Think we'll need one each!

Tummum · 08/09/2009 19:56

Evening all. Sorry in advance for a mememememe post but had a cr*p day. Went oop-norf for a meeting with a chappie I really respect and wanted to go into business with. His opinion is that there is no money in my proposed business given current economic climate and margins. I want to say "sod him, I'll do it anyway" but I really trust him and his opinion, and his v. established and brill business is not doing so well, so I need to listen to his advice and save me some time, effort and cash.

So am feeling a bit glum that my brilliant idea to get me out of the shit hole v. exciting company that I work for, and solve all my childcare woes is now dead. I need to work on Plan B, but I am pretty exhausted after the past couple of weeks. I'll be OK in the morning, but tonight I am upset at it all. I think I need to allow myself to be upset tonight, and think about horizons new tomorrow. Sigh.

Blotted - I think E's pink hair is fab

Re: washing. Siigh. What an anal lot we are. Dp offers to hang washing out sometimes and I have to practically wrangle him from stepping into the garden, I just can't FACE the way he hangs out washing. Argh. Shirts by the shoulders! Towels out wonky! And SHEETS! (I even have to hang out socks in pairs.... just makes them easier to pair up when putting them away, doesn't it?) I now refuse to wash dp's socks if he's left them all scrunched and inside out. I make a point of leaving them in the middle of the bedroom floor. He's getting the hint.

How sad am I. Like I've got nothing better to do!

I need a life

sausagenmash · 08/09/2009 19:59

Tummum I find wine helps. And marmite toast A bit of wallowing tonight, and tomorrow you will feel tons better about it all.

Tummum · 08/09/2009 20:20

Oh, I am wallowing and using it as an excuse to drink wine . I also keep sniffing my shoulder 'cos it smells of curdled milk.... niiiiice ! Thanks saus

Tummum · 08/09/2009 20:20

I'm not pished, honest.

LoobyLou36 · 08/09/2009 20:21

name check amnesty have missed a couple of days - must catch up

M has been very unsettled with her feeding since sat and has what we assume has been diarhrea (sp) since she only poos once every 5 days normally and I had 5 pooey nappies in 2 days

I think she had a bad tummy which is why she didn't want milk - then DH and I caught the "bug" and we both spent all night last night throwing up M managed 2 good feeds at 1am and 4am tho which was better

So DH didn't go to work this morning and instead spent most of the day in bed whilst I had to get up and look after M I shouldn't moan but it would have been nice to get a couple of hours rest this afternoon

sorry me me me rant over

sausagenmash · 08/09/2009 20:27

I LOVE caller display on phones. I just ignored the in-laws. Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa.

Naughty me.

Jingle Bells indeed. Bloody woman.

Looby - poor you. Glad that M is getting better though. My M does one poo a day, but by God, is it a poo! And stinky at that!

Tummum - pour us one. We've got no vino in the gaff! Il est tres mal.

LoobyLou36 · 08/09/2009 20:41

blotted love the pink hair

saus lol at jingle bells

I've managed a bowl of shreddies and they haven't come back up - YAY!

Belgianchocolates · 08/09/2009 20:43

Tummum So sorry to hear your brill idea isn't working out. Do you think it's possible to wait until the recession is over and do it then? You know delay the launch. In the mean time have a good wallow, plenty of wine, naughty food and a big non-MNy hug

Hi blotted Saw the pink hair picture. Does E like her new look?

saus Your method of hanging laundry sounds very much like mine. Pants 2nd last, followed by sock in pairs facing the same way and by size of course

I've been eyeing up those long sleeved bibs, but I like jenn's suggestion is much better . It's only now that I realise how lucky I was to be weaning over the summer last 2 times. Come to think of it: my ds was already being weaned now at 16 weeks That was in the days before the recommendation changed though. C's equally big as he was and perfectly happy with her booby milk

I've done the most stupidest thing today. I went to the shops and bought some microwave pop corn. Only we haven't got a microwave What was I thinking?

Tummum · 08/09/2009 20:43

saus No wine Pouring you one now. PS shouldn't you be studying

Loobs you have all been poorly, but glad you are starting to feel better.

Belgianchocolates · 08/09/2009 20:44

Oh, hi Looby. Hope you're all better.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 08/09/2009 20:48

Jingle Bells
We all smell
o-of curdled milk.

Evening all.

Glad M is better loobs.

So, curdled milk, the word 'anal' and poo on one page

Unsurprisingly, I'm a completely anal fartypants about pegging out.

Jennster · 08/09/2009 20:51

Oh sod it, I'm going to pour myself a glass now. I'm on holiday. Nearly.

Looby Hope you all feel better soon. at your dh.

Tummum I have no useful words of wisdom. I really hope you think of something else.

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 20:54

evening everyone... going to try a mini catch up from the last multiple pages i've just read... name check amnesty as I don't know how many replies i'll remember so apologies for not commenting on you all.

tummum oh that's really disappointing for you have a glass of wine for me too and a chaser of copious chocolate munching.

looby sorry to hear you're poorly but glad to hear M is doing better and at least you kinda know what the matter was now?

running big hugs to you too. Don't feel bad about the percentiles thing.. DS dropped down a few until he 'found' his line and then he stuck to it. I have the llare approach and have only made it to clinic to get G weighed three times I think? since we came home from hospital and she'll be 16wks on friday.

blotted I LOVE the pink hair & it's lovely to 'see' you back. Well done on going to the GP just take one day at a time and come talk to us if you can

sausage are you recovered from the MIL visit? lol at the caller display.. i do this too but usually when It's my mum for the hundredth time .

grumpy I have a solution re jennsters socks and you'll like them I promise! Buy 2 sets of them and then you can have lots of identical matching pairs

Gonna hit post now before i lose this and then be back to fill you in on what's going on by the seaside...

