mcchesers · 28/08/2009 19:22

thanks ladies! I'm pretty shocked myself. It was one of those times before I bought BC and thought..well just the once won't hurt.

Rumple - yes I am bricking it as far as health insurance goes. DH has a pretty good policy, and it's pays 100% for maternity visits. So now I have to go to all the local hospitals that are in our network and see how much they charge vs how much my insurance pays. It's all itemsed down to the room costs, epidural. Out of pocket costs can be from 600 USD to 25k USD if there are complications that involve NICU. So just trying to circumvent any financial nightmare.

Pigley - Good luck with your TTC!

TJuice · 28/08/2009 20:24

hey everyone, its been aaaaaaaaaaages!
i do lurk occasionally but had to really wean myself off just to get work done (plus all the other blog-related stuff that i am addicted to!) I do tune in now and again to see how you guys are doing.

congrats mcchesers!
and congrats M2L&A

and good luck with everyone else TTC. Sorry to hear about your mc, libra.
I am soooooo not there yet but maybe next year. Financially it would be better for us to wait and I'm actually not feeling broody at all yet. I only want two kids and for some reason i always thought 3 years would be a nice gap. but what that is based on, i really don't know. On the other hand, i am 34 now so can't wait for long.

Elodie is a proper toddler now and has been walking for about six weeks. She actually ran away from me today as I was putting stuff in the bike. She tripped on the cobbled pavement though and fell over. Luckily she had her helmet on, but anyway, she just rolled onto her back and stared at the sky and giggled. Quite odd.

She is such a laugh but also very demanding and does tantrum-ish things like throwing herself on the floor and arching. I thought i had a bit more time before that stuff began! But her sense of humour is fabulous - I love it.
She isn't saying many recognisable words but I think she is trying to speak Danish (she says "hej" and "jakke" (hello and jacket?). I really don't want her to use the danish version of mummy because it sounds like "mower" and i think its awful.

Anyway, have been a bit lame at posting to FB but here is a few on my flickr www.flickr.com/photos/juicifer/

Anyway, hi to pudding, rumpel, piggly, SK, mini and minnie, disney and libras. And everyone else!

bebejones · 28/08/2009 20:48

Mcchesers - congrats!!! Hope you manage to sort out all the insurance stuff and can just enjoy it all!

TJuice - Welcome back!!! Glad things are going ok. E does sound very cute!

Not alot to report on here! P had Hib & MenC jabs on weds and has been proper hot and grumpy since! Asked GP about the 'poo situation' and she said LO's can develop a sort of dairy intolerence post viral. We are having to cut out all dairy apart from formula & yoghurts (friendly gut helping bacteria) and only use milk/butter when cooking. She said to give it a month or two and see if things improve. We shall see, I am not convinced!

Have had a very busy week of cooking! Made my Spiced Apple Chutney, (took a whole day) it is now 'maturing' ready for Christmas....I really 60 before my time, maybe I should join the WI!! Made choc brownies today, very bad for diet but DH needed cheering up! I had to buy a new toaster today after accidentaly melting Phoebe's toothbrush in the old one yesterday, still don't know how it got in there! P has worked out how to take her sleeping bag off, and is currently shouting as it is probably in a heap on the floor!! Best go sort her out!!

sweetkitty · 28/08/2009 21:53

hello ladies

Well I thought I would let Mcchesers announce firs that there is going to be another miniMcchesers in April, well in May hopefully there is going to be another little kitty, yes me again, yes after moaning and whinging for the whole of my last pregnancy and swearing it was my last ever, we have gone and done it again, completely planned, had to cut down the BFing to get periods back, had chemical pregnancy beginning of month and got BFP yesterday, I know it is very early days and a lot can go wrong, also like Mcchesers, please say nothing on FB I don't want anyone knowing until I am at least 12 weeks, only then will I be able to bat off the "nutter" "not got a telly" "trying for a boy" "your hubby wants a boy then" etc

bebe - am loving the toothbrush pics and well done of the chutney I think I am great making a chocolate cake today

Tjuice - how lovely to see you Elodie sounds gorgeous as always, am trying to work on DP to call DB4 Elodie but he's not keen I love it

mcchesers - congratulations my dear, wow the health insurance sounds like a nightmare, I think you should think about an extended hol to Scotland just before your due date, I know someone who did that she was living in Ireland, due twins, didn't fancy the healthcare system so came back had her twins at (whats that big one in Glasgow called Queen Mothers???) had the twins then flew back to Ireland when they were 2 weeks old

pigley - on your lovely day

ponto - forget your Mum's comments you are doing fantastic job I so miss feeding Bethany am you are still feeding, a MW told me once that anything over 6 months is for the Mothers benefit only idiot no wonder BFing rates are so low, don't think she actually approved of BFing.

