Just popping in to say I read most of that thread and looked at some of the links and I think I've sussed out the diet so Foxy don't worry about sending anything, thanks for offering anyway. I was prevaricating about when to start, as we're going for a long weekend next weekend, but have decided to start straight away so I'll be over phase 1 by then. If I have lost a kg or 2 then so much the better! Will be joining that thread too.

LatinDAISYcal · 19/09/2009 23:28

I've also been reading the HD thread and it looks very promising. My one query is just how sustainable it is though?

I also have issues with things that only allow wholewheat this and that as I obv can't eat wheat, and a lot of gluten free foods tend to be highly processed, especially the pasta which is normally from rice flour. Although phase 1 seems to be based around some GF foods, so maybe not so bad at all.......

I am heartened by the fact that my alcoholism affection for wine is caused by insulin induced cravings (if I read it right)

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 09:59

maybe I should re-read that diet, I must have missed something! I am restarting SW this week again I think.

very tired and on a go-slow this morning. It only took us about 2 1/5 hours either way yesterday. We arrived 2 hours early! So we went to a convenient local NT place (Woolsthorpe Manor? Isaac Newtons house anyway) and it had an interactive science centre that the boys thought was great (DS1 is in pocket money overdraft though as DH said to get them a souvenier, and there was a Newtons Cradle, andI've always wanted one, so I got it for DS1!) It filled in the time before the wedding anyway.

It was gorgeous weather too, and they had a Humanist ceremony in the garden of the quaint pub where the reception was. And a lovely buffet and hog roast (though DH and I are useless at these things - he wanted to get in the kitchen and I always feel I should be clearing plates and glasses) There was a lovely black kitten running round the car park, which sadly didn't hide in our car and come home with us.
Guess who, when talking to the groom, referred to the bride by the name of the grooms previous GF. He thought it was hillarious (thankfully). In my defence we haven't seen him since DS2s christening nearly 5 years ago, and that was his GF at the time, who he was with for maybe 2 years previous to that, and we didn't meet his wife til yesterday. I got it right on the cushion though! The boys weren't too badly behaved, but they were terrible all night when we got home, I don't think baggins went to sleep til 3am.

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 10:35

lol ria at your bride blooper!

and at baggins not going to bed till 3am!

Sounds like a lovely day though. We have no more weddings on the horizon as all our friends and family are married off already..shame as I love a good wedding. Mind you, DH seems to think it's only a matter of time before the second marriages (and obviously divorces) start, cynical old sod that he is!

It's just me and the bumble today; boys off fishing and DD has gone to her GPs. I am meant to be doing stuff, but am just enjoying the P&Q while bumble plays happily by himself.

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 11:03

I think that'll be it for us wedding-wise, until DHs DD.

wish I had P&Q. DH has gone off to work (he can't bear to be away - he went in early!) DS1&2 are bickering... we are all full of cold

am pretty chuffed with the mascara removing properties of baby wipes though.

Sputnik · 20/09/2009 11:05

Glad you had a good time Ria.
I think that diet would be quite good for GF Daisy. The phase1 is GF anyway, the only carbs you have at all is brown rice. In phase 2, IIRC you have 1 carb meal a day, could be porrige for breakfast or something with beans or lentils or rice for lunch or dinner. I tried that rice pasta once it is foul so not eating it would be no sacrifice for me!

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 11:23

the rice pasta is indeed foul sputnik, although there is now a brown rice one that looks the part....

the one i use is a very refined white flour pasta and tastes almost like the real thing....not sure it would be acceptable on any phase of the diet. Need to read more I think. Dh is sceptical as usual and keeps repeating eat less, do more. He hasn't realised I bought the books using his card yet I'm a bit worried about the breakfast aspect of things as have no time for fannying about with bacon and eggs in the morning and a pot of yogurt will just not do it for me.

Ohforfoxsake · 20/09/2009 12:51

Tell DH his theory is wrong! Since sorting out my candida I've not had a biscuit or cake, and since wheat has been cut out no bloating either. Friend of mine used to suffer terrible indigestion, but no more.

I think I had one piece of bread so far.

