Front, back and hip. IME they tend to prefer back/hip to front, although DD would sleep for hours on front carry until she was 12mo when she got too heavy. I tie my hair up otherwise they do pull. I also attach a little toy to the straps to entertain them, otherwise they tend to chew my clothing which gets a bit annoying once I'm dripping with saliva [boak]

LenniAgain · 21/08/2009 15:38

DD grown out of the clothing chewing phase now btw!

PatTheHammer · 21/08/2009 17:03

Hey, DH off today so we have just had a fab day out at Slimbridge WWT. Meant to go to Berkeley castle but got there and it was closed for a private function.....in the school holidays . Anyway, back in a bit as just doing tea and off swimming tonight as didn't go weds..

newspaperdelivery · 21/08/2009 17:49

Can you help?

fourlittlefeet · 21/08/2009 20:41

ooh I love Slimbridge! The flamigos are stinky but amazing. We're members of the WWT and like going to the one in London.

news, don't have any of those items, but good luck with getting them and would love to see a photo of the finished result!

kittypink · 21/08/2009 20:58

Hia all,

ray that dress is lush! are you enjoying all the wedding shopping? Whats the new dress choice like?

pat Slimbridge sounds good, is it a safari park type thing?

FFF flamingos rock!

had a good day today, DH took Ava into town and I got some cleaning done. She lunged forwards in the bath so she ended up on her front, kicking and splashing like she was swimming, good job DH had a good hold of her!
Was very cute and she was very pleased with herself.

She laughs so much now, its amazing!

My folks are up to visit on sunday and there is an issue with one of their dogs. He is very old and poos himself sometimes, which is ok in their house, but I don't want him in my living room where Ava plays. I have said that I will put an old duvet down for them in the dining room where they will be comfy, but my m is not very pleased as she thinks they will get distressed. She has even said that she will sit with them in the dining room whilst we are all in the living room. Am I being completely out of order?

Off to do more catching up.

kittypink · 21/08/2009 21:06

dog am really pleased about SALT visit.

FFF business looks very exiting, good luck!

kittypink · 21/08/2009 21:21

newspaper 'fraid not, its such a good idea though!

kittypink · 21/08/2009 21:25

Almost forgot. Adams are selling black PVC trousers for babies!!!!!!!!!

right, I'l give someone else a chance now before I take up a whole page talking to myself!!!!

LenniAgain · 21/08/2009 21:27

to Kitty

PatTheHammer · 21/08/2009 21:47

Kitty- You are kidding about the Adams thing right? Thats almost as bad as those godawful dog outfits on sale. although.....pvc is fully wipeable, hmmmmmmmm, maybe if they did a nice gingham or cath Kidston design.....
Slimbridge is one of the widlife and wetlands reserves, it is mainly birds like swans, ducks, geese and flamingos but they also have toads, otters, beavers, water voles and a tropical house. They have a great play area for little ones 'Welly boot land' with little streams and stuff. It is fab for kids and yeah FLF, we are members too! It is only £50 for joint adults for the year and as it is £7 a time anyway it makes sense to join as you only have to go as a couple 4 times to make money back. Well I have been 3 times since easter already!
Difficult one about the dogs, do your folks not have anyone to leave them with?? Not really a family visit if your mum is sat in the dining room

Yes, ray, meant to say lovely bridesmaid dresses! They are pricey things. Mine were gorgeous but I had to have them (about £250 EACH!!!) My sister still wears the bodice part of hers for special occasions! Then you have to kit them out with jewellery, tiaras, shoes etc...........make-up, hair, nails......its never ending. BTW, I got my bridesmaids tiaras and hair accessories from a wedding shop in Henfield (which you will know where that is!) they were gorgeous and got my tiara there too!

Dog- sounds so encouraging about the SALT visit. Arlo sounds so lovely, I really want to meet him, such a charming young chap! Hope you are enjoying your night out!

Lenni- Your description of chewed clothes/hair and being covered in saliva is hilarious.....little truths they never tell you about babywearing eh . half term for me this year is a week and a half (woo-hoo) and starts on the 22nd October. think I am busy at the weekends but week days should be good.

