geez i step away from the thread thinking you all are in bed and WHAM the thread moves with lightening speed..............past my last post.

VG he gave no medical facts. he just said the baby is in good health and thought her need was more mommy time than food. to which i did this because she easily downs 8oz in 2min during both "night" feeds. i would like her to sleep through so it's not a bad idea to withhold food (didn't Captain do this) to get her in the habit of eating during the day, at least for the one "real" middle of the night feed. she's 22+ pounds at this point, i doubt one withheld feed is going to do harm while i help her adjust her habit.

VG glad to hear DS doing well.

Dizzy DS is strapped in tightly but is such a little wriggler he still manages to get out not sure how to keep him in without cutting off the blood supply to his legs

Miamla thanks for the invite - hoping it may coincide with big brother's wedding Spring next year....

Oops any joy with hunting down the Joey Safe?

oopsacoconut · 16/06/2009 07:07

Morning all

Expectant - Dad has looked but can't find it but I am going up next week so will look properly!

TS - DD is also still feeding in the night but I am happy to contiunue as she is still not taking more than 2 or 3 oz of formula at a time and if she doesn't want it nothing can make her open her mouth. I think she knows if she waits until early morning I will just BF her instead! She is still a weeny 16lbs!

I started strapping DD in yesterday after hearing about E, DH always straps her in because I told him he has to incase she climbs out. Very much a case of one rule for him and one rule for me

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 07:45

16lb Oops what a dainty girl you have!

VG I'm glad DS2 is OK, it must have been terrifying . It's bad enough when they just bang their heads toppling over from sitting. I have left DS on the bed and he has rolled off onto the floor, I also once dropped DD on the concrete floor when I was trying to get her in her bouncy door swing.

Well it's my last day off work today, spoiled a bit so far by DS, after waking at 12 for the first time in ages, woke at 5 and although he fell asleep being fed/cuddled twice, as soon as I put him in his cot he woke up again. Then DD woke up at 6.15 and wouldn't go back to bed, she is already on a knife-edge from tiredness and I am just shouting at her but she is driving me round the bend. Grrr.

Oops have you remembered what you're supposed to be doing today yet?

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 08:23

Ann another vote for Hot Mamas. Come on over and we'll sort you out

Also glad to see so many others whose DC will not inherit the Earth on turning 18 Although perhaps I should think about it a little bit more. My lovely best friend, who is a bit younger than me, has already accumulated a pension of £9000 p.a. . Despite reports to the contrary, civil service pensions are not that great, ah feck .

Which reminds me though - we also love Father Ted and I have been humming My Lovely Horse all morning

Ooh, ooh, Miamla thanks for the invite, and I would love to come. But I will be wearing green plates by then

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 08:34

No1 Shetland ponies are evil, I still sometimes have a red mark on my arm from one little fecker that bit me 15 years ago. Sounds like you had a good time riding anyway . I hope DS' assessment goes OK today and you get a decent health visitor.

On the subject of periods, I've had 3 now but they have been really light so no help there, sorry

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 08:36

Well asIamtalkingtomyself as it is my last day off I ought to go and spend some quality time with my lovely children...

Miamla · 16/06/2009 08:42

i'm here hots...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/06/2009 08:48

lol hotter at talking to yourself, and yes shetlands can be quite nasty, in fact the smalller horses/ponies get the more nippy they can be. enjoy your last day off today.
I am going to ring sister now see if she will watch dd while I take ds as dh just realised he has a dentist appointment at the same time
will be interesting to see if ds is anywhere near 20lbs yet.
miamla hope you are feeling better this morning, we are here if you want to chat, pleas dont feel that you cant be here, just because you are not feeling chirpy, you all listen to me moan enough.
ts yes a nurse told me to stop bf dd when she was 9 month,as she said they should be getting enough from solids in the day,and certainly dont need it at night.or will increase in day if you decrease at night. They are all different though.
hi expectant