LoobyLou36 · 08/09/2009 20:57

I smell off-milk

M projectile vomited down my cleavage earlier - I must have missed a bit when cleaning up with the wet wipes

we were supposed to be going out for a meal tonight - I'd arranged my niece to look after M for 2/3hrs

I'm just glad M is on the mend I can hear her sighing thro the baby monitor

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 08/09/2009 21:00

Yeah nice try Filivingbytheseasoonweallhopeinareallybighousewithhottubandeverything

It's the bleedin' principle innit?

Deliberate odd socks indeed.

belgian lol @ microwave popcorn sans microwave!

My mum made me the anal pegger out I am today. She used to follow me down the line repegging. I now do it to DH if he ever tries to hang out the washing. It was so funny when she was over here after DS was born. DH was folding a shirt or something to take to work and did it all kack handed and backwards- just plain wrong. Mum and me shared a smirk- I felt like a grown up lady .

Looby Sorry you have been poorly. I am a feed by light girl too and I disturb DH a bit too. Last night I tried feeding in the dark which worked ok except the 4am feed when he latched on the the wrong bit and it bloody hurt. My DH is a sleep groper too He normally gets a knee and a shove.

DS has been feeding 3-4 times a night lately again which is tiresome. I have him on a harsh routine of bed at 7 though and he is catching on to the idea finally- he only cried for 10 mins tonight.

sausagenmash · 08/09/2009 21:05

Fibythesea that's a genius idea re the socks!

Anyway, I came back to share something amazing!

YEARS ago my parents had a musical toy for me when I was a baby (and when my brothers were babies, so we're harking back to the 60s here). They still have it, it doesn't go very well and is very worn, but M loves it for the, ooooh, 10 seconds it manages to play before going zzzzz and out of tune and dying.

But guess what! I've found it online in pristine condition! Look! I'm so chuffed. I've ordered one for M, and also a wind up telly that they do that plays London Bridge is falling down. Have gone all nostalgic and misty eyed for 'the good old days' Does anyone else remember these toys? Now, if I could find the wind up toy that plays Pop goes the weasel, my life will be complete.

Studying shmudying. Where the f is my dp so I can nip to the co-op to buy vino? FFS he has just texted. He said earlier he had to take a solicitor out for a drink after work, back home by 9 at the latest. Text says he is leaving in a minute, so he'll be home around 10ish now. SO selfish, especially as I've been dealing with his bloody mother who can't even put my daughter down for a second and sing f*ing stupid songs to her all day.

AM SO That's just ruined my excitement about finding nice toys.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 08/09/2009 21:14

saus I had that clock. My mum still has it. .

at your DP.

OP posts:
LoobyLou36 · 08/09/2009 21:16

wow I remember those toys saus

my DH isn't so much a "sleep" groper as an "I've had a bottle and a half of red wine she'll find me irresistable now" groper febes

Belgianchocolates · 08/09/2009 21:19

saus at your DH. Nothing's worse than looking forward to a nice glass of wine and it not materialising. I love old toys btw. I hate a lot of the flashing light battery eating toys they make for babies nowadays. Good old winding and rattling makes them just as happy

fi re the deliberate odd socks solution. One word: genius!

I can't make our telly work, read my book, dh is at work, hence me stalking MN tonight.

Febes · 08/09/2009 21:22

DH is a 4 pints of lager night groper. Usually right smack between nigth feeds so I don't get much sleep at all. I'm still waiting for my libido to come back. I used to quite like the night gropes

FiByTheSea · 08/09/2009 21:25

right... goings on chez FBTS household...

DS started back at pre-school yesterday... he's now going 5 mornings a week from 9am - 12pm and so far i've made it (yes i know it's only day 2 but anyway) without being late

Today we even walked there (20 mins up and down hills pushing pram with ds on buggy board... as I was going out for a cuppa tea and cake with a friend after we dropped off our dc's and parking the car can be a real pita (I was more than just 'glowing' by the time we arrived.. more like a sweaty blob!!) Good exercise though. Weather got really hot on the walk back so i had to strip change when we got home as I was literally dripping (sorry tmi!) hoping good things will happen re weight loss as I plan to be walking more often.

dad is still in the nursing home and looks like he'll need to change homes as they only had a place for him until sunday and he's not well enough to come home yet. Mum and I are off to look at 3 others that have spaces on thurs & friday so hopefully one will take my mums fancy. He is a lot better generally but the intravenous anti-biotics seem to have affected his bowel and he's having 'accidents' and has also fallen again a few times too. Mum is not strong enough to cope with the level of care he currently needs as she has MS too (albeit in remission at the moment) and needs her strength to see to herself.

Amongst all this I have 4 primary schools to check out for DS for sept 2010 (assuming we might still be here and not in NS). I'm seeing 1 tomorrow, 1 thursday before seeing the nursing home with mum after. 1 next tuesday and the last the tues after that (that one is my fav from everything i've read). Then we'll have to decide which one and get the choices in by 23rd oct.

OMG this NS emigrating business is soooo complicated. We downloaded the forms today and DH printed them off at work. There are so many forms to fill out... copy & send to various places... proof of qualifications in sealed university envelopes to organise... complete background and history for DH & myself for the last 10yrs (employers, places we've lived etc) to write... medicals... police checks... yadayadayada. . We'll start by phoning the halifax office to build up a relationship with them; as we need to convince them to write a letter of identification/recommendation for us as part of the Community Identified Stream application route we need to follow to hopefully get in...

Febes · 08/09/2009 21:25

Its a bit annoying to wind up said toys for DCs over and over and over again-said the woman who spent the last 2 days with 3 under 2s .
