hi oops a 3d duck sounds amazing, hope you'll post a pic when it's done

well ds finally asleep on the boob and dp gone to work cos he couldnt stand the racket (not so ill after all )

found the book down the back of ds's chest of drawers, all is right with the world

no1 congrats on getting your pony, what's his/her name?

TwilightSurfer · 07/08/2009 11:53

I believe I look only slightly better than Medusa at the moment. After constant motion from 7am until 11pm yesterday I was up with Reese 4 seperate times between 11pm and 6am. You can do the math. She is in a prime state. My lovely calm and happy child is now SCREAMING at the drop of a hat and throwing anything she does not like. Reconsidering my trip. Would it be wrong?

What I had of the red tea was incredible. I'm extremely picky and it one me over. Sadly I can't make another cup now because I only purchased a sampler...to find what I like. As for getting it at the doctor's vs getting it at a store....I bet if I look there's some there too. My doc practices alternative meds and keeps his waiting area stocked with nice things like teas, books, and herbal remedies. I've had my eye on the teas the last few times I've been in but yesterday they had a sampler box on the checkout counter so I got it. I will be getting more.

On the BM topic: It goes beyond BM. After a certain age (1 year) children should consume a smaller amount of BM, formula and/or milk. This has to do with iron but on in the way you would first think. I has to do with body absorbtion of iron. From 1 year old the body requires a balance of nutrition so that all the proper nutrients are absorbed. For example have any of you required iron suppliments. With iron suppliments you are asked to drink orange juice. The iron reacts with the vitamin C and then is absorbed into the blood stream better/faster/more efficiently. Without it most of the iron passes on through and out in a bowl movement. Where milk is concerned, it keeps other nutrients from properly absorbing...iron is one of those nutrients. Children known for consuming lots of milk also have low iron because the phosphates found therein inhibit the absorbtion of the iron. blah blah blah blah

Bottomline: BM is not bad. But at this age the body's processes shift and require alternate sources for peak performance.

And my last post is an editors dream. OMG! The ERRORS!!!

I wanted to include that those who are still BM aren't doing it as a primary source of nutrition so I can't see any reason why any health care professional would speak negatively about it. BM and the act of BFing still over good for both you and your child. Maybe they are just going by a guideline and seeing all the sides to the story.

LOL TS I am imagining you with your wild-woman hair and eyes on stalks due to exhaustion - no wonder you can't spell at the moment

I freely admit I am still BFing just a bit, not for nutrition but to soothe tears and sometimes get DS to sleep

steaknife · 07/08/2009 13:37

Hello all. Just checking in from a t'interweb cafe. Flying over to London tomorrow and have to get up at stupid o'clock.

Can't remember who it was with the Teach Yourself Baby Sleep book, I got mine the other week and have followed it for getting Iz to sleep without feeding to sleep. Still isn't perfect but she settles more easily now and has slept through for the last couple of nights.

Fully expect it to go tits up with 2 weeks in UK but at least I feel comfortable and in control of what I am doing with her.
Waiting till we have our own place in UK till I tackle naps!

Saw the lawyer on Weds, who turned out not to be English speaking. A bit of a farce really as Mansteak and I went together and it was clear that we weren't in agreement over the mutuality of the seperation. In the end we got a seperation de fe which is a declaration at the police station to say that I am taking Iz to live in England and Mansteak agrees.

That is the important thing I needed to ensure that I am not ever on the wrong side of the Hague Convention.
Meanwhile Mansteak has agreed to wait for a formal seperation or divorce.

Looking forward to coming home and feeling okay about the future. Not great but okay.

And really looking forward to the zoo on the 19th. Who's coming out to play?

oops did you get your parcel?

dizzy lol at you smothering your girls in cake.

and wotcha to the rest of you lovelies.

Oooh for those that likey like shoes - look here they're pretty.
The Olga Oven pair on the night section are on sale in a shop here 75 euros - I am tempted to put them on the plastic. I know I would be a fool but I lurve them.

steaknife · 07/08/2009 13:53

right well there is no-one to play with so I am going to go and try on the pretty shoes that are too high to push a buggy in.

sambo303 · 07/08/2009 14:29

oh dear who linked to the shoes....dont you know I'm a shoeaholic! Love the music on that site too

I am definitely coming to Bristol Zoo, it'll be fab to meet you and Izzy. Cant believe things are so far advanced re mansteak, over here you have 2 years 'cooling off period' after deciding to divorce, is it the same in France?

re the teach yourself baby sleep book, it's fab I think and was going to recommend to sazzles due to case studies on early waking babies (the most difficult thing to adjust but some good ideas in here)

ts I loved the bowl movement, more please

dp back home in bed and refused lunch, must be sick!