I'm having a bit of a time with Bethany right now, she is such a madam, she hates being carried about, so in the morning we have to go to school, wait for the bell, so I carry her in it's like having a screaming eel, she hates being in her pram unless is is moving fast, rocking no good, so she will arch her back and scream in it too, she won't walk with your hands as she is so fast at crawling and can climb so has no need to walk, she just wants to crawl about all day, oh she is a madam.

cass66 · 28/08/2009 22:07

hey guys, congrats to those who are preg and good luck to those trying.... I am soooo glad not to be thinking about going there again. three is plenty, I am 38 and feel my family is complete now. I'm losing the weight, slowly, and I'd forgotten how hard the 1-2yrs (and 3yrs) are.

Ed is lovely but hard work, he's into everything, and screams when he doesn't get his own way. He's going to be VERY grumpy when his sisters go back to school...

I'e been out running a bit, but I'm getting plantar fasciitis (pain in my heel), which is a pain (literally). I'm aiming to run a couple of 10k races in sept/oct, but need to up my distance as I'm only doing 6k at present. mapmyrun.com is great for checking distances!!

My tomatoes are doing well, courgettes less so. I'e never had much sucess with courgettes, any tips for next year??? Cass

NotanOtter · 28/08/2009 22:08

wow sk and mccheesers congratulations i am so pleased for you both

libra so sorry about your news x

everyone else 'hello' n is rubbish next to all these babies no walking or talking but can climb up and down the stairs and very very good at eating

mcchesers · 28/08/2009 22:24

SK- yay for a little kitty! I'm glad I don't have to moan alone. We can have our SPD, MS, ec adventures together.

Tjuice- great to hear from you Elodie is just beautiful!!

Pigley- forgot to tell you. If I am on FB, Aidan will moan at me until he can see the vids of Abigail and then he smiles.

Sorry for the soapbox. I'm just really irritated with the US bashing of the NHS and all this townhall nonsense. There is no way we'd ever have anything like the NHS here. The best we can hope for is reform..the insurance companies are robbing us blind. If I could afford to move over to Glasgow for the last trimester...I sure would..in a heartbeat.

sweetkitty · 28/08/2009 22:48

mcchesers - pity my extension won't be finished by then or well even started come to think about it you could have stayed here, Aidan and B could have played together whilst we vegged on the sofa eating chocolate and of course you could hide from the MIL

minipinkscottish · 29/08/2009 10:23

WOW!!! Mega congratulations to mcchesers and sk xxxxxx very look after yourselfs and enjoy xxxxx

thepuddingchef · 29/08/2009 10:40

wow another bfp! Well done Sweetkitty......it's all very exciting!
I would so love another, but dh is very against it........
I'm going back to college in sept to do an access course, no no time at the minute anyway!
Megan is doing very well, she is soooooo much harder than ds.....must be female thing. The tantrums are funny, she puts her head in her hands on the floor and has this really fake cry....can't help but laugh! Shes running around, climbing, and getting into all sorts of trouble. The cheeky little smile makes up for it all though.
Hope all is well with everyone.

bebejones · 29/08/2009 10:50

Had to just pop in to say Congrats to SK!!!!

disneystar1 · 29/08/2009 12:53

pigleychez · 29/08/2009 13:17

Huge Huge Congratulations to Mchesers and SK.

Disney- Hope you had a nice holiday and left me some sunny weather for a few weeks time!!

Mchesers- Glad Abigail can be of service!
Ill try and do a personalised one just for Aiden!

Hope you find a nice (reasonably priced!) hospital.

