Thank you all for the good wishes for DH's nan. Thankfully having the pacemaker fitted has worked wonders for her! She has continued to make great progress and should be coming out today

Rumpel- Your photos on FB look fab.I bet the kids enjoyed themselves. Loving Calvins pink trousers
Hope your mums ok.

Ponto- good to hear from you.
Sorry to hear that Byrony didnt like seeing Santa. Abigail was ok with him and gave him a little wave when we saw him at her christmas party. I think he can be abit scary with that big beard covering his face.

Abigail can be funny at nappy times too sometimes.. Its most annoying!

Abigail finally is getting more teeth. We have number 3 just poking through now. Its a top front one so looks pretty cute.
Was up at 2am with her last night as I think the teeth were annoying her. I was taking pics of the snow at 2am as it was already pretty thick then. By morning we ended up with 4 inches.
Abigail and I went out for a little play but she wasnt too keen on touching it.

hope everyone else is well and ready/loking forward for xmas.

Home alone home alone [grin[ woo hoo!!!!!

I do love my kids and my DH honest but it is soooooo amazingly nice to be on my own for 1 whole night! Of course my exciting life consists of defrosting the freezer, 10 tonnes of washing/drying, cleaning (does it ever end?).

Poor Amber has missed both Xmas parties (1 nursery, 1 pre-school), her nativity and Santa is apparently touring the estate on a float tonight so she'll miss that too. I just hope the sleep over at Granny and Papas and hot chocolate and cake at Nardinis tomorrow makes up for it .

Coughing so badly here I keep leaking wee sorry TMI I thought my pelvic floor was alright ( I do my exercises) but obviously not Altogether now squeeze

I remember when I had Amber and a friend used to babysit now and again and she always used to remark on how A was so good when having her nappy changed. I was ? Didn't know what she meant - I do now! Calvin is a wee beggar too - wriggles and shuffuffles about.

PONTO - if it makes you feel any better I find it hard being a Mummy too. My 2 do my head right in at times and I am quite a short-tempered control freak , person. I do shout at them but luckily I know if I am going to freak and then I put them in another room or take myself off to another room to calm down as I know I am quite capable of taking my temper out on them. I think it is much healthier to shout and let things out than keep it all stuffed up inside.

Children need to learn the boundaries and about emotions after all - we are only human so I choose to forgive myself and move on.

My Dad used to take a leather belt to my Bro and I and my Mum went mental with a pair of fluffy pink slippers once! Give yourself a break woman and in the meantime here is a big hug ((((( )))))xxxxx.

Calvin has his Xmas aprty yesterday and didn't like Santa either - he cried too. TBH I am not at all surprised as he is soft as poo He'll need to toughen up before he goes to school with his bright orange hair - I'm hoping he remains huge so that bullies are deterred by his size .

Must go sip some vino and jwrap pressies, make up freezer food etc etc.

A woman's work is never done -sigh.

ponto · 22/12/2009 23:51

Rumpel, thanks for lovely post, it does help to know other mums feel the same way sometimes.

Should really not be on MN now, still have loads to do for Christmas - all kids' presents need wrapping, I've not yet posted any Christmas cards and I need to make a shopping list - doing grocery shop tomorrow. In my defence, I'm not finishing work until tomorrow lunchtime.

Apparently Bryony loved sledging with her big sisters yesterday, I had to work though . May take her out to skid on the ice tomorrow if I get a chance!

Hope everyone else's Christmas preparations are going smoothly and you all have a great time!

MinnieMummy · 23/12/2009 21:12

Hello and Merry Christmas to one and all, sorry it's been so long but what with a bit of holiday, colds and most of all being off with work-related stress I've not been on here much... the latter very tedious, got my 'if you get redundancy we'll give you £X' letter today which was almost half the amount I had thought, rubbish!! Still, I might get redeployment and if not then they way they've treated me I'm quite happy to go, actually. Will go to the union and try and stir things up a bit all the same, for what it's worth!!

Ponto Poppy drives me mad much of the time, she used to be this really calming zen influence, and now she's this devil stroppy child who grunts when she wants something and absolutely screams if you say no. Grrr. She is at least finally walking, very proud of herself (she's been able to take steps for about three months or so, just hasn't been bothered to put them together!!) and ever since she's mastered it she's been trying lots more words, it's like she couldn't multi-task . She can now say her own name which is v. cute.

Where has December gone??! Can't believe it's almost Xmas already, I blinked and it went. I am 20 weeks on Christmas day!! Scan is booked for the 30th, 8.30 in the morning and they can't change it. Ah well! Haven't felt much movement here but then I do have a good coating of lard in the way .

