Ann It's not a favour to you, it's spending time with his son. I have trained DH to get offended when people use the word babysitting.

RedLentil · 14/09/2009 23:03

God, there are some muppet dads on the loose at the mo. They need time on their own with their children to get some sense of the job in hand.

It makes me very sad to hear about any one of our band having their basic rights ignored ...

I was at Ds's school parents' association meeting tonight so lots of chat about the centenary celebrations in two weeks time. It's going to be great if we get good weather especially.

Thanks so much for all your kind words for DS. It is an awful situation really as the boy doing it has had a horrific childhood and is with a wonderfully caring foster family who are working so hard to help him fulfil his potential.

I've spoken really honestly to the mum involved and said I'll do all I can to support her but that part of that support means putting a stop to the playdates that she and the boy have been really keen to pursue.

The alternative was to make up small excuses for cancelling, because the school aren't keeping her, or me, informed about the way things are going.

Things were better today, so that is a start. It is just impossible to know whether nurture now will be able to undo damage done at an early stage.

I want to help, but don't want DS to suffer either. He is so jumpy at the moment ...

DD2 has figured out what trips to the beach are about. When we got there she started miming throwing stones into the water and shouting 'ro, ro'

RedLentil · 14/09/2009 23:36

I am pottering around the house trying to think of good academic article titles that begin with 'Freeze it:'

I think I'll opt out of the career discussion for a while yet.

So far I have ...

Freeze it: Domestic Economy and Female Autonomy

Freeze it: A Queer History of Domestic Appliances

Freeze it: Resisting Traditional Gender (Casse)Roles

Now if you'll excuse me, I must go off and knit myself a life

lwfh · 15/09/2009 00:07

RedLentil surely this is easy. Or do you need the topic slightly more specific?

Freeze it: the use of liquid nitrogen in food storage

Freeze it: The health impact of cold weather. A case control study in a UK urban population

Freeze it: The growth of the Argentine economy and the impact of soy export taxes

DS still very spotty and pukey but not hot and bothered any more, which is good. Sazzles no diagnosis here at all for a baby wanting to be cuddled the whole time - but am finding it exceedingly disconcerting.

lwfh · 15/09/2009 00:07

Although quite nice too.

TwilightSurfer · 15/09/2009 01:00

Freeze It: The Best Way to Remove a Wart

Freeze It: Popsicle Science

Freeze It: A New Dance Craze

Sorry couldn't help myself.

Well I just got a call from DD1's carpool buddy. She is sporting a temp of 104! Now I'm watching DD1 for symptoms.

Sazzles I hope DD1 perks up over night.

Buckets I'm off to listen to your bootleg clip. I couldn't earlier when in the truck. Wonder why my phone wouldn't let me play it.

hotterpotter · 15/09/2009 12:17

You'd better come back soon Dizz - 15 more posts and another Aug 08 thread will have been filled to the brim!

RedLentil · 15/09/2009 13:18

.

LoveBuckets · 15/09/2009 13:57

Lentil Sorry about you and DS's dilemmas, perhaps it's his caring nature that attracts them, they see he'd be a good friend but they don't have the skills to 'do' friendship.

Rubbish sleep last night, was soooo cold, I have swollen glands and Kurt woke up inconsolable (eventually gave him Nurofen). Basically slept 2-6 so made DH have breakfast with Kurt when he woke at 6.30. Kurt has been moany all day, most unlike him, hopefully just teething. I managed to have a doze after the schoolrun though.

DS1 settling very nicely at school. I get the feeling his teacher has been pleasantly surprised by his co-operation and has taken a real shine to him (well, he is a lot of fun.) DD seems much chirpier and has made friends with a little girl from our road who is in her class now which is v handy.
