Blaaaaaahh, I keep getting that crawly feeling.

Soccerette · 31/08/2009 19:17

Oh my goodness you ladies talk.

No time to catch up.

Barn conversion lovely. Will be completed in next week, only carpets to go down. Hoping to move 10th Sept. Will rent for 6 months while get bearings of area & look for something to buy!

Hope all well xx

PatTheHammer · 31/08/2009 19:46

Oh, great news soccer. 6 months will give you loads of time to get a 'feel' for the area.

furry- yeuch at the spiders, I am a complete wimp with spiders and have come across loads recently with all the packing and moving around. there are about a million in our shed that we need to sort out..........I am not looking forward to it.

Moose- The yoghurt may be boring but think of the health benefits . Glad DS1 better and DD not showing signs. All ready for back to school yet?

Had a lovely day today at Sudeley Castle with the in-laws. Couldn't really enjoy it fully as kept thinking of tomorrow and leaving the DC's at nursery for their first full day . Not too bothered about work as it is an inset day and not too taxing, just a chance to prepare the coming weeks (sorted out first week pretty much before I left). Not looking forward to asking my boss for moving days off this early in the term, won't go down well after 7 months maternity and then 6 weeks holiday.....but what can you do!

missjackson · 31/08/2009 20:08

Hi all, hope you had nice long weekends.

ah Pat bless you, it must be really hard to leave them - but I am sure they will have a great fun day. Do they nap at nursery? (I guess they must) - gosh, I can't imagine anyone else being able to get N to sleep, he would just have a total melt down. The words 'rod' and 'back' spring to mind

soccerette yey for barn conversion - we love them! Sounds lovely and brand spanking new too - ours has spiders galore as no-one seems to have informed them that this is no longer a proper barn.

furry you would love the spiders here then! I am okay with the smaller ones, but for big ones DH has to be called in.

No time for proper post as we have some new neighbours coming for a drink and N just woke up again after crashing out at 6.45pm. The crawling is really knackering him out - but obviously not enough!

moosemama · 31/08/2009 20:20

Nearly ready Pat but mine aren't back until the 7th. Got all the uniform, new shoes, lunch bags, school bags, pencil cases etc just need to label itall now. (Whoever it was that introduced us to clippits name tag thingies I heart you - lots!) Big un mn hug for you for tomorrow.

soccer great new about the barn.

furry you'd hate it here, we have huuuggeee big black hairy legged spiders. They,ve always been here, even when I was little. I distinctly remember a huge one plopping into the bath water off the ceiling when my sister and I were playing in the bath - it was the size of my hand! Used to hate them and run away screaming, but had to learn to control it so the dcs didn't get scared of them. These days I just catch them in a glass or teatowel and take them outside. [brave mummy emoticon] Now moths on the other hand truly terrify me.

moose i knew what you meant! How are tings in your house? got the vibes (in my skim read) that there were some poorly peeps?!

missj Oh no- I'm not fond of spiders. Not mad Scared of them.... But more like put a glass over it and leave for OH to deal with when gets home.

missj Go Nye crawling. No signs of crawling here at all, and i have to say (sorry) that i'm quite pleased, especially with this moving from pillar to post at the moment that she stays relatively in one place! Oh, and about what you wrote before about doing some mush feeding as well, we are too! Using two spoons, sort of just giving her a loaded spoon, and shes been feeding herself. Especially with bed time approaching, Tonight she had some chunky ministrone (sp?) soup, and LOVED it! But still loves playing with all her food. Oh and RE: Teething. Esme hasn't SHOWN any teeth yet, but a few weeks ago had some unsettled nights and seemed to be teeth. As someone else recommended Teetha is good, and for directly applying to the gums Calpol do a gel called Calgel- that did the trick too! although, we are still totally gummy here?!?

Is Esme the only one without any teeth?Pat Sorry your returning to work is playing on your mind... it'll be your day off before you know it & then time with the little cherubs will be even more precious!

Right, off for TV in bed, and be asleep in moments no doubt! xx

moosemama · 31/08/2009 20:41

What's scaring you in particular Dog anything I can help with?

I always go to a local independent shop to get the boys' shoes. Clarks always seem to fit them too snug and they need a new pair almost immediately. Neither of my boys have needed a new pair all year when they've been fitted independently, mainly as they tend to fit half a size up for growing space. Usually get them Startrite shoes. If you know her size you can buy both Clarks and Startrite online. Startrite also sell their shoe gauges on their site so you can measure them at home and then order the shoes online.