Hope all well with you all, best get back to the wrapping which I am ignoring...

Poledra · 24/12/2009 07:26

Just sitting here waiting for DH to get dressed so we can go to Waitrose and do the shopping. Have a great Christmas, everyone - hope the babbas all enjoy it. Safe journey home Disney

PS Still got loads of wrapping to do, some cards to deliver locally and all sorts but hey, it'll all work out [fingers crossed emoticon]

Rumpel · 24/12/2009 19:17

I hopeeverything goes to plan and you all get what you asked Santa for!

I'm sat here with a poorly Sam (he has Shingles!) He just won't settle tonight his rash is so nasty bless him...

Anyway,Hope you all have a fab day tomorrow x

mcchesers · 28/12/2009 00:01

Still giggling at P's "Ahhh..prettyy"

Very nice white Christmas out here in Texas, first time since 1927. We didn't go overboard with Aidan's gifts, but my sister bought us a bunch of books, which is great! My oldest brother sent over this massive tent and tunnel system and some giant blocks that will likely have to wait until the tree comes down to be erected..and I ate..far too much.

Also..and this is mental..all of a sudden, my DS speaks!! Aidan now says that cows say "boo" tigers go "rawr" dogs say "oof oof" and sheep says "BAABAA!!"and he also signs apple, milk, more, bath, bye bye and all done. He can also knows ears, eyes, nose and mouth, teeth, and tummy. All of this in a span of 2 days..after months of nothing. It's like a switch went off.

Anyway..just saying howdy. Pregnancy is going fine. He's measuring on the big size, but of course I have to do the glucose test and they have to be sure that he's just a big baby and it's not GD or Preeclampsia.
No pressure, right?

Hugs to you all..Hope you had a happy holiday!

minipinkscottish · 28/12/2009 18:21

Just popping in to say Merry Christmas to all

Hope everyone had a wonderful time and Santa was good It is freezing and very snowy here - we've had a couplde of days of not being able to get out at all and the village was pretty cut off for a while - some days as low as -8 brrrrrrrrr!!
I am enjoying being home with the lo's though with lots of cuddles - good movies and chocolate

Anyone doing anything exciting for New Year?

pigleychez · 29/12/2009 10:52

Hello everyone!
Hope you all had a fab Xmas!

Disney- Hope you all had a fab time dispite the cold!

Minnie- I know what you mean about the strops. Abigail shocked her grandad when she threw a major on the floor kicking and screaming trantrum over xmas! They had never seen that side of her before.

Jodie- Hope poor Sam felt abit better for Xmas day.

Mchesers- Yay on Aiden talking.. There will be no stopping him now! Abigail talks non stop now- even in her sleep!!
Glad the pregnancy is going well.. Fingers crossed he's just a biggun and theres no other problems.

On pregnancies, Im being monitored more closely by the midwife at the mo as I have high blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Shes not too worried about the blood sugar, more so about the BP. I had High BP towards the end with Abigail but obviously this is much sooner.(20 weeks now)
Started getting regular headaches the past few days so think I will have to get a MW appointent again soon as this was something she told me to look out for as a sign or pre-eclampsia. Have my Scan on Jan 8th!

Minipink- Enjoy your time in with the kids

Abigail was throughly spoilt buy both sets of the grandparents... sooooo many toys its unreal! Time for a sort out I think! Had a lovely time visiting Family the past few days. Went and saw my aunty who I dont get to see very often. She has dogs and horses which Abigail loved! She even got to have a ride on a couple of horses which made her day!

Abigail spent her first night in her "big girl bed". Went off no problem but stirred about 11ish and was very unsettled for a few hours. It obviousy was abit new and different for her and she found it difficult to go back off. Eventually she went off and slept well. Still loves the bed so hoping for a better night tonight. Was kind of expecting her to be abit iffy about it, but still could of done without the night time antics.[yawn]

How is everyone seeing in the new year? Any party animals amoungst us!?
Quiet one here as we have both families coming to us for tea on News years day.

OP posts:
bebejones · 29/12/2009 13:24

Hope everyone had a good Christmas? We had a lovely time & Phoebe has been completely spoilt!

McChesers - yay on Aidan talking, they'll be no stopping him now! We can't shut Phoebe up!

Disney - fb pics look like you had a great time despite the cold!

