Morning you lot

'Tis a beautiful day here, just perfect for a little party in the garden. Only thing is, hadn't seen the sun shining on the patio doors for so long I hadn't realised how filthy they were but they are all nice and clean now

DS a little bemused by his birthday, and DD trying to muscle in opening/playing with all his presents. So far the hit of the morning has been the VTech shape sorter rocket and the big box that the trike came in

Hope you are all basking in sunshine too

cyteen · 08/08/2009 09:26

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC EMILY SAM and MARIANNE !!!!!

Lovely birthday babies, awww I just can't believe it, all these one year olds. Hope all the big little ones enjoy their days, and that all the mums and dads do too.

dizzy huge congrats on the planning permission, what a buzz it must be. Well deserved imo. The future's looking bright, young lady!

Holiday sorting in progress here as we are off down to Devon in a few hours. DS is napping, DP is shopping and I am sitting here with bright green face pack on, about to get in the shower

poppysocks · 08/08/2009 09:41

Happy Birthday to all the 08/08/08 babies. What a year!

My beautiful birthday girl managed a bottle and five presents, and her first steps in an hour (culminating in some very scared crying at a lion walker thingy) and is now back zzzzing. DH and DD1 are making her a cake. Rainbow theme here. Keeping it simple with butter icing used to affix smarties aplenty I believe. I'm having half an hour off though and leaving them to it.

Congrats dizzy. So, so pleased to hear that planning have done the right thing and I will now have somewhere to get a decent cake at all times . of your day yesterday. Wish I'd been more organised for today once we'd decided to cancel the b'day bbq, especially as weather so lovely, but alas...

Hope you have a good journey steaky and lots of comfort when home.

Have a fab hol cyteen. Hope weather is as good there as here (not often you can say that with genuine sentiment ).

Hope you got more sleep than expected miamla.

How are things now with DH no1? Hope you made up and had a fab night out.

To everyone else, hello and have a really good weekend.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2009 09:58

Happy birthday to all the beautiful babies.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

ONly quick as dh is pottering about. No we didnt talk or go out. So I went up to farm with my sis then up to mym mums for a bit.
Dont see why i should stay in.
I was sooo desperate for a break from bathtime bedtime routine.

I will not be making an effort for a babysitter for us again.

I got home about tenish. He said ds woke 2 min after i left and didnt go back to bed till9.30 and dd didnt go to bed till 9

ha ha
Oh and I refused to move out of bed this am when dcs woke. Si I stayed in bed till 8.30 grin]

I am now looking forward to going away on monday. Leave the grumpy bastard on his own...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2009 10:02

oops what an absolute sweetie she is. I love love love that tshirt.
Where did you get it?

CaptainCaveman · 08/08/2009 10:19

Emily Sam Marianne and Isaac* Wishing you All A wonderful 1st Birthday

whizzing in - going out shopping soon and dh thinks I'm in the shower ...

RedLentil · 08/08/2009 10:24

Happy birthdays to Emily, Isaac, Marianne and Sam.

Mad rush here as I'm cooking lots of food for a family barbecue today. Just the children of the cousins meeting up makes 18 guests. Add the adults and that is a lot of food.

Dizzy - woohoo on the planning.
Buckets - woohoo on the new friend.
Cyteen - woohoo for cream teas! Hope the journey goes well.
Poppy- fab on the steps too.

Thanks so much for that shoes link too Buckets. I'll need it this week.

No1 - good for you for going out. Our DS was a very unsettled, weepy baby too, and so I have an idea of how much tension it can cause. When he started to walk all the trouble seemed to fall away from him though. Hope that is the case for Marcus too.

Crap parenting by me yesterday afternoon. There was somebody stamping and shouting 'it's not fair' and it wasn't one of the DC.

I hate DH being away, sleeping on an air bed and top teeth cutting.

Have none of you birthday peeps served up virtual cake yet? [judgy emoticon )

pertelote · 08/08/2009 11:03

Happy Birthday Emily! And Isaac! And Sam! Virtual cake all round! And champagne of course - especially for our brilliant Dizzy!

I am quite weepy today, must keep busy. Shouldn't be a problem - parents and brother coming for lunch, then ILs (inc SIL) and friends + baby coming for fizz and cake. Cake looks good so far though not actually iced yet, which is where it usually all goes wrong. Very impressed by yours, Oops.

Sorry not everyone is having such a cheerful time. No1 and Red, hope today is better.

Is it stupid of me to be somewhat or even that there was nothing in the post for Marianne from my father? Hmmmm.... shall go and keep busy again Have a lovely day all you wonderful mums!

alittlebitshy · 08/08/2009 11:14

Happy birthday Sam, marrianbe, isaac and emily!

And go emily on those birthdat steps!!! poppy is it the fisher price lion push and ride? I admired that but dh said no as we have a basic push and ride already. but i had one when i was a baby and i remember giving it to a cousin when i was about ten and then wishing i hadn't.

