Sounds like there is something in the air with all these pesky babies DS took an hour to settle last night then was awake at 12, 5, and 5.45. Took him into DH at 6.10 because I had to get ready for work and he went back to sleep in our bed He's gone to bed like a good boy tonight though so fingers crossed for a better night tonight as don't fancy getting up drunk

I am in awe of people with responsibility and career plans. I drifted into the civil service after 8 years on the dole (as they were the only place that would have me), 10 years on I have only managed to climb two rungs and still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. I am 40 ffs

Is it wine o'clock yet???

Two more months and I get a certificate, woo hoo, and a whole extra week's leave each year Have applied for another promotion today, if I keep doing it one day I will succeed

Sorry to hear your work is being shit Sazz , so will you be going to London just one day a week? I moan about my 55 minute commute but it is small fry compared to yours, unless you get paid travelling time?[hopeful]

hotterpotter · 11/09/2009 21:01

Am I missing something good on telly ???? [unlikely]

Where is everyone tonight? Don't make me talk to DH

TwilightSurfer · 11/09/2009 21:01

Hotter if I'd have stayed at my old job I'd probably not even be one rung up from when I started. DH on the other hand has YET to apply for promotion....he was MOVED up to top spot without asking....they just "liked" him. That would never in a million years happen to me. (mind you that's my fault because i tend to voice my opinion.)

Sazzles I'm surprised she's not TEACHING swim lessons by now. She was swimming like a pro back in March.

Miamla Hope you're feeling well.

another one with feck all 'career' plans here and I was full of great intentions at uni - was doing civil emergency management and had intentions to go off to do my postgrad, join the UN and save the world hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm didn't quite happen.

a la Hots, I 'fell' into my job having temped my way through uni - listened to all the lies promises I was spun about being involved with the emergency planning and I'm still no further forward - they have paid for me to be off on matty though so can't all be bad. something has to change though as I don't want to be doing this for much longer - can't go into too much details re job due to the nature of it blah blah blah but it has a few good points - I helped someone a lot today and when that happens it is worthwhile

girls all in bed, DH working till 4am and I can hardly keep my eyes open am sooooooo tempted to tank have some wine but doubt it would help me one little bit

sazz glad she enjoyed her swimming lesson - hope the sick passes as quickly as it appeared. Can't really add anything to the job dilema other than I hope they come to their senses very soon

poppy glad to hear DH on the mend - its been lovely up here hasn't it - not seem much from where I've been sat though am sorry haven't managed to arrange a meet - am chasing my tail at the moment but I'll sit down and sort something out soon I promise

evening all else - fingers crossed for sleepy babies all round and sunny weekends

TwilightSurfer · 11/09/2009 21:17

child one: riding in circles on trike singing nonsensical song over and over and over

child two: running after child one screaming as scream that sounds like an old school police whistle

parent on duty: sitting at desk trying to ignore child one and child two while wishing she'd purchased ear plugs when last out

argh! i need another wee! see you in about an hour...i'm fed up of crutches already! DS ran off with one earlier..that was amusing given that i couldn't chase him to get it back

hotterpotter · 12/09/2009 08:41

Morning all

Miamla I hope your knee is feeling OK today and you are managing to get to the loo on time

These children are doing my head in today - it's been whine whine whine since before 7am (I'm sure someone will make a joke about wine/whine like mother like child...) At least DS slept through until 6.30am which is a big improvement on the previous two nights. Sun's shining though, might just let them out like pets and lock the door

luckoftheirish · 12/09/2009 09:26

Morning

Hope you feel ok too miamla..

Sun shining here too.. lots of wake ups from both dds last night but refused to get up til 7..!!!

Sazz totally right on clean house without dh.. washing on and half normal load, kitchen tidy and house does not look like usual bombsite

CaptainCaveman · 12/09/2009 09:46

Morning

Sorry to hear of tiredness going on. I unwillingly got up at 6.30 with both ds's after having been on a works night out last night . Apparently dh couldn't get up because I didn't give him prior notice , and saturday is his lie in. Tosser. O now back in bed and dh still asleep!

Talking of the tosser, I just bought us Eddie Izzard tickets for dh's birthday. Am ridiculously excited already!

miamla how is your knee?

albs how's the MIL?

Work wise for me, I joined the NHS as a student nurse in 1992, qualified in 1995, worked on trauma & orthopaedics for 2.5 yrs before moving to community nursing. Worked as a community staff nurse for 2.5 years before doing my BSc in community Healthcare nursing (District Nursing), worked as a DN for 2 years before moving to a joint clinical and operational management post. Had ds1. Came back to same job and completed post grad cert in public services management. Followed by pg dip in same subject. Got pg with ds2, went on mat leave. Had interview for my current post when O was 8 weeks old, and am now part senior management team for community adult services. Small part operational management, mainly strategic development. Hmm, I see a pattern developing here . Next plan is to conquer the world complete MSc and then think what the next 30 odd years might hold . I do like my job though.

CaptainCaveman · 12/09/2009 09:52

That should be part of the senior management team.....ahem.