Jodie - poor Sam with shingles, how horrid, hope he is better soon

Pigley - When I was PG with P I had high BP for most of the pregnancy. I was given a home monitor & had to do it 5 times a day for 2 weeks and fill in a chart. Is this something they could do for you to help monitor it? Think you are very brave puuting Abigail in a bed, just don't think I am even gonna chance it for a couple of months at the very least!!

Looks like a quiet new years for us too as we can't really take Phoebe out that late & everyone we know already has plans so can't come here! Will probably be in bed by half 10!

Rumpel · 29/12/2009 20:52

booking

sweetkitty · 31/12/2009 06:57

hi everyone so much to catch up on, feel like I have been away for ages, hope you all have had a lovely Christmas and can you believe it is January tomorrow ?

22 weeks here, yes it is utterly zooming past, have booked private scan for the 9th, I'm doing OK, SPD is bearable much better than last time (touch wood) basically as I have learned my lesson and turned into the worlds laziest person and only walk when necessary.

B is her usual self, she's full of snot right now and coughing loads. I, too, find her a handful, she the worst by far and I thought DD2 was fiery. DD2 I would say in the past 6 months has really calmed down now and you can reason with her whereas before she would go supernova as we called it on the tantrum front. But that has take her to 3 1/2 to calm down a bit. I am sporting a lovely bruise on my forehead where B whacked me with the top of Rosie Cookie Jar (is it even called Rosie Cookie Jar, the FP one), if I tell her NO she will go find something to whack me with or her hands will do. Her first experience of snow was very funny I think she loved the freedom of running outside. She is shoe mad, she goes into the kitchen shouting "SHOOOOOES" we bought her a pair of slippers and she loves them. Words coming thick and fast now "MUM" at the top of her voice still the favourite though. No one believes me when I tell them how fiery she is as she is so cute and dainty with the hugest blue eyes and the longest eyelashes I have seen on another human being, I think this does not bode well for the future.

Christmas was mad, have just spent two days reorganising the house to fit all the new toys in, B has taken to playing with the older twos's Go Go Hamsters the most.

Quiet new year here too.

Pigley - love the pics of Abigail's big girl bed you are so brave, DD1 was 3 before she went into one and DD2 2 1/2 (as B was having the cot) I am firmly in the camp unless they jump out keep them contained, I think DD1 would still be happy in a cot if we had allowed her to be. about the blood pressure thing.

minipink - brrr that is cold we were down about -6 here, too cold and icy to go out really

mcchesers - there will be no stopping Aidan now. remember as well there are so many women I know were told they are having big babies and out pops a 7lbs tiddler, it's not an exact science and they cannot tell, just an estimate really, try to enjoy your pregnancy

minniemummy - how did the scan go?

Disney - loved the Disney pics, Samuel looks like he had a ball

Rumpel - was lol at your wee leaking stories sorry but I am the same, my pelvic floor is one the floor, I have to make sure I go to the toilet a lot and when pregnant it is a lot, coughs are a killer. We have to sing to B to keep her still when nappy changing, she is music, singing and dancing mad, she tried to play the other ones guitars and sings along on the microphones which is very funny. And any music and she is dancing, you know the Sky menu screens the blue ones that have the annoying music well she turns the TV over to dance to it.

ponto - Bryony sounds the exact same as Bethany, complete handful, very messy and clingy, B hates me cuddling anyone else, we have full blown meltdowns here, tears the works.

Right sorry to anyone I have missed, have a lovely New Year everyone I have talked too much x

minipinkscottish · 01/01/2010 14:45

Lovely to hear from you SK

22 weeks already...where has the time gone...are you having private scan to find out sex or a 3D? I know you're not fussy what flavour you get ....I wasn't last time either but loved our private scan...just more time to gaze at bubba....enjoy

Oh almost forgot HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE XXXXXXX HOPE 2010 IS GREAT FOR EVERYONE XXXXXXXXXX

MinnieMummy · 01/01/2010 15:57

Happy New Year everyone!! And is it now FIVE of us who will be having a(nother) baby THIS YEAR!!

Eeek!

Scan went well, everything normal, I'd forgotten in my blase third pg state how much you can see and how amazing it all is. DH and I had discussed before I went (he had to look after DCs) that we might as well find out what it is... but they never asked if I wanted to know!! So I am totally in the dark (although I suspect a boy, personally). The sonographer just wiped off the gel and I didn't feel like I could say 'hang on, could you just put it back on so we can have another quick look...?'! She did do one pelvic view so perhaps it was meant to be obvious but I couldn't see anything either way.

