Hi All

Today we went down to Cleavedon near Bristol to wave a walk on the pier and eat icecream took DD on the pebbley beach. It was a lovely sunny day. Came home and made aroast dinner for what seems like the first time in ages. DH very happy - roast chook, potatoes, beans, and carrots from the garden. The I made him jam rolypoly and custard.

Sazzles - very productive day

Hotter - What a fantastic cake!

Miamla - hope T has gone down okay tonight.

RedLentil · 09/08/2009 21:27

What a fantastic cake Hotter.
You have set the bar very high for future years!

I need to make a rabbit cake for DD2's birthday on Wednesday, and am online to get inspiration.

Lovely colours Sazzles - we painted the outside of our house in cream and used a coffee colour on the sills which is not unlike your green umber colour. It has made a massive difference.

We are still varnishing and painting here and it is lovely to see the house starting to look loved. It is so tricky to get work done with the smallies around though ...

We had the most wonderful time at the family reunion. My three sisters were there with the six cousins we spent every childhood summer with ... There were 18 children and we had, thank God, a bouncy castle to entertain them.

Oh it was just lovely to be all together again. I think we're going to do it every year from now on.

DH did mucho childcare and I got to have a few glasses of wine and gossip so all was well with the world.

It sounds like you a had a lovely day too Oops.

Lovely days being had by all! Oops we used to go to Clevedon as kids. My granny lived in Portishead. Haven't been back anywhere round there for years, only Bristol once or twice. Speaking of which I am and to say I can't make it to the zoo as I work on Wednesdays. Hope you have a brilliant time.

We had a great time yesterday - thanks for all the birthday wishes. My cake tasted good (blueberry layer cake with raspberry cream filling and white chocolate icing) but looked less than perfect as usual! Don't know why I always fail on the decorating front, will obviously have to buck my ideas up from next year. DD however was not impressed, she spat it out in disgust and would only eat the decorative blueberries if I licked wiped the icing off them! Strange child.

okay I have already posted this in the wrong place already this morning

Morning all

Hope you all got a good night's sleep. We did shock Thanks to what Sazzles said last time I saw her, about the 3pm bottle she gave E being important to her sleeping, I started trying it and shuffling meals about. Lunch at 12.30 then nap, 3.30 5oz of ebm dinner at 4.30/5, night bottle starts at 6.30 downstairs and is finished at 7ish in our bed then into her bed after stories and songs and forthe last 4 nights that has been it until 5.30 or 6. shock

It's a lovely day ouside and have hung out a load of washing already. DH off to work in 10mins.

DD has started walking a bit more she walked across the patio yesterday and a bit other places but refuses to do it unless she wants to. I did catch her on camera the first time she did.

ooh she smells (again)

hotterpotter · 10/08/2009 07:41

Morning ladies

Matchsticks please, am feeling very bleary-eyed today. Was up late weeding toys and clearing out a small set of drawers, and then DS and DD both awake at 6.30am Got rid of 3 bags of rubbish though so a good start on the decluttering. DS' toys turn tonight, time to get rid of his most babyish toys

Was thinking about you yetserday Sambo and your yurt plans. Are you seriously planning on doing it? If so you are very brave . I have so much crap useful stuff I would not know where to start getting rid of most of it in order to fit into a yurt

Oops yay for the 'lie-in'

Sazz for your shit night. Hope he dentist doesn't finish you off with a filling

hotterpotter · 10/08/2009 07:46

Oh feck I have just snapped a massive branch off the tree trying to reach some ripe figs higher up . And I'm soaked now too

NezLiquide · 10/08/2009 08:07

Passes a towel to HP

A lovely birthday weekend for DS and Singapore (yesterday) so we have a public holiday today.

DS really enjoyed his big day and his party although it was very hot for the bbq but the babes all enjoyed the ball pit we hired (although DS worked out how to get out of it quicker than we hoped). He had some lovely pressies.

Belated Happy Birthday to all the other 08/08/08ers.

sambo303 · 10/08/2009 08:21

good morning

up every 2 hours last night after an hour of screaming at bedtime last night. I dont think it was teeth but now I am remembering that ds hardly ate a thing yesterday due to missing his afternoon nap and being too tired.

hots lovely cakes; yurt dwelling is less hardcore than you might think as we will be on my dbro's 25 acres and also living in his one bed flat above his triple garage for when we feel like more civilised accommodation. My friends in herefordshire have a composting toilet (most fab) and eco washing machine that you spin so they really are going the whole hog (plus the usual opposition from rude bigotslocals which is not nice when you are 8.5 months pg )

off to baby signing now, ds whinging with tiredness

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/08/2009 08:42

Morning all.
hotter hope you have dried off, the cake looks amazing.
Glad you had a lovely day.

sazzles rough night for you. I have been up and down since 4am but not that bad really.
The paint choice looks lovely btw.

red the reunion sounds really lovely. Glad you are happy with the progress of the decorating too.

pertelote that cake sounds devine. Glad you had a lovely day too.

oops glad that extra bottle is helping. Ds also has one around 2.30, and if he has lunch late, then tea is late so he sometimes has another one at 4 ish.

sambo the yurt does sound great. very of the 25 acres.
Sorry to hear of the rough night, hope he seems better today.