It is my dh's birthday btw too. Clearly a popular birthdate across the years. he had a card from his mum and she asked him if he is 36 or 37 . . Says it all really - she's in her own selfish world. (btw he's 37).

dizzydixies · 08/08/2009 11:19

morning all and Happy Birthday 08/08 babies

pertelote weep away, you're allowed because in 17yrs time at her 18th she'll be mortified and tell you to stop it don't be upset about your dad, I had to ask mine to send Dylan a christening card as the other two have one from him and mum (organised by mum of course) and I didn't want Dylan to think she hadn't had one - it arrived during the week - I think its just an oversight on their part

Red huge sympathies re parenting, DH working this morning and DD2 and I have fallen out spectacularly so much so I have refused to go out and instead put Dylan down for a nap in her cot and the tv is on considering its a beautiful day I feel terribly guilty about it however they've had 2 incredibly busy days and I think she's overtired - we're off out on the bikes/walk this afternoon so a bit of quiet/tv time shouldn't hurt too much should it?! I hope you manage to enjoy the BBQ, it sounds great

buckets I have linked that website before so apologies for mucking that up - hope you manage to get something that suits

sambo hope you're all feeling a bit better

No1 well done you for going out/refusing to get up - can't wait to see photos of Lottie, my cousin is in an event next weekend so am trying to see if my friend can stable her horse overnight whilst she stays with us otherwise its a VERY long drive before competing - am going to take the girls up to watch too

Cyteen enjoy your holidays

not too bad a night in the house of Dixie although up to feed Dylan once and DD1 wet - we forgot to lift her though then they all slept till about 7.30

thank you thank you thank you all for your planning congrats - couldn't have done it without you all now I just have the daunting task of getting the funding to get it all up and running [meep]

VG missing you whilst you're on your jollies, hope you're all having a lovely time

RedLentil · 08/08/2009 13:04

Me: four pizzas cooked from scratch, cottage pie, burgers made.
Kids dressed, party clothes ironed and on, spare clothes packed.
Me dressed, clean etc.

In same time: DH dressed.
Bathed kids.

Guess who is sulking about being rushed?

And that will be a big ffs from me.

AnnVan · 08/08/2009 14:45

Happy Birthday Sam Emily Marianne and Isaac. have a GREAT day!!

dizzydixies · 08/08/2009 16:56

would be rude NOT to buy these considering their name don't you think?!?!

LoveBuckets · 08/08/2009 18:07

Happy birthday little folks this weekend.

Dizzy Congrats on the PP, they don't know how lucky they are to have you!

Albs Marwell does a members' offer of unlimited free hot drinks when you buy one of their insulated mugs at £20. Tis brilliant but although our passes will get us into Bristol I don't think the mug will work there.

No1 Yay for you. Hopefully he'll have had plenty of time last night to remember some of the things that are so great about being with you eg he doesn't have to raise 2 kids alone.

Spent last night watching Jeeves and Wooster as DH has bought the boxset. I want a Jeeves, he's so cool.

I took big two to a pebbly beach and playground on Southampton Water this avo which was lovely, then I remembered a ruined abbey just down the road from there. So they had a whale of a time there too and we agreed it was a perfect picnic spot for future reference. I always forget that Southampton has loads of historical stuff, just because the city centre is so hideously post-Blitz and apocalyptic (I believe it's called the Brutalist style of architecture? .)

TwilightSurfer · 08/08/2009 19:26

ssshhhh....sneaking on the computer...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM, MARIANNE, EMILY & ISAAC

OP posts:
Miamla · 08/08/2009 23:37

what's everyone up to tonight and why wasn't i invited?

actually, i couldn't have joined you even if you had invited me because i've been busily making my dress. the fabric is gorgeous (its a soft cotton that appears to be purple but is actually royal blue and bright pink threads woven together) so in some lights, direction, it looks blue but in others it looks really pink so i was thinking of getting these shoes.... what do you reckon?

right, i really must go to bed now. sorry, i'll try and catch up tomorrow

night night

ps TS you've kept me amused with your fb status updates about your journey

Miamla · 08/08/2009 23:40

oh but with those shoes i'm going to change the black ribbon for a purple one

Miamla · 09/08/2009 08:28

i was last on yesterday, first on this morning...where is everybody?????

LoveBuckets · 09/08/2009 09:06

Morning all. It's 9am and DH is still asleep - aren't I a great wife? But we need milk so will have to wake him in a mo.

Miamla are you going to be brave and wear mascara to this wedding? That fabric sounds showstopping. Have you ever seen Styleshake.com? Great fun for playing Fashion Wheel LOL. I've been quite tempted to order one of their jersey Grecian-front dresses but don't actually have an excuse occasion.

sambo303 · 09/08/2009 09:39

morning ladies

congrats on planning dizz that is fab news.

had a looong day yesterday visiting friends near Hereford - they have built a log cabin in the wilds, a truely beautiful spot. They have 3 chickens, 2 pigs, 2 horses (one with foal) and a dog; baby girl is due on Wednesday. All in all pretty idyllic. Ds did not enjoy the journey but rolled about in the grass happily all day, got really muddy and ate gravel and flowers. Cant wait to get our yurt now.

dp browsing the car boot, ds asleep, time for another cup of tea methinks

miamla shall we travel down to Bristol together again on 19th???

LoveBuckets · 09/08/2009 09:56

Sounds gorgeous Sambo, have read lots of books set around the borders, really want to go explore the area. Always wanted a yurt at our old house where the garden would have been big enough. It's a LOT cheaper than an extension if you have a DH with a space-eating hobby (Mine has a whole room to himself, although that in itself ensures lifelong fidelity because he's never risk losing that!).

Very quiet day on here, hope everyone has been enjoying the beautiful weather

Feeling a little delicate today due to yesterday's sunshine leading to an excess of wine but a fabulous time was had by all, especially DS, and the cake was delicious (and is now all gone )

Picture on my profile if anyone is interested. Bed time now, hope to be back on later although DH threatening to have an ebay-listing evening

Thank you but now you can see, no wonder I am fat with all that cake sloshing around. Most people have pictures of their DC on their profile - mine is almost 50% cake

So are you painting the outside walls? What colour? [nosey]