I have a cold sore - yuk, hate them

hotterpotter · 07/08/2009 15:06

Sorry to miss you Steaky, you sound OK, hope things are not too awful. Annoying about the lawyer, but good that you have the official papers to bring Izzy back. not to make the zoo, but it is just tooooo far.

Sambo you don't mind if I just air-kiss you then, as do not want a cold sore. Glad the nap-book turned up

Cake in the oven - I used the vanilla cake recipe but added cocoa instead of the 85g plain flour. Smells good anyway . Got the first batch of cupcakes half made too for when the cake comes out - we are going to be drowning in cake .

Good job there is some cake to cheer us up because the news from Headingley is piss-poor

sambo303 · 07/08/2009 15:18

hots you could try rubbing any excess cake on your children...a la Dizzy

oopsacoconut · 07/08/2009 15:20

Steaky - good to see you! I have the very very lovely posh frock!! Thank you so much. DD wore it yesterday to lunch.

HP cake sounds yummy am very as broken oven means no baking. DH been on the phone about cricket - we are apparently having a day out tomorrow as there is no point in wasting a day watching the aussies thrash england

We WILL be at the zoo can't wait to meet everyone.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/08/2009 15:23

Sorry to hear of all the sickness and still early wakings

steak lovely to hear from you, you sound a little more positive. Still must be very hard though. Thinking of you.
I too love love shoes, but sadly can't seem to view some on the site.

oops can't wait to see the tshirt.
The pony is called 'Charlotte' or 'Lottie'

Well me and dh have not spoke all day. I went on at him this am about how he sometimes talks/deals woth dd. He told me to shut up and not talk to him. So I havn't.
He is off today and my dsis was supposed to be having kids tonight. dh had been nagging for weeks to sort a babysitter as I am sure I said we have only been out once.

He does not want to go out, as he says he can't be bothered.
I said well I am then, sadly I wont be as I have noone to go out with or nowhere to go.
Secretly I can't be bothered to make the effort as AF is here, but I am not telling him that. childish behaviour on both sides I think.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/08/2009 15:24

sorry me me me again

oopsacoconut · 07/08/2009 15:30

No1 - pic on profile!

LoveBuckets · 07/08/2009 17:40

No1 Go out with your DSis then and sod him.

Steaky Sad times huh? but exciting too. Am I right in thinking the French are more about divorce than the Brits? Or am I being horribly racist there? My sis reckons so but she has a shocking old tart for a MIL who happens to be French so she is biased. And her DH grew up in England with his dad so he is not 'un type francais.'

You might have the privilege of meeting Mr Buckets at the zoo but he is likely to spend the whole time hiding from you all with the big 2 so I can sit and gossip.

Had amazing day at our zoo today, bumped into a friend of a friend who I have always wanted to get to know better and we ended up spending nearly 5hrs with her and her kids. Didn't spend a penny either with passes, picnic and magic refill mug.

alittlebitshy · 07/08/2009 19:42

buckets what is a magic refill mug???? We have membership to London and Whipsnade zoos - which reminds me, we muist go again soon. Always feels good not having to pay, ignoring the vast sum we paid out for the iniital mebership [hnmm].

Miamla · 07/08/2009 20:20

gah! DS and I have both got dodgy stomachs. DP has got his idiot friend staying tonight. Actually, that's a bit mean, he's not an idiot just very childish and DP regresses when they spend time together
i'm currently hiding upstairs in DS's room doing important stuff
what i really want to be doing is sitting in front of tv, vegging, not feeling ill and having an early night. none of which are going to happen
hey ho

hmm, i need to investigate train tickets to bristol...what station am i heading for? is it temple meads for the zoo? and am i right in thinking there's a bus from station to zoo ok?