Cass- Well done you on the running! I really should do some exercise but im too lazy

Bebe- Send some brownies this way The chutney sounds fab. I found the most amazing Farm shop yesterday selling all sorts of home made Goodies. I could buy half the shop!!

Tjuice- Good to hear from you again. Elodie sounds as lovely as ever. Love the pics

Well Abigail has been abit grizzly lately and had bursts of real pain tears. Could see a couple of white bits under the gums at the bottom front so guessed her teeth were finally on thier way! Bought some teething gel yesterday and after more pain tears just put some on her gums.. Guess what!!! One little tooth just poking through! Finally her first tooth at 13mths!!!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 29/08/2009 15:51

pigley - whoohooo on Abigail's first tooth it's so funny as she seems to advanced on everything else bless her, it's so not fair when you see the wee red gums and know they are suffering. Bethany has her 8 front teeth and cut her first molar last week, second one popping through v soon, gums are red raw.

disneystar - glad you had a good hol, look forward to seeing some pics

bebe - thanks I know I am officially insane

puddingchef - oh we have the fake tantrums and crying if madam doesn't get her way, definitely girl thing

minipink - thanks not thinking of joining you in the 6 club, 4 is my definite limit

cass - I think everyone has a limit to how many DC they want, I find because DD1 and 2 are so close in age that B might get left out, plus DP and I really wanted another and thought sod it life is too short, our life is chaos and mad already probably won't notice another one lol well doen on the running I think DP uses that website or one very similar, he's got the Glasgow half marathon next weekend then Loch Ness marathon in about 5 weeks, think it onvolves running away from the midges lol

disneystar1 · 30/08/2009 09:31

hi all having a lazy day here today im in bed with a cup of tea samuel trying to pull himself up on me and kissing me that boy has to the most loving child i have ever had

others are downstairs watching spongebob waiting for me there good kids though they dont disturb me and know i need my meds in the morning before i can get up or elsei literally cant.

will try to put pics on fb and here today got a lovely one of samuel digging in the sand with his bandana on he was so into the digging and very happy. it was a shame we had to leave, i was sad too when we drove away let alone the boys

came home to my dd ringing me telling me my sons yep both older sons were in trouble those two well the older one ive already despaired over, looks like theres no escape from prison now for him , best place as well ,a lot of these kids today well hes 21 need a short sharp shock to kick them into place the whole court system is too damn lenient, but thats a whole new thread, its sunday morning and im going to enjoy it and turn my phone off.

we spent far too much on holiday and were back to budgeting now for christmas and our florida wedding renewals now next year.

MinnieMummy · 30/08/2009 19:38

WOW I don't come on here for a few days and what's happened?!! Not one but TWO BFPs - amazing!! Congrats to both SK and Mcchesers, very very exciting news!! Watching this space for Pigley next... or will someone else get in there first?!

My two are playing really nicely together now, they make each other laugh and copy each other etc. so I think I agree with SK that a small gap is good.

What's your due date Mcchesers?

Rumpel · 30/08/2009 20:07

HUGE congrats SK - I ams o paranoid now incase I comment on Fb on either of your pgs now!

Glad you had a good time DISNEY.

PIGLEY - well done on As first tooth.

NAO - we were all wondering how you were - good to hear from you.

Well now Calvin is better DD has been really poorly the last few days. Veruy high temp, cough, fever etc etc. I awoke this am feeling rough too - so run down due to lack of sleep for the past ages. Had an incredibly lazy day (with lots of cake) and feel all the better for it.

Calvin can get up and down the stairs now ( with me behind) and is whizzing about - almost ready for walking alone but not quite. He is eating like a horse now after his illness so no doubt will be another 2cms taller and 1 size bigger feet by next week. he is in 41/2G shoes at the mo'.

