Lucky you on the job front CC. You sound motivated and committed. I can't say I'm either when it comes to my job. Spent the week trying to sign off a mahoosive piece of work and failing because I just couldn't be arsed to do the final checks . On my mind today (which is rare, even when in the office ) as about to head off to a big event I've organised. Far too many decided to accept the invitation and it's going to be a shambles.

Oh and re: your DH CC but yay for Eddie Izzard. Do you need someone to accompany you as DH is being an arse?

CaptainCaveman · 12/09/2009 10:32

poppy I might just have to take you up on that offer.

Now ladies, don't forget the baptism is only 8 days away. Have you all got your virtual frocks for your virtual Godmother roles?

AnnVan · 12/09/2009 11:41

Aaargh!
It's party day, and Seb has decided to fall from the couch to the floor, meeting the coffee table with his face on the way! He now has two spectacular purple marks on his face. DP says we should put some concealer on it. Oh why today?!? We won't be able to post photos on FB now as social services will be called in.
But he did hit his face so hard, he just screamed so hard we had to remind him to breathe
Must dash, lots to do still, and don't worry Dizzy when he wakes from his nap I will administer arnica

Miamla · 12/09/2009 13:23

feeling pretty sorry for myself today. didn't sleep v well last night despite (or possibly because) DS was in my mum's room. the idea was that she was going to have him to let me get more sleep so that little plan backfired. but hey ho, it'll all be worth it in the end. my knee's sore, arms are sore from crutches and blah blah blah. i might try and have a bath later, being clean would probably help. i hate the grimy dirty feeling you get from being in a hospital

right, sorry to whinge, i'll be back to usual self soon hopefully!

Miamla · 12/09/2009 13:26

anyone got any experience of having a general anesthetic? why would my face feel like i've been wind burnt today? i'm assuming i shouldn't be but wondering if i should be worried!

good news re DS. he was really strange yesterday. didn't really want to be with me, just wanted my mum. he didn't even try and get a bf from me but he's back to his usual happy self today which is good

cyteen · 12/09/2009 14:41

Ann poor little Seb, you must have been beside yourselves

Our day started eventfully too, with DS covering himself in broken glass before 7.30 Thankfully no harm done - DP had swept up a broken wine glass and was looking for some newspaper to wrap it in, and DS grabbed the dustpan from his high chair and tipped it all over himself It's amazing how far they can reach isn't it?

Buckets that song is beautiful. Post up a clip if you do manage to work out a cover, eh?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 12/09/2009 17:45

Hi everyone.

ann ppor Seb, and you. It must have been frightening. I often have to blow on ds face to remind to breathe. He goes blue/purple very quickly.

He is currently sporting a black eye and a massive scab at the side of his eye.

cyteen
Also very scary, I too forget how far they can reach.

miamla hope you are feeling better, I know when dh had his 3rd knee op he was very odd and said he felt odd after.

CC lovely to hear someone happy in their work. Good for you.

Speaking of Eddie Izzard I have seen him twice, I think he is very very funny indeed.

I am not quite sure what has happened to my dcs. Everything is very good so far.
Ds has slept 12 hours with no wake ups for the last four nights.
Hope it lasts.
DD isn't doing too bad. Bless her.

She starts preschool on Tuesday and I am excited and sad.

sazzles well done on dd1 for swimming on her own. How very grown up and brave.
How did she get on at pre school. Hope she liked it.

off to catch up some more.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 12/09/2009 17:47

lwfh to hear you are ill, hope you recover quickly.

hotter hope the dcs have stopped whining. It can be very tiring when they both do it.

cyteen · 12/09/2009 19:18

Oww, poor M I'm glad to hear they've been sleeping a bit better for you though...gosh, preschool, it hardly seems possible does it? I can't imagine my precious little baby being ready for anything so grown up, and yet he's changing before my eyes every day

Miamla I forgot you were asking about roller derby - check out the London Roller Girls for starters...I just love the whole ethos, not to mention the skating of course. Not that I've managed to actually see any live, but I've read about it

Miamla · 12/09/2009 19:42

cyteen i was asking more about your involvement with it! do you skate?

i'm feeling more cheery now would seem i just needed a nap!

DS is snoring! mum's just been up to check he's ok because it was so loud over the monitor!

right, off to catch up now but from what i've read, lashings of arnica are needed all round for these adventurous little tikes of ours. DS has got a couple of new bruises today. looks like he's got purple eyeshadow on one of his eyes

cyteen · 12/09/2009 19:49

Oh right My involvement is currently zero, it's just something I've been interested in ever since I read about it in some tattoo magazine. The women involved seem like strong, positive feminist role models, plus they have fun and get knockabout exercise. I do skate but haven't for years - need to dust the skates off actually, I should do that while the weather is nice.

DS went up our stairs without a backward glance this evening [proud] He is more adventurous every day - more and more standing without holding onto anything. I know that's small fry to most of your walking talking LOs but I still find it amazing

Miamla · 12/09/2009 20:01

cyteen it is amazing! of course it is! its amazing because its your LO doing it!

