Actually 2 of my great grandparents had 12 children each. My mom's parents where both from HUGE families.

Wow that Nieman Marcus recipe has been online since the very beginning of the internet! I did make it once as a student, was ok but I don't like things over-chocolatey myself.

Holy cow TS, must be driving you mad! I am off to the supermarket tonight anyway so will get a test and/or tampax (I get fed up of the Mooncup after a couple of days.) BTW you realise the girls will now be an unstoppable team working to make you lose your hair.

I have already made little chocolate cakes and peach drop scones today. So it's frozen pies and potato waffles for tea.

TwilightSurfer · 04/08/2009 16:27

LOL! Buckets I did have a bit of panic moment Friday night but pushed the thoughts out as pure nonsense. I've got to quick worrying every blasted month. [crazy lady smiley]

The girls will be hell on wheels...literally. They both ride together in the Barbie Jeep. Reese pushes dd1 in the babydoll stroller all over the house. AND NOW Reese is climbing on dd1's trike so she can be like her sister. It all puts a HUGE smile on my face.

AND reminds me, I'm going to internet shop for a smaller trike for Reese for her BDAY!!!

Sazzles all your travels made me think SO I just emailed Rusty to see if he has a sweet beach deal starting Sunday. DD1 is 'suppose' to start school on Tuesday but only for the day...not the whole week. Very wasted crap imo. If she misses it I WON'T WORRY IF ON THE BEACH!!

If anyone wanted to make a little staycation out of the proposed meetup (Bristol Zoo 19th), the amazingly refurbished Youth Hostel does family rooms for less than £60 a night b&b, you can even ask for a cot if travelling by train. It's 20mins walk from Temple Meads and there is an open-topped tourist bus from the station to the zoo...

Did I mention Kurt got a long-awaited top tooth for his birthday?

TwilightSurfer · 04/08/2009 18:18

YAY Kurt!!! Chomp away!!

Well, I have kicked a suitable amount of nursery arse. They were really good actually, the manager started investigating this morning after I phoned to say I wanted to come in for a chat, and by the time I got there she was very apologetic and mortified. She assured me that all the staff were very shamefaced and resolved not to miss such things again. Seems like communication is a bit of an issue among the baby room staff so I asked her to just make sure they are all talking to each other about the necessary stuff.

So am glad about that; I'll keep an eye on things obviously, but overall I've been really happy with them up till now and Joe is settled there, so I'd rather not change unless we have to.

Am so tired, I managed to lose two dirty nappies in town That's two of my Teddies gone then. No idea what happened to them, I just lost track of the bag somewhere.

Joe has had porridge for tea I just get so short of time and inspiration, it's impossible to cook while he's awake now as he's crawling about all over the place and I am always too knackered to plan ahead. Must do better when we come back from holiday. It doesn't help that he will not countenance pasta and throws every scrap on the floor in disgust, which pisses me off more than it rationally should. I mean, who hates pasta? It's the basis for so many tasty, easy, healthy, quick meals!

Someone pass me the wine.

nice work Cyteen. i hope the nursery shines for you from this day forward.

don't feel bad about the food. i'm home all day and little desire to cook. reese just had left over couscous for lunch. late lunch mind you because she napped for 2.5 HOURS.

Do you give Joe the pasta plain? Kurt will eat anything pesto flavoured.

TwilightSurfer · 04/08/2009 19:05

both mine will eat pasta covered in parmesan

cyteen · 04/08/2009 19:22

Pesto, home made tomato sauce, tuna, veg, cheese, it all meets with the same utter contempt.

It guts me tbh which is really stupid, but my most basic, trusted standby meal is pasta and homemade tomato sauce, with pasta pesto a pretty close runner-up. I make a bloody great tomato sauce and it's always my turn-to dish in a crisis, so the fact that Joe shuns it has rocked my very foundations. lol.

Making curry tonight, now that I've cleared all the porridge off the floor. Hopefully next door will stop twatting about with his endless afterhours DIY project and fuck off home before his sawing wakes my baby.

Sorry, can you tell I'm tired?

Miamla · 04/08/2009 19:49

cyteen sounds like you need a real glass of wine! well done on sorting out the nursery. T doesn't like pasta either unless its blitzed in the food processor first, then he'll eat it if its in tiny bits

oopsacoconut · 04/08/2009 20:09

How have I got a cold between lunch and now???? Feeling crappy sniffing, runny nose and stonking sinus headache. Thank you DD.

Early to bed for me as I am meeting my mum at Slimbridge tomorrow to see ducks.