News- can't help with the clothes, hope you get some. What a fab idea!!! Hope your girls are feeling better for the weekend.

Did not go swimming, friend cancelled as it is her hen do tomorrow, don't blame her really!

fourlittlefeet · 21/08/2009 21:55

thanks kitty. black PVC trousers .

I don't think you are being unreasonable re the dog situation (but I really am not a big dog fan anyway as I was born in a country where rabid dogs were the norm so am pretty scared of them).

kittypink · 21/08/2009 21:56

afraid I'm not kidding, weird huh? Wipe clean is true though.

I was totally lucky with bridesmaid dresses. I had no idea what I wanted, then One of my bridesmaids saw some gun metal silver 50's prom dress style ones with netting underskirts in ASDA for less than £30 each. We altered them a bit and the girls looked fab!

PatTheHammer · 21/08/2009 21:56

Oh, welcome back to HKZ, glad you had a good break although how crappy about your boiler! Hope it can be sorted soon, is all their stuff ruined? had you not just decorated? Still, thankful for insurance.

And welcome back MissJ from the big smoke, glad Nye had a fab time charming everyone and a good break for you too. A few months????? I thought you wanted to get straight on the case????.

Lenni-Your post about crawling DS sounds soooooooooooo familiar. Is it me or are boys so much worse than girls. DD has resigned herself to the toys and games thing but DS seems to have a deathwish involving sockets/wires/the oven/doors/the stairs and the list is endless. He pulls up on everything and is constantly falling over, banging his head and generally being a right PITA! I want my cuddly baby back, not this adventurer who seems on a complete mission to self-destruct, he is wearing me out!

Hey Tink, Elkie, Gumps (still love that!) and everyone alse!

kittypink · 21/08/2009 21:57

lennie

newspaperdelivery · 21/08/2009 22:09

Ok I'm a bit and a bit and a bit but mostly just [tired emoticon].

And I don't dare say why as I am not trusting the site as much as I used. Don't want to be fueling the next DM rant about modern motherhood.

ANyway, give me a hug and pass me a tissue and some chocolate.

DD1 was at paed - has had bloods but her was very reassuring. So thats good. ANd its all that matters.

Kitty - just saw your mini AIBU post, and NO! You are not being unreasonable.
My mum's dog had periods all over the shop so she put a nappy on her. A pampers not an Itti!

kittypink · 21/08/2009 22:16

newspaper

Its so crap that you don't feel able to talk.

I hope what ever the problem is, it is something that can be easily sorted.

Thank you for reassuring me about dogs.

Gumps · 21/08/2009 22:36

Kitty my friends put a pair of pants on hers when in season. Maybe a middle ground for during the day and then shut it in at night?
News rubbish you can't talk as completely defeats the point of MN. Were you quoted from old or new nickname? Do you feel like you are being watched? No green t shirt here. Have turqouisey trousers but baby sizes which is no good? Prob going into town tomorrow so will look out for you as great charity shops.
Soooooo tired here. DH pretty much been away all week and not back until Sunday. S waking at ridiculous o'clock ready to play. Had a great day though at the park and then a party. Was for a 2 yo but had champagne, my kinda party! Funnily enough I was quite chirpy bathing the 2 monkeys on my own!
S already woken 3 times. Think its teeth and think I'm in for a long one so off to bed.

furrymonster · 21/08/2009 22:43

OK getting totally freaked out by all this DM stuff hence name change. Not that I think I'm interesting enough for anything to get printed, but still.

gumps champagne party sounds good! I hope you manage to get some sleep.

furrymonster · 21/08/2009 22:44

dog nappy/pants sounds like a good plan!

newspaperdelivery · 21/08/2009 22:53

I just don't ever want to be qouted ever again. I'm a total nobody, but not to myself so feel really invaded. Gits. It's been a tough year, and this place had been a real safe house for me.
Actually here is probably the only place that knows how hard it's been for us.
