Nez - we don't do a camel - we call him Papa, 'they sent a papa but he was too grumpy'!

cyteen · 04/08/2009 10:14

happy BIRTHDAY edward AND lewis !!!

I won't even go into the farce that has been this morning; suffice it to say that it's lucky DS is as irresistably cute and loveable as he is, because being woken up at 5am is NOT WELCOME

I have never needed a holiday so badly.

Thankfully he's asleep (again), no doubt this will turn out to be the long nap he should have had at 8am (that turned out to be a mere 30 minutes) and I will be late for informal meeting to bollock discuss things with the nursery.

dizzydixies · 04/08/2009 10:54

Happy Birthday MiniVG!!! Hope that the french are treating you like a prince on your special day

sazz sorry to hear about your night, hope your swim is ok and the windows go in without incident

bad night here too which ended up with Dylan in my bed with DH and me giving up and going through to Sazzle's spare bed still in Dylans room. She's now back asleep, DH & I are like death warmed up, he's to go to work in an hour and its fecking raining

DD2 supposed to be at nursery but she's not for going and frankly I don't blame her, why would she when we're all hanging about here

cyteen know what you mean about the holiday but no chance of getting one here at the minute lets hope a few carefully chosen day trips next week will make up for it

make sure you come away from the nursery happy and reassured that they're going to up their game, ready and willing with the tools if you need me

Happy birthday Edward & Lewis

I never did get my perfect age gap - always wanted one at school full time so I could really do all the first time mum baby stuff again. It's no fun lugging babies and toddlers everywhere IMO. (And if my AF get a move on today there is a slim chance I could have another 20m gap...yippee!)

Kurt's door didn't quite knock the yodelling on the head (had to go shush him a couple of times between 12 and 2) but I did get a lie in til 7am which is always a bonus.

He has just emptied his chest of drawers all over the floor, serves me right for ignoring him.

AnnVan · 04/08/2009 11:35

Hello everyone.

Oops lol at the grumpy papa

Not too bad here, Seb slept through 10-7.30 then down again till 10, so I got to catch up on some sleep. he's now standing against the couch being cute at me On the negative side, he already knows how to throw a prime strop if he doesn't get what he wants. Looks like we're having to be firm and strict far earlier than we thought.

cyteen give them hell, they deserve it
SIL is continuing to be idiotic, she has agreed to let her cheating ex store his car in her garage for two weeks. We're all very suspicious about why he needs that. Suspect he's told some girl he's on holiday for two weeks, and doesn't want her to see the car in the drive. That's guesswork though. DP is saying SIL is now not welcome round here until she sorts herself out. I understand his reasoning, but I think this may be a little harsh. He's not inviting her to his birthday, or Sebs. But he's always been very opposed to cheating, and he thinks that her behaviour is condoning it, and that if he doesn't take a stand against it then he's indirectly condoning it as well. So when she finds out about the non-welcome status, I'm pretty sure all hell will break loose.

And Seb just fell over and hit head on the coffee table.

It's tricky isn't it Ann. My sis has a friend with a physically abusive DH. You don't want to alienate someone who already has rockbottom self-confidence but as you say, it's all about denial and enabling isn't it. My sis managed to just avoid anything involving the DH for a while but once their kids started at the same school, she had to put her foot down as the lady was trying to get DNiece and DNephew to 'look after' her somewhat-screwed-up kids at school.

DH's car is poorly so he's got mine today. Have not seen hide nor hair of garage man who was supposed to be coming to collect it so that'll be at least 2 days sans voiture.

OMG my adjoining neighbours are finally doing something with their house!!! It's been empty long before the 3y we've lived here, the owners live opposite and I don't think it's been cleared out since the grandparents died. It drives everyone in the street mad because it was once a beautiful house (til some idiot replaced the windows with too-small ones) and it's just been rotting while they sat in denial, thinking they were doing it up. Looks like a daughter-in-law or someone has set her sights on it, fingers crossed...

Miamla · 04/08/2009 14:08

not sure how true this is but thought the recipe looked good!

