lol i read it as volvo too miamla.

hi everyone. nice to see some lost faces in the tent.

both dcs with issues during the night. dd1 tried to escalate hers into a sleep in our room. after her sister woke and i made her move so i could get to her sister she got up and said, "this is ridiculous!" then stommped off back to her bed. my thoughts exactly.

lol cyteen I read that as volvo too - well if maclaren make pushchairs, why shouldn't volvo? Either that or I thought you were referring to your driving lessons? Hope you are feeling better today anyway? Have you ever suffered anxiety/panic attacks? What you were describing sounded a little like that, that was all. I've had them and they are horrid horrid things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT

I am pleased to report the chocolate birthday cake was eventually GORGEOUS! At my 3rd attempt of making the chocolate butter cream icing, I only added a third the amount of cream the recipe said and it turned out perfect instead of gooey slop which would not thicken for all the icing sugar in Tescos!

We also had great weather for oliver's party yesterday, so we sat in the sunshine YAY!

Re. meals. I'm so uncreative it's not real.

Miamla · 03/08/2009 13:56

aah TS sounds very sweet!

cyteen · 03/08/2009 16:17

CC I am feeling much better today, thanks. The only thing left of my bug is a sore throat and somewhat less swollen glands. I've never had panic attacks as such, just these occasional incidences where everything kind of slides into a big chaotic pit and the notion of sense and rationality becomes completely untied. So I'll think something and then think 'but I can't trust this, what if it came from x, y or z place rather than from place a like I assume?'

It's very hard to describe (as you will no doubt have noticed).

Thumbs up for your cake success There'll be no stopping you now.

DS has discovered the joy of being chased

Miamla · 03/08/2009 17:55

hi cyteen, its good to read that you're feeling alot better.
And be warned, now your DS has discovered the thrill of being chased, he'll soon discover the thrill of finding something he's not meant to have and run away from you clutching it like a trophy!

LoveBuckets · 03/08/2009 19:39

Kurt had a lovely day up til bedtime... My dad came and fitted a door on his room at last and now he is terrified of it and won't go to sleep, even with it wide open! Friend and her baby came for lunch then we had a lovely play in the park (followed by interminable whingeing making for vvvveeeerrrrrryyyy slow return walk home.)

No1 Having done Larmer Tree festival in rain and mud with 2 small ones, I feel qualified to advise. Take washable crocs/flipflops for everyone, though it's best to be barefoot where possible and just wash off any mud. Cropped leggings/trousers/short dresses so you won't mind wherever your feet end up, thick socks for bed. And don't forget a dustpan and brush - sounds bonkers but groundsheets get so dirty even I notice it. Winter tog grobag should be fine over long pjs, plus take a few big blankets as well as sleeping bag for versatility/accidents/genius moments. If you can get hold of a double sleeping bag, they are great for putting round the sleeping mat for insulation and less movement. And some clothes pegs to hang stuff up to dry and out of small person range.

Miamla · 03/08/2009 19:43

buckets perhaps kurt was upset because you hadn't made it clear that the door wasn't a birthday present!

oooh, we should all go to a festival together!!! i'm sure it was suggested before so lets sort it..i nominate buckets to be Chief Organiser

dizzydixies · 03/08/2009 19:53

VG and I had already decided we should all go to this the big tent festival next year

alittlebitshy · 03/08/2009 20:04

camping. This from the woman whose dh is camping with the yoof right now, ( of whom I am very envious cos of the fabby worship band there). I don't mind camping but the idea of doing it with ds scares me. Could just about cope with dd but NOT ds. The agaion dh and i are so not outdoorsy people at heart .

TwilightSurfer · 03/08/2009 20:05

Dizzy that looks awesome!!

Cyteen so happy to see you smile.

dizzydixies · 03/08/2009 20:07

ALBS I'm with you on the shuddering, this is why the chose festival is close to me so I can nip home of an evening

I did all that for numerous years at the festivals prior to having the DC and I'm not doing it again

LoveBuckets · 03/08/2009 20:09

Well, at an equally extreme end of the island, we're definitely going to Larmer Tree next year. It will be the 20th one so will probably sell out within weeks (round Xmas)- will alert y'all at the time in case it appeals. It all takes place in beautiful Victorian pleasure gardens with peacocks strutting about and scarlet macaws flying overhead, so improbable-looking they might as well be pterodactyls, it's all very Through the Looking Glass but with fewer drugs. Oh and lantern-lit processions through 100yr old rhododendron 'tunnels'...

Yeah I was just watching that blurb podcast and feeling v excited. I hadn't realised it was only 5000 tickets! That'll be why it feels so nice and safe (and sells out so quick).

dizzydixies · 03/08/2009 20:34

SAZZ you wench [meep]

CaptainCaveman · 03/08/2009 20:59

oooh, am off to check fb now....

CaptainCaveman · 03/08/2009 21:06

Ah what lovely photos

Quiet on here this evening.....I hope none of you are off procreating

dizzydixies · 03/08/2009 21:08

ah you're all funny

Sazz is in the bath

VG on her holidays and I'm hoping that Steaky is doing ok

other than that the rest are all unaccounted for

oopsacoconut · 03/08/2009 21:09

Dizzy - why have you been hiding? it is a fab photo!

dizzydixies · 03/08/2009 21:16

oops have purchased items to make your muffins tomorrow so I can hand them in to the cafe - feel guilty as I haven't had a chance to do any shifts recently

DD2 in nursery and am hoping that DH will take DD1 out on her bike now that its fixed - he has bought himself a new bike and we now have a bike carrier to go on the back of the shitheap mummybus

CaptainCaveman · 03/08/2009 21:34

ah good, as long as all are well

Ds1 is over at mum and dads so it's a little quiet here this evening - even O hasn't woken up yet! I might even go downstairs and talk to dh in a bit! We seem to do 'shifts' on the computer NB. That is shifts on the computer and not to be misread without the 'f' in the middle

Miamla · 03/08/2009 21:34

dizz how on earth do you know sazz is in the bath? is your webcam up and running again?

you'll have to excuse me tonight. i was meant to be making thank you cards but i've had half a glass of wine and i now can't cut a straight line. i've tried, i really have but now i've given up. unfortunately all wine gone otherwise i'd have another glass. ooh, actually there might be some red left...

well if albs isn't going to blow my trumpet, i'll have to do it myself ... DS's birthday cake was really tasty and beautifully decorated (but only because dp saved the day, more of that later!) and my raisin and pineapple muffins (with cream cheese icing) not only looked pretty but they tasted good too! i felt like such a fraud in the baking aisle of the supermarket though!

chief organiser of festival aka buckets put me down as a yay for that too! looks lovely
