Nice early strat for you EPPM??

I thought it was closed too, but that may have just meant you couldn't post anything, could you still see the name list. the mumsnet one was closed too and I don't think I could see a list of members until I was accepted.
Sure that Lenni has sorted it out!

LenniEd · 19/08/2009 07:52

It was closed so don't panic - but now is secret so no one can search for it and it won't appear on our fb profiles. I'd imagine most of you have your fb profiles so they aren't visible to people you aren't friends with anyway so don't think you need worry too much. EPPM, I think you are still incognito - I have absolutely no idea whatsoever who you are despite knowing your fb pseudonym and children's names, not a clue.

Having said that, I do think namechanging might be the best defence to the DM rubbish - although only really beneficial to those who post regularly to give advice on other threads - hate to say it, but people like tree. Is such a shame since it's people like that who make this place such a resource. I wouldn't give up your lovely name though EPPM. The other option would be to have two MN aliases - one for in here and one for out there - but believe you might already be on to that.

Good idea Lenni! I don't think I post enough on the 'outside' to warrant a namechange. Its difficult isn't it, sometimes wish the post-natal groups could be more private, but then you wouldn't get people lurking and then ultimately joining like me.

I think that is the whole problem MNHQ are having at the moment, making topics/forums private like people are asking for just defeats the object of the help and advice..

hi

hope you are feeling better tree poor you and hatts

peach - me and my dh are small - so with dd1 paedatrician just said small runs in the family and fussy eating
that is why we raent going down the same route with dd2

LenniEd · 19/08/2009 10:14

Last post on the fb group business for me otherwise will never catch up on other news but think I will trawl through threads later and find our list of names and birthdates and post it to the (now secret) fb group. If the DM thing balloons any further I think it might be prudent for us to then have the lists with birthdates and forenames on deleted from the thread. We wouldn't lose the lists as would be on fb.

These things with personal anoynmity have surfaced over the years I've been on here and they have (previously) passed again but this one seems different to me since is an ongoing threat iyswim.

Pat I think you'll be fine. Things to avoid ime are "firstname lastname" posts of any nature - or mentioning your surname at all really, being too specific about any personal details such as where you live or work and too much detail on your MN profile - which I am guilty of at the moment. If you are really concerned about any individual posts they can be deleted by MNHQ.

Lenni.... you are too smart, lady (eek am I that obvious?)

dog- no children and you knew her????? how the hell did she get on, and why?

tink thanks... but DH isn't small- 3 of his gp over 6'.... tis worrying me

I have had some posts deleted a few months ago, after a particularly nasty troll- mn were v helpful and pretty speedy (though of course they may be inundated atm)
The search facility is very powerful though- you can easily piece together a persons location, children, school, etc when used in conjunction with google.

mornin' all,

this DM stuff is all pretty scary! I hadn't got round to doing a profile though.

dog go Arlo! Thats great news. Am not of isla sleeping through..honest

tree hope you are feeling better today, how was your night?

We had some success last night. Ava went to bed with very little fuss, and although she woke a lot still, she settled herself down a few times before we got to her. We didn't need to pick her up at all, and she was playing happily in her cot this morning! Am hoping it'l continue to improve bit by bit. She went down for her nap this morning with no fuss at all. Was worried yesterday that putting her in her own room was terrible mistake. Feeling more positive today.

PatTheHammer · 19/08/2009 11:59

Just whizzing in for moral support off to take DS and DD to nuresery for their first settling in afternoon

PatTheHammer · 19/08/2009 11:59

Good grief, emotion is making my spelling complete bollocks nursery

treedelivery · 19/08/2009 12:02

Name change and remove profile?

Hello all. Off for a few hours kip as mil has come to conduct the bedlam orchestra.

hi

too hot here!!!
dd1 is having fun in the paddling ball
just got bracken weighed 13lbs13ozs following 2nd centile just above red

newspaperdelivery · 19/08/2009 16:38

Ok. I have searched and asked for messages with my email or my home town in. I have namechanged but not out of recognition as I don't think I am that interesting

Do you all think this is enough or should I remove stuff with the kids name in? That would be our whole thread! Maybe posts with both their names in?????????

This had given me a bit of a kick up the ass about security actually. I have taken the name out of my email account too, adn made my photobox albums private

Now I can't pounce on threads and insist people look at my wedding photos!!

kittypink · 19/08/2009 16:39

wish I was in paddling pool! am sweaty betty.
Are they pleased with her weight?

newspaperdelivery · 19/08/2009 16:41

Aw little tiny Tinklet! Bless. H is 14lb so a giant next to the Tinklet. But still only a sapling

Everyone ill, grumpy or both. H finally crashed ina heap at 3, after staying awake since 8am!!!! Wtf??

H cried till 2am, then J got up fairly often to be sick or cough or both. MIl came to hel for a few hours so I could sleep but J just cried and came and got me. She can't deal with them when she is ill. SHe needs peace and gentleness - they are interactive types!

So no nap but a huge help, bless them. I am very lucky.

kittypink · 19/08/2009 16:42

its horrid that you have had to do any of those precautions newspaper. I think you have done enough though. Maybe just don't use both names in future.

I'm definitely going to be super careful in future.