Morning everyone!
Well ladies, wish me luck. I'm jobhunting. Aargh. and I have really mixed feelings about it. But it's necessary, especially with my bank heing arsey. Feck. Oh well.
Seb has been doing standing up for about three weeks now. He sometimes shuffles along sideways as well, until he runs out of couch/coffee table. He was trying to do chin dips on the bookshelf last week. He even succeeded in lifting himself up (his feet left the ground )
Right off to look at jobs and brush up the old cv. Then off to driving lesson this afternoon.
Hope everyone had a good night

Miamla · 16/06/2009 09:39

i spent most of last week literally stuffing DS with as much food/bf as i could muster during the day in the hope it would have a positive effect on his nights. it didn't. mum reckons we should go cold turkey on bf and if we do that then he'll sleep. i'm aiming for his 1st birthday

sazz thanks for remembering about bum appt. bit of a predicament, can't really take DS but no one free to babysit, can i courier him to you for a couple of hours?

LoveBuckets · 16/06/2009 09:43

TS 16oz at night? She must pee like a fountain - do you have to change her nappy at nightfeeds? You could always try making the bottles smaller and smaller until you're confident. My formula tin says they only need 20oz a day by 12m, I guess that's assuming they're on 3 meals a day. We've got down to 22oz now (8oz with breakfast, 4oz with lunch, 4oz warm water at teatime

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2009 10:10

Morning all.
A good night here - we're getting mostly good nights now, with the odd wake up thrown in (like Sunday night when fecking lodger woke him as he came in) - but ds woke at about 5.30. Why why why? At about 6 dh went in as we could hear noises that sounds like destructions. He's reached out amd knocked the bedside lamp over. Dh gave him some books and extra toys and he was happy til 7. Tired though as waking up at 5ish is never conducive to much more sleep.

miamla what time is appt? why didn;t you ask me? .

Miamla · 16/06/2009 10:14

albs i haven't asked because its at 5pm

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2009 10:47

miamla - bother. I'm trying to work out of i can do it, but we have parents eve at school and I can't think straight about time scales...

Listen to Sazzles showing off her swimming speed. :-P

Buckets that's actually some really good info. Reese was up twice and I had to feed her. She acts like she's having sugar shakes then downs 8oz...once at 1:30am then again at 5:30am. It's hard for me to cut these out since she seems to NEED them. Next week I'll figure out a plan to do more foods during the day. Right now she's eating two to three meals a day but prefers bottles. However she doesn't drink more than 4oz during those daylight hour bottle feeds.

HP I hope your able to check up out at work. >

Tennis then Swimming today.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/06/2009 13:19

well done on the swim sazzles wow.
ann good luck on the job front.

ds appointment went ok, i have finaly met a nice HV.
Ds has reached 20lb bang on.
she also suggested if he is eating well in the day and getting at least 20oz of milk in the day then it is probably more habbit in the night. She suggested dh go settle, or offer water instead.

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2009 13:34

offering water! brilliant!! no1 how clever your hv is. i think i might try that tonight.

reese is eating some string cheese now with a glass of orange juice. she's really got the cut action down. just wish she'd quit experimenting with the liquid. she'll drink then she'll try to pour it all over her highchair table so she can "play" in it.

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/06/2009 13:38

ts my friend used to offer slightly warm water and after 3 nights, stopped waking for it. worked with both her dcs.
I have thought about it before, but always feel guilty in case he is really hungry.
tempted to try it though

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 13:50

Flip me but it's warm out there today - just got back from taking DD to nursery and my back and DS' front are all sweaty from the sling. Everyone is when they see us though, it's fab. Think I am the only bigger baby slinger in the area, certainly seems that way from peoples reactions.

Oh no, DS has pulled baby monitor down and he's got a nose bleed poor poppet. Oh look he's off back to try again

No1 and TS good luck if you try the warm water trick. DS rarely wakes before 5.30 these days but when he does it's a killer. They might just be thirsty anyway in this steamy weather.

LoveBuckets · 16/06/2009 16:03

So have any walking babies got shoes yet? I was thinking I ought to try and find a cheap source of soft leather Daisy Roots type shoes since Squirt Squirt might start walking/standing when out & about soon. At the moment he is 100% barefoot. Any good links?