Definitely seems to be going quicker this time.. but I know the second half is very steeply uphill!

minipinkscottish · 02/01/2010 10:59

Wow congrats MinnieMummy xxxx very of all you pg ladies but beginning to get over my constant broodiness and am enjoying new job and just loving the stage Abbie is at now...she is soooooo gorgeous and cute and cuddly and amzing .....hee hee well she is my last baby and she's spoiled and very very much loved.....I'm sure you all feel the same about your bubbas

Take care all xxxxxxxx

pigleychez · 02/01/2010 16:39

Happy new year everyone!

Minnie- Sounds odd saying we are having babies this year! The time is flying by!
Glad your scan went well

Abigail has done fab in her new bed. Each night has got better and the past few nights shes hasnt woken at all ( Keeps fingers crossed and doesnt speak too loudly!)
She has even been sleeping longer and not waking till 8 or 8.30 which is unheard of but much welcome!

Bought her loads of lovely new clothes in the sale.. so spoilt!
Finally got round to buying balls for her ball pit... been trying for months but nowhere stocked them in winter. She hasnt left it alone for days and DH has even been in there with her! Big kid that he is!

I think the baby must be having a growth spurt. Seems to be completely zapping me of energy and goodness, leaving me feeling weak and rundown

Not looking forward to Monday when DH goes back to work. Abigail has become a right Daddys girl over xmas so that should be interesting!

Isaidno · 02/01/2010 17:50

Happy New Year everyone!
Congrats Minniemummy xx
Christmas was fine here; toys everywhere, but not as bad as previous years as I told everyone not to buy loads of tat toys we didn't need.

Poppy is also a stroppy little madam, and will scream to get her own way. I think she will improve when she bothers to speak. She still only says wow-wow, sometimes mummy, sometimes other random sounds. Rest of the time is screaming!

Rumpel · 03/01/2010 20:25

Just a quickie to let you know Disney has no lap top and Samuel has his op tomorrow. Those of you on FB can keep up but we'll try and let those of you who aren't know how things go.xxx

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 03/01/2010 20:27

Happy New Year everyone.

Disney I know you have no lap top but I will be thinking of you and Samuel tomorrow and sending good vibes your way.

Stay strong.

Rumpel · 04/01/2010 09:02

Happy New Year all- let's hope this one is a goody for us all in terms of health and happiness (and wealth too ). Of course it will be a good one for all you Mummies expecting a new little bundle of joy .

Well we had a lovely relaxed Xmas day and then had 8 kids under age 5 and their parent's on hogmany . My house was immaculate until about 30 mins after they arrived.

Santa brought me some lovey Vera Wang Princess perfume and Be Delicious, Terry Pratchett's new book, a bottle of Moet (scoffed on the day) and some dreadful undies from Ann Summers - think DH is deluded or has chosen to forget that I am about 2 stone heavier with more squidgy bits than I used to have . Took them back of course .

We've all been feeling pretty poorly with this horrible cold/cough/virus thing for about a month now. Eventually went to see the GP who has put me on steroids for a while .

Hope everyone else had a great time - my Dh is back at work today and pre-school starts again tomorrow.

Kids had a ball but the ice has been dreadful here - fed up of it now. Would like to get them out on their bikes for some fresh air - Amber finally learned how to pedal whilst knicking borrowing Calvin's weesmart trike.

Anyway hope everyone is well and we'll all be thinking of Samuel and his family today.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Isaidno · 05/01/2010 20:07

Loads of snow here, had to collect the boys from school on foot with Poppy in sling as could not get the car out, and couldn't push the buggy in the snow! A 2 mile round trip in a blizzard carrying a 21 lb toddler!

Disney has been posting lots of pics of Sam on facebook, big scar, thinks he's stable, he's on oxygen not ventilator.

Poppy has got chickenpox - noticed at her bath this evening. The boys have both had it, she must have caught it from our neighbour's children when we saw them over the holidays. She seems fine at the moment though; hope the bf will help her immune system.

No school tomorrow because of the snow so I'm off to have a hot bath while drinking a glass of wine. Then maybe a 2nd glass in my cosy jim jams!

bebejones · 08/01/2010 09:04

Lots of snow & sheets of ice here! DH not been into work since Tuesday as his dad can't get off his farm! Our road is like an ice rink! Done a tesco order for today, not sure if it will get here! Have been having lots of fun with P in the snow though & she has been enjoying kicking it all up in the air and stomping in it! Anyone else reckon there will be a baby boom in Sept/Oct due to no one being able to get out!!

P is amaing me every day with her speech, she is like a little parrot! Makes me a little though that she is a toddler & not a baby really anymore!
