JKS - have FBed you

On washing line question, have only got a long washing line but in the corner were its attached to shed we get spider webs but at least not living in it iyswim ie hidden

JustKeepSwimming · 28/06/2009 11:14

Had a lovely lie-in thanks & a bacon sandwich & tea brought to me in bed

a few weeks ago we brought the papers upstairs and both boys played really nicely so we thought we'd try every sunday. well H went back to bed but T played nicely in our room and didn't disturb his brother so a definite plan for sundays from now on

Simps - got message - will dig one out and get it posted asap!

re the spiders i know they are only tiddly ones but still. between every wash they seem to take it over, then i have to bravely (!) sort of swoosh away the cobwebs to hang clothes up again.
need a spider-proof line

Lily - thanks. i know we have to just get on with things but sometimes wish we didn't (sure Madmouse would agree with me on this one!).
they often end up with a cocktail of up to 3 drugs so 2 is a definite possibility.
really don't know enough about surgery to talk about it! need lots more research and to talk to those who've done it & those who do it....but it's there as a possibility and a potential 'cure'...

anyway, lovely sunshine, friends arriving soon, suncream on, hope we all have a good day

LaTrucha · 28/06/2009 12:53

JKS - re: spiders. I used to have a rotary and I did get spiders. I guess you could give it the once over with a duster before hanging out. Re: bath - yes I do, every time. Sabela had a UTI when she was little so I'm really cautious about anywhere where she might pick something up. Also, a paediatrician in Spain really told off my SIL for not cleaning each time. So, that's why.

Paddling pool out today - and Sabela actually agreed to go in it this time! Do you put a nappy on your LOs in the paddling pool or am I being silly and I shoudl let her go naked?

simpson · 28/06/2009 19:23

LaT - I would use a swim nappy for M but only because her poos can be quite horrid

JustKeepSwimming · 28/06/2009 20:31

LaT - ok, i'll settle for being the lazy one - or maybe boys are less likely to get UTIs anyway? maybe i'd be more aware if i had a girl....

I use a swim nappy for both boys atm. T i would like to let go naked so he learn what a wee is all about but he doesn't like being naked

I'm happier with H having either a swim nappy or a reusable swimming costume thingie in case he poos - too random to predict!

had lovely day with friends + sunshine

just talked through the hosp appt with dh (not had much of a chance before) and we agree we will raise concerns during the week with GOSH (and chase next appt) as we can't carry on as we are/as he is.

right, need to catch up on MN threads/FB/email/etc. whilst watching MIB2

LaTrucha · 28/06/2009 22:12

JKS - good you and DH have a united front. Well done. And you're right, girls are more at risk of UTIs. I'm pretty amazed at how seriously the hospital has taken it. She was about 4-5 months old and we're still having follow-up appointments. Next one is in October.

Despite it being grey (and raining for a while) this afternoon, Sabela has been in and out of the paddling pool. Each time she comes out I had to change clothes and nappy (which she hates as she wantsd to do it herself and can't) and then 20 minutes later she'd be pointing and pulling until I gave in. Fun though.

LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 13:26

I bought the tea service - and I appear to be going back to cloth nappies - at least a few. Do any of you?

Not expecting many posts on here today. Isn't it glorious?

Gingeme · 29/06/2009 15:56

Afternoon ladies
We had a great weekend with my Mum here. Sat morning we went to Waltham cross. A shopping centre quite near us. Scoured the charity shops and got myself some lovely tops and skirts . Yesterday we went to a car boot sale but didn't get much. Then in the evening Mum and I went to a jewelery party at my sil's. It was hand bags and sun glasses ect too. Basicaly designer knock offs . I treated myself to a lovely charm bracelet and got ds2 a designer belt. He will be 14 in August and hes into his designer gear.
Mum went home this morning so back to routine once again
Had a bit of a rough night with George last night. I think he was just too hot
Sorry for no personals but it seems you all enjoyed the weekend xxx

Lilyloo · 29/06/2009 20:02

Gingeme sounds lovely

LaT does she like it ??

We had our bouncy castle i bought last year from woolies at bargain price. Turns out it has paddling pool and slide attached . DC's loved it especially M ! She was in naked too
No rain here , clouded up a bit this aft but come glorious again. V hot!!!

LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 20:10

I hasn't come yet. i had to buy it though. Every time we leave somewhere where they have one, she wails and wails.

LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 20:15

I'm very upset todya as Dad has had a not-so-cheery- oncologists appointment. We don't quite know what's going on but he's got to have a scan because the liver is having difficulty functioning. I've been lulled into a false sense of security as the past couple have been so good. I really don't know how to do this. How do you live without hope?

Lilyloo · 29/06/2009 20:32

LaT you never give up hope (whether that's a good thing or not who knows)
Try to just take it a step at a time and wait for the scan results before trying to pre empt them if you can.
How is he. Just give him chance to talk if he needs to i guess.
Will you be able to go with him for scan ?
Sorry loose track where you are

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 20:42

Thanks Lilyloo. I know you've been through similar. I won't be able to be there for the scan. We're going to stay with him in July. We're in Wales and he's in Essex.

