Re my norks btw, the infection has cleared, so that's good. Not sure still about the thrush as there was no pain after I fed him last night, though there was the night before, so I'll see how that develops. There's still a bit of lumpiness but she said it was probably a duct that got very inflamed, anyway I'm having it scanned on monday.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2009 14:44

virtual hand holding for Monday Sputnik. I'm glad things are less painful and that it is all clearing in the right direction. Is the cracking going as well?

Well I've done my nappy gig and safe to say I'm not retiring just yet . I handed out lots of leaflets though and chatted through nappies to a few of the mums, although some of them were converts already. Fingers crossed something will come of it. Hopefully my doula's DD will but some from me; she is really interested. Need to find out if there is still a promo on though...back later.

sorry I have missed something. Are you OK sputnik?

I am back from my trip to town, tired and emotional with an unneccesary purple cord skirt, and having spent £20 on a dark navy linen skirt and blouse set, with a bit of tasteful beading. (I know £20 isn't a lot really, but it is to me for an outfit I'll wear once, and I had set my mind of grey trousers TBH, as I ordered a tunic dress on La Redoute last night and it needs trousers under! Not that it would have arrived in time, but now I've bought something else I bet it does). I went in to a dress agency for a look, and tried ona black linen skirt suit with cutwork patterns around the sleeves and hem, which was lovely (and cheaper!). The shop lady made baggins a drink and gave him a biscuit while I tried stuff on. She said both outfits looked nice anyway, but maybe she just wanted to sell something? I am terrified of looking fat and middle aged

Sputnik · 17/09/2009 16:35

Yes, no worries, have just had various bf related problems and doc was a bit so sent me for a scan just to be sure. I'm pretty sure I would've noticed any lumps before getting mastitis though.

Glad you got your outfit sorted.

Ohforfoxsake · 17/09/2009 19:46

Good luck with your scan on Monday Sputnik. Could be cysts or something?

Are you sorted for your wedding Ria?

Sorry, have only briefly scanned through.

Diet is the Harcombe diet - in last months She magazine (has Emma Bunton on the front if you want to look at it). Basically a bit Atkins - you don't mix your carbs and fat, and you detox. It says there are 3 causes of cravings, Candida, food intolerance and hypoglycaemia. By tackling these in phase 1 you can pretty much get a grip on what you eat again. The beauty of it is that phase 1 is a 5 day diet, so is entirely manageable. And you lose a lot of weight, (about a pound a day) which is a huge incentive. Its completely changed the way I eat, and I feel so much better for it.

You might have porridge with blueberries for breakfast (meant to be made with water, I use skimmed milk), tuna salad for lunch, beef stir-fry for tea. One carb meal, two protein meals. No potatoes or mushrooms. You can snack on low fat live natural yogurt (I still have fruit yogurt).

Thats it in a nutshell.

Any questions?

Sputnik · 17/09/2009 20:20

That is very interesting. As I'm pretty sure I have thrush in my ducts maybe that explains why I can't seem to loose weight? (clutches at straws). I had really bad thrush when pg with DS so maybe it has lurked since.

Shame I can't get hold of this magazine, what does phase 1 consist of, the detox?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/09/2009 21:06

Good luck for the scan, Sputnik. And ouch for the pin JBM!!

Ria, hope you have a nice time at this wedding - and that the outfit looks fab

Well, I had my counselling assessment and they reckon I should benefit from counselling, so I just have to wait to see how long it is before they can fit me in. (She warned there may be a wait because I can only do evenings.) But I do actually feel rather better just from the assessment - partly just from the relief that it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be (though it was pretty hard going at points). Also some of the things we discussed did actually help, but mainly I think that it's nice to know there is hope!

Am thinking of seeing if I can get Jamlet into nursery for an extra half day per week, and then going into work for half a day, rather than working at home. I find it a pain, and last night DH said he hates me doing it . It'll mean less money though, as we'll have to pay nursery that bit more, but probably worth it I think.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2009 21:18

no 'shrooms We love 'shrooms in this house. But, I suppose if you are eliminating fingal growth they are the obvious choice.