Am feeling a touch broddy with all you lots with BFP and TTC but am so fat and unhealthy at the mo' not to mention KNACKERED!!!!! it is just one virus after another at the mo'

Not long till our hols though - hurrah!!!

nite all squishy hugs all round.xxx

Rumpel · 30/08/2009 20:08

Broddy? Broody..........

disneystar1 · 30/08/2009 20:31

rumpel 41/2g shoes my gosh samuel isnt even a 2 yet

sweetkitty · 30/08/2009 22:55

My baby walked today didn't see it coming at all, she has been cruising round the furniture for ages but will not let you walk with her doing the two hands thing. Tonight we were all sitting watching TV and a song was on and she was doing her dancing then she just took 6 steps on her own, DP and I were like did she just walk? O course she spent the next 2 hours doing the step step step, wobble, fall routine, when I put her to bed her hair was soaking from sweat, her cheeks bright red and her knees all red from falling, hard work this walking business.

Other than that we spent most of the day looking for a car for DP, he has a 70 mile round trip to work everyday, he used to get a bus but they are cancelling it so he has no way of getting to work, it's more money of course but I think it's got ot the stage we need another car. Of course, all being well, we will need a mini bus new 7 seater car next year.

Thanks for all your best wishes still in shock all I am doing is counting down the days until 12 week, I am terrified of anything going wrong.

Rumpel - you are so having a time of it right now, hope you are all on the mend soon and the lurgy doesn't come calling on your door for a long while.

Poledra · 30/08/2009 23:27

Ahh, Rumpel, you have all my sympathy, we spent ages in that 'one virus after another' thing. Since the holiday we seem to have been clear - the bad health goblin has moved on, I hope.

Massive congratulations, SK and mcchesers - a kitten and a minicheddar (coz I always read your name as mccheesers ). I am a teensy bit , but only coz I want another baby, rather than another child, IYSWIM.

Disney, glad you had a good hol.

Nice to see the updates from you folks who have a real life, thepuddingchef, cass66 et al.

O is still not walking, though DH reckons she is close - she does the cruising round the furniture bit, and she can now get up to standing in the middle of the room without using anything to help her. And doesn't she look pleased with herself when she does! I suppose it helps that the other two give her a big cheer and round of applause every time she does it.

bebejones, thanks for mentioning P's jabs - I had completely forgotten that I had to cancel O's when she was ill before the hols, and hadn't made a new appt, so thanks for the reminder. Hope P got over her grumpiness quickly.

Having an at-home Bank Holiday - did the school shopping on Fri, got the girls' hair cut on Sat, I think we're all prepared for Thursday!

disneystar1 · 31/08/2009 10:09

sk we have a 7 seater its fab....and try not to worry easier said than done though,
well done to B on the walking clever girl eh!!!!

rumpel hope all nasty things clear up soon your poor family right now,

samuel not cruising here he cant pull himself up but we stood him up at a bouncy castle on hol he stoof for approx 3 secs real wobbly though, he can get on his knees now though

anyone elses bubba eat and eat and eat, samuels gone to having 6 bottles a day again, he signs me milk and its just formula he wants, also hes become rather fussy if he sees toast and im offering yoghurt he signs me NO and points to toast
he can also use his pincer grip now so he picks up everything even pulls the rug up to have a look, no hiding anything now.

bebejones · 31/08/2009 11:10

Morning ladies!! Congrats SK to B on the walking!! Disney glad you had a nice holiday!

Just a quickie, am supposed to be drying my hair! P can now stand up very well not holding on, if she falls over walking she just powers up again...she has stronger legs than me!!! I have lost just over half a stone!! Only another stone (preferably 1.5 stone) to go before Christmas! Promised myself that I would weigh less when I get PG with #2 than I did with P!! We are off out this afternoon to the Butterfly house at Berkeley castle! Its the agricultural show there today as well so if the weather is ok (looking unlikely) we may stop off there too! Really must go dry my hair & get properly dressed! Hope everyone has a good day!

Poledra · 31/08/2009 11:15

SK, for some reason your post didn't show up for me last night - well done B on walking! We got a crew bus Ford Galaxy when we knew O was on the way. It's fine, doesn't satisfy my petrol head desires but it does what we need it to do. Make sure you get parking sensors front and back though, that has made my life a lot easier

disneystar1 · 31/08/2009 14:01

poledra we got a kia sedona 2.9 TD it did 600 miles last week on £70 good value that, parking sensors dont need them i can only drive 7.5 tonne but my dh drives 42 tonnes never used parking sensors

bebe well done you girl i lost a stone pre hol and have put 4lb back on