A little background:

N e i m a n - M a r c u s, if you don't know already, is a very expensive boutique
shop (they sell a typical $8.00 T-shirt for $50.00)

My daughter and I had just finished lunch at a N e i m a n - M a r c u s Cafe in
Dallas , USA . Because both of us are such biscuit lovers, we decided to
try the 'N e i m a n - M a r c u s cookie'. It was so excellent that I asked if they
would give me the recipe. The waitress said with a small frown, 'I'm
afraid not, but you can buy the recipe.'

I asked how much, and she responded; 'Only two fifty - it's a great
deal'

I agreed to that, and told her to add it to my bill.

Thirty days later, I got my Visa statement, and the N e i m a n - M a r c u s charge
was $285. I looked at it again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95
for two sandwiches and about $20 for a scarf. At the bottom of the
statement, it said, 'Cookie Recipe - $250.00'. That was outrageous!

I called N e i m a n's Accounting Department and told them the waitress had
said it was 'two fifty', which clearly does not mean 'two hundred and
fifty dollars' by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase.
N e i m a n - M a r c u s refused to budge. They would not refund my money because
according to them; 'What the waitress told you is not our problem. You
have already seen the recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money.

I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes
which govern fraud in the state of Texas . I threatened to report them to
the Better Business Bureau and The Texas Attorney General's office. I
was basically told: Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you
can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money back'

I said, OK, you've got my $250, and now I'm going to have $250 worth of
fun. I told her that I was going to see to it that every cookie lover in
the world with an e-mail account gets a $250 cookie recipe from
N e i m a n - M a r c u s for free. She replied, 'I wish you wouldn't do that.' I
said, 'Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you RIPPED
ME OFF!' and slammed down the phone.

So here it is! Please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of.
I paid $250 for this, and I don't want N e i m a n - M a r c u s to EVER make
another penny from this recipe!

N e i m a n - M a r c u s COOKIES (Recipe may be halved as this makes heaps)

2 (500 ml) cups butter
680 g chocolate chips
4 (1000 ml) cups flour
2 (500 ml) cups brown sugar
2 tsp. (10 ml) Bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
2 (500 ml) cups sugar
500 g Grated Cadbury chocolate
5 (1250 ml) cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. (10 ml) baking powder
2 tsp. (10 ml) vanilla
3 cups (375 ml) chopped nuts (optional)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the
butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour,
oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda. Add chocolate
chips, grated Chocolate and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches
apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees (180 C)..

The above quantities make 112 cookies. Enjoy!

dizzydixies · 04/08/2009 14:13

yipee, another cookie recipe!!!

Sazz - you can have a space in the ark but you can't keep it as we need it up here too

Miamla · 04/08/2009 14:19

TS now that's a boat!!!

TwilightSurfer · 04/08/2009 15:29

Sorry but I'm proud and must share...
Both girls slept in THEIR room together ALL NIGHT last night without fuss.

Reese woke around 4 for about 4oz of formula. While I went for the bottle, DD1 got up and handed Reese a toy and talked soothingly to her. Very very sweet.

OP posts:
Miamla · 04/08/2009 15:35

wow! that's brilliant! well done girls! And so sweet of K to try and calm Reese down

I think I must have forgotten to give AF my change of address. I love it when docs ask for date of last period, they're always a bit when i reply Oct 07 Although the last one i said it to, made me pee on a stick!

TwilightSurfer · 04/08/2009 15:41

Miamla you are blessed...unless you want AF back to be procreating more. I'm sure when I visit my doctor on Thursday for something completely non-female parts related, he will make me poas if she's not turned up by then. He will also give me a little lecture while I wait. Making dh come watch the girls while I'm in the office. Maybe I can send doc out to give HIM the little speech too.

Well I guess I could touch on the age gap subject.

No gap is wrong or without imprefection.

My great grandmother had 12 children. The average age gap was 2 years.

I have several friends with teenagers and toddlers.

Many many of my family and friends have an average of 3 to 5 year gaps.

All seem to work well. All have their little issues.

Bottom line: NONE ARE UNHAPPY