I might have to have a wee peep at it foxy, although I'm normally quite cynical about faddy diets.

actually am cynical about any sort of diet; mainly because they interfere with my chocolate and wine consumption

Here we go Sputnik. I also like that excuse and have a history of thrushy problems. I remember butterfly talking about ridding herself of candida through diet aaaaages ago (when I had thrush with DD). Where is she anyway? I miss her.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2009 21:20

fungal, not fingal obviously, unless mythical giants are a problem for you

gotta love her; she wears inappropriate shoes

Hello

Glad wedding pressie and outfit are sorted Ria.

Hopefully things are a bit calmer Jammy now you've had your appointment. Sounds like a good idea about nursery and work.....still gives you plenty of time with DD at home.

I spent a day at work yesterday (you wouldn't think I've still got 2 months mat leave!) but quite enjoyed it.

Daisy, I had about 48g of broken gold....mostly argos crap from my younger days and some single earrings etc etc. It was all 9ct so about a third to a half is actual gold and the bloke I went to paid £6.20 a gram. It filled up about half a money bag. Stuff that had been sitting in my jewellery box for years. I'm not going to spend £160 on a handbag, but I am going to use it to buy us all a treat!

Hope scan goes OK Monday Sputnik.

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2009 10:10

If you want me to photocopy it and post it, FB me your addresses.

Sputnik · 18/09/2009 10:54

Would you? I would love you forever Foxy (not that I don't already ) Ok I will PP you the postage.
Just the detox part is probably enough, the rest I think I get and is not too far from how I eat anyway. Snacking and "extras" is my problem.

Sputnik · 18/09/2009 11:24

If you have a scanner you could scan it and email too.

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2009 13:40

ooh, I could I think! Let me try...

LackaDAISYcal · 18/09/2009 13:46

I've ordered the book from Amazon foxy, on DH's credit card

OP posts:
Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2009 15:16

do you want the magazine article as well? The book isn't very well written, the mag article is simplified and makes sense. I'm still working from that, but then I ordered my book over a months ago, have re-ordered it, have ordered the recipe book and still.....nothing. Bloody Amazon.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 18/09/2009 15:16

Afternoon all!

Well I got the social workers off my back!

How is everyone?

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2009 15:18

What did you do? Tell them you'd chop them into little pieces and feed them to the dog of they didn't leave you alone?

Ohforfoxsake · 18/09/2009 15:18

school run time.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 18/09/2009 15:23

I am dead busy, DS2 keeps me busy (he was diagnosed with reflux but I have managed to 'fix' it) plus I decided to make some RL friends as I have been feeling socially challenged and the RL friends I did have have kind of fallen off my radar and we never seem to actually meet up. Moved on/different lives I suppose.

Sooo... it's all good! I have had a busy week and next week even more so! Got Christmas pressies being delivered, getting ready for outlaw arrival and am meeting up with friends for coffees/lunches!

Plus I am checking out a new nursery next week. More expensive but the current one fell out of favour when they flushed DS's pants down the loo and sent me home a plastic bag of sweetcorn-y turd. They said it was a mistake......hmmmm.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 18/09/2009 15:24

Foxy I acted like a deliriously happy person acts.

Everything is FINE!
NO! I'm not tired, and if I am, I LOVE IT!
Screaming babies fill me with pleasure endorphins!

RIAlityBites · 18/09/2009 17:09

hi all.

DS1 IS HOME. He is going out lazer-questing in a hour with youth group. He had one poo mid-week he said (sorry if TMI), the food was great, and he climbed up to the top of the "leap of faith" but couldn't jump off. He brought teddies for DS2 & 3. My Mum is doing his laundry. Is there such a thing as family outdoor adventure centres?

Cushion-making, ironing and self-beautifying tonight...

LittleMissNorty · 18/09/2009 17:14

sounds like he had a great time Ria....and you missed him by the sounds of it!

My DD has been a PITA all day . Roll on 7pm

getting hassled here by a cat and a dog....better feed them I spose.....at they appreciate my efforts in preparing food for them.....

Nappy sounds cute Daisy.

Where's Natty recently?