Hi Soccer yes the boys have had Swine Flu. DS1 was really poorly, but fortunately it hasn't hit ds2 so hard.

Dd isn't really interesting in crawling either at the moment. Got up on her hands and knees a few weeks ago, but nothing since.

We have done a bit of mush feeding too. I gave her the odd Ella's pouch while we were on holiday, purely for convenience sake. It was much easier to spoon it in than let her cover herself in food while we were travelling. She loves their lentil and vegetable bake. She handles a spoon really well herself but still prefers to use her hands for porridge and soup.

No you're not mad Dog all perfectly normal worries imho.

They really do take care of them though and they are walked through everything including eating lunch and going to the toilet regularly in the first couple of weeks. They are usually too busy having fun to get upset, but if they do, reception teachers are lovely and very used to giving hugs. Ds2's teacher said she was so pleased to get a lovely cuddle when he got upset about something just before school at the end of last term, it meant she got a cuddle when usually they are so well settled by that stage of the year that no-one 'needs' her so much any more iyswim.

With my boys I just reinforced to them that the teachers were there to help them and if they had any worries or problems to go and tell them. Its important to tell them that 'all' the teachers are there to help though as ds2 thought he had to try and find his own teacher every time, even at break.

Get what you mean about having to take them every day though. I definitely mourned my loss of freedom and having to live my life around the school bell from then on.

Mind you, in our school they weren't so strict with reception kids in the first couple of weeks and were willing to work with parents to introduce them to full days more gradually if they were finding it too tiring etc.

My DH is allergic to cats too. Strange as he grew up with cats and had his own big fat Garfield like cat that slept on his bed, but then he developed allergy related asthma in his teens and has been allergic to cats ever since. Mind you, he is officially allergic to dogs as well, but has developed a tolerance from living with them for all these years.

I would definitely get the vet to check out the white cat's hearing, its very common for pure white animals with blue eyes to be deaf and if he/she is then she will have to be a house cat.

Glad you are feeling more positive. Hope you have a lovely week with DP and the dcs.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 31/08/2009 23:34

Hello. Just been out for dinner with friends (and DS!) and was lovely. I feel human.

Will post properly tomorrow. Good luck with the school preparation those of you who have DCs going soon. Dog am certain B with be fine, and I know she'll be getting scooped up for a big hug and lots of love as soon as she emerges at 3pm. It's terrible to see our babies grow up though isn't it? T starts pre-school in Jan, if I think about leaving her I sob. She has never been left except with GPs, I'm not sure I can do it! Do you think they will take me too??

elkiedee · 31/08/2009 23:55

Hi all

Dog, we have two cats from the same litter - not kittens at the time they came to live with us as they were a year old. They're quite competitive but there's a couple of times one has gone to the vet and the other looks quite worried.

How many babies and cats are you going to have by the time you're 30 though (or even as old as me?)

Socc, glad it sounds as though you've found a good place to rent.

Conor has just this week moved from the pre-crawling stage (he looked as if he was about to for at least two months!) to learning to move forward. If your baby's not crawling, enjoy it while it lasts. His third tooth has finally cut the gum, is still growing into a full tooth and there are more to come.

Saw my ex today - we split up in 1996 about a year after I moved to London but kept in touch for a few years then lost contact until my mum bumped into him nearly 3 years ago (I was pregnant with Danny). This was the first time he's met the DCs. It was sort of strange but nice to get back in touch. Tomorrow my sister and her baby (born later the same month as C) are coming over, and on Friday another friend I've got back in touch with after a long time is coming over - though we've seen her a couple of times before as she now lives 5 miles from my mum.

Morning all, just bookmarking and recovering from a fab weekend, completely exhausted.

Pat Are you back today? Good luck, I hope it goes well. I am back next Mon and think its going to be a shock to the system...am feeling a bit at thought of leaving the Dcs with DH.

Soccer Glad you found a house, what a relief.

Dog Love the pics of your kitties on FB, aww, so cute, we used to have a white cat when I was a child, you little kitten relly reminded me of her.

Moose Hope Ds is better, you've had bad luck with two doses of the SF.

MissJ Go Nye! No crawling here yet, but J is 'bum bouncing across the room, quite interesting to watch.. Still no teeth either but have had an incredibly grumpy boy for 4 days...so please come soon...thank heavens for teetha.

Kitty Spiders...>

DD's potty training is driving me insane, she'll poo in the potty, but just doesn't get the peeing thing, I think she likes wearing new knickers all the time and the attention she gets when she wets herself....arghhhhh...my house smells of wee.

bodenaddict · 01/09/2009 10:02
