DS took some more steps yesterday and was so pleased with himself he sat down and clapped afterwards (he's not really got the hang of clapping very well he tends to put both hands together clasped and move them up and down - DH says he's doing some kind of Johnny Wilkinson impression).

After all that activity and excitement it didn't lead to a better night - he woke at 11 and 4.15 then again at 6am up for the day. When I woke up at 4.15 I was surprised and v to find that DH hadn't come home yet. He'd had a bad day at work and gone to the bar afterwards as it was appraisal day and he'd had to give some of his team some bad news and they wanted to speak about it which is fair enough and he doesn't go out very often but he finally rolled in at 4.30 - 4.30!!! He seems to be of the opinion that as I only work part time it's ok for me to be completely knackered at work as I have the afternoon to relax - really easy whilst looking after DS who as you'll have gathered is not the most placid of babies. I am the one who has to get up in the night every time as DH reckons he's no good at settling DS and he'll only have to get me up eventually anyway - a bit of practice wouldn't go amiss though would it?

Rant over hope you all had wonderfully sleeping LOs last night and looking forward to the weekend.

AnnVan · 12/06/2009 06:51

Morning everyone. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. DP is off work this week, and has spent a lot of it playing on the laptop, so I haven't been able to get access often.
Sebastian is now very good at pulling himslef up to standing, and sometimes moves a bit as well.
He had an accident in the early hours yesterday. He fell off the couch and landed on his head. DP was with him at the time, and felt absolutely awful. Seb has a cut on his forehead, and on the inside of his top lip (guessing his teeth must have cut his lip when he landed) there's no real swelling or bruising though.
wakeups every 1-2 hours here last night and then he decided to get up at 5am after I'd only slept for about 1/12 hours
and now he's piddled on me...

hotterpotter · 12/06/2009 08:18

Dizzy is he/she another one of your conquests?

Ann hi! I have to fight DH for the laptop too but I shouldn't really complain as he is mainly selling his crappy old records on ebay. Poor DS, but don't worry they heal v quick.

Expectant bet your DH has a sore head this morning what a dirty stop-out! Well done to your DS though. We are still firmly in the cruising stage but he still manages to get everywhere and into everything. His latest trick is spotting wherever DD has left a half-finished drink of juice or water, and trying to drink it himself. He picked cold sparkling water the other day - it went all over him he was a bit shocked poor poppet. Hasn't stopped him trying again though...

Breakfast time. Thanks Ann but it's too sunny for porridge. Toast or crispies on offer here

Miamla · 12/06/2009 08:22

hotterpotter · 12/06/2009 10:33

Hehe that's excellent Miamla

Very quiet on here today, hope everyone is out enjoying the sunshine. It's my last Friday off work and am spending it having a driving lesson then going to the garden centre with MIL. Boy I sure know how to have a good time Still, don't tell the hot mamas but DD and I have made cupcakes this morning, yum

Well I could have eaten them all but was instead virtuous and only ate one. It was delicious too, with half an inch thick lilac buttercream, yum yum That's it for another week though...

alittlebitshy · 12/06/2009 17:12

phew, caught up!!!

PetitFilou1 · 12/06/2009 19:50

I think I've caught up again (sort of) sorry I've been AWOL again but dd has shingles... aaarggh.....so now Toby will probably have chickenpox in a week and a half. Can't wait Poor dd is on antivirals 5 times a day plus nuclear strength antibiotics 4 times a day for the accompanying infection that developed (it is around her eye). She is being remarkably stoical about taking the meds although was very disappointed that the pink medicine didn't actually taste nice It is nice to spend time with her but it is HARD work to have at home all the time. Everytime I have left her alone she has vaselined something, nearly put my best expensive necklace into one of her 'collections', taken the digital thermometer into the garden, put my keys 'in a safe place' etc etc Roll on when she can go back to preschool.....

Quickly before dh gets back and catches me on here redlentil you are not a crap mum, your ds sounds like he is a bit phobic. I would persevere personally as ds1 was like that with hairwashing and I just kept merrily chucking the water over his head anyway - he seems to be resigned to it now and doesn't make half so much fuss (although still some fuss)

buckets I hope your tetanus jab is up to date owwwwww. How is thyroid situation. Apathy and you do not sit well in the same sentence! You are normally so tiggerish it just isn't right

cyteen Surprise your dh with being taken out by best friend (if also a dad) to do something for the day while you go off elsewhere with child, tickets for world ukele orchestra or similar, or just full breakfast in bed treatment

Hi all, Just popping in to say a quick hellloooo.
Came back from Holiday yesterday tea time.
A day early as we had had enough.
Had a good time, kids droveuspotty were great

Please esxcuse me for not being able to catch up, was only on page 4 when I went away. I will try to though.
oopshave been thinking of you while I was away hope you are doing ok.
pf lovely to 'see' you back. Glad you are feeling a little better.

Just a random thing but has anyone tried putting Miamla real life name into predictive text on mobile and noticed what it says

TwilightSurfer · 12/06/2009 23:01

Just as I sat down to post this morning my dad phoned.

Dad: "Hi. What are ya'll doing today?"
Me: "Tennis and Shopping."
Dad: "oh...I have an upper GI scheduled for 10:30am."
Me: "Dad, you can't drive after that."
Dad: "I realize that now. That's why I called."
thus the ...

Very odd to see dad laid out on a gernie(sp), high as a kite, singing songs. When I told him I was texting XYZ(his wife) to tell her he was okay, he quizzing looked at me and said "WHO?". I replied, "You know that lady you married last." He replied, "oh yeah."

Thankfully both girls were marvelous in the hospital. Actually both have been very good all day. I've obviously paid my dues to someone for that.

Reese hasn't had opportunity to practicing walking today. I plan to let her roam free ALL DAY TOMORROW. Fingers crossed for those first steps.

She has however been BITING me. Saying NO! just makes her laugh so I've resorted to a firm but really quite gentle pop to the diaper. After the third pop she got the point. Hopefully SHE will be my QUICK LEARNER.

PF how sad for your dd. Shingles makes a person feel so bad and the meds don't really make you feel much better for a few days. My best to her.

Expectant I'd be a big at my dh if he'd pulled that too. The last time he did that was when I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant with Reese.

but must run. be back later.

Morning all!

It was very quiet on here last night - I am choosing to imagine that's because everyone's babies were sleeping soundly and the August mamas were getting some much deserved attention from their menfolk (not imagining in too much detail, obviously). I am in a good mood today, not just because I made the round-up again but because I'm off to London for a hen night tonight and so will be savouring each glorious second of freedom. Am planning to buy the Guardian at the station and read the whole thing on the train, doubtless while drinking a cold beer. Ahhhhhhhhhhh joy.

Anyway, have nothing to say for myself other than that so I'll bugger off Have a lovely weekend all.
