Hello people!
Festival was ace. The weather was horizontal rain and strong wind. Many a tent blew off! Chareltans and Kula Shaker were tops, and loads for kids to do. Jess did heaps of crafts and yoga, storytellling hours and music jamming sessions. WE stayed up late the last night to watch those bands, but had early nights the other two and had busy days.

Hysterical amount of utterly wasted parents wandering about calling 'Astrid....Solar darling.....come to mummy......Cylesteeee sweeeetie....mummy needs to chill now....' T'was very funny as I was very sober and straight so was able to watch on The Astrid, Solar and so on usually to be found in mud, tent or circus camp making something. Fabby. WE had 3 or 4 in with us at one point - no idea where they came from or went to.

Delighted to hear you found a house Soccer!

Thanks for the comments on FB, it's lovely to think someone is looking at our news, if that makes sense.

Hi Heron

How are you Dog?

Poo to work Gumps, but hope it was ok for you.

Peace here too Boden, dd1 decided she had to visit nanna and climb trees. She will be back soon, but I had a lovely slow start to the day.

News: we are going on weeks holiday on Sat!! WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happily booked flights before both the cars broke [probably both written off - panic - breathe - panic - breath....] Sod it will worry when get back form jollies. Will have to get a mega loan I guess. Is this the end to my Mat leave till Jan.......??? Bugger damn cars. We only got it 6 months ago and it is dead. IOt was my yummy mummy mobile too.

Focus on holiday we cant afford and should be spending ££ on the cars...

All weird here, kinda got cabin fever. Didn't leave house at all yesterday, went out earlier and got menaced by thunder clouds. came home after 10 mins which was just in time as the rain was fat and wet and we only just missed being in it!

Missed baby massage today as instructor has hurt her foot.

DD seems really pale today. She hasn't been wanting her milk recently, only food and a water. Am worried she may be getting deficient in something. She has dark lines under her eyes, which she usually only get when she is tired, but she has napped really well today.

moosemama · 01/09/2009 17:03

A'ernoon folks.

Cabin fever here too furry not left the house since last Thursday now!

News glad the festival was a success. Sounds like it was good fun despite the weather. Lol at the Astrid and Solar type parents. Am very about Kula Shaker - used to love them when I was younger.

Good news about the holiday. Where are you jetting off to? Don't worry about the cars, (as my Mum always says, 'put your trust in the universe) just put all your worries to the back of your mind and enjoy your break. We did that when we went away, deliberately forgot all about home and all the stress that goes with it, with the plan being to sort our lives out when we got back. Would have worked too if it hadn't been for our pesky landlady. Actually, it did work really, we are verry slowly getting on top of things now and feel a bit like there is some (very slow) forward progress. If I'm honest, I think I'll get on top of things much better when the boys go back to school and I am not perpetually chasing my tail cleaning up after them and adjudicating their battles!

Right, I really have to go and make a start on tea now, plan for this evening is finally to label all the boys school kit.

moosemama · 01/09/2009 17:08

Furry sorry, missed the bit about your dd being poorly. If you are worried she is deficient, are you giving her a supplement. I use abidec drops for dd (used them for the boys too) as they are easy to buy with my Tesco shop. If she is on formula though, its unlikely she is deficient as they are fortified with iron etc. Oh - just saw she is refusing milk, maybe you could just supplement with vitamins until she starts taking it again.

It could be that she is about to growth spurt, or pass a new developmental milestone. That would explain the extra sleep and still being tired.

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 17:09

Hi Moose and furry and Boden and all.

I think I am an Astrid and Solar type myself deep down - only straightlaced and sober and so able to spot anyone who as so much as inhaled opened a can!
Lost dd1 for 20 mins but it turned out she had gone off road in the camping field with the red wagon and a kid from 2 tents up. If you can imagine a trail of collapsing awnings and guy ropes twisted up in the truck wheels you get the picture.

God dinner. What the hell is for dinner?

hi all, hi news furry dog
what a day! DH is away on work, has been for the last 10 days so it is just me and DS1 (who is 5) and LO who is 7 months.

guess who is the hard work!?? yep DS1.

DH will be back on sat. i expect him to take DS1 off my hands. bless him, DS1 is a lovely boy, he is just so energetic and needs to run around lots. and i am just so worn out! fact that i am 43 yrs old and feeling 103!

so LO is now down, DS1 next...

am having glass of wine to relax...
not sure what to have for dinner.

AstridsMama · 01/09/2009 20:04

OY news watch it.... there is actually a mummy of an Astrid on this thread....

rl a bit overwhelming atm (teething hell) am not really here, honest...

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 20:15

Hey but I'm a total hippie!
Sorry Astrids mamma

Did I see you at Solfest with a barrel of homebrew?

stripeyloathestheDM · 01/09/2009 20:29

hi all
hope fab weekends all around - not a bank holiday here but we were unusually sociable all the same, hangovers in this house on sunday

tree, saw fb pics - looks like it was a blast. your small girls are just gorgeous.

astridsmum - we have an astrid? we do? should i know who? also teething hell here, poor c having trouble eating and especially bfing, nothing seems to help. hope the blinkin' things cut soon, it's just crap.

dog, kittens adorable. hope dp has got his head around two. moose is right about the deafness, particularly with the blue eyes. they can't deal with roads if they are deaf, we had a white one with odd eyes (one green, one blue) when i was a kid and she got killed on the road.

lenni, hope all went okay at doc.

stripeyloathestheDM · 01/09/2009 20:32

also, kitty, hope dd is better

soccer, hurrah for house!