Will try and catch u and report back but most likely to go to bed!

hotterpotter · 04/08/2009 20:31

Poor oops, hope it's short-lived

Cyteen at pasta-refusal. I'm not surprised it hurts, think my DS would starve if he didn't like pasta. He was very funny at tea time today - we had sausage, mash, peas and runner beans. He was picking up the bits of sausage and ramming them in, then picking up the beans, looking at them, and then dropping them on the floor! Managed to get him to eat them once the sausage was gone thankfully.

Everyone, helloooo Hope it's dried out a bit where you are. 'Tis a beautiful evening here now it's too late to appreciate it . Sadly no time to chat as need to do a big tesco shop tonight in anticipation of a little boy's birthday party on Saturday Oh btw thanks for the recommendation Sazzles, the trike came yesterday and it's perfect

Happy Birthday Edward

poppysocks · 04/08/2009 20:47

cyteen - you have my sympathy. DD1 was exactly the same. Pasta was just a total no go for ages. She's pretty good with it now, but still isn't convinced, which I'm very disappointed by. Having slightly more luck with DD2. That doesn't mean that any less ends up on the floor, but more than she just rejects everything else as much.

Yay for Kurt's top tooth Buckets! DD1 got both of her top front teeth on her first birthday too.

Loved the image of your girls playing together TS. Mine are now sharing their bedroom brilliantly and playing together all the time. It is so wonderful. Really makes it all worthwhile. Did have a serious this morning when I was woken to a series of bangs punctuated by gales of giggles from them both. Turned out it was DD2 throwing her cuddly toys from her cot in DD1's direction one by one. Clearly hilarious.

poppysocks · 04/08/2009 20:48

Oh goodness I forgot . Happy Birthday miniVG!

Shopping nearly done, will finish off tomorrow night, but no discount codes

Am also dithering about birthday cake, DD wants me to make a rocket cake, but that might be a bit tricky. All the party plates, cups and napkins have pirates on (as they were cheap in Wilkos ) so a pirate cake would probably be much easier and also match better. Think I have answered my own question there, just need to convince DD now!

Bedtime now as work in the morning but only a 2-day week this week, hurrah

Night-night everyone

dizzydixies · 04/08/2009 23:33

ah been obsessing over hotel choices tonight so now off to bed with dh who has manflu a sniffle

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2009 03:00

hmm...no more birthdays to celebrate until the 8th.

i am THRILLED to announce dd1 was assigned THE TEACHER we wanted (and she needs). i was overjoyed. sadly, her best friend and carpool buddy did not get the same teacher. her mother was livid. dd1's friend's teacher is young and has a mean presence. oh how the powers that be were looking after me and dd. thank you thank you thank you

to celebrate we took the whole family (the four of us) to our favorite little italian restaurant where we laugh and giggled and had a great time eating spagetti (with meat sauce) and pizza plus lots and lots of bread and little bit of salad. woof or rather oink oink oink YUM!!

Poppy thanks for sharing about your girls. Mine are bonding like a dream at the moment. This will be night TWO with both in the one room. Bedtime went perfectly. When I stepped out I overheard dd1 telling Reese, "if it storms don't worry i'll get your pacey while mom gets your bottle. you'll really only need your bottle to get back to sleep. don't worry." How charming is that!!!

Sazzles, Rusty is waiting to hear back from "his source". I'll know something later today. DH has already veto'd the trip but maybe if the price is really sweet he'll reconsider. He has made a request that we go back in September/October-ish if we can afford it. I've got two cottages flagged. Both are next to the Blue Parrot so we shouldn't have to drive the entire time we're there. LOVELY!!!

HP your going to make me feel like a slacker all this party detail stuff you have going on. I've no cake, no presents, no plan. 13 days to go...

Oops dear I hope you are feeling better. Chicken soup for you Careful it's hot.

Where is Steaky? You don't think the ILs took her computer access do you? Can anyone text her???

LWFH how's the baby? Is he/she kicking?? Please share.

Dizzy you are the booking queen.

NIGHT

Dizzy maybe we could be of assistance?! Personally I'm quite a big fan of tripadvisor for hotel reviews - fingers crossed not had a bad one yet.

Cyteen glad you got the nursery sorted.

Miamla the boys are sounding even more alike than ever. DS also prefers pasta blitzed. He likes the taste but really objects if it's still whole and lumpy. That said got a whole bowl of pasta and chicken and cheesy sauce into him yesterday (un-blitzed) but it took a very long time and much effort of distracting him on my part - I hope he gets the hang of it soon. DH has taught him to go ahhh after every sip of water - this was quite amusing to start with but is getting a bit irritating now!

5.46 wake up this morning so a little improvement. MIL arriving at 4pm so we are off to the airport to meet her - hoping that DS will walk towards her but given that he rarely walks towards me I think this is a little unlikely!