I used to marshall on the Friday night street skate in town. absolutely loved it! have you ever done one? the pari-roller is absolutely out of this world! we stopped off in paris on the way to the le mans 24hr skate and the plan was 'just to do a little bit' because we were meant to be saving ourselves for the race the following day. well it was like a drug.. the smooth roads, the thousands (yup thousands!) of other skaters and the skating police were just too much to say no to! My team still came second in the race so we must have done something right!
sorry for all those with no interest in skating!

cyteen · 12/09/2009 20:09

Ooh, no I've never done anything like that, just a casual skater here. I would love to though. Hey, how about forming the August 08 Mums Skating Saviours?

CaptainCaveman · 12/09/2009 20:15

ooh ooh me me, I'll join . Although it's been some years since I skated, I'd love to do it again!

Am currently groaning whenever I move after going back to hockey this week. Trained for 2 hours on weds then played for an hour today. oof I'm bloody unfit . Maybe I should get some new skates!

Miamla · 12/09/2009 20:27

done! as soon as i'm given all clear from docs, i'm getting my skates back on haven't worn them since jan and i really miss it!
seriously, we should sort out a meetup, bring our babies and skates...leave the babies with the other mums and we can go for a cruise

Miamla · 12/09/2009 20:29

yay CC! i hadn't realised there were other closet skaters on here! well done for keeping the hockey up. really wish i had but feel its a bit late now. found my stick the other day though and couldn't face putting it in the charity shop pile so perhaps one day...

Miamla · 12/09/2009 21:27

anyone watching the proms tonight? they appear to be playing hoovers

AnnVan · 12/09/2009 22:49

Hi again everyone
miamla no experience of ga here, so can't give andvice but hope you are feeling better.

Party came off very well. Seb got some lovely presents (all wooden toys plus one book). SIL said we must come across as wooden people. Strangely he was not remotely intereted in the paper, he was on the floor pushing the toys about with one finger (as he does). One lady there also told me she is 8 weeks along with her DC2, her DS is younger than Seb so she reallly has beat us to it. All in all a lovely day, apart from the bruises on his face. Oh and the other lady there is a professional photographer, so we are going to be given a cd of lovely photos from the day.
I got all choked up when we sang happy birthday though. Feel rather silly about that, but I just can't believe we were singing happy birthday to my little baby. It's crazy.
Anyhoo we're shattered here, so need to prise sleeping DP off the couch and get him up to bed.

TwilightSurfer · 13/09/2009 01:36

I would join the skater group too!! My blades are all dusty in my closet. I'm not as good as I use to be but given some time and practice I'd be crazy freestyle in no time flat.

For the record, I am crazy. Decided in a bored moment today to strip the wallpaper off the hall bathroom. It's almost all gone now but the walls are still very very pastey. I'm going to have to out and purchase a paste remover product to clean the walls up so I can paint them. Now I'm plum worn out! What was I thinking!!!!???!!!!

Miamla the GA thing could be a minor reaction to the meds. Many meds cause you to flush (that's what it sounds like is happening to you). Should pass. I've never experienced that with GA but that doesn't mean it can't happen. GA typically makes folks itch...another symptom I've thankfully never experienced.

I would fall asleep right here if it were just a bit more comfortable.

Night

Yesterday ds learnt to climb on the sofa. I don't like it, but it is still amzing.

Hey ts You do remind me of my dh constantly on the go and looking for something to do.

All this skate talk is very exciting. I have not done it for a long long time, but loved it.

Off to get the 'Charlotte' this afternoon.
Can't wait.
Will upload some pics later.

Hope you all had a good night sleep.

sambo303 · 13/09/2009 10:48

miamla how lovely of your mum to mind ds in the night, hope you manage to get some sleep and start recuperating; ds says thank you for his delicious jigsaw!!

ts no1 and buckets i was a bit disappointed to hear you are not pg, it was a bit of a rollercoaster reading the thread, thinking are they, arent they. But you all seem happy so its all good.

TwilightSurfer · 13/09/2009 13:03

morning! so much to do today!!! dh is still in bed. it's 7:55am and NO ONE ELSE IS IN BED!!!!

No1 Charlotte is a wonderful pony name. I miss my horsing days. The rink up the street had a show going on yesterday. We drove slowly by it so I could check it out. I didn't see any as beautiful as the one I use to have. We raised appaloosa show horses when I was small. I was the only kid in my grade that spent weekends at rodeos. Totally cool!!!

Sambo there's always the chance of mishap around this thread. We seem to be quite the WILD bunch. I guessing though that my DH like Buckets DH have reached the end of their sperming days (let's hope anyway). I've been a little disappointed too that someone (other than me) hasn't shown up pregnant yet. We have such cute babies already...it is criminal not to produce more!!

Wishing all an excellent day. Off to fix FB. DH jumped on talking smack with all his friends last night. ARRRGGHHH!! He needs his own account!!

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 13/09/2009 13:27

miamla i seemed to miss them playing the hoover on the proms, switched over to watch Mock the Week on Dave instead

ann glad Seb's party went off ok. I love wooden toys, they don't date like some of the plastic crap ones. (and we have more than our fair share of the plastic ones!)

No1 has Charlotte arrived?

ts hope you get fb fixed afte dh's wanderings through your account

O has a bloody nose after ds1 dropped him on his face at church . I think I might have social services knocking on my door tomorrow! Never mind, I'll be out at work

sambo303 · 13/09/2009 16:02
