ts cinnaman and mix in 1 &1/2 c oats mix and roll into balls press with forks and bake for 15 mins at 180C. Yum and dead easy.

We are on an economy run so I have started baking and its loads cheap and yummy and DCs and DH appreciate it. I also bought a gammon joint this week and cooked it loads cheaper than ham for sammies. I find cooking relaxing and it means I can watch the toddlers while not hovering over them.

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 19:27

ooo febes you're making me drool! I love a freshly made ham.. not very economical for me though as I love it a little too much and keep going back for just a little bit more

SpangleMaker · 09/09/2009 19:37

Febes also in awe!

Belgian what do you plan to do about work? Will you be able to get a post in a local hospital?

Sausage HK sounds exciting. There will have to be a May 09 Emigrants sub-group soon! We are happy here - I love the area we live in - though I would love more space. Our house is very lovely but also very small, which is the main reason (along with my age) we're unlikely to have any more DCs.

Went to a weaning talk by the HVs today. Very good - all about baby led weaning & showed a DVD by Gill Rapeley (who wrote the BLW book). It went on for 2 hours though so by the end H was very tired and grumpy. Then we had to race straight off to Macclesfield to have my hair done while DH looked after H Sneaked a peek in the shops and somehow purchased 2 skirts in Fat Face. Am now happy but poor

Belgianchocolates · 09/09/2009 19:54

Spangle You might have missed it as it was in April and you were a little busy back then , but I already have a job here waiting for me. I went for my interview at 35 weeks and got the job. They're happy to wait for me to come off mat leave. I think it's fitting in nicely with their plans of expansion. That Gill Rapeley video sounded good, albeit a little long.

reebee The things you listed are exactly what I'll miss about DH being home from now on. I could watch CSI with no comments, eat as much pasta as I like and have the heating on/leave the hot water on all day without nagging.

Bedtime for the 2 eldest now. C's already been asleep since 7. Got to go, because it doesn't sound like they're really brushing their teeth.

Tummum · 09/09/2009 20:20

my 'D'H has just accused me of not achieving much during my ML. WTF? Just surviving looking after DS1, recovering from AND, getting my head sorted about future career plans and looking after the house whilst he works away all day seems to be plenty to me. Men. What a cock. I have half a mind to leave all 3 DC with him for a week and see how he survives. Sorry, rant over. I could really do with his support rather than comments about not doing enough. FFS.

Belgianchocolates · 09/09/2009 20:23

tummum at your DH's comments. Especially when you're feeling upset about your plans for the future. Last thing you need. Go on strike for a day so he can see what a tip the house would be without you

SpangleMaker · 09/09/2009 20:28

Belgian durr, I remember now, silly me! Baby brain!!

Tummum at your DH. You should leave him with the DCs! I don't think they realise how difficult it is to do anything whilst looking after DCs. I have achieved bugger all during ML, and I only have 1 baby to look after.

Tummum · 09/09/2009 20:37

I am so angry I am actually feeling quite calm about it. I refuse to speak to him until I get an apology, and am already planning my weekend away, including 2 nights, so he can see what it's all about. Prat. Looking fwd to the weekend away, although I will really miss the DC !

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 21:15

tummum what a .. you'll get the last laugh though when he has to cope with all 3!

LoobyLou36 · 09/09/2009 21:39

at your DH tummum febes supercook how do you do it?

blotted I want pink hair too! love that swirly dress

we've not been up to much today, BF group this morning then visiting a friend in hospital this afternoon

M is back to her more normal guzzly self thank goodness

I have sewn half the seat covers for the camper - hoping to get them finished for the trip to the VW VanFest on Sat.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 21:50

To the tune of 'Conga conga conga' - 'Sophia is a poo-bum! Sophia is a poo-bum! Sophia is a poo-bum '. I don't think I could top Sophietom's Jakey Hokey Cokey one though, that made me laugh very loudly.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 21:55

Tummum I didn't see your post, sorry.

LEAVE HIM WITH THE KIDS (which I know you're planning on doing anyway). I hate that sort of comment. Have a great weekend away without him though .

S has fed non-stop all evening. Just got her to sleep. She just went from one boob to the other over and over. Anyone have any suggestions/explanations?

On a brighter note, she's perfected raspberry blowing and making brrrrrrrrrrr noises with her lips. Irresistible!

flippineck · 09/09/2009 21:57

tummum - at your (not so?)DH! He'll be in for a bit of a surprise then...

LOL at some the the songs!

