Toxic...no thankfully. That was my first concern. They confirmed the shaker bits are just metal (steel i think) pellets about the size of strawberry seeds. I bet she got no more than a dozen in her mouth as it was just whatever stuck to her hand as she shoved her hand in your mouth. The shaker broke at the handle...and I'm thinking the break was facilitated by her sister iykwim.

Buckets you look very good.

Evening All

TS - can you tell me what a 'sloppy joe' is?? We are off to an American friends for dinner at the weekend and she is making them for dinner and I need to take a side and pudding.

DD did not want to go to bed tonight so we are eating late. I made a sugar free banana loaf this evening, I wanterd something for DD to have when she screams blue murder asks for something when DH has cake/biscuits/chocolate. She loved it and it wasn't fussed as DH had the same BUT his had butter and jam on it as it wasn't sweet enough

going to rescue the dinner DH is supposed to be watching the pasta but is watching Jeeves and Wooster.

TwilightSurfer · 10/08/2009 20:54

Sloppy Joe (aka Manwich) is a ground beef burger basically. The beef has been seasoned with a tomato sauce then scooped onto a hamburger bun. See Here

opinion: kinda tastes tomatoey barbquey. in most households it's used as a "i can't think of what to do so let's do this". very quick and easy....great for cooks who are afraid of the kitchen.

TwilightSurfer · 10/08/2009 20:55

oops sorry i missed the side and pudding....
slaw and banana pudding are most common.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 10/08/2009 20:58

that banana loaf sounds lovely.

kitchen is a wreck after i made chicken for chicken tacos and chicken alphabet noodle soup. dd1 turned her nose up at both but is being forced to eat them or NOT go have fun tomorrow. the tacos were DEVINE. the soup looks/smells great...it will be for dinner.

hello everyone,

CC are you flying longhaul to go on holiday? If so, then I would strongly advise you not to give up until you get home! Much much easier to breast feed on a plane than anything else.

Otherwise, hello everyone!

LoveBuckets · 10/08/2009 21:16

'Manwich'... Snurk Eeuw at tinned mince though!

Oops There's a great sugar-free flapjack recipe on MN recipes, try searching sugar-free. Nice enough for grown ups to eat.

Miamla · 10/08/2009 21:24

ither LoveBuckets has not created a public page yet or its privacy settings don't allow you to see it.

oi Buckets... why can't i see your profile

Miamla · 10/08/2009 21:28

well i'm shattered, first day back at school today. half my class are new and the teacher wasn't there to tell us what to do. half the class werne't there either but it was fun

anyhow, translation of above... back at work, most of my team are new, boss was out
had lots of smiles and hugs so was all good
meanwhile mum was shattered when i got home having spent the day running round after DS. she feels awful as well because he fell and banged his head. he's got a huge bruise next to his eye. i don't think i've managed to convince her that it could have just as easiliy happened with me looking after him. i'm hoping tomorrow goes a little smoother for her!

right, off to sort out what i'm wearing tomorrow and then its a bit of pumping and then bed for me

sorry no messages, too tired to think straight let alone read

hope all is well with one and all

Miamla · 10/08/2009 21:34

oh and buckets... saw your link, website looks great! thank you

ooh and i bought new shoes today the ones that i linked to the other day. so i'm wearing petrol blue shoes with my purple dress

albs is a bad influence on me! i was inspired to get new shoes for the wedding after our shopping trip for her to get new shoes! i normally just make do with what i've got but oooooo new shoes!!!!

Miamla · 10/08/2009 21:35

really am going now
night all

oopsacoconut · 10/08/2009 22:02

Night Miamla. Pleased work was good - I can't imagine having to go back now. You may well find that your periods return soonish as you are not feeding during the day and pumping doesn't have the same effect on hormones as BF. Then you can get on with DC2

I'm off too only really poppped on to say Buckets your piccies are fab - you look amazing. Miamla they are on FB.

CaptainCaveman · 10/08/2009 22:06

sazz have only been doing 2 bfs a day for the past 3 months - bedtime (7 ish) and morning (6ish). O doesn't take any other milk apart from this - drinks water and juice.
Flying short haul (tenerife)but the return journey will be over O's bedtime so it may be a cunning plan to keep on with the bfs until afer hols and just buy a couple of cheapy bras to tide me over.

Job done - thanks for your help

NezLiquide · 11/08/2009 04:06

CC am doing pretty much the same as you. We're off to Koh Samui this weekend for a long weekend and I'm also now on 2 bf with water at other times but planning to wait till we come back as flights are at bedtime (both ways) and not too sure about the whole milk/sterilising etc thing there IYSWIM.

DS has a new word - Twinkle - I was singing Twinkle, twinkle little star to him and he just came out with it (a bot more like tinkuuh. I'd have thought Mama and Dada were much easier

pertelote · 11/08/2009 07:21

A quick good morning from me...

Miamla so glad your first day went ok. New shoes sound like a very good way to celebrate!

TS hope you are feeling better today. Poor rattley Reese, that must have been a bad moment for you.

No1 hope your husband has come to his senses this morning and apologised for being an idiot.

pertelote · 11/08/2009 07:23

Oooo I'm the first one up on! Hot buttered toast and strong coffee all round. Have lovely days you lovely ladies.

sambo303 · 11/08/2009 08:46

thanks for brekker pert

well, it's my last day of ML today . Almost glad it's here cos I've been dreading it that long. Had very interesting convo yesterday with another mum I've seen on and off, her dh is looking for someone to employ in his one man band tax business, working from home...will investigate further when I see her next week. Could be the perfect way to get out of the 9-5 rut. Got work rest of the week, but taking ds swimming with NCT friend this morning so I dont have to think about it!!

buckets I could not see your pic, I bet you look v glam blonde

nez wow koh Samui, have a wonderful time

miamla congrats on getting through your first day back. New shoes are a sure fire way to lift my mood too although I have enough shoes already for all Aug 08 ladies twice over

ts will definitely try that sandwich (using veggie mince); looks delicious and easy

hotterpotter · 11/08/2009 10:04

Morning all

Sambo hope your return is not too awful . I know they were rotters about you working part time, this other opportunity sounds interesting then you can tell them to shove their job I'd quite like to work from home, although don't have the willpower to work rather than mucking about on the internet, and for me the best bit of working is getting a break from the DC and some adult conversation.

Miamla glad your return went well. Sounds like you had fun

sambo303 · 11/08/2009 10:12

morning hotpot
still feeling majorly p**d off about the dumb meeting and really towards my new boss; honestly, the job he outlined that I would return to is almost double my workload and there is no headcount increase in my team,,,grr. OK, will stop going on now.

sazzles have you any news on your return?

LoveBuckets · 11/08/2009 10:17

Snot LOL at twinkle. Very at Koh Samui.

CC I assume you've tried cow's milk at different temps and with different spouts? Eg Fruit Shoot type lid might be enough novelty to get the milk down?

DH has a cold again but I have noticed he hasn't been such a tw*t about it this time. Eg, holiday hasn't been cancelled so far...

Off to zoo soon in bright pink cotton cocktail dress (and clashing scruffy red shoes.)

dizzydixies · 11/08/2009 12:14

ladies sorry for disappearing act but am a bit all go with the kids, DH being off and the cafe stuff back in full swing again

we're going to be in the papers again tonight/tomorrow - oops have you another quote!??!

Dylan up at 5am and have managed to do the dreaded school shoe shop today too. Am now doing emails to the journos for this evening/tomorrows editions and DH and I are going to see Dylan Moran live at Edinburgh tonight but I promise will try to catch up tomorrow

CC sends her love too but is also a bit hectic