I was really hoping we'd get a few more months that they've said. Sometimes it feels worse to hope. If I feel there is a chance we'll have a bit more time and then you don't get it, I mean. We haven't been given any hope of him surviving by the doctors.

Sorry to bring a downer to such a lovely day/

Lilyloo · 29/06/2009 20:45

LaT where was his original tumour ?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 20:49

Pancreas (we don't know it's spread yet. I guess that's what the scan is for).

JustKeepSwimming · 29/06/2009 21:19

LaT ((hugs)) for you.
the thing is, it could be related and not such great news, or it could be something more easily treatable that they will treat and get him back on more of an even keel. it's hard not to jump to conclusions but keep hoping. and keep making memories.

(with my gran, most things were in a downhill direction but with my mum, there were things we thought were awful signs for the future that were dealt with fine. eg she had a few fits and the 'crash cart' was called - not needed thankfully - turned out her body salts were skewif (sp?!) and once she took some magnesium horse pills she was fine and they didn't happen again)

Have to confess been totally crap with H re cloth nappies - and have loads of expensive ones oh well will try again with number 3!
used them lots with T, less with H. and now he sleeps so long he's prob better off in disposables.

had chat with GOSH today - they are ringing back with new plan tomorrow/wed. all positive really in their approach.

um, forgotten anything else i was going to say!
big question; stay up later than i should watching Murray, or go to bed knowing he's going to win anyway?????

JustKeepSwimming · 29/06/2009 21:21

Oh yes.

Lily - we have a v similar pool/castle thing from ELC last year - though our pool sides keep deflating, grr.

G - i slept terribly last night, def the heat for me.
have got just a sheet on too but still no good. and having the windows open for air means any noises wake me up too.

LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 21:22

How late will it be?

LaTrucha · 29/06/2009 21:24

Oh. And thanks for that JKS. I think I try and put it out of my mind so much, that I'm actually too successful. I had sort of thought everything had gone back to normal. Bit of a shokc.

Glad about GOSH - the donations instead of flowers that we had at mum's funeral went there.

AngeChica · 29/06/2009 21:43

just popping in to say hello... tennis here too. LaT hope you have some special things planned with your dad in July, something to look forward to to take your mind off it.

Wondering if Nicky has had her baby?

JustKeepSwimming · 29/06/2009 21:43

Well thankyou on GOSH's behalf

Well, on a good night i can go to bed at 9.
The latest i stay up at home would be about 10.30.
With lights & roof they could play for hours more i guess.

think i will have to give up and hope they stop and finish tomorrow.
not that T lets me watch tennis when there is perfectly good Tom-tv to watch , grr.

madmouse · 30/06/2009 00:02

LaT - big hugs. Feel I want to say lots about that - and my own memories of the time but my head is not in a good place and can't get it on 'paper' - maybe on facebook one of these days

JKS glad GOSH positive and thinking with you on a treatment plan adjustment.

Hi Lily and everyone else xx

Lilyloo · 30/06/2009 11:21

JKS hope they come up with something more suited to H today. They sound great

LaT agree with Ange. Maybe get some special days out with your dad arranged for July. Is there anything special you could book for a nice day out , maybe something he really likes to do ? Will give you all something to look forward to.

MM sorry you still so down Miss your posts , hope you can join in again real soon!

No baby for Nicky yet , think she still got couple of weeks.

Guessing Simps broadband gone Hopefully you can get to library soon.

L at school again this afternoon so poor M won't be able to have much of a nap. She shattered too as her eczema really flared up on her legs , is weeping think it must be the heat so she isn't sleeping!

Gingeme · 30/06/2009 12:01

Morning ladies.
No sleep here either George does not like this heat so I don't know how were going to cope in Tenerife. JKS with you on the noise with the window open. DH sleeps though it all and wonders why I'm so tired.
George woke crying this morning too and DH went into him and found him covered in pooh so bunged him in the shower while I bunged everything in the washing machine.Still everyone was fine at playgroup. Phew!
LaT ((hugs))
Sounds all good JKS
Simpson simpson where for art thou ?

simpson · 30/06/2009 15:17

am still here

phone line exchanges on 10th July so fingers X will have broadband till then.

JKS - good luck today.

Sorry not been on much but having rough time with H again and had to give ultimatum last night ie shape up and be a good dad or else as he never rings to talk to J or text me about kids etc.

Also had nightmare trying to sort out whether I get any help with mortgage to be told no I am on my own

H was no help and said he could not cope

Then spoke to another lovely woman who said yes they will pay interest of mortgage for 2yrs but have to be on benefits for 13wks (takes us to 12th Aug)

So all in all has been a bit stressful really. Spoke to mortgage co today who said we have enough credit for 2mths payments which is the first bit of good news for ages!!

Am off out tonight to book launch party Panicking about what to wear and whether my dad will cope with kids!!