Grumpy - this is my mum's recipe for bara brith: soak 500g dried fruit (whatever you fancy really) in 300ml strong hot tea overnight. 250g SR flour, 125g dark brown soft/muscovado sugar (although actually any sugar works, it just changes the taste/colour of the cake slightly), 1 (generous) tsp mixed spice and 1 beaten egg. Mix everything together really well, put in a properly lined 2lb loaf tin and bake for about 90 minutes gas mark 2, until ckae is well risen, firm and brown. In theory, it keeps for quite a while if you wrap it in greaseproof and keep it in a tin. Some people make bara brith as a yeasted cake, but no one I know does.

We had a better day today, DD1 was much less grumpy so I was less grumpy too, iyswim. Dead pleased with myself - managed to bath the two of them tonight, and they were both asleep by 8pm! I've never bathed them together on my own, and it's very rare they're both settled so quickly.

A has had dreadful wind today, really stinky. She's due a poo really, i keep thinking it's going to happen but nothing yet. It really isn't going to be pretty!

Late to the weight thing, but just thought I'd add a bit - when A was born she was on the 75th centile, but has since dropped to just above the 25th. She's never lost weight (apart from 1.5oz after birth) but has just gained more slowly than the charts would like. Anyway, nobody has ever commented on it, even though it seems slightly drastic. I'm not hugely concerned tbh, as DD1 was about that size too.

febes - we on a bit of an economy thing too, I've been making my own bread quite a bit. Yum!!!!

tummum again - did you ever get your childcare vouchers sorted out? Mine are still causing problems, grrrr. Only just had the vouchers that I should have had at the end of August, fortunately my childminder is very understanding. We thought everything had been sorted at the end of July but the person I was dealing with left the department and apears to have not passed anything on to her replacement . They have admitted that I am the first person in this situation so it's all new. I don't want to be a f*$%ing guinea pig, i just want the money I'm owed.

One good things about DH not being here - I've been able to my shopping online! He refuse to let me do as he doesn't liek paying the delivery charge so he always goes after work. I can't drive, so ordered it all, it'll turn up on Friday morning!

OK, last bit for now I promise. Hair loss - everyone else suffering? Mine is shocking, I had to unblock the shower earlier this week - the furball was the size of a rat . This happened after DD1 too, and I ended up with a bald patch. Really hope it doesn't happen again.

Momino · 09/09/2009 22:05

tummum, am speechless at your DH's words/behaviour. he doesn't have a clue does he? I'm glad you're going away for a break.

looby, glad M is ok.

febes, defn going to make those biscuits, thanks!

llareggub · 09/09/2009 22:09

Blimey Tummum! You're DH is really pushing is luck isn't he? Who ever expects to achieve anything on maternity leave apart from someone pregnant with their first child? When I was pregnant with DS1 I was going to learn Spanish. I got as far as hello, and that was it. Absolutely book yourself a weekend away.

flippineck my hair loss is scary. Like you I have huge fur balls in the shower and poor old DS2 always has handfuls in his little fists. Was worried until I remembered it is normal.

Belgian the house looks lovely, and the village too. Your DC looked very smart on their first day.

Emigrating so many of you thinking about going oversea! Well, we won't be joining you unfortunately. What a globetrotting lot and how exciting.

Febes I might try that recipe tomorrow.

DS1's tantrums are getting horrendous. We had an awful night last night and tonight was better but still pretty bad. He was really clingy at pre-school today, which is so unlike him. After telling me to "go away" constantly last night he apparently was sad at pre-school because he wanted me. What to do?

DS2 is absolutely fine after his jabs. Poor old DS was terrified at the surgery. I think he thought I was lying to him about DS2 havin the jabs because he refused to go into the room. I think he thought it was for him! Bless him, he tried to comfort DS2.

We've got new sofas coming next week. I can't wait. Ours are old and battered and broken and we've had a very good deal with these. I just hope that stand up to the demands of two little boys!

llareggub · 09/09/2009 22:11

flippineck that's my grandmother's recipe for bara brith too. Hmm, something else to bake this weekend I think as my cousin is coming for lunch.

Jennster · 09/09/2009 22:12

bonsoir mes amis

My sh£t song - to the tune of It's A Long Way To Tipereree - 'My nappy, is really crappy, and I don't know why it makes me happy, I've got some, all up my front bum (dh's words not mine-it's vulva if you please), and it even goes to my tum diddly um tum tum tum tum tum - tum tiddly um tum tum tum tum tum.

And my mum used to sing to me 'Hands up, baby hands up, gimme your heart, gimme gimme' etc when she needed to take my top off. We sing it to the dc, and ds sings it back.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 22:15

Mmmmmm thanks flippin . May have to make some febes biscuits too.

And buy elasticated waist trousers, obviously

Je n'aime pas faucher des grenouilles sur la pelouse.

I have eaten them though. With garlic and butter.