PatTheHammer · 01/09/2009 20:32

Tee-hee was waiting for that AstridsMama . hope the teething hell subsides.

News- photos of solfest look fab, I am so . What a good buy that red truck was, looks superb for porting around the kids and all their baggage.

Heron- enjoy wine, sounds like you deserve it.

Dog- I really wanna come to Longleat with you, damn and blast to flipping work.....this is what I miss most, freedom to do as I please. Have a great time. The kittens are adorable, I love their eyes.

Gumps- hope work was ok.

Moose- having fun with labelling? Can't wait for all that business. I have just written in pen on all jackets/hats etc that the DC's will take to nursery. Also had to put in more spare clothing today as they BOTH got wet playing with the water today and needed changing.

furry-your dinner sounds lovely, please do share recipe, Is it a Mumsnet one?? Hope your DD ok.

Well some good things about today were:
Both DD and DS went very happily to their keyworkers at nursery.
We got there on time/early.
Made good time to work.
Only 2 short meetings today and no kids in
DC's ate all their dinner and tea at nursery
DS managed 2 naps so must be fairly happy
Had NO tea to make when we got home
DC's both tired out and in bed asleep by 6.45pm
Head has okayed some moving days for me in a few weeks

Bad things from today:
Even if you get there early they will not physically let you into the relevant room till 8am so the whole dropping off procedure took far longer than I envisaged (not so bad today but tomorrow all the kids are back....cue traffic hell!)
few kids (particularly those dropped off by their dads) were making a scene and crying, not nice emotional scenes first thing in the morning
The renovations on my classroom have not been finished
My classroom is a shit-tip
Spent the whole of today unpacking boxes and tidying up rather than preparing lessons
They have cut my hours by 3 lessons a fortnight (have cut DC's hours at nursery as a result but financially next year is a squeeze anyway so this is NOT GOOD).
The SMT at my school are still all smug twats and have not changed/left over the holidays (boo-hiss).

Gumps · 01/09/2009 20:42

Quick one. ROFL at SMT Pat. They are the same wherever you go. Glad first day went ok and kids were good. How many days are you working?
Good day here. Was home by 2pm and taken out to lunch so can't really complain. Managed to go to the gym and cook lots for S. Even dh got a cooked meal and I made my first ever fish pie. Can't wait to spend day with boys tomorrow though no doubt by 11 I will wish I was at work
S still hot and a bit cranky. Have calopolled. Having bed dramas with ds1 but a bit long so will save for tomorrow (hold your excitement).
Hope all little ones and mammas well.

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 21:05

DD2 just ate 3 pieces of pasta ans some spinach, tomato, hemp seed and apricot sanuce with falafel. As a baby who usually struggles with a rice cake this is pretty major!

Well done Pat, you negotiated through the 1st day. Well done.

Dog - its hard keeping the shit at arms length, I do it too but its very tiring isn't it? We thought about just getting a van too. We could have loads of kids then....

Ya Boo sucks to teething - camomilla [Teetha granules or pastiles]?

Your mum is dead right Moose. Worry will neither break the car nor fix the car. Its a bit easier with a baby, I can just hide in a baby bubble. I feel sorry for dh though - he is shouldering alone a bit.

Oh yes, dd1's shoes from HushPuppies, but I think they will be wide. Bugger knows what we'll do then.

I really like the name Astrid actually, I was however amused by my very vivid mental pictures of the festivally 'under-the-influence' type mummies. Came across many many of them during my festy years. (I too was the straight-edge one - except for the odd vodka aberration every now and again ).

I also know two Sols but think they might be short for Solomon rather than Solar.

I really liked the name Serren as a possible for dd (must have a thing about star related names) but it really clashed with our surname.

Pat glad today went well for the dcs, sorry your day wasn't as good.

Gumps sorry S is poorly, hope he's better soon.

Heron hi there, you definitely deserve that glass of wine, not sure how I'd cope with dh away for that long.

Roasted mediterranean vegetable risotto for dinner - was yum, even if I do say so myself (and yes I did eat some - regretting it now though - ouch!).

Stripey poor little C. Dd was exactly the same when she was cutting her bottom two teeth, flatly refused to bf and screamed every time I tried to latch her on. Bizarrely she was worse on the right side than the left. If its any consolation they cut with 48hrs of her being like that, so hopefully C's will be through really soon.

Furry I have been going through the MN recipes as well this weekend, looking for inspiration for healthy lunchbox treats for the boys and ideas for simple blw meals that we can all share.

Well, haven't managed to start the labelling tonight, dd has been a pain refusing to go to sleep and my tum is not at all happy since I ate that risotto.

moosemama · 01/09/2009 21:38

News yay - go H! Mmmm falafel .

Dog/News have you looked at VW Type 4 vans like this one or this one. Loads of room for hoards of kids, can add in or take out the middle row of seats and can convert the back to make them into a day van (sink/cooker etc) so best of both worlds. You can even get them with pop-tops. Alternatively, great excuse for getting a Mazda Bongo. Personally I would always go for vw reliability though.

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 21:39

I wanted to call DD1 Minnie or Tempest for a boy. I got this face ---> only in whitegrey colour from my mum.

What was that hand sign the straight edgers did Moose?

Have prattled on on your thread Dog!