Boiled eggs and asparagus tips are a nice brekkie. Bacon and eggs with no tomato ketchup took a bit of getting used to.

Definately sustainable IMVHO. But then, I'm still obsessed.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 20/09/2009 13:48

I am knackered!

Changed sheets on bed, deep cleaned kitchen, cooked a fry up, cleaned windows, cut DS1's and DH's hair, dyed eyebrows, made smoked mackerel pate which DS1 since devoured, done ocado shop, done 2 loads laundry, ironed a throw blanket and helped DH clean out the shed and take stuff to the tip.

I bet no-one actually bothered to read that

DS2 is now over 13lbs, he is going to be a lardy like the rest of us. He did sleep from 10pm til 5am though so I like him today.

I might take the horrors for a walk now, we all need the exercise.

Outlaws arrive on Saturday, eek!

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 14:43

that's way too much activity for a Sunday Fury! get a sit down with a cup of tea.

Ohforfoxsake · 20/09/2009 15:03

I read it, but only in a competitive way

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 15:22

hey foxy have you got rid of your nits? a mum at school recommended a Nityy Gritty comb. Anyone tried one?

must go and be competitive constructive!

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 15:26

how much weight have you lost altogether foxy?

flipping heck fury, I have managd to hang out a load of washing, get another one on, pop to te shops and make lunch from bumble and me (which he proclaimed to be "num num num" ). Haven't done the washing up though

Am now officially bored. I want to get on with the decorating but small child is kind of hampering that plan. Tried to play out in the garden, but he has discovered that soil tastes good so won't stayaway from the raied beds!

DD's old boden snowsuit is currently at £10.50 on ebay and has until 8pm to run with 7 people watching it. Not bad considering it only cost £20 new!! The John Rocha one has no interest at all....is John Rocha not a good designer name then? . We got it as a gift.

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 15:39

DS1 was wearing John rocha yesterday - from a charity shop of course, DHs shirt was too, but it was bloody cold here so he put his winter shirt and tie on. And it was boiling in Lincolnshire!

I have done some ironing, fed 2/3 kids, put baggins down for a nap, had baths and got dressed, oh and fiddled with some photos. Need to visit my mum and go to the shop, and was going to take some flowers to the cemetry, but will leave it a day or two now.

is that a Strictly name daisy? or am I missing something? When can we have our halloween names?

RIAlityBites · 20/09/2009 15:43

it's nearly time for DH to be home from work, it's flown today. I wish we'd been outside, it's glorious.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/09/2009 15:57

We went to the arboretum this afternoon Ria,it was lovely.I just wish we could have stayed longer.

LittleMissNorty · 20/09/2009 17:23

crap weather down here today ....turned on the underfloor heating in the bathroom!

DD has done all her wees and poos in the potty today .

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/09/2009 19:27

Glad the wedding was good Ria. You look fab in your pics btw

Well done with the poos and wees Norty. Well, not you personally, of course.

Was lovely to have my parents here for the weekend. Jamlet LOVED them being here and they loved seeing her We had the morning out with them yesterday and then they went to see the cottage where my Mum lived for about 5 years as a child. They were invited to tea by the people who live there now, and a childhood friend of Mum's was invited too to meet her after all these (60+) years. So it was a real trip down memory lane for her

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 20:12

it is my strictly name ria...suppose I should only roll it out at the weekend though can't see me being Latin until nearly Christmas!!

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 20:15

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/09/2009 21:20

That's good Daisy

LatinDAISYcal · 20/09/2009 21:50

I need some comments/criticisms/advice here please

justbeme · 20/09/2009 22:49

That's good Daisy!!
How about adding your children's ages when you say "Mum of three"?
plus - should BumGenius have a Capital B - or is that the way they "spell" it?

justbeme · 20/09/2009 22:49

Also you add the reasons why people choose re-usables?
Nick some ideas off some other sites!!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/09/2009 07:15

Agree with JBM- say more about you/the DC and the pros of cloth nappies. You could also do a FAQ type section to address common concerns, eg will I spend hourswashing nappies, will my house smell of wee/poo?