Miamla · 07/08/2009 20:21

oh and DS still awake he's currently running laps of the living room and showing no signs of tiredness

its ok, i'm going to find somewhere else to moan now. i'll be back later when i've cheered up a bit

oopsacoconut · 07/08/2009 20:26

Miamla - Yes head for Temple Meads then bus to Zoo. If you go on the zoo website there is often a train/zoo deal. Hope you feel better soon. Can you go and lie in a nice warm bath for hours? Once DS in in bed - is he being wound up by the visitors?

oopsacoconut · 07/08/2009 20:27

AND because it's already the 8th in Singapore - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMUEL

Miamla · 07/08/2009 20:28

yup, completely wound up so i've left them all to it!
thanks for info oops i'll go and have a look now. a bath isn't a bad idea but i get bored so quickly that its not really worth running one!

dizzydixies · 07/08/2009 22:20

oh lovely day for the birthday babies tomorrow so happy birthday to you all

had a fab day today at Edinburgh (after all the stress of sodding getting there/getting a touch lost etc!) the Giraffe Who Can't Dance was fab and they all really enjoyed it then quick sandwich lunch before the bubble show which was also brilliant

only downside to the day was DD1 insisting on wearing her sandals and against my better judgement I let her - needless to say after the bubble show we had to traipse into city centre to get a pair of cheapy flipflops as her feet were sore anyway, we had a play in the park, some ice cream and off to ikea for a play shop and some tea - we're all knackered but I'm determined to go back again before the festival is over - I have the bug now

DH came home to his diploma essay results and he passed one and failed one so he'll have to work on his resubmission before 1st Sept - it was marked in June so why it took this long to come I don't know

on a more positive note WE GOT PLANNING PERMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!! now I can't tell anyone in real life until the official letter arrives but the planning officer emailed me and it went through today

this should make my pending return to work more bearable

hots let me know how the vanilla/choc cake turns out
oops loving her t-shirt and hope all feeling better
steaky safe journey tomorrow
TS hope the travelling was bearable and you're all settled in
miamla hope you're tucked up in bed ignoring the big boys!?!

poppy I am as usual only a phone call away if you need anything - hope you manage to enjoy Emily's birthday tomorrow

if I've forgotten anyone, sorry but its been a busy, long day lol

hotterpotter · 07/08/2009 23:38

So far cake looking good Dizzy, have iced it to look like a pirate and am very pleased with the result. Will upload photo and report on flavour tomorrow Glad you had fun in Edinburgh; I won't tell about the ice creams also woohoo woohoo re planning permission, 'tis brilliant news

Miamla hope DP's friend didn't annoy you too much and you are sleeping peacefully now

Buckets glad you had fun at the zoo today, and yay for new friend

Oops lovely picture and we could also do with a proper one of you, because Dizzy is not the only one hiding from the camera

No1 hope DH has made up with you. And aah re new pony, am not , oh no, not me . I expect you will be too busy ponying for a meetup now.

Sambo there will be no cake left over

Better go to bed as will be having a busy day tomorrow. Where did that year go, eh?

Happy Birthday Sam, Happy Birthday Emily, Happy Birthday Marianne, Happy Birthday my beautiful lovely Isaac

Miamla · 08/08/2009 00:40

lol, no, i should be sleeping peacefully but i've been playing with fabric and i'm making a bf friendly dress to wear to my friend's wedding next saturday
i sent the boys out to the pub so had a lovely peaceful evening
hmm, DS potentially up for the day in 4 hours.... oops!

dizz oh my goodness!!!! that's so exciting!!!!! well done you!!!!!!

hots well done on doing a pirate cake. mine was a pirate cake as well but it was more accident than design! i'll try and upload a photo tomorrow and we can have a pirate cake competition

happy birthday to all the special 8/8/8 boys and girls
xxxxxxx

Morning

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIANNE EMILY and ISAAC have a wonderful day all of you and your mummies.

Sazzles - not sure about where we are off to today I am just keen to get a few things done and have a HUGE walk in the sunshine so if he can cope with just doing what I need to get done then I will be happy! We are going to look at a swing for DD's birthday present, which is in Malmesbury.

Steaky - hope your flight was good and you are now on your way to your mums.

HP - photo of me??? never, there isn't a strong enough camera lens

DIZZY - CONGRATULATIONS on the Planning Permission I just knew my comment would swing it Now when is the opening party??

Miamla - hope you got some sleep before DS woke up.