Hope I have not missed anyone.

Off to finish packing as I am off away today. I hope this rain stops or we will not be able to erect the tent.

Dh and I still not on good terms. Well I think he thinks everything is ok as he has said his bit.

However he has said dd/me cannot have a 'flea bitten' pony (not sure why he keeps calling it this) and he will be the one to buy her one when she is older. He is not having people calling him a tight arse because he wont buy her one now.

I explained noone has called him a tight arse.
The pony is obviously more for my pleasure as although she loves them and loves to sit on them. I am well aware she is young.
He said tough I could have any car I wanted on the drive, but I have what I can AFFORD.

Fair enough then. I said I didnt understand as I wasnt asking him for any money.
He said well if you have to start paying for your own car and petrol and phone etc... then how can you afford a pony.

I said I cant work because I am at home with the dcs so how can I pay bills. I don't have a job to go back to that pays enough for childcare.

Ok so I maybe being a bit unreasonable, but ffs I was sharing costs. I wouldnt mind if we were struggling financially, he earns PLENTY but obviously a pony is not in his fucking plan this year
Oh well...
So glad to be going away from him for a while.

So very sorry to have been ME ME ME
Just needed to let off steam and have noone else to cry talk to.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 10/08/2009 08:44

nezliquide so very sorry I forgot you
Glad you also had a lovely day. The hiring of a ball pit sounds a great idea. My dcs would really love that.

AnnVan · 10/08/2009 08:56

Morning everyone.

So. Tired.
nuff said.

tooth number five is on its way through. Driving lesson will have to be cancelled. wish Seb would stay on the floor instead of climbing onto the couch and crawling back and forth across me.

Hi all, I'm officially blonde yay! Will try and get a pic when DH calms down. He in a snit because I forgot my phone (again) and he had convinced himself that he was stuck in with the kids and no car and no food and it had been about to rain all day apparently so they couldnt' walk to the shop. Car keys were on their usual shelf (I had gone by bus), admittedly there was no easy instant food but anyone with imagination could have rustled something up from the cupboards. They have now gone to Asda to buy crap as he is off work for 2 wks and has amazingly had the foresight to prepare himself for repeats.

Anyway, I have bought the most amazing blue satin 50s cocktail dress for £25 in Debenhams! And I got a bra fitting and new bra so I am one hot mama today.

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2009 16:09

Hi girls, I have a simple question for open debate. I am ready to stop bfing. So,

  1. How do I do it? I did it before but seem to have forgotten how
  1. Do I do it now, ahead of going on holiday in 12 days? Or leave it til we get home? My bra size seems to have gone down a little, giving the girls a bit of jiggling room (unsightly, i know ) BUT, I don't want to spend money on a bra I might only wear for a few weeks.... I'm so indecisive.

Help me please

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2009 16:11

I am WIPED out. DH & I are both under the weather. He endured it the entire weekend and I've only just developed the nasties. I guess it's a cold since we both have had it but it feels like a really bad allergy sinus thing to me. Fresh chicken soup cooking on the stove for dinner.

No1 what is up with your DH? You're the horse lady. Why wouldn't it be YOU that purchased your DD her first pony?? Very strange.

Lovely BFing discussion took place at the reunion. I thought it was going to turn into a all out battle. One cousin is still bfing her 18 month old and talks of continuing until she's 5 yrs old. Second cousin, who's pregnant, says "don't you think that's a little strange?" Very timidly. First cousin gets on her soapbox and well there I was wondering how the hell to exit the room as quickly as possible without being obvious. WOW! BFing discussions "can" bring out hostility...why?? Don't answer that. I just wanted to share. I'm really proud of all of you with BFing for as long as you have. I find that amazing.

Have just downed a bowl of cilantro rice and black beans. YUM! Grocery bill today was and I have no meal plans. Seems I've fallen back into the pit.

Just generally mumbling to myself now. Sorry. This cold/sinus thing has me in a fog.

Well Reese (or the bigger kid) broke a shaker toy then consumed some of the shaker bits. I phoned the manufacturer and found out it's just metal buckshot. Guess Reese will have to steer clear of metal detectors for a few days.

Right, pic up. It really is a fabulous dress, I feel like Julianne Moore in that film where her husband is gay, but I've nowhere to wear it. One can get away with cotton cocktail dresses for casual but satinhmm]. Hair cost £80 - my rationale is that I only have to keep going there for another year then life will be manageable enough to dye it myself or catch my sister's mobile hairdresser.

Cavey, you could post on Freecycle or look on Ebay for some smaller BF bras I guess?

Redlentil, that's genius getting a bouncy castle!
